Jason McAteer commented on LFC channel after the game that a cheeky bid for Torres would not be a bad idea. Ed002, could you ever see this happening?

Believable22 Unbelievable41

{Ed002's Note - He is available, but I am not aware of interest and I would think there are far better options available.}

Why any Liverpool fan would want this to happen is beyond my understanding

Agree17 Disagree1

Why would you say that? Torres performances and goals served us very well and some considered him a star. Many expected that going to a Chelsea team with would be a ruin of him and I have my suspicions that the dressing room (and one or two particular Chelaea old boys) had a real impact on his confidence and performance. When the dressing room run the squad it can be tough for one or two if they are not the in crowd. Anyway that's my theory he never became a bad player over night, the move just weren't right! I'm not saying he's be my choice to bring in but I don't understand the "any LFC fan" comment at all after his performances and goals served us well. Fowler came back!

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - you have no idea what you are talking about. He was a sulky little bitch who got injured and lost his acceleration. Nothing to do with anyone in the Chelsea dressing room, more to do with two people in our dressing room that he was having problems. Which is why he became a sulky little girl and forced his way out.}

Are you serious?
I wouldn't have him anywhere near Anfield, spoilt brat.

I believe Ken Aguaro priced the said cheeky bid spot on at £ 0.00 including signing on fee and goal bonuses.

Would tevez be available eds? Be a good addition And replace suarez's tenacity upfront. Champs and prem league experienced. wouldn't cost the earth.

Believable14 Unbelievable30

{Ed002's Note - There is no plan to sell him, and no interest has been shown by Liverpool. Unlikely at best.}

Would love it if this rumour turned out to have some legs. Isn't he exactly the type of player we could do with?

Good morning all,

I read Arsenal have interest in Eduardo Vargas, I think we had interest last summer? Did we continue that or is he no longer in our sights?

Just a thought as he was highly rated and not heard much for a while, also he is a forward, 24, and at £9 mil would be an option - IF he is good enough!

Anyone know much about the player? Has our interest completely ended? Did our interest ever exist?

Thanks.

Believable5 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool at this time. There was past interest (January 2013) but the concerns at that time were his inability to settle in Europe and his work permit eligibility.}

Thank you Ed002, much appreciated.

Daniel, I must have missed that one, I am on here every day religiously and don't recall seeing any posts about him. Sorry I missed yours.

Falcao to Liverpool looks like it's on, loan move with option to buy at the end of the season

Cheers

Surely this is all pie in the sky. Whilst Falcao is no doubt world class (when fit) is he really the type of player needed?

Would be the most expensive loan ever and for a player that just wants to play for Real.

See I would understand this if it had been Sturridge who had been sold rather than Suarez but I just can't see it. Whilst he is one of the best strikers in the world, I can't see him sitting on the bench waiting for Danny to get injured, or Danny being benched for him. Our signings point towards us predominantly playing a 4-3-3, where would they both fit in? He would be a very expensive back up. I'm guessing what we'd be looking for in reality is a versatile player who can play out wide or occasionally as a striker, or just behind the striker in a 4-4-2. I can't see Falcao filling that role unfortunately. Which is a shame because having a player like him in the squad would be incredible, but pointless if his strengths would rarely be exploited.

Agree3 Disagree0

I don't really understand. Why would Falcao not fit the system?

Sturridge can play through the middle, or out wide (as for England with Rooney through middle).

And does the club seriously expect Sturridge to start, fit, for 60 odd games this season, as our only out and out striker?

Agree5 Disagree0

We should all be DELIGHTED that we're going in for Falcao! He's probably the single best available player on the planet right now. Cheer up. Support the B-Rod.

Makes sense

Why would sturridge be benched? If Falcao comes in he takes that suarez place which is lucas place atm

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt Falcao will be arriving to play in Lucas' position.}

Never said position ed, I said place! lucas doesn't play in suarez position does he?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect you have been playing on fantasy games too much then.}

Also, I would not attack people for postin their opinions on this site. If people don't post their opinions or rumours, then there is no site!

Falcao, whilst being one of the best CFs in the world, is not a versatile player. Suarez was often pushed out wide in a 4-3-3, Falcao is not suited to that position. Pushing Sturridge out to the wing does not compliment his strengths at all. Do you really think Falcao will want to move to a club knowing he won't always be the main man? Or that we will pay £12+ million to loan him for a year if it will be ineffectual to play him alongside Sturridge? If BR wanted to adopt a 4-4-2 (which personally I like, never been a huge fan of the 4-3-3), then it could work out well, but considering we've bought in a few players who can play on the wings, I'd say 4-3-3 will be the standard. I'm not saying I don't want Falcao, I just see it as being unlikely, considering we could do with a more versatile player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why would you think it would cost "12M to take him on loan for a year. That is miles from the right figure.}

18 Aug 2014 00:38:16
Hence why I said £12+ million ed, 12 is the. Figure floating around, we know it will be more

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You should not listen to figures - it shows how easily you can be misled.}

Sorry Ed, in the future, if mentioning an amount of money I will use the term "a mysterious, and unknown, but probably huge sum of money" rather than using a specific amount as an example ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sure you can do that, given how far out you are with this.}

It is a very logic argument to replace Suarez with a world class striker. The argument that is correctly being challenged, is that should a world class striker join the club, Sturridge will be benched.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't need him we've got Lambert :-)

Oh come on guys Sturridge needs to be "benched" for some of the season.

Also I hate saying this but Man City have arguably 4 World Class strikers (not much argument though from me) and they all appear settled and happy. I'd be happy with any one of those four tbh! Negredo for example in my mind is the best Spanish forward yet he will not be one of the top 2 Man City strikers through choice of the manager when fit again! But he's staying put.

I think most top players nowadays recognise a need for strength in depth and any that don't really you really don't want to buy!

Sturridge has been very good so far for us but has a rumoured history of being a bit moody if not going his way. Hopefully untrue but we need the strength in depth and such ought be tested as a result.

Simples!
