Hi edds. Been on this site a few years now. I'm always checking up on this daily. So my question is, what are the chances of Liverpool getting Alan Dzagoev. Been having a good euros. He fits into liverpools recruitment policy. Does he deserve a player profile?
Thanks
Browny
{Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer. He will be available on a free transfer at the end of the year, not in the summer, if CSKA cannot strike a new deal.}

El hadje diouf had a good world cup all of them years ago

So ed/eds do you's think we have a realistic chance of getting him if he can't strike a deal with CSKA? {Ed022's Note - Unlikely.}

Wasn't great last night and don't be getting carried away because of a couple of good tournament games (El Hadji Diouf). Let BR and scouts do their homework.

Yes exactly,two good games,does'nt make a good player.Plus he will be knackerd after a 18 month long season in Russia.

Hi Eds, great site :) I was just wondering if there is any realistic chance of us going in for Leverkusen's Andre Schürrle this summer? Many thanks {Ed002's Note - Realistically, no.}

This is a serious question and I would appreciate feedback from any editor....Is there any chance that we can offload Downing this summer? Miami_Red {Ed002's Note - There has to be a chance but I don't know of interest.}

Downing And Adam will be gone. If Henderson doesn't improve he will be gone too

}Downing will improve this season.

DaveyBootle {Ed022's Note - Well he can't get much worse.}

Problem we have to find someone willing to buy them

Thnx ed022 you have caught my words.. an improved downing will still not be good enough.

The tide wouldnt take him out :-)

When you say an improved Downing do you mean he will go past a player and deliver a cross? Or going past a player would be good enough!! Somebody please explain Sterling done more in 2 cameo appearances that what Downing done all season than how comes Sterling is not old enough to get into the first team? Am I the stupid one here! Miami_Red {Ed005's Note - Sterling is too young to be a first-team regular. He is nowhere near ready physically and mentally to play at such pace, intensity and physicality week in week out at his age and fans at LFC need to stop deluding themselves and thinking that he's going to be playing all of these games next season. He'll get chances and appearences which is good, but he won't be playing week in week out. He's not ready.}

Downing is not suddenly going to improve! He runs in straight lines and is totally predictable and does not and never has had an eye for goal. He is hardworking and honest player but technically not good enough for the level we require.

Sigurdsson turns down Swansea, He plans to have talks with Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Man United. Fee is agreed with all 4 clubs. Spurs also had a fee agreed before Redknapp was sacked.

Am I missing something, why are all these other clubs suddenly interested in him? Surely they would've declared interest already irrelevant of BR leaving Swansea?

Wow that almost half the premiership? Wonder if Everton had agreed a fee before Tottenham showed any interest in Moyes!!

Who's to say these teams weren't interested in him? The only reason our interest has been publicised is because the press seized upon it when BR took over. Even if they weren't interested before, all the noise that has surrounded this story in the last 2 weeks would've been enough for at least one of them to lodge their interest; especially at £7m

Rich P

Utd just signed Kagawa to play in the hole plus they have rooney welbeck and hernandez so i seriously doubt he would sign for them.

They've been interested for a while I believe. Utd wanted to sign him last year for well over 10m but it dlfell through. Utd might be out of the running after signing Kawaga but Fergie might still go after GS just to spite tge Reds. Fortunately it feels like it's our turn after Utd did the same to us last year, and maybe he'll remember how well that worked out for him and back out. Jones n Young didn't improve their team, or contribute to the medal chase- unless you're counting Ashleys bid for gold in this summers Olympic diving contest! Azkop

He's coming to Anfield pure and simple, the rest of your statement is utter tripe.

Lies!

Well SSN said "multiple teams"....

SLURed {Ed022's Note - SSN say a hell of a lot of things don't they?}

Agreed and the only reason why this has come up is because the source sly stated that he was talking with LFC & other teams. How it can be recorded as Newcastle Manu Utd & Arsenal without any evidence at this stage is quite miraculous!!

Sly also said Lfc were back in for Diame and the Liverpool Echo catergorically denied this. sly are not always accurate mate

The other team was reading

Sky just make this up as they want us to waste our money on betting on their fake stories {Ed016's Note - Agree everyone needs to know this}

Obviously this is all either complete garbage or it is just something that has been said to try and make LFC pay more for the player. UTD just got Kagawa (so why sig?), arsenal dont need him, newcastle have Cabaye! Its all just tosh. Anyway he has already said he wants to go with Rodgers. Everyone always panics before a transfer to make the media more exciting. I saw something crazy today about Huntelaar coming to LFC and it is all just BS

Utd started the chase for Gylfi and we only came into the discussion after Rodgers signed. That being said get lost Fergs- he's ours!

Well if we cannot sign a second choice player from the German league, with the connection he already has with rodgers, it does not bode well for any future signings does it.

16 Jun 2012 17:12:29
ed do you happen to know why Hoffenheim are so keen to be rid of Sigurdsson? thanks! {Ed002's Note - He wants to leave as he is not a first choice player at Hoffenheim.}

Mmm, maybe we should be looking at their first choice players.

Why would he be a first team player at Liverpool

Oh great - we're signing a player for a lot of money that an average German team don't want!

great!!!

Would the fact that our ex man markus babbel is now in charge there allow us to negotiate the price a bit more or would this make any difference?

Why's everyone so negative?

He might not be 1st choice in hoffenheims team as he might not suit their style of play. He has proved with swansea that he can cut it in the premier league, having a fantastic 2nd half of the season.

Alot of money? £7m is rediculously cheap for a player of his quality, he scored more goals than all our last summer signings put together!

Andy

We've seen what hes capable of in the premier league so what does it mater that he can't get in the hoffenheim? He is an improvement on what we have so be happy that we are signing him and stop complaining that we he isn't a first team hoffenheim player

If 6.8 million is a lot of money, then how would you describe the price we paid for carroll?

Looks like we have not learned any lessons in the past by signing the likes of voronin, jovanavic, poulson etc....!!

