hi ed (any ed) i was just wonering you say there is intrest of cissoko (spelling) but on lfc website it says we are on the verge of getting him also who do you reckon is the most likely left back and striker to join lfc cheers please read this ed

ROEY RED {Ed002's Note - I refer you to the extensive discussion from this subject from earlier where I suggested that no bid has been accepted.}

the reason that we havnt bid for another defender is becuase we have got zapata and after the copa america he will officailly sign
what do thiink ed {Ed009's Note - I don't think thats true at all I'm afraid.}

Good evening Ed002 hope you are well and having a good weekend. I wonder what exotic location you find yourself in this week? I'm sure you are finding time to do a little partying at the end of long hard days selling timeshare. Anyway if you don't mind I have a question, who would you see as most likely candidates for CB targets at the moment? I know you don't usually like to commit yourself on such issues but I feel like we're old friends now so I guessed I could push it a little.
Thanks

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Chris, I figure Scott Dann still has to be high on the list.}

16 Jul 2011 23:13:23
Next signing is Aly Cissokho 9 million
Top player, young & better than enrique or baines,
Whats your opinion ed? {Ed009's Note - we are interested in the player and made an enquiry last week. I believe we could go further and make a bid for the player who is certainly available, for a fair price too. I am not sure it will cost 9 million though, or even certain it will happen.}

16 Jul 2011 22:52:34
Macca or one of the very helpful Ed's....In your opinion (or based on any inside knowledge you have on it) do you expect us to see a "big" or "marquee" signing towards the end of the transfer window, once we have shifted most/all the dead wood and free up their wages?
I'm not thinking of the Aguero's and Messi's out there, just got a feeling there will be a big player coming in if we get rid of some dead wood, sorry if this has been asked and answered already, fed up with going through the rumours to read 99% of them just being the same old story rephrased with the claim of being in the know.
Thanks
LfcWes605 {Ed009's Note - personally I doubt it. I'm afraid the board won't buy a player simply because he is "big". We only really need a left back and a centre back. I can't see more than that, except perhaps a winger, being signed.}

16 Jul 2011 22:32:41
Aly Cissokho will be a LFC player by Weds if medical goes well.
Just for the record here is some truth -
Higuain - No chance
Mata - No chance
Aguero - no chance
Familiar face - Steve Staunton
Marquee - The invisible man I'm afraid

Be happy Red men as we have made some good signings and KK will get the best out of them.
An exciting season ahead- Great site Eds

16 Jul 2011 22:30:21
hey ed's, I follow the reds day and night but seem to have missed the bit where we were promised a "marquee" signinghas there ever been such a quote from anyone at the club?also what do you think our chances of signing carlton cole, heard something on talksport earlier.cheers fella, great site {Ed009's Note - Don't drag up the Cole thing. We were linked to him in the Hodgson reign but he is no better than N'Gog and Kenny is an intelligent man; he won't be signing. The "marquee signing" is an infatuation of the fans.}

16 Jul 2011 14:25:57
Adam Johnson - £19 Million
Aly Cissokho - £12 Million
Scott Dann - £9 Million

These will conclude our summer signings

How likely is this to happen ed? {Ed002's Note - Slim I would say.}

16 Jul 2011 21:55:14
Hello Ed(s) do u think we really need a new lb for next season. I mean we have Insua, Aurelio and Robbo who can play there, not forgetting Johnson and Agger who can also cover. I dont see us needing one at this moment of time UMER(LH>CT>SA) {Ed002's Note - It has been suggested that Liverpool may hold off for a while on a LB.}

16 Jul 2011 21:54:42
H ED- ANY CHANCE OF GAGO JOINING US THIS SEASON?...EM..PROBABLY NOT...COOL NAME THOUGH? {Ed002's Note - I doubt that there is much chance.}

16 Jul 2011 21:49:10
Guys guys guys
Here it is,
Enrique is our main target and he really wants to come to us, but the valuation Newcastle have for him is still too high, so we could move for Sissokho who's our fallback choice, and at 9mil would be the cheaper option.
Expect movements either way next few days....
Mmm a little bird also has tells me that our transfer dealings are far far from over and there is going to be some amazing transfer activity over the comming weeks which will put big smiles on all our faces.

Keep the faith....
The club have our best interest at heart.

YNWA

The truth.

