FSG is a subsidiary to NESV. A subsidiary, in business matters, is an entity that is controlled by a separate higher entity in this case "NESV". The controlled entity is called a company, corporation, or limited liability company. The controlling entity is called its parent or the parent company.

FSG are a sports marketing agency, and were created by NESV. They also sponsor sporting events. I hope this stops all the FSG talk.

I was reading what Dirk Kuyt has said about KK recently and I couldn't help read that he said that he had no full-training sessions between games just recovery and preparation?, Why? they should of had at least one full-training session, every manager does that!, Perhaps why we have been slacking and suddenly starting to improve. .

I find it brilliant that we are keepin it so quiet in the market it will keep us from buying players at outrageous prices so all rumours are simply that as we'll end up with meirles type buys

Several reports claim that Liverpool FC have made an approach for Downing and Young. Initially the rumour was just invovling Downing and not Young. The Downing rumour was just a smoke screen for the (now not so secret) transfer of Ashley Young.

Keep an eye out, Darrent Bent to Villa, Young to Liverpool.

If this is the case then H&G were right all along. When they said the takeover was all part of an "epic swindle" and will do them no harm in there up coming court case on 9-10th Feb in the High Court.

I am willing to bet all the money I own. . . (not a lot)
that this court case will be dropped before it goes to court. . . as Stadler and waldorf have got previous for defaulting on repayment loans in America. .
It's like a person who gets their house repossessed trying to sue the person who buys it at auction. . It aint gonna happen. .
The agreement for the loan extension was put in place on the understanding that they would sell up and ship out. . but everyone knew that they were screwed and had no money so NESV did what a good company does. . picked us up for dirt cheap. .
Also the 17 people involved in NESV have a combined wealth of way over 3 billion. . . they don't need any money fellas. . they have stacks of it. . Everyone needs to chill out!

Reliable Dave and everyone else who thinks Suarez will sign on Wed/ Thurs, I hope you're right. However, it's all hearsay and rumours, nothing concrete. What is concrete and confirmed is Suso and Conor-Coady have been promoted to Melwood, reserve footie for them.

Where have the links with Lukaku and Hazard gone?

We have had a second bid accepted 100% I post my name because I am confident in my source! Currently we have been granted permission to speak to Suarez represantatives, Agent etc. He isn't sure of the fee but it won't involve a player going is what I've been told. Currently we are in pole position and the deal is imminent however Ajax may fold is another bid comes in but I doubt it.

{editor: As long as Fenway Sports Group are looking to sell a company they don't own I am not fussed. I would be worried in NESV wanted to sell us though.}

Wrong ed. .nesv have become part of fsg. .try typing "are nesv now fsg" in google. . it might help get the misconception settled:)

{editor: I can tell you that NESV are the parent company of FSG. In short LFC is owned by NESV and so are FSG.}

Report: Ajax Denies Liverpool Has Made Bid for Luis Suarez
by Michael Hurley on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 2:51PM

Despite a report that said Liverpool and Ajax spent the weekend negotiating a transfer for Luis Suarez, the Dutch club is denying that a bid has been made.

"Have we had any bids? Not yet. It will have to be an attractive bid, too, " an Ajax source told talksport.co.uk.

Earlier on Monday, a report in De Telegraaf said that Suarez had set his sights on Liverpool, but the Ajax source said that was not the case.

"He has a contract here until 2013 and he doesn't want to move, " the source told the site.

Man do i hate the tabloids!

Ed, anything true about this?

Red Ice

{editor: The fact that it is an Ajax 'source' and not Ajax smells fishy to me. We will have to wait and see if we do sign him or not.}

Just want to put a few people right!

nesv DO have funds and more than most think and its not just what you see on paper!

its not just nesv that the money comes from, a while back now just after the takeover chris evens was doing a interview with someone on bbc radio 2 can't remember who it was but they started talking about lfc and the takeover, chris evens pointed out that john henry is involved with many filthy rich people, and has seen him on more than 1 ocasion at the f1 races with 1 guy, he would not say the guys name but stressed to liverpool fans listening that he had no doubts at all this guy backs nesv and nesv an compete with ANYBODY!

Suso & Connor Coady have been promoted to 1st team training at Melwood. Absolutly made up. Suso is the next Messi and we need to give him a chance on the bench against Fulham at home. We have the youngsters for the future but we need quick fix players right now. Few players who are proven Prem players or Internationals.

Editor's Note: FSG? Nonsense. . .