If hes not first choice at Hoffeinheim why are we buying him? Oh yes because hes an omprovement on Adam and Henndo who cost £30 million...Did we really spend that much on those two! And the £20 million on Downing.....doh...And then some of us wonder why the King is no longer our Manager......Miami_Red

For the love of... the only thing you should ask is will he improve our team? The answer here is yes. We can't buy Barca 1st teamers. Do you even know the strength of the Hoffenheim midfield? Or are you making an assumption?

Ba came from hoffenheim so they can't be a bad team

He did really well at Swansea and the new gaffer must rate the player even if the Germans don't. Let's stop slating him already and give him a chance.

Stop slating you idiots have you not seen him play?! at 22 he's class cheap and will only get better just give him a chance!

He is much better than adam and henderson. even if he does not shine we will not have a huge loss like we had by signing adam, henderson and downin.

If the reports are true that he's also talking to Man U, Arsenal, Spurs & Newcastle, it shows how highly he's rated. My only fear is he'll be seduced by one of the others and choose them over us :(

Well said Andy lad.

DaveyBootle

To all you so called fans slagging the guy off, heres a beautiful stat for you... in the last three seasons, he has got player of the season award at three different clubs!! 2010 at reading, 2011 at hoffenheim and 2012 at Swansea! not bad for a 22 year old! Trust me... he will only get better. lets get behind him and support him. YNWA

Give the lad a chance and let's definitely give Henderson time he will come good as for Charlie he's a good player but not good enough for us YNWA.

What makes you think he'd be 1ST choice
at liverpool, should'nt he have to earn it,if he couldn't be 1st CHOICE for
HOFFENHEIM it doesn't bode well for us,
perhaps swansea is his level......

auntie annie......

Sum managers make average players better,by giving them confidence,playing a certain way,that kind of thing.Sigi is a good young player who will get better and better,with better players around him.For £7m we could have a real gem in our hands.We paid the same for Adam last season,and WE ALL knew he was not going to get any better.Now we all want rid of him.So who cares that German crowd don't want him.There loss our gain!

Podolski wouldn't get in the England team but gets in the German.
Sometimes you just fit in a team or league. Doesn't mean your a bad player.

Liverpool open talks with Hoffenheim over move for Gylfi Sigurdsson and deal could be completed as early as next week.

Eds,
Any new rumors that u want to share?

-Heard that B.Rodgers want to find another deeplying playmaker.His 1st choice of course Joe Allen but he cannot sign him. Is possible for Marvin maartin or Ever Banega? Banega still injured?
-Rodgers said he will give J.Cole chance but if Gylfi is signed, im sure gylfi will be 1st choice to play behind striker. Right?
-Heard that A.johson available for 10m, another possible target?
-we can cross lewandowski,l.d.jong from the list. Any other possible target? Adrian or soldado?

Jimmy'lfc forever. {Ed002's Note - Marvin Martin will very likely join Lille. Cole may well be assessed. Banega really does not like a sensible option. Cole will be assessed but I don't know what tactics Rodgers will use and you need to think about a squad rather than just a team. The olthers have all been discussed.}

Why is nobody talking about Demba Ba, out of favour, 7 mil, not to mention what kind of a finisher he is ? {Ed022's Note - Because he wouldn't cost Liverpool 7 million.}

Ed002 Think you talk a lot of sence so do you really think that at Coles age, and on the wages he is on it makes any sence bringing him back, if there is a chance he could be sold now before we end up stuck with him for a few years on the wage bill and youngsters desperate for a start.
RNred {Ed002's Note - He is a Liverpool player so unless the club wish to ask JC to accept freedom from his contract at Liverpool in exchange for the money owed to him he has to return, at least for a while. I would think he would accept a trade to let him roam once more as a free agent which might help facilitate a permanent move to Lille or a lucrative deal in Paris. Other options (Reading, West Ham, perhaps even Fulham) in England would possibly be constrained by the financial considerations. I suppose clubs such as Aston Villa and Sunderland may be interested but if he were to move to another club in England I am sure London would be the preferred destination. I would doubt the family would support a move further afield. I wish him well, Liverpool picked him up on the back of some serious injuries and the year in France has been successful – which bodes well for Liverpool if he and Rodgers could make a go of it.}

My friend has just returned from portugal and has told me theres alot of interest in freddy guarin from liverpool,what do you think eds? {Ed002's Note - Your friend is teasing you. Guarin has already joined Inter Milan.}

16 Jun 2012 15:42:48
Just a thought from watching the Euros'.......not MOTD fever and fully appreciate tournament form can often not translate to club form (eg. El Hadj Diouf!) Ed's, opinions on Gebre Selassie...if Glen leaves could he be an option? Only 25, decent on the ball, attacking, 6ft and would be available at a reasonable price I would have thought. Plus a quality name!
Leffeman101 {Ed002's Note - No chance. Sorry.}

Ye mate he looks a good player but just going back to el hadji diouf g houllier was our manager at the time we actually signed them before the world cup houllier been french knew the french league well and diouf and diao both had great seasons with there clubs in france so we didn't sign them because of the world cup,PJ

The only thing good about him is the name- I thought he was very poor

He´s really great... would be very interesting to se him at Reds

Why not Eds? Hes a good one! {Ed001's Note - we can't sign every player you think is good mate.}

Wow he wasn't that good. he just makes up 1/4 of a terrible defense

In overall games Johnson's played better but I do like the look of Gebre tbf

16 Jun 2012 16:29:07
hi eds. this might ave mentioned but is there any news on borino, seems a decent player. {Ed002's Note - I doubt he will be looking to return to England this summer.}

LIVERPOOL FC have opened talks with Hoffenheim over signing Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Brendan Rodgers is eager to make the Iceland international his first capture as Anfield boss and Reds officials were yesterday believed to be negotiating a price for the midfielder with the German club.

Hoffenheim are understood to have quoted Liverpool more than the 9 million euros (around £7m) fee Swansea had agreed for the former Reading man.

Sigurdsson had been set to join the Swans, where he spent the final months of last season on loan, after the South Wales club agreed to pay for his services.

However, Rodgers' switch to Merseyside prompted the player to rethink his future, with Sigurdsson now reportedly eager to link up with his former manager.

But the Northern Irishman yesterday said: "First and foremost, Gylfi is a Hoffenheim player.