The thing is flop if he came here. The thing is once Mourinho has his two men, once Mourinho has his two men, Neymar and Aguero, he will listen to offers from any club for Higuain, even if it is Blackburn Rovers itself. Neymar and Aguero, he will listen to Neymar and Aguero, he will listen to offers from any club for Higuain, even if it is Blackburn Rovers itself. Higuian is the insurance card for goals incase the likes of Ronaldo get njured and thats why he is "100% injured and thats why he is "100% trusted" otherwise, he is jus an expendable player to Mourinho Hence i truly believe that the Higuain deal will solely depend on the signatures of Neymar and Aguero. Oh btw, i now feel abit envious of RM if they do get Neymar. Kid has RM if they do get Neymar. Kid has got quite some talent and should rightly be called the successor to Ronaldo(fat one). Its a pity we dont bid for him, but in all honesty, these bid for him, but in all honesty, these are players we should be linked with, not the likes of Roux(though admit he is decent), Ban
---------

Madrid are doing their best to sign neymar and expect to do so but are (for once) true to their word about aguero. They have no intention of bidding for him this year and will not buy another striker this season once neymar is signed.

Mourinho trusts higuain because he is a team player who works hard in training and lives a clean lifestyle. Believe me when I say even after neymar is signed higuain will still lead the front line, neymar will play wide.

As for wanting us to bid for him, neymar is petulant and selfish. I watched him win a penalty for santos last year and then when he was told he wasn't taking it refused to pass to anyone for the rest of the match. Talented he may be but he has a disgusting attitude which has seen him dropped by menezes for brazil a couple of times last season. We don't need that.

All this talk of Aquero, Higuain, Bastos is nothing but rumour and wishful thinking. We have need of a good central defender and maybe a fullback, but thst is it

Aly Cissokho is set to complete a 9 million move to LFC later this week. Lyon are happy with the transfer offer and are set to allow Liverpool to contact the player for contract negoiations. {Ed002's Note - I rather think folks are getting a little carried away over Cissokho a little too early.}

16 Jul 2011 20:03:19
Reports in France say Liverpool have agreed a 9 million deal for Aly Cissokho and could be completed within the next few days

Hello, Eds

You know, where in the world is Aurelio? Melwood? Injury? or be sold?

Thanks
Mala_REDS {Ed009's Note - It can only be injury or sale in reality. I would say given his record it could be a precautionary measure over small injury but I am almost certain it would have been mentioned officially to allay fears, and it hasn't been.}

16 Jul 2011 20:29:37
Sissoko due to arrive on a flight from Nice later this evening for talks with LFC tomorrow, very reliable source.

a friend of mine who follows everything about French football text me 8 hours ago that we were signing Aly Cissokho for 10m Euro on a 4 year contract...

I didn't believe the transfer price and then I go on the Reds site and it has the same rumour saying Lyon are willing to sell at a loss because they need the money...I asked my friend why Lyon would sell Cissokho and at a lower price and he said that they are going to sign Benoit Tremoulinas from Bordeaux...

Ed?s what do you think of Leighton Baines?
He is English, he?s 26, he?s quality.
I reakon he would cost around 20-26 million cosidering he plays for our rivals.
What chances does he have of becoming a merseyside red?

Paul The Gooch {Ed009's Note - He is a very good player, although occasionally questionable at the back. I don't think there is much chance of him making the move, especially to us, for under 20 million and I am not so sure he is worth that money when there are other options on the market and we have more than apt options right now too.}

16 Jul 2011 19:47:07
1-During mid-week many claimed that they sighted Cissokho in Merseyside. Airport, in a Car, mall, many other places. Any truth in those claims Eds? as I don't see him with Lyon.
2-Cannot see Higuain coming (at least not this window)as Maurinho is keeping a strong hold of him, but I do know for a fact that we have representatives at Madrid today. Any idea who we may have interest in at real other than Higuain? {Ed009's Note - I don't think those claims are based on anything other than bandwagon jumping. Who has the technical nous to go to a mobile internet site, but not the ability or sense to use a camera. I too don't think Higuain will join. I have heard nothing of these representatives - and know of no current interest in any Madrid players - but if you're being honest I suppose it could be for Benzema.}

hi ed, there are more sites claming that we are close to signing aly cissoko like fourfourtwo and espn, whats your opinion do u think we will sign him?thanks {Ed009's Note - I think we could well do, but there is nothing concrete yet, not even a bid.}

Hi eds. Saw the game 2day. Thought aquilani and ngog played well. Poulsen is an absolute joke. What r the updates on these 3. Is there any chance aquilani will stay? {Ed009's Note - If he decides he is willing to give Liverpool and the club a second chance I believe he will. It is pointless, if we take his unhappiness out of the equation, to sell a very talented player on for under 10 million euros when we spent 20 on him just two years ago. I am a very big fan of the player and I agree with your synopsis, but its important to remember N'Gog seems to do this every year!}