Sorry if the reply is late Ed, just didn't notice the? Mark. .
Fenway sports group. . I stated ages ago that they were looking to sell, and that their main objective was to sell the club for a quick return to maximize the potential profit.

The rumours that I've heard was that they are aware of a certain member of of a ruling dynasty (mid east) who has an interest/ dream of owning us .

They will try to court this passion in the coming weeks, and whilst "offloading"the club, they will also try to convince said
Person to join "their" sports venture outfit, thus taking the committee from 17 to 18

But it's all nonesense. .until it happens, and then the new breed of itk's will come crawling out off the woodwork. .

Ps how many people who post on here work at the club/ melwood?. .seems that's why we are doing s* te in the league, everyone is on here posting when they should be working

{editor: As long as Fenway Sports Group are looking to sell a company they don't own I am not fussed. I would be worried in NESV wanted to sell us though.}

Liverpool's new owners will pursue several options to improve Kenny Dalglish's forward line this week with Aston Villa's Ashley Young still under consideration despite the Midlanders' reluctance to sell.

The Ajax striker Luis Suárez tops Liverpool's list of potential recruits in this transfer window although there has been no bid so far for the Uruguay international and they face competition for his signature from Tottenham Hotspur. Young is another option that Liverpool have scouted for several months and, despite an acceptance it will be difficult to prise the 25-year-old from Villa Park this month, they are expected to make further inquiries in light of Gérard Houllier's surprise move for Sunderland's Darren Bent. Manchester United are also believed to be monitoring Young's situation at Villa with a view to a summer move for the England international.

FSV are planning to sell in October. Following the sale, a new manager will be appointed at some stage during September.

{Editor's Note: FSV - Fantasy Sports Ventures; What order do the other 10 months go in then?}

ha ha, everything about his post was wrong the company and the months, even got who owns us wrong lol, , u mean fsg mate and even then fsg don't own liverpool nesv own liverpool, fsg is just another product of nesv just like liverpool are

Why so rude? I have it on good authority that the new manager (don't wanna give out a name, but a big clue is that he's Welsh) will be coming in September. as I said, the owners will have already sold in October as they are looking for a quick profit. They bought the club cheaply and they think that this new manager will be able to draw some of the world's top players. . {ed's note - your authority is so good it doesn't even know who owns us. Total rubbish obviously as NESV (our owners in case you were wondering who they are as you clearly have no idea) are a long term investment company, not a quick buck fast turnover type.}

Trust me on these transfers which all I can say. Amount of fake stories on this site nobody would believe anything.

Edison Cavani is being targeted and NOT Suarez and currently preparing that bid for aroun £16m.

We have already had a bid turned down for Ashley Young and may come back in for him on January 30th - 31st 2011 with offer up to £17m.

Benfica won't be selling Coentrao in January for definate and told us to come back in June with £20m and they will sell him to us in a quick deal.

We have Warnock deal on stand by but we could recall Emiliano Insua.

Konchesky won't be leaving.

Jovanovic may go out on loan with view to permanat deal if we sign a new winger.

Roma to block Vucinic Liverpool switch
12:30 PM 17 January, 2011

Roma are set to block Liverpool Football Club's attempts to sign Mirko Vucinic.

Kenny Dalglish is eager to add a top-class striker to his squad during the January window, as he looks to ease some of the goalscoring burden on Fernando Torres.

A move for Vucinic was mooted before the Scot succeeded Roy Hodgson as manager, but it is understood he is more than happy to proceed with the interest.

However, according to Sky Italia, the Giallorossi have changed their stance on the 27-year-old, and will no longer consider offloading him before the end of the season.

The Montenegro international, who has also been linked with Chelsea, has featured in just ten Serie A fixtures this season, but has an impressive six goals to his name.

Just a hunch here but after reading about all the Suarez stuff here I don't think we will get him it's not how our owners work. I think arshavin might b a dalglish type striker who would link well with Torres (Beardsley like)?

jus cos its not the owners way of doing things out in open, don't mean other ppl inside won't release info, plus u have other teams who u buy off who can release info even if ur owners don't want them too, so if u think cos info is out about the bid thenit cnt be true cos its not how the owners wanna work things then ur mistaken, also its mostly camolli who will be dealing with transfers as that's what hes been brought in for! not kenny

have been to watch ajax a few times - always rated him as a good 2nd striker - i like the argies nd uraguayans - got a bit of balls about them - think that's what we need at the moment . .