"I wanted to sign him for Swansea but, like I've said to him and his representatives, that has to be his first port of call.

"If he comes into the market for whatever reason – and I'm sure there'll be a number of clubs interested in Gylfi – then of course I would like to be in a position to put our case here at Liverpool to sign him.

"But I've always said I think he's a player Swansea have had an agreement with and they have to have every chance to try to sign him. That's only right.

"If anything changes from that, we'll look at it from there."

Irish eyes

Honestly - WOW, where did you read this? surely not all over the internet - thanks for that never crossed my mind to read the sports news.

Unfortunately Irish eyes have seen some week old news.Never mind,keep smiling.

krasick to the reds. yes or no ed. {Ed002's Note - Perhaps. Juventus will be open to offers for Krasic and Joksimovic has been trying to get as many clubs as possible interested including Lazio, Liverpool and Spurs - and he has had success with all three showing interest. Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, West Ham, Villarreal, Sevilla, Zenit St Petersburg, Fenerbahce and Anzhi Makhachkala have a confirmed interest in the player although I suspect Dortmund will drop their interest. Marseille would take him on loan but I doubt that would suit Juventus. Liverpool and Fenerbahce strike me as the most likely destinations for him right now but perhaps by tomorrow it will be Lazio best placed to sign him.}

If krasick is so good why would Juventus let him go, i think his overrated. {Ed002's Note - He has been, shall we say, a little unsettled there this past year.}

Why is that Ed?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - He struggled with the concept of being a squad player and on the bench.}

Ed002 why might lazio be best placed to sign him by tomorrow? thanks. {Ed002's Note - Lazio are going to try and put an acceptable offer together .}

Villarreal? divison 2 team? doubt he wud go there

16 Jun 2012 14:45:09
Is Roque Santa Cruz a possible target, he'd be cheap, can score goals under the right manager and could improve our team. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool.}

With Aurelio leaving the physios would something to do, so let's sign him then.

16 Jun 2012 14:23:09

A lot of people who seem to have good info on west ham are claiming we have beat them to the signing of krasic? anything new on this topic ed? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

16 Jun 2012 14:15:39
City may now turn their interest to Agger after some tremendous performances in the Euro's. Oldham Times

Ah yes the mammoth of world new the oldham times!

Thanks for the insight Roberto.

I say if a 20 million + offer comes in then get him. he is amazing but is really injury prone. if it isn't a huge offer then i would keep him as we will have to spend big to get a suitable replacement for him.

City want anyone that has had a good game, its not news.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to sign four players, primarily creative players.

He has been in contact with Hoffenheim for the transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson. The fee will be slightly higher than what Swansea agreed with them (because of a clause in their loan) but not too much higher. It looks like a done deal.

Also the agents of Iker Muniain and Daniel Sturridge have been in touch with Rodgers about possible moves, they were wondering if we would be interested in their client, turns out he has a fancy for both.

Franco Zavaglia has spoke to Rodgers aswell about the future of Aquilani. Alberto wants first team football, Rodgers cannot guarantee this. There was a mention of a contract termination however Liverpool have declined this offer. Either he buys himself out, he stays or we get a suitable offer. No more loans, I can assure you of this. We are after a midfielder if Aquilani goes which is nailed on after our bid for Asamoah on Tuesday.

Rodgers is not fannying about, let me make that clear. He is at Melwood every day, he is working so hard to get it right.

Cheers.

Majority of this is lies. We havent been in contact with Hoffenheim as Sigurdsson has to meet with Laudrup before we make a move. And as for BR being at melwood every day, hasnt he been on holiday for like the past week?

We don't know that BR hasn't spoken with Hoffenheim - he just hasn't spoken to Sigurdsson about personal terms yet. Additionally, BR was on holiday a couple of weeks ago, so it appears he was back at Melwood last week (from Monday 11th) {Ed002's Note - Rodgers cannot speak to the player without the permission of Hoffenheim.}

ED002 - exactly. The original poster stated BR had been in touch with Hoffenheim, not Sigurdsson. There's nothing preventing him from doing that to agree a fee in principle, even if he won't act upon it until Sigurdsson has made his final decision {Ed002's Note - Correct.}

Muniain is scouted by barcelona as a wounderkid I don't think he will go to liverpool with those clubs interested

Sturridge is the opposite of creative.

Muniain is no way coming to LFC. Sturridge would degrade the team into the complete opposite of Rodgers philosophy.

16 Jun 2012 13:36:04
So far we have not been linked with 1 player who would improve our first 11

Kalou, Moses, De Jong, Siggurdsson, Caulker, Diame, Roddelega, Berbatov, Bendtner...

What has happened to our club?
Are we still considered a big club?
Is Rodgers capable of getting in the right players to get us back winning titles?

I personally think he's small time and thats why were been linked with rejects and free transfer.

I would of rathered Laudrup, Martinez or Rafa. Brian ynwa. {Ed005's Note - You sir, are an idiot. So basically, you are believing that the players the lazy journalists make up in their offices are actually targets? Lets just wait and see what happens during the transfer window.}

Are you having a laugh, all them players on that list are a improvement on that s**tty squad you have got!

Chris MUFC

"Get us back to winning titles" LMFAO, we haven't won a title since the 80's my son. No change there

Totally agree Eds, how can you complain about players who havent even been signed yet. Rodgers hasnt had the job a full month and this guy is already calling for his head. A little patience and I think we'll all be very happy come August

What a poor take on the goings on in the club, and if you watched last season a player like sigurdson would have improved us no end, struggled for goals from the midfield, he would have solved that problem.

Kalou- Effective bench player who pops up with a fair few goals (though personally not to my taste)

Moses- A fast quality winger who may not have what it takes to be dominant on the wing just yet but in 1-2 years will be quality

De Jong- 50 games, 32 goals, enough said

Siggurdsson- 17 games, 7 goals 3 assists and premiership proven with Rodgers, again enough said

Caulker- Quality young cb with bucket loads of potential.

Diame- Free transfer, nice back up for Lucas

Rodallega- Haven't seen him linked with us since January?

