Ok mate also do we hold any interest in austin as rumours tonight we've spoken to his agent.

Unless Moreno is leaving I can't see this being true,surely we need a right back more urgently than a left back unless Moreno is leaving?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2015 06:40:09
Why do we need a right back? We have Wisdom to play there.

I see that BR has reached the limit of the number of midfielders he has been allowed to sign, and is now thinking of stockpiling LBs.

If only he played a system that required 8 midfielders and 3 LBs.

{Ed001's Note - he is working on it.}

17 Jun 2015 08:01:48
We have Moreno, who most here slate. Anyother lb? Or is he expected now to play 38 games, euro league, fa cup and league cup as well?

Liverpool want Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough to join Joe Gomez of Charlton at Anfield next term.

Reports yesterday suggested that the Reds were eyeing a move for Gomez.

But according to Goal, Rodgers will also move for England Under-21 defender Gibson with Sebastian Coates looking like completing a permanent move to Sunderland.

Again a player for the future when we need players for NOW!!

Just because we are buying players for the future doesn't mean we aren't going to eventually buy players for the future too. Just be patient and let the window play out.

We need these players for the future. I believe Liverpool want to base themself off of the Chelsea model. Buy young talent, nurture, and either keep or sell for large profit.
All wishful thinking of course

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jun 2015 22:39:47
I know it may be wishful thinking but now the likes of Ilori, Wisdom, Origi and Texiera have gained experience maybe they will be ready for the first team? If they have a good pre season and prove themselves then they may well get an opportunity. So the players you mention we are interested in will be the next crop to be purchased go out on loan for 2 years then either come back if good enough or sold on for a profit!

But like I said maybe I'm being a bit to optimistic.

Zadok, simply speaking we are not awash with cash at the moment.

The owners have provided enough, imo, funds for transfers since they've been here, but we keep spending it on future talent, not first 11 improvers.

If we're picking up this future talent for a few hundred k, or a million or so, so be it. There's still plenty left in the pot for the first team, although you have to ask why we have an academy then.

However, last season we paid £20m for a 19 year old with no PL experience - Markovic - tried him in a few games out of position, and then berated him for not performing to his fee.

Everyone connected to the club can see where the first 11 needs improvement - commanding GK, potentially a RB to walk straight into the team, a DM if Lucas (as expected) leaves and most importantly of all a proven striker who is not injury prone and can slot into our system.

Ben Gibson and Joe Gomez are none of these. They may grow into great players (unlikely at Liverpool, just ask Coates, Illori etc etc) but right now, the £6-£8m that they would cost between them is definitely better spent elsewhere - Petr Cech for £10m anyone? Do you think he, at aged 32 with several winners medals in his back pocket, would improve our first 11? You bet you're ass he will!

If we're basing anything on the 'Chelsea model' we seem to be getting it a bit wrong. They sign players with great potential that prove themselves in other leagues before being sold for a profit when they're deemed surplus to first-team requirements.

We sign young players who have less than successful loan spells, hinder their careers for a couple of years and then flog them at a loss. Not exactly the same thing.

Hi Ed 02 ! what's the latest on yevhen konoplyanka ? Any chance for Liverpool ?

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Sevilla are miffed with him for making a decision and have agreed a move for another player. Stoke are miffed with him for taking time to respond and are looking elsewhere. Galatasaray are interested. He now wants Arsenal apparently. So he is back up for grabs it seems.}

16 Jun 2015 18:25:23
I find it very strange indeed that we nearly signed him for a reported £15M only for it to be blocked by there club owner and now he is available on a free(minus the signing on fee) we have not as i'm aware made a move for him how wierd!

16 Jun 2015 19:46:27
I agree completely great player in my opinion. I think we were going to move for him we would have by now.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jun 2015 19:48:19
agreed, it is very strange we have no interest in him now he's free. and with sterling leaving - he's a ready made replacement.

16 Jun 2015 20:18:08
It's a no-brainer. Sign him up NOW!!!!!

Is there any interest from arsenal? Curious as unless walcott or oxlad chamberlain are going not sure where he'd play?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

17 Jun 2015 00:13:07
You guys are funny. I if no club can get or have gotten him now, doesn't that mean two things? One, he's trouble and two, he's a money grabber that can't be trusted. This dude is a red flag and a full of greed and I fully support the club for not going in for him. He's trouble and we should stay well away

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jun 2015 06:26:51
Where did you hear that, everyone else has positive things to say about him.

17 Jun 2015 08:37:07
What presumptive nonsense redohio. What are you basing any of that on? It's a big decision for the lad, moving to a new country from Ukraine so it's normal he should consider all his options of location, club and team.

Sorry Ed, but what do you mean Sevilla are miffed at him for?
Making a decision? How dya mean?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Taking a long time to make his mind up about the move.}

17 Jun 2015 09:24:41
Ah for not making a decision, ok. Pity for him, seemed his agent thought the Sevilla move was a winner. I can understand his reluctance to commit to Stoke though, he can probably do a bit better than that. Spurs not interested anymore?

16 Jun 2015 15:33:13
Does Manchester City's move for Patrick Roberts from Fulham effect their interest in Sterling, or do they see him as one for the future and the "English quota"?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - No.}

16 Jun 2015 12:52:49
Hey eds!
Wanted to know about the clyne situation.
Before that wanted to ask you, have we actly made a low bid for him previously?
Papers say that we had and it got rejected. They also say that we are preparing a new improved bid for clyne.
Do you know anything about it?
Thankyou

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Southampton say they have had no formal bids for Clyne at this time but are aware of the interest of Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool.}