Have heard a rumour that Liverpool are approaching Villa for Downing and Young due to them needing funds for the Bent deal. Personally I believe we will get one of them but not both.
Also I'm sorry, but I don't think Suarez is coming. I think he will go to either Tottenham or one of the big Italian clubs. Hope I'm wrong though.

ur right bout one of the villa boys, but suarez ur wrong, he will be coming to liverpool, tottenham r not fully commited into buying him, and liverpool has an influence of spanish talking players, he also thinks it would be good to link up with torres he won't be going to italy cos its not where he wants to be the epl is.

First of all we won't be bidding for Bent because Bent is the sort of player that you build a team around where Suarez can play the support striker role excelently like he does with El hamdoui which will help the club and Torres. That's why he is a better option than Bent. However I have heard that we are looking to buys players with pace to match Torres so expect Bids for Honda and possibly Hazzard.

Just a bit of info, my cousin works for Barclays Capital and is a good friend of steve clarke, one thing he said was they will deff not be buying Suarez, he said no one from inside Anfield has spoken about this player, Torres has asked about two players to play up front and Suarez is not one of them, they don't have the money, 23million they want for him

I hate when one person says a player and everyone jumps on it like he's is going to sign. I know it is a rumour site but have some logic.

I think we'll sign Ed, jump on that one (Ed i want a cut of your signing on fee!) If Ed is to expensive we should put a bid in for Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain cause we want to sell more shirts in America! (beleive that one why don't you)

Calired {ed's note - one of them is more famous for not wearing a shirt. I am quite sure they could afford to sign me anyway, it is more whether I could pay them enough to let me play!}

Why people post nonsense is beyond me. To the person who states they have seen Ashley Young outside Liverpool Airport you are talking out of your arse. The midlands is approximately 100km from Liverpool so I'm pretty sure he would arrive by a vehicle, why would someone spend 90 mins checking in, arsing about on planes for a 80min drive.

I used to do security for a high profile premiership manager and I am now working in the middle east, I can assure you that all these posts of players getting spotted are as daft as the people posting them, such business is done behind closed doors these day like at daft o clock in the morning in a vehicle at a service station.

To all the good people with sources then keep the coming, and to all the liars then go and get yourself a girlfriend or wear an Everton shirt (tools) great site Ed, thanks"

* * * * *

This is hilarious - you knock people claiming to have spotted players and agents as a JOKE and call them liars - claiming you know everything there is to know about their movements - and then to top it off - you thank the ed for this site (which if you have noticed is filled with "I spotted . . . " got to love this site!

I have a very reliable source he told me that roy hodgson was number 1 choice 4 da job in the summer 2 weeks before it happened. I SWEAR!

Apparently the owners have lined up these players 4 january

Downing
Suarez
Adam
Catermole
Dann

and they have also targeted these players 4 da summer

Ashley Young
Fabio Contrao
Xabi Alonso
Arda Turan

your thoughts ed? {ed's note - it was well known it would be Roy, hardly a great source getting that one, Gerrard and Carra had made a big show of pushing for him. Though all those players are plausible signings, but there is no chance of signing all of them.}

Liverpool Take Lead In Race For World Class Suarez
There has been plenty of rumour surrounding the future of Ajax's Luis Suarez, and it seems Liverpool have overtaken Tottenham in the race to sign the striker. The reports come from a reliable source of Dutch news.

Dalglish is desperate to strengthen up front and give Fernando Torres a strike partner, and Suarez, 23, who has 81 goals in 108 for Ajax, would be the perfect striker to fit the bill.

It is reported that Liverpool contacted Ajax on Saturday regarding the transfer, and the negotiations are currently continuing.

Tottenham, who have also been chasing the striker, have taken a blow recently when Suarez has made it public he prefers a move to Merseyside because of the presence of many Spanish speaking players to help the young striker blend into the squad.

Suarez is contracted to Ajax until Summer 2013, and it is estimated to take offers in the region of £17,000,000 to take the striker, but with Ajax's financial difficulty negotiations could lead in a lower transfer fee.

I tell you there is a very good chance of us signing Young and not Downing. The Villa hierarchy know he is running down his contract and with it expiring is summer next year the players sell on value is falling. If a bid of 15 million was made they would take it now than risk getting less come the summer. Downing is a smoke screen and I fully expect Young to be a Liverpool player before the end of Jan. Villa would not cough up 18 million for Bent if they were not bringing a similar amount in. Watch this space.