Berbatov- still has it, would score a fair amount of goals as shown this year with United and last season finishing with 20 goals and wasn't started from January on

Bendtner- Media making up stuff obviously what with Caughtoffside and talksport the sources, really?

1 player that woul improve are starting 11 lol. Sig scored more goals and had more assists than Henderson and only in half a season at Swansea. Moses had more goals and assists at wigan than downing did at Liverpool. De Jong score more than Carroll did last term. That's 3 already from the players you have mention. Then the players you haven't tello etc if we get any of these players they will greatly improve the squad.

Rodgers even said that we were being linked with everyone under the Sun. This to me means that he isn't even considering 95% of them being linked. I expect Sig to come in but not many of the others you mentioned.

BthekingB

Perhaps a number of those listed would not improve our current starting 11, but players like Sigurdsson, Luuc De Jong and Caulker are all young, with great potential.

There seems to be a fascination on this site to seek to bring in any Tom, Dick & Harry from the continent, just because someone says they're the next big thing and attract a big price tag. Please don't let us be like Chavski or Citeh, buying any big name in sight without a clue how they will play together and what the long-term strategy is.

The very fact that BR hasn't named names, or rushed out and bought someone to 'please the masses' means he's intent on doing this his way and build something sustainable. I feel more confident by the day that he's the right man for the job and its about time we knock this negativity on the head.

IBWT (In Brendan We Trust) YNWA

And a cad and a bounder

Three years of steady decline and no champions league football. Honest question what world class player would join us right now?
I'm not bashing the club but we have to look at this realistically and say we won't be able to compete right now with champions league teams so we have to look elsewhere. Our history is no longer a selling point to many young players today as our recent sucess isn't great.

Whilst some of the names linked are not exactly very exciting as mentioned they might just be paper names. Just wait and see and support who ever comes in.

Billy

Well said ed!
Greaty

Ha I just knew there would be at least one muppet who thinks Laudrup would be a better manager than Rodgers , cant you see that there will be a huge improvement over the next couple of seasons .
redforever

I like you Ed005, you just say it how it is.

Jolly Red

Ha ha well said mr editor, to funny man!

I have a tendency to agree with a lot you've said. we've taken swanseas unknown manager (brendan rodgers) and swansea have hired michael laudrup, theres something not quite right about it. i hope liverpool know what their doing, because to alot of people it could look like swansea are getting the better deal

It is an idotic post from a fickle armchair supporter. De Jong is highly sought after as a massive signature, the lad has a higher goal scoring record at a younger age than Suarez did in the same league but with a weaker team. The original poster must have though we meant Nigel De Jong all this time.
Sigurdsson is a young attack minded midfielder that links with his forwards and wingers very well, creating space for others or shooting himself.
Diame a good free agent at only 28 and a decent holding midfielder.

I wish people would get out of the media's arse and begin to look beyond. Also, too many people are putting emphasis on the name or fame of the players linked, Rodgers doesnt work like that, he looks for a style of player as opposed to a more renowned player. Players who fit his style of play are looked at regardless of whether we have heard of them or not, he does not sign a massive name to please the fans.

The glory days will be back my friends.

Anfield Andy

We heard that big managers did not want to work under the dof/sd structure. So we were happy to see a relatively less experienced manager as there was an anticipation that a more experienced and widely known person will oversee him. Now we can see that the inexperienced person is in full charge, and there is no strucutre! Something is not right, is it? I try to be an optimistic, but the american owners are quite enigmatic at times.
I like BR personally and I really want his style of football to be a success. However, it is very unlikely that some of the current squad players particularly the ones bought by KK/DC would fit with that style. It will be interesting to see how BR builds up the squad. We will be having busy schedules next year and a depth in the squad is an imperative.
Finally, some fans can already see the marks of improvements although nothing much has happened since Kenny left. i really hope some transfer activities are just round the corner not to convince people like me but also to make some real step towards improvments.

He'll get us playing good football,and for me,thats a good start,i'll watch win,lose or draw,as long as theres 100% effort

You might just be able to sign one of these players NEVERWONPREMPOOL.

Sorry fella! but im afraid its people like you who are a classic example of negativity and delusion that has crept into our club you should be ashamed to call yourself a liverpool fan and instead of staying up all night reading four four two and playing championship manager how about getting behind the club and backroom staff..........wake up!

These idiots don't deserve to be a liverpool fan..well said ed..great job!

Yes, on first sight, it would appear odd that FSG opted to go with Rodgers (without a DOF), when that was (supposedly) the reason others turned us down. However, I think its not so straight-forward as to say Rodgers has the total control others wanted. They've already stated that a 'technical team' including Rodgers will review the options before a final decision is taken. I wouldn't mind betting this came about because Rodgers brought the idea to the table when he was interviewed for the job. After all, why would FSG suddenly opt to drop the DOF, when they were clearly in the market for someone to fill the role? This is why Rodgers got the job and Martinez didn't. After all, how many of you have been for a job interview and been asked why you should be appointed and what you bring to the role? Rodgers is a smart cookie and knew that in order to land the job, he had to have a solution that suited all parties, whereas others (like Martinez) didn't. I bet they're kicking themselves now that they didn't think of it though...!

Rich P

We will see but them players being linked are simply not good enough.looks like more average players coming in yet again

Yea the eds is correct you sir are a tool!

So u wud rather we had rafa who got it wrong, Martinez who got it wrong all season and laudrup when we have possibly the next special one as manager who is gonna get it right with footballers not players who r in it for the money? I think u need ur head checking. And fyi yes we r a mid table club who will work our way back to the top not buy our way back. So shut it and back him!
The dark red.

Lol ed you crack me up man haha

16 Jun 2012 13:20:19
Would you prefer Matt Phillips or Milos Krasnic Ed? The play in the same position for similar prices. Cheers {Ed005's Note - I would prefer Krasic because he can come in now and do a job and help us get back into the CL - and he is cheap. Phillips is a good player though and perhaps one to consider in future.}

16 Jun 2012 13:17:43
hey ed's/macca...i read in bleacher report that Andy Carrol may leave...is that true??
Red 4m India {Ed005's Note - I think Rodgers will keep Carroll personally.}

Bleacher report is the new caught offside. It's literally all s****nts.

davethebutcher

After his performance for England last night, I think there's little chance he'll be sold. Not only did he score a great goal, his chasing and harrying off the ball was fantastic. If Kenny achieved nothing else last season, he made great strides in converting Carroll into a more rounded footballer and I'm sure BR will look to see if he can make him work in his new system of play

Just took to long to do it.