16 Jul 2011 18:55:09
Are we talking with Birmingham about dann or is it just speculation? {Ed009's Note - just speculation and interest at this time.}

16 Jul 2011 19:03:20
Ed i saw that about a week ago tony evens said that downing and adam would be just phase 1 of liverpools spending. But everyone is talking like we willl only sign a lb and possibly a cb. I think commolli was just saying that we need to sell first and then they will look at buying players again toward the end of the window. What do you think of that ed? PLus the owners said before jan that the summer was when they would spend and we have only spent 40m and we will probably recoup 30m+ in sales {Ed002's Note - I refer you to this mornings answers on this subject.}

16 Jul 2011 18:52:07
ED any chance [even a snowballs] of nasri he must see that city is jam packed with over paid plebs if its genuine he wants to leave the gooners , any player worth his salt can no longer think its a good destination and also see they have nearly 50 players on there books with more on the way is there not a squad limit and how do they hope to get rid of all that deadwood sorry deadforest red2toe {Ed009's Note - I very much doubt that I'm afraid.}

16 Jul 2011 18:40:09
Ed's, has there been any update on Michel Bastos? {Ed009's Note - The player would really rather not move to Liverpool, he believes it is too big an adjustment at this time in his career. I am close to certain this is the end of the matter with him.}

16 Jul 2011 18:18:01
I remember some time early this weeks someone posted that Aly Cissoko will sign on Monday, and said his source was his uncle lol..guess he was right

16 Jul 2011 18:17:22
Eds just askin do ye think we will sign a cb i know we looked at Phil Jones and made an offer so surley a cb is still on the menu also is it possible surez could play wide left with another striker of top quality bein brought in as there is a lot of posts on here sayin we need both a LM and a CF and this would cut out one expense cheers RED2TOE {Ed002's Note - I think it remains firmly in the "perhaps" column with Scott Dann being discussed.}

Hi Eds,

Just read that the below in abola (Portuguese football daily)... says we are looking to sign cissokho this weekend ? what are your thoughts. Once again thank you for a great site, and your patience with all our posts...

Portuguese Red {Ed002's Note - It is the same story picked up by another news outlet. The answer remains the same. An enquiry had been made with Lyon about the availability of Cissokho - this is about 10 days ago. Since then Lyon have gone off to a training camp in Austria where Cissokho was due to join them and didn't; returned to Lyon to train where Cissokho did not show up - albeit the club were not expecting him to; and today they have played and lost a friendly with Genk in Belgium. The fans have certainly turned agaisnt the player in recent weeks. Cissokho's agents were informed last week that they need to find their client a new club and that Lyon would listen to offers. Other clubs who have shown an interest include Benfica, Juventus and Roma but nobody has made an acceptable offer as far as I know - at least up until yesterday evening. I very much doubt that Liverpool will be completing a deal this weekend but there has been interest - which has been discussed exhaustively over the past 10 days.}

Liverpool Midfield Rumours:

Joe Cole has performed well in the Far East and his hunger, attitude and already well known technique has convinced Alan Pardew to make a £3mil bid for him.

Milan Jovanovic will leave for free and is attracting interest.

Jonjo Shelvey will go out on loan. Dalglish is unhappy with his attitude and has told him if he doesnt improve his work rate and willingness to work for the team he will be off-loaded. Bolton and West Ham are keen to take him on.

One of Meireles and Aquilani will leave.If the club receive an offer of £12.5mil for Meireles (28) he will be sold. If the club receive an offer for Aquilani (£10mil) he will be sold. The club may even decide to sell the duo and sign James McCarthy for around £12mil from Wigan. KD and DC rate him highly, as did RB when he was in charge.

The club will listen to offers for Maxi as he is on £70k/wk but will not actively look to sell him.

We will bid for Lee Chung Yong for £12mil.

Ed everyone all summer including the eds on this site have been saying we will sign at least 2 wingers. Why has this changed all of a sudden? if downing is the only attacking player signed then i will be very suprised {Ed009's Note - I have never said we WILL be signing two wingers, just that there is a fair chance. Henderson will, I imagine, be primarily played as a winger, and he has decent pace and a great cross, so that would not be at all negative. If we can sell much of the deadwood, we could perhaps see another attacker, but that is easier said than done.}

16 Jul 2011 17:15:52
Ed some people saying we will only sign maybe a left back from now on, but i think we need a lb, cb and one more attattacking winger/ foward. I think that the club are just waiting to ship players out first so that they don't find that the squad is overfilled with players. You can't ship out say 10 players and only buy in 3. Just wondered what you thought ed? {Ed009's Note - I believe we will probably sign a left back and a centre back, provided we can sell a reasonable amount of the 'deadwood'. If we manage to sell it all, including players such as Aquilani and Meireles who would perhaps bring in a more significant amount of money, we may look for another attacker, but I see it as unlikely at this time.}