As far as i am aware they still have the Milner money from City.

Hi ed. . .I am F* * *G sh1ting myself over this Downing rumour! !. . .My God, surely this is made up rubbish as he is past it, if he ever had it?!. . This would be a real disaster, the only way i'd be able to accept it is if we got him for 5-6m! !. . And why would we go for him instead of Jarvis or Nzogbia? . .Never really liked Nzogbia's attitude but decided to examin him carefully and to be honest he IS quality, he is confident enough to take on his marker and usually always puts in good final balls! . . Darren Bent would be another disaster who we would never recoup our money from! . . Van Bommel I don't think would be a bad signing cos we're too light and weak in the middle and could'nt string two passes together!, but if we could get Charlie Adam for 6m or less i think he'd be an excellent signing!. But to be honest I think Jonjo Shelvey just needs three or four starts and a bit of calming down from Kenny and I think he'd never be out of the team!. .But if we're gonna bid for Suarez or anyone it needs to happen now?. . What do you think ed?. .am i way off with my Shelvey thoughts?

Think Darren bent would be a better addition to the squad ahead of suarez - let's compare Bent proven in the premier league scores at least 15 to 20 goals a season, used to the premier league pace and physical approach. Suarez none of the above and with a slight problem of sinking his teeth into defenders, any thoughts either way?? Jones

Not a rumour just what i think:

Darren Bent is leaving sunderland as he has put in a tranfer request. Villa have reportedly put in an 18m bid for him and they are the club he wants to go to. .

Does this mean that someone has got to go? Asley Young? He would be 18m ish. .

Young to Liverpool? Ed, what do you think?

Unless NESV pull out there wallet and sign 4-5 players.

Warnock

Hazard

all joining in 2011

Star player Luis Suarez wants to leave Ajax. The striker from Uruguay hopes for the end of the transfer deadline on 1 February a dream transfer to Liverpool to achieve. The top scorer in the league of last season through his agent indicated that he was open to negotiations with the club of Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel today.

Luis Suarez Ajax's management since Saturday officially informed of the interest from Liverpool that is not through brokers but direct to the Amsterdam club's management has used to do business. Sunday had renewed contact between both parties.

Trainer Kenny Dalglish, who Sunday in the Merseyside derby against Everton, which saw Kuyt in the last minute third consecutive defeat occurred (2-2), Suarez sees the man who his team the much needed goals to start giving. At Anfield Road one is desperate now that the team has only four points above the relegation zone in the Premier League is.

Ajax were already aware that Tottenham Hotspur are seriously interested in South American was top scorer. The London club Rafael van der Vaart must first concentrate sales before joining Ajax to knock. Liverpool, by contrast, announced immediately want to do actual business.

For Suarez, Liverpool's most exciting club in England, because in selecting a large number of Spanish-speaking players sit. The Ajax player thinks the Spanish international Fernando Torres to form a good couple, as he at the World Cup with a golden combination Diego Forlan was the attack of Uruguay

I have a horrible feeling about all these Suarez rumours.
1. Whenever the site is flooded by rumours about a player, it always seems like they don't end up signing.
2. It makes too much sense, and LFC havent shown sense in recent transfer windows.
3. It makes financial sense too- even if he doesn't fit into the team, NESV could get their money back on Suarez all day long. Being seen on the world's biggest football stage, his value will only increase.
They simply cannot lose if they bid 20mill for him- it makes all the sense in the world, and all the rumours are they he'll sign.
So of course, he won't sign.
(Still got my fingers crossed though! lol)

#2 Liverpool haven't had NESV as owners before though have they. Perhaps a sensible purchase or three will be made in this window?

This is what I have been told so far today by my u19's football coach, who has had a season ticket at the club for over 20 years and built up contacts within the club over that period.
Approach for downing is now common knowledge due to sky sports confirming it on their website. Personal terms have been agreed with Stephen Warnock from Villa, now awaiting paperwork being signed by Villa. Villa will sell Downing once as long as they can by Darren Bent. Paul Konchesky HAS been offered back to Fulham. We have also made a formal approach for Luis Suarez (most of you probably know) and bid has been sent to the club, it is believed to be in the region of 17-19mil. Tottenham are PREPARING to bid £12mil for Glen Johnson. No bid has been put in for Charlie Adam as of yet (would love to have him though).
Supposedly, Kenny and Comolli are working hard to get all deals sorted by Thursday (so i guess if any of these transfers happens between now and then you'll know this is true:))
Again, this is what I have been told today. Just letting people know.