He is without doubt a great player it is just everyone who supports liverpool seem to have no patience if a player hits a bad spell its get rid of him. and king kenny was saying how he went through a barren spell in the early 80s ian rush didnt have a great start to his liverpool career this happens they are only young lads with massive pressure but anyone who knows anything about football can see that andy is a big talent so lets hope we keep him give him the real chance he deserves.

Daglish Definately improved AC as a player . According to an ex legend King Kenny was also responsible for turning Rush into the awesome player he was back in the day when we won everything !

Bleacher Report ROFL! You know that's just a bunch of average Joe's putting their 2¢ in, right? Carroll isn't ideal for BR style but he will be kept until we can get maximum return on his transfer fee. Unfortunately one goal vs the Swedes hasn't changed his valuation, especially considering how poor he was at pressing, tackling, and marking in the box. Who knows maybe Rodgers can whip him into shape and with some discipline he might be a better fit for us or a worth more to another team, but either way he won't be sold until the picture comes into proper focus. hi eds, just wondering what are the chances of liverpool signing kalou are he is fast skillful
and he has proved his self by getting into the first team of a cl winning side ? cheers eds brilliant sit btw
{Ed002's Note - There is a chance but there is interest from elsewhere as well.)

Such an average player! would rather have downing on the wing or Bellamy up front..

BR is going to continue the philosophy of FFG and sign predominantly British players. He will focus on midfield and attack. Only replacing defenders should one leave. His four ideal targets are Sig, A.Johnson, D.Sturridge, and T. Wallcott.

This will inject some pace, agility and creativity in to the play. They will be looking to spend net 30-35 million after sales.

Jambon

Sig ain't English numpty

I do not think the philosophy of FSG is solely British players - it is to sign young rough gems, refine them and sell them at their peak for maximum profit. But please do remember that we can only have a maximum of 17 foreign players so Homegrown players are needed.

Jolly Red

Sig isnt British your right. thats why i said predominently. FFG and BR are stupid enough to rule out everyone who isn't British. Read properly before commenting
Jambon

Wallcot? almost as if he's scored a goal recently, the way everyone now thinks we're linked with him.

Load of BS Jambon.Purely your own misguided opinion.

Jambon, It is clear that you have the cognitive capacity of a jumbone, and clearly believe that you actually know anything and everything... Only one of the four players you have listed will join, and every man and his dog already know that!

It was Dalglish's mistrust of 'them there foreigners' that meant we signed British carp.

Bull.. enough said

It would be roughly around £52mil for all of these? Johnson(£15m),Walcott(£15m),Sturridge(£15m),Sigurdsson(£7m)= £52m, let's say that's true, then how much do you really think we're going to get back from player sales unless we sell a big name like suarez for £30m+? The player sales that we would generate from the ones that are currently "on the market" like Maxi,Aquilani,Spearing etc are not going to raise £20+ million

16 Jun 2012 12:11:43
is it true that Gaston Ramirez is on his way to anfield?

Twitter?

Yes, he is in the back of my taxi

I pray he is but its doubtful with Citeh around

Hope so

trev d

Im a bit of a fotball looney, and every year i have my "dream" target. This year is without a doubt gaston ramirez, so i can assure u he will not come, cuz in 20 years supporting LFC i have never got my player :(

Morientes and Torres were once my "dream targets"

Cisse, suarez and aqualani were my dream targets

I wanted plattini when i was a we lad.but i suppose italy had the biggest players back then.

I wanted Cantona before he went up the road.

Nobody wanted Phil Babb.

16 Jun 2012 12:05:44
ED's could you possibly let me know is there any interest at all in either James Rodriguez, Ivan Piris or Giovanni Moreno, sorry to just throw some names out there but finding any information at the moment on Liverpool targets is impossible I know Ed002 is aware of some south American players we have interest in. Also see Man U have signed another young South American striker, it's about time we got into that market.
RNred
{Ed005's Note - Nothing on all three.}

Thanks for the reply Ed.And one mor quick one if I may, do you see our current Full backs remaining as BR's first choice, Johnsons depature for instance has been well speculated upon on here.
RNred {Ed005's Note - I think if Johnson stays he'll remain an important part of BR's plans however I can't see it considering his contract states he plays regardless of whether the manager wants him to or not. I think he'll be sold for that added to his wages.}

16 Jun 2012 11:59:52
Very confidently I can say that LFC are working on deals to bring two or three Spanish players to Anfield for next season...

Some surprise names, not the usual Spanish players linked with Liverpool by press over the past days...

Cheers
Armando

And he returns...

Armando? Will these signings make the people happy? Will they take us to the next level? Are you optimistic Armando?

Would be really grateful for reply.

Source? Names?

Hit us then, who ?

And 3 quality germans, says Heinz..And 3 Italians, says Roberto.

Raul garcia is linked by the mail

Armando are uu the spanish macca? no sure if your spanish but yhh Legend! and who are these players?

Cheers saamYOO

Turn it in Armando you know nothing, you're just like that Daniel fella who said he'd never post again if we didn't get Aguero haha

Even if you are right (it was a vague rumour - will they be first team / what league are they in / Spanish league or by nationality) you will still get hated on each time you post because annonymous haters love this site. Annonymous haters with small small _____ (rhymes with wells).
- Logic

16 Jun 2012 11:59:14
Ed's is there any truth in what the mail said that we are after Raul Garcia, if so do you personally think he is good enough? If he is seems a good price to pay £6.5 mil {Ed005's Note - If we are looking for cover in midfield then not a bad option but if we are looking for someone who can come in and start regularly if and when required I'm not convinced. I think it's just lazy journalism.}

16 Jun 2012 11:54:37
if we started buying players and trying to develop them before selling them for a profit we are not going to get anywhere near winning the leauge and buying players and developing them before selling them to teams like man city,chelsea,man u,barca etc then we would just be helping them to get better teams and would be pushing us futher away from achieveing our goals. i am not saying we could go out and buy players like cavani,hazard,lavezi
and others but buy players who can improve out team right now like sig,kalou,krasic,tello
cheers
lfc liam {Ed005's Note - The intention isn't to just sign players to sell them. The intention is to improve the team and if is the case in the future sell the players for a profit is circumstance means we have to.}

Improve our team right now??? And then you mentioned Kalou dear oh dear!