From twitter - jeremy_LFC:

#LFC will be making their SECOND bid for Luis Suarez tomorrow, after an intial offer was rebuffed late last night. LFC will NOT be looking to follow up on their interest in case the second offer gets rejected.

#lfc The figure is not known, neither the payment structure. The first offer was deemed good enough, by UKSV and was 'substantial', as they wanted the deal to be done as soon as possible.

The second offer will have an improvement with the add ons/ performance bonuses.
LFC will walk away if Ajax still decide to play hard ball.

I have it on very good authority that Ryan Babel is off to Ajax on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanant move in the summer. Liverpool had been looking to sell the players but perpective buyers have not reached the players valuation.
This may or may not pave the way for Saurez to join LFC but Babel is deff going news will break on this tomorrow as the player is due to be flying to amsterdam for a medical.
This is info I have from an individual I trust who works in football scouting and agency work and knows Babels agent Willie Haatrecht. I trust this guy and would be suprised if this doesn't come off although if a club matchs LFC's valuation don't be suprised to see Babel sold for 10 000 000 instead!
Personally I feel this is a shame but Babel hasnt performed any where near his potential at the club but in fairness never has really had the chance and the move should offer him the new start he requires. With Babel out and does this pave the way for a winger or forward to join the club? any thoughts Ed?

RedSmith

{Editor's Note: Seems perfectly feasible but I am surprised the club don't hang on to the player until he can be sold.}

Blair Mayne YNWA

{Editor's Note: The Da Telegraaf piece was taken from an English rumour and nothing else - it clearly notes "London" and again uses the hedging terminology. It would however appear that there may be interest from the club but it seems that there was no bid before the meeting between the owners, Dalglish, Comolli and others. As you suggest this may well provide breaking news later in the week.}

Rafael van der Vaart has also said he feels van Bommel would be a useful addition to the Tottenham squad.

My source is Sky Sports.

Personally, I wouldn't mind van Bommel but do think he is perhaps a little old and from seeing him in the World Cup he is a very dirty player. . Would definately bring good experience to the team though.

The paper believes that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is having the 24 year old left midfield player scouted, while Liverpool have also shown an interest in recent months. The Hungarian, who has appeared 32 times for his country, has had a good season with PSV in the Eredivisie, scoring 10 goals in 19 league appearances helping the Eindhoven club to the top of the league at the winter break.

Skysports.com understands Liverpool have made an approach to sign Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing.

The England international has impressed for Villa this season and has been an ever-present for the club in the Premier League.

He is Villa's top scorer with five goals in the league and is understood to have been the subject of an enquiry from Sunderland last week.

The 26-year-old is now being targeted by Liverpool as new manager Kenny Dalglish seeks to inject some fresh blood into his squad.

Downing cost Villa £12million from Middlesbrough 18 months ago and he has made 64 appearances after injury delayed the start of his career in the Midlands.

Villa boss Gerard Houllier revealed last month that he was confident that he would be able to retain the services of Downing during the January transfer window.

However, Villa's pursuit of Sunderland striker Darren Bent could prompt the club to consider letting Downing move on.

An offer of £18million is reported to have been made for Bent and cashing in on Downing would provide some of the funds to bring in his fellow England international.

Just got this from the Eurosport Transfer Talk:

Reds step up Lukaku chase

Anderlecht could cash in Romelu Luku after director Herman van Holsbeek revealed. "We're aware that something could happen next week. We know Damien Comolli, the new boss of Liverpool's transfer deals, is very charmed by Lukaku. We will see but it remains our intention not to let him go."

Still can't see it happening - he's a Chelsea fan, so I imagine he'll be heading there in the summer.

Hey guys

Its Faizal from South Africa.

Reported today that Liverpool are in the hunt for Luis Suarez and Shaun Wight-Phillips.

There has been talk of the transfer fee wanted by Ajax to be around 23mil pounds.

I hope this is true -well the part about Suarez anyway- but i have my doubts.

Ed, i know you don't buy into the Suarez rumor too, but from just a football perspective, i reckon torres and suarez upfront with gerrard n meireles supplying would be a rather good attack, well on paper anyway. .

Thanks guys - keep the faith - at the end of the storm theres a golden sky. . .

Shrew observations from a vitalfootball.co.uk

"Suarez to Liverpool? Quite Likely And Here's Why
If you listen to what FSG and Comolli have to say it is fairly obvious Suarez fits perfectly into the clubs criteria for new signings. He ticks all the boxes, he's young at 23, yet has already proved himself at the top level and is available at a relatively low price. The argument that players from the Dutch league are of a lower quality will hang over Suarez whilst he remains at Ajax, but performances in the Champions League and more potently during Uruguay's World Cup campaign will put those doubts to bed for many, including Damien Comolli.

The evidence stacks up that Liverpool are prepared to move for Suarez; Merseyside based journalist Tony Barratt along with others has recently stated that Liverpool scouts have been to many Ajax games to watch the player and the interest is definitely there. With Dalglish now in charge and John Henry back in the UK, transfer activity is likely over the coming weeks. It's known that Ajax are willing to sell due to financial restraints, and prices as low as £15 million have been quoted in the press. The player himself is also said to be keen on a move away from Eredivisie due to wanting a higher standard of football. Those in the know are of the opinion that a move to Spain is favoured, as we know this probably only includes Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barca's activity in the window is likely to have ended due to their financial difficulties along with the recent purchase of Ibrahim Afellay and Madrid's sports paper Marca has listed Mourinho's candidates to stand in for Gonzalo Higuain which doesn't include Suarez. The two Spanish giants seemingly out of the race opens the door for a premier league move, a fight for the strikers signature between Liverpool and Tottenham may begin if you believe what you read in the press.

Many are of the opinion that the reason we are struggling to find a back up striker is due to the quality of Fernando Torres which puts off forwards who fear they might not get game time, but then why would a move to Tottenham be more credible? A squad with Crouch, Defoe and Pavlyuchenko is surely a bigger deterrent. He could prove a perfect foil for our number 9 and fits easily into a variety of formations with a number of strikers shown by a Uruguay team that accommodates Cavani, Forlan and himself along with an Ajax team that often puts Suarez in a line-up with El Hamdaoui and Sulejmani.

Now more than ever Liverpool's need for another forward is evident and with the owners in town Kenny Dalglish could correct the errors of previous regimes with a £15 million pound bargain.

Thanks for reading."

Interesting but im still not %100 convinced, although there has been no affirming or disconfirming of interest, or any official statements. (Charlie adam's and ian holloway have came out and commented on speculation) Could this be a sign of a more profesional "less media frenzy approach?" Probably not. :)
Fingers crossed x xRed or Dead

Heard that Liverpool have contacted Cologne (FC Koln) enquiring about captain Lukas Podolski only to be told to come back in the summer because they have no intention of selling him at the moment because he is vital in their fight against relegation.

Expect Liverpool to return for him in the summer trying to sign him for around the £10-£12 million mark, He will be 26 at the end of the season and is seen as a good signing due to his versitility, could play alongside Torres in a 4-4-2 or could play off Torres or on the left wing in a 4-5-1.

Listen for the rumours to break over the coming week about us bidding for him, but i'll say it again, we didn't bid just enquired and we WILL NOT sign him this window

According to a report in De Telegraaf, Liverpool look set to win the race to sign Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. The Ajax captain is understood to have made Anfield his destination of choice with a possible link-up with Fernando Torres help swing the balance in favour of the Reds.

The 23-year-old has been monitored by clubs across Europe after setting the Eredivisie on fire with his free scoring performances for the Amsterdam outfit. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Barcelona and several sides in Italy have all been tipped to swoop for the goal-getter in the last 18 months with cash-strapped Ajax holding firm despite the temptation to sell.

Contact is thought to have been made by the Liverpool board on Saturday evening with negotiations with their Dutch counterparts and representatives of the player talking yesterday.

Suarez's current contract with Ajax runs until the summer of 2013 and an offer in the region of €25 million could be needed to lure him away from his current club.

Yet to win a match since taking charge for his second spell in the Anfield dugout Kenny Dalglish is eager to reinforce his beleaguered Liverpool squad with Blackpool's Charlie Adam and Lille's Eden Hazard also on a potential wish-list. Sport co. uk

{Editor's Note: It simply means he has not discussed anything with the owners as of yesterday. I would suggest that he and Comolli will be talking to the owners about possible targets this week and then the owners will need to consider whether or not to proceed with bids. Equally, Kenny Dalglish has said that he is prepared to work with the existing squad, looking to get Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulsen back in the frame and that they have to be careful about expecting too much of the youngsters. I have a feeling that if Roy Hodgson had said what Dalglish has said about Konchesky and Poulsen there would be screaming and kicking here this morning. I think you probably need to let the next few days pan out and then perhaps we will have a much better idea of where we are.}

Ben Smith of The Times has tweeted that LFC are in negotiations with Ajax for the transfer of Luis Suarez.