Mike

Buy young players to develop!! Such as Oxlade-Chamberlain and Powell? These sort of promises ring as much truth as the new stadium. It's time FSG stopped talking and start producing.

Kalou ! not good enough for chelski = nowhere near good enough for the mighty reds
Avoorochie
red til its time for bed

Dont see what the problem is with kalou he may not be the best player in the world but we could certainly do worse and a better option than playing henderson on the right and he could improve the depth of our team
lfc liam

Kalou would add depth but his wages would be an issue. No point in paying a player who's not guaranteed to start every week £70-80,000 a week.

Mikel Del Vino {Ed002's Note - Plus signing on fee which everyone forgets.}

16 Jun 2012 11:44:07
Hi Ed005, you made a really good point earlier about spotting talent early and signing quality players, before they command high fees and high wages. With that in mind do you think there's any chance we could look at Joselu from Real Madrid B? {Ed005's Note - I've heard nothing regarding him to be honest but I'm sure we'll be looking at young talent all over Europe and the UK in coming years. I was going more along the lines of someone like Cabaye just as a general example. Relativly unknown, sign for cheap, turns out to be a quality player and all the better for us on the field or from a transfer fee.}

The dilema is that for every one you spot and they develop to the first team there are probably another half a dozen or so that dont. {Ed005's Note - Doesn't have to be that way if the right analysis of players is undertook and they are considered carefully. We've managed to get some gems over the years like Agger, Reina, Hyypia or even Xabi Alonso who at £10m was cheap compared to prices today - they are all top class players. It can be done but does take effort and there is a risk element but low risk if players are relativly cheap they can be moved on easily without much loss.}

Arent we making a mistake letting Luuk De Jong slip away in that case? We've spent a year scouting him only for some other club to take him away makes me sad.

Sj

Hi Eds's suberb site.
Just one quick question. Last year there was alot of interest in Ardan Turan. Do you think this interest colud be revived for this window as i think he could do a fantastic job for us?
Cheers,
Red Ste. {Ed005's Note - I doubt Atletico Madrid would be willing to sell him.}

Fantastic player

16 Jun 2012 11:04:29
Eds/Mecca ...apart from siggurdson who else is likely to come with regards to BR choice?has any newintrest come up and are we following any old intrest....great work btw {Ed005's Note - It is very difficult to say as targets may have changed due to BR coming in. In all honesty Tello and Krasic seem possible right now, Sig as you mentioned and possibly a striker.}

Do you think we will go for both tello and krasic ed? or would it be one or the other? {Ed005's Note - I see no reason why we wouldn't have the finances to go for both. £15m for both, roughly. Maybe a tad more but nothing over the top. See no reason to be honest along with Sig would be good additions in my opinion.}

16 Jun 2012 10:36:43
All the talk of suarez leaving has gone cold. is this the case ed? what are our chances of holding on to him? Crackin site btw. {Ed005's Note - I think BR will want to keep Suarez to be honest but what happens is anyone's guess. Perhaps he will be sold, who knows at this stage.}

16 Jun 2012 09:53:07
Rodgers has asked to speak to Higuains agent and Mourinho is prepared to let him leave Real . Expect this to be LFC "Marquee" signing of the summer window.
RS

Where have you heard this from?
redtilimdead

LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD MATE

Will they be signing him in a tent?

I think this would be a good signing as he has only scored 103 goals in 220 appearances. {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

I thought we were buying him last summer ?

GET REAL

Wages would be a serious issue

Wages, wages, wages. Not gonna happen.

The only marquee signing liverpool are going to be making this summer is to keep them dry at the pre-season bbq...
Willster :)

Marquee? We want a new stadium, not a new tent! A marque signing would be welcome but the only mark FSG will shop for is Primark.

Ardos have some cracking deals on marquee's i expect brandan to make 1 of them or marquee signing early neat week before the sale ends

Aye tho br mourinho connection could be handy yi ken

Rattle your head for me lad. Do you honestly think Higuain is going to come to a club who were closer to being relegated than getting a Champions League spot? Also why would he come to scum like Liverpool when Manchester City, PSG and Chelsea are all reportedly interested in him?
Pipe down stupid Kopite.

Looks like Man s**tteh will be getting him. Mourinho wants Aguero so there could be a swap deal involved.

I heard that too but you forgot the other part of the rumour is that we're also replacing the regular 11 with surgically enhanced strippers since they're on lower wages.
- Logic

16 Jun 2012 09:14:19
Hi Eds great job.
DO you think there is any chance on Scott Sinclair? Good player and should be cheap. {Ed005's Note - There would be a chance, however BR did promise Swansea he wouldn't go for any of their players for a year. I'm glad though, because Sinclair isn't good enough for us.}

Have we not learned our lesson from last yer. Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam were average players - not great players, and they have turned out to be flops. Sinclair is an average player. We need top players at our club.

Although I agree with your comments we also have to be realistic as we are not in champion league football not do we pay man city wages and he is still young and imo good {Ed005's Note - You don't have to pay £40m to get a quality player.}

Most of last years signings were not (and will never be) good enough to wear the jersey.

16 Jun 2012 08:11:27
Have LFC ever had any interest in Doumbia? Looks like a good poacher and he has pace.
I'm worried about next year. The signings Arsenal Chelsea and United are making is gonna make it very hard for us to get CL back.

But he's got low teamwork on football manager...why would we want someone with such low teamwork.....

You can't really by using football manager as your citation.... Think the main issue is something one of the ed's said before there has been issue with Doumbia's real age basically they don't know how old he is or something like that.