{Ediitor's Note: Why are The Times not running with the story?}

It seems the story quoted as from "the times" in a post from FCupdate.nl
See below (google translation)
"Suarez close to departure to Liverpool 'January 17, 2011
Ajax fear a serious departure from Luis Suarez. According to The Times Liverpool have officially reported at the Amsterdam club for the Uruguayan striker and sees a move to Anfield or down.
Reportedly, Ajax since Saturday officially informed of the interest from Liverpool and both clubs have been in contact again Sunday. Through his agent Suarez indicated that he was open to a transfer to English club, which currently only a few points above the relegation zone. Reasons why the club would like this month as a player Suarez add to the selection. How much to put Liverpool on the table for the striker, is unclear. His market value is around fifteen million seem to lie.

Earlier this winter, it became clear that Suarez is no longer captain of Ajax would be. Coach Frank de Boer gave the captaincy to Maarten Stekelenburg.

Spitsnieuws.nl also reports today
Suarez will definately leave ajax.
Not that it seemed the marriage between Ajax and Uruguayan international Luis Suárez there where no one could come between. Meanwhile the situation is completely different. The attacker wants to leave Ajax, writes The Guardian today.
Liverpool would have been reported with Ajax and Suárez has asked the club to seriously talk with the British. This seems to happen. After a very poor first half of the season is the peak value dropped significantly. Liverpool seems prepared between 15 and 20 million on the table for the player, and that's probably enough to the Uruguayan who last year was top scorer in the Eredivisie.
The Guardian reports that knows Suárez partly because of the impending transfer was not difficult as the deprivation of the captaincy. Suárez was even willing to play the game that he had voluntarily handed over to the band Maarten Stekelenburg.

who knows but most dutch papers and forums are runninh with the story.?? ?? ?
Most indicate that LFC (if really interested) are favs due to being playing with Torress and spanish speaking contingent at anfield (who Knows)

{Editor's Note: They are running with a story from a London based rumours site. I would suggest that Dalglish and Comolli will only be talking to the owners about possible targets this week and then the owners will need to consider whether or not to proceed with bids. Equally, Kenny Dalglish has said that he is prepared to work with the existing squad, looking to get Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulsen back in the frame and that they have to be careful about expecting too much of the youngsters. I have a feeling that if Roy Hodgson had said what Dalglish has said about Konchesky and Poulsen there would be screaming and kicking here this morning. I think you probably need to let the next few days pan out and then perhaps we will have a much better idea of where we are. All of this is far away from the suggestion that Suarez is inbound on an Easyjet flight this morning to sign for club that he has worshipped since he was a foetus.}

Does anyone know when kk is sitting down with henry, i thught it was friday.
kk said on ssn last night he is not asking for any new players and perfers to work on poulsen and konchesky. not good or is he just smoke screening? ?

{Editor's Note: What Dalglish said on Sunday: "There's nothing been discussed regarding players or otherwise. I said when I took the job, if this is the squad I've got I'll still take it". He may just be hedging his bets. Smoke screen - no}

if nothing has been discussed then does that mean all the rumours on here in the last 2 weeks are just people dreaming? just getting worried no one coming in.

MPF

{Editor's Note: It simply means he has not discussed anything with the owners as of yesterday. According to de Telegraaf in Holland today Suarez wants to leave. LFC made official contact on Saturday with Ajax and these negotiations continued on Sunday so lets wait and see what develops!

"Liverpool sign up for Suarez
Star player Luis Suarez wants to leave Ajax. The striker from Uruguay hopes for the end of the transfer deadline on 1 February a dream transfer to Liverpool to achieve."

{Editor's Note: This story is simply repeating the story from London - it is not the source but a simple reproduction of something else. May I remond you of what Dalglish said on Sunday: "There's nothing been discussed regarding players or otherwise. I said when I took the job, if this is the squad I've got I'll still take it". Of course, Dalglish could be hiding the truth from the fans.}

Ken Aguero has posted on his twitterthat Liverpool will be signing Lionel Suarez from Ajax. Lionel who's older brother Luis has been linked with Liverpool since November is set to have a medical on Tuesday. Ken tweeted "I can' believe that Lionel has stolen my opportunity to play for Liverpool. I was set to sign tomorrow, I even got my Liverpool tattoo".