16 Jun 2012 07:24:36
Diame has passed his cardio test with flying colours. DanieRed

Diame is average at best so why do you sound excited nuggett {Ed005's Note - Squad depth, and a far far better option than Spearing - that's how I see it.}

What at west ham ???? thought he was going there instead now {Ed002's Note - It will be at West Ham.}

That's interesting .I read that he was going elsewhere. West Ham I think. As Ed says ,useful squad player. {Ed002's Note - It will be at West Ham.}

Thought it was back on him coming to us?dont blame him wont want to be on the bench alltime

16 Jun 2012 06:34:04
hi eds, great site. Im prob gonna be butchered for saying this, but i hope city pay stupid money for skrtel. This is first season he has been better than average, and only when paired with agger. Sure city must dig up a nice fee, say 20-25m+ and we use that to strengthen the offence and give coates the chance he deserves, he has been patient, and to keep him im sure we need to use him more next season. And with wilson coming back we got good cover... I say sell skrtel and use the money on gaston ramirez who has been outstanding this season, can play both wings and behind a striker... Just my 2cent, any comments?

Cheers NorwegianRed {Ed005's Note - I wouldn't activly seek to sell Skrtel personally however if an above average offer like those in the region you mentioned came in I would seriously consider it, especially as it would bump up the coffers and would give Coates a chance, who I think given the right chances will develop into a top class defender.}

I didnt really meen that i hope we sell him, but i think many people rate him higher than whats reality, and if we get good amount of cash for him i think we could be better of spending them in another posision.
Good to see other people have faith in coates : )

Yeah i wouldn't mind selling him for 20-25m if he wanted to go. coates could step up along with a bargain buy like Albiol or lovren for 6.5m.

use the money to then get a top top striker like; soldado or m.suarez for £20m max.

also get a top creative player like muniain, jovetic or belhanda for 23m, 20m or 18m.

and get a midfield back up like granero or raul garcia for £6.5m

also getting tello £7m

that would total = £63m
netting = £40-45m after skrtel sale
and = £30-35m after adding the sale of adam, spearing, aquilani, kuyt, maxi and wilson.

soldado - 27
jovetic - 22
lovren - 22
tello - 20
granero - 24

I'm a strong believer in selling at the right time and now is the right time we have enough kids coming through their that we will be fine

Agree that if a stupid figure comes in sell, but to say we have good cover with Wilson is beyond stretching it a bit!

Matt b

I say let him go if a offer of 20 m comes in like you say he's been a car accident up to last season.coates looks like he could become quality and maybe get the young lad from fulham to provide competition.

Every player has his price and nobody is bigger than the club, so if someone is actively looking to leave and the price is good then goodbye its is.
I agree that he has been slightly above average this season but when he has to be lead centre half he is usless and gives away too many free kicks on the edge of the box. With Agger he has been ok but when with anyone else he is suss.
Liverbird09

Just sent a little rumour in to the rumours page i was passing melwood earlier and gave way to skrtle coming away from melwood his reg on his silver range rover reads like his name dont know the exact numbers and letters but 100% sure it was him not saying i know if hes staying or going just seemed a bit strange to me shoot me if you want

That's why he was getting married today?

16 Jun 2012 03:52:26
Eds, any chance of a move for Cabaye?

Red Ollie {Ed005's Note - No chance mate. Newcastle would have no intention of selling and if they did it would be the type of money City would pay I imagine. However getting players like Cabaye is something we will seek to do in future - players who are quality but relativly cheap and on reasonable wages. Imagine the profit Cabaye would make Newcastle now? It's good business. I'd be happy for LFC to do that.}

You must be joking if you think Cabaye would leave Newcastle to come to club on the way down. Infact I think liverpool will find it hard to attract anyone now with their new manager. I think you should start thinking about life in the botton half of the PL glory days are over at anfield for a while anyway. {Ed005's Note - A flash in the pan season and all of a sudden Newcastle are bigger than LFC? Seriously mate, think logically. Liverpool is a far far far better proposition than Newcastle for numerous reasons. It won't be long until Pardew loses a game or two next season and the chants "you don't know what you're doing" will come from the fickle Sports Direct Arena stands.}

The cheif scout at Newcastle would be a good investment for Liverpool

Like they came from Anfield last season Your fickleness? KK, what a joke, thanks for letting him speak on TV as well, served as a great laugh for everyone, except you lot of course.

Ed i think sigurdsson is this exact type of player you're on about: he is young, smallt transfer fee and small wages. he can be worth lots in the future with one or two good seasons.
derryred {Ed005's Note - Yep mate definatly and if it doesn't work out for him we can recoup most of what we paid for him and don't have to suffer a massive loss, such as we did with Aquilani for example. But I think it'll work out for Sigurdsson - he seems a great player to me and has something about him. I certainly have no objections to the club finding cheap, quality gems who play for the shirt and not the money. Although the odd exciting signing tossed in now and then wouldn't bother me..........hehe}

16 Jun 2012 02:34:24
Hey Eds, just curious if Liverpool ever look into the liga do brazil players such as Marlos, Wallyson, Danilinho or Maikon Leite. surely they will be cheap, and they are some very talented players,

Cheers

Snowy- {Ed005's Note - South America seems to be somewhere LFC are scouting at the moment. There is plenty of talent there, whether we plan to sign any of it I don't know at the moment mate.}

Swear these are just players who are good on fifa.

Someone has been playing too much ultimate team

Someones been playing fifa

The issue with buying south Americans is the work permit, because if they have not represented their country a certain number of times a work permit would be refused

I haven't played FIFA for about 12 years. But doesn't it mean if these players have high ratings on FIFA it simply means these players are good or have potential?

Turn off the playstation

The funny thing is fifa does alot of research making the game so it can be a good indicator but not always mate -ZINC

15 Jun 2012 16:04:22
Hello Eds saw Ed005 mention about Mancity interest in skrtel. But I read on a site that mancity are interested in andrea ronacchia. Surely if they get him can you see them going for another CB ? {Ed005's Note - As ED2 mentioned a while ago, City are in for a top centre-back as Mancini didn't feel as if he had enough cover there last season and he has many options I'm sure, given City's financial muscle. I'm sure Skrtel is one of a few names on the list.}

15 Jun 2012 23:53:48
Hi Ed
What is the situation with Valera, seen him play in the euros and has looked sensational admittedly not the round finished article yet but definately one to watch, is there any chance of liverpool having a bid? {Ed002's Note - Borja Valero came close to signing for Chelsea last summer, but in the end Chelsea decided against it. This year the interest is coming from Malaga and Napoli.}

I think he was on about valera Portugal?