Suarez who scored 2 goals in 347 games for Ajax said this about his move to Anfield. "Coming in with such a low transfer fee allows me to concerntrate on my task of warming the bench for such a player as Fernando Torres."

Lionel is set to get his Liverpool tattoo at the end of the week.

That's good the way Krygiakos was playing in the merseyside derby!

Ryan Shawcross has a clause in his contract and SAF will be alerted should anyone bid for him, so to say we have completed the signing i would say is totally untrue. My source tells me SAF has been watching his progress closely with a view of bringing him back to old trafford.

Flight Information

Arrives 10:40

It will take about 20 minutes drive to Melwood where he will finalise a deal with his agent, Comolli and KK.

£11m + Ryan Babel

Babel has already agreed personal terms and is ready for the transfer to go through, everything is waiting on Saurez

Well the flight exists so guess we have to wait to see if it's true. Who's ur source?

This whole Suarez rumour is just a smoke screen. NESV have lost pocket on Roy's compensation deal and are therefore selling Babel to Ajax for an undisclosed fee to cover their loss.
Suarez has been used as a media spin to con the Liverpool fans. I can guarantee that Ryan will go to Ajax but us Liverpool fans will never see Suarez coming the other way.
These Americans are NOT here for the long haul, they have bought one of the biggest clubs in Europe for a minimal fee and will not be investing in the squad.

ha ha yeah ok so u would have people believe that the club would sell a player and not replace him making our squad even thinner than it is now, , also, nesv bought the club for £300million the state the clubs in now they won't make a profit unless they get the team back in champions league and healthy profits r being made, nesv will be here for years to come, so clearly u don't have facts

While a natural wide player, a defender and a striking partner for Fernando Torres have generally been considered the most significant areas of need for Liverpool this transfer window, the team is apparently pursuing a central midfielder, Mark Van Bommel, to pair with Steven Gerrard.
The 33-year-old captain of the Dutch national team has been told by his club, Bayern Munich, that he will be allowed to leave the club for an offer of £2.5 million or higher, and both Liverpool and AC Milan have reportedly come forward with such, according to the Sunday Times.
Van Bommel has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, but AC Milan's Champions League qualification could also be a factor.
An injury crisis at Bayern could also derail the acquisition.
With Maxi Rodriguez, Lucas, Jay Spearing, Jonjo Shelvey, Christian Poulsen, Joe Cole and Raul Meireles, Liverpool has no shortage of potential partners for Gerrard in central midfield, but only Meireles has yet to make an impression thus far this season. Van Bommel was at the top of his game this past summer in South Africa for the Oranje, who lost in the World Cup Finals to Spain.
Van Bommel has been unsettled at Bayern since he was refused a two-year contract earlier this season, and he and manager Louis van Gaal have reportedly fallen out.

Ed, i know you say that your not convinced that we were looking at Suarez, rather that we were actually looking at Erikkson instead. But why wouldn't be looking at a top striker who wants to leave Ajax who has a fantastic game to goal ratio? {ed's note - we might well have been looking at him too, I just know we were defo watching Erikssen so I am assuming that the Suarez rumours come from there. Damien Comolli is currently flying out to Lisbon to finalise a pre-contract deal with Fabio Coentrao and his agent, (similar to Cristiano Ronaldo during his transfer from Man Utd to Real) to be ready to finalise in the summer worth £18.5m. It is then up to Benfica to seal the deal in the sumer.

Luis Saurez WILL arrive here in January gaurenteed. Comolli will be flying from Lisbon to Amsterdam to finalise that deal worth £15.5m and should be done within a week or so.

Warnock deal has been completed, just waiting for formalities with the FA then it can be officially confirmed.

We are trying to press through a deal for Ashley Young but Villa are reluctant to sell in January. We will offer up to £17m.

Honda won't happen until the summer. Elia isn't coming Liverpool anytime soon.

Milan Jovanovic will complete a loan move to Trabzonspor IF we can seal a deal for a winger.

The KopTalk website is well-known amongst Liverpool supporters for its financial exploitation of the Hillsborough disaster, for selling badly-faked and extortionately-priced signed Liverpool memorabilia and even for ticket touting. It is also notorious for making up stories about the club and its players – often potentially damaging – and in many cases demanding payment before allowing access to the stories.

For these reasons the site was ‘banned' from the NewsNow network some years ago and is not considered a reliable source by any stretch of the imagination.