Ed I think he means the portugal player, as borja valero is spanish and i dont think he has even been capped by spain yet but i dont know

Cheers,Zincho

It's Silvestre Varela not Valera

I think he means Silvestre Varela. The one that scored the winning goal against Denmark for Portugal. He doesn't look like a world baeter in my eyes. Just a squad player. Nothing special about him,I think he is slower than Babel but with a slightly better end product.

Didnt borja valero play for the albion a frw seasons ago?

Varela scored a flukey goal and missed a sitter in the other match. PS Borja did play for Albion.

Ben

15 Jun 2012 12:00:59
Ed005 do you reckon skrtel is inclined towards leaving for Mancity or his situation is still in the balance.
If he does leave we should hold out for 15+ million for which we could buy a CB and a back-up RB moving kelly to CB. {Ed005's Note -I think his head has been turned, that's all I would say. Whose head wouldn't? With all respect. He's in the prime of his career now and City can offer more money, CL football and better chance of success. However I think it opens a door for Kelly and Coates to step up. I'm thankful it's not Agger.}

If Skrtel does go to City. I would like to see Micah Richards or Adam Johnson. Included in some kind of player + cash deal. It could be a good solution for both clubs.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed005's Note - Good shout mate - I would like to see Richards myself I rate him highly. Wouldn't even mind a straight swap but can't see it happening.}

Not every footballer goes for the money {Ed005's Note - But they could go to play in one of the best sides in Europe, who are champions, play Champions League football, have top class players and appear to have an exciting future ahead of them, no?}

Future yes, history no, some players go to clubs with great history to make them great again {Ed005's Note - Please mate stop clutching at straws and being deluded. Liverpool are a great club, I love the club but it is quite clear many players, especially in their prime, would consider Man City a very attrative prospect at this moment in time, moreso than Liverpool.}

Ed are you sure i mean agger is by far better than him but its only a matter of time before he gets injured again

Some fans do not realise that these are all professional players. yes, they may love the club and fans. but they also have to think about their careers. i do not blame torres, mascha or whoever has left the club. as a fan i have pledged my loyalty to the club and will remain there as long as i live. but i have changed three jobs in the last 5 years and i do not blame the players who would do the same.

If City want Skrtel then send Adam Johnston plus £15 million this way.

Skrtel is in my opinion was his usual poor self last season, he scores the odd goal but he concedes so many needless frees in dangerous areas and that has cost us in so many games, i persoanlly would bite s**ttys arm off if they offered 15mill+

WE give City ,Skrtel and £15 -£18 Million
We get ,DeJong , Richards and Johnson
where do we sign

I really think Skertle would not fit in to BR style of football i.e comfortable on the ball and passing out of defence as opposed to Agger Enriouqe

15 Jun 2012 10:29:06
Hi ed005, you say that Skrtel's head has been turned, do you expect him to leave this summer? You're doing a great work, cheers, Scouserseb {Ed005's Note - In all honesty I think it will be up to Skrtel at the end of the day mate. I think we'll turn down offers for Skrtel that come in unless it is an offer we can't refuse like £30-40m but we know City won't offer that. If a reasonable offer comes in and Skrtel says he wants to go we'll probably accept it but if he wants to stay we'll reject. That's how I see it anyway. I would be said to see him go but I think it opens a door for Kelly and also for Coates who I think is going to be a top defender.}

I'd demand Micah Richards and maybe 3-5m, it's time we play hard bargaining.

Not sure what the fuss is?!
Skrtel is not world class. He tends to make some costly stupid mistakes (although in general he played well last year)
Agger is a much better player and liverpool can do better should he leave
5uarezTimes

Cannot see skrtel dislodging Lescott and Kompany?
Lee73

He is far better than lescott,

If Skrtel wants to go then let him go. Then i hope he goes and rotts on the bench. We have brough him through to the player he is today, if he has no loyalty to the club sell to the highest bidder. Honestly all he would be a city is a fringe player with fat wages. If thats what he wants good ridance !

16 Jun 2012 00:26:53
hi eds,
is it realistic for us to hope for a move for either tello or krasic as both are currently at champions league teams. if it is possible i would like us to sign tello as he has lloked like a very skillful player on the occasions i have seen him.
also, i would like to hope we are signing an out an out striker for next season, who,at the moment, would you say is the most likely striker for us? is it still luuk de jong or is there now some possibility in a move for jan-huntelaar?
regarding the players leaving, i have heard from a reliable friend that daniel agger is likely to go to barcalona this summer. i personally hope this is not true as he has looked immense in the euros and i have liked im for years. have you heard anything that would confirm or dispute this rumour?
thanks {Ed002's Note - Tello and Krasic are possible. De Jong is looking less of an option and I don't see Huntelaar right now as moving to Anfield. I would not say that Agger is "likely" to leave at all.}

We must be looking for a striker though, so who are the couple of strikers that you have heard we are interested in? {Ed005's Note - There could be a number of names on the agenda mate. Dalglish and Comolli surely had names however BR may have totally different ideas than they do so it's hard to tell. I would really like us to get someone like Soldado or Rondon.}

16 Jun 2012 00:24:59
Hi Eds
Just wondering what Dzagoev's contract situation was because there's talk of it ending some time soon? As a potential it may be optimistic but as a player who is miles better than Downing, would he be a viable option if he could be lured to Anfield?

Many thanks {Ed002's Note - Dzagoev has interested Chelsea in the past but Arsenal have shown a lot of interest this past year including sending a contingent to watch him play in Moscow back last summer. He will be available on a free transfer at the end of the year, not in the summer, if CSKA cannot strike a new deal.}

Dzagoev is available to foreign clubs within the last 6 months of his contract so he can agree a deal early and then move in January

Dzagoev reminds me of arshavin four years ago