16 Jul 2011 17:17:35
Ed i have been hearing a lot of stuff saying that we have contacted turan in the last 10 days about a move. I think he would be perfect for us. I was wondering if you know if he can only play on the left or can he play both sides. DO you think it is possible that we sign him ed and what sort of price would he be? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any contact from Liverpool but I expect that Arda will move this summer and although he looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. He was also recently offered to Juventus. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player. He plays primarily on the left, would cost around 20M euros and will almost certainly not be moving this summer to Liverpool.}

16 Jul 2011 17:17:33
Totally agree with Macca's post from yesterday especially in light of JH's comments about Gong and Aquaman.
Although I do believe the Cissoko deal will happen. The owner's have already splashed 50M, were not citeh. So unless we offload some "deadwood" for bags of cash I could see our summer spree coming to an end this weekend.

Ed 002 and ed 001... When you say that you know talks are ongoing with cissokho, do you mean with the player or the team? And are these talks preliminary enquiries or the preparation of a bid? Thanks a lot. {Ed002's Note - An enquiry had been made with Lyon about the availability of Cissokho - this is about 10 days ago. Since then Lyon have gone off to a training camp in Austria where Cissokho was due to join them and didn't; returned to Lyon to train where Cissokho did not show up - albeit the club were not expecting him to; and today they have played and lost a friendly with Genk in Belgium. Other clubs who have shown an interest include Benfica, Juventus and Roma but nobody has made an acceptable offer as far as I know - at least up until yesterday evening. 16 Jul 2011 14:13:11 I'm not sure if we will sign him, but I heard that there is a chance of us heard that there is a chance of us signing Higuain because Rea signing Higuain because Real Madrid want to offload strikers. Totally agree ed, I've been saying along with you guys that is not going to happen.

Cissokho is in Liverpool has been all week {Ed009's Note - we are in talks about signing the player, but it has not gone that far. Unless he is just having a look around.}

16 Jul 2011 16:46:19
Liverpool have completed the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Alexander Doni from Roma, the club has confirmed. The experienced stopper s arrival paves the way for Brad Jones and Peter Gulacsi to be sold and loaned out, respectively.
Pepe Reina, who recently underwent surgery on a double hernia, reportedly requested better back-up at Anfield so that the team s fortunes would not be jeopardised in his absence. His wish looks to have been granted as the Reds have wrapped up a deal for the man who made 179 appearances for Serie A giants Roma.
Doni is known for his outstanding athleticism and shot stopping abilities, and will provide peace of mind for the Anfield faithful who have been unable to trust any of Reina s deputies thus far.
Elsewhere, Stewart Downing is also expected to be unveiled as a Liverpool player imminently after he passed a medical at Melwood.

AND

Stewart Downing has completed his move from Aston Villa to Liverpool, the club has confirmed. The winger sailed through a medical earlier this week and has since signed a long-term deal at Anfield.
Liverpool s interest in Downing dates back to January, although they were made to wait for their man as his contract saga at Villa played out. Ultimately, his refusal to sign a new deal opened the door for the Reds to make their move and the transfer was wrapped up late last night.

AND

Liverpool are believed to be keeping tabs on Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higua n, according to Footybunker.com.
The reds, who are yet to make a marquee signing as such this season, are in need of another striker to provide strength in depth in the forward positions.
Additionally, with the new money being injected into the club since FSG took control, the Liverpool faithful are expecting a big-summer signing to consolidate their fight for the top four in the Premier League next season.
Higua n himself may find that he is forced out of Madrid, with Jose Mourinho believed to be interesting in signing front men Carlos Tevez and Neymar.
Liverpool are believed to have to place a bid of around £25 million in order to secure the signature of the striker, but if there s anything the club isn t short of at the moment it is money.

There is no doubt about it that Gonzalo Higuain is a quality player and that he would offer the team something different as we try to re-establish ourselves as a top English team once again. Signing the Argentinian would also, no doubt, be a fantastic statement of intent in terms of what we have to offer to possible other signings and will certainly make our rivals take notice.
However, the fact that at the moment Liverpool have bigger fish to fry makes us pretty sure that this transfer is unlikely. Signing a new left-back, centre-back and possibly another winger is probably what is being prioritised by Dalglish and Comolli.
With Carroll and Suarez we already have sufficient fire-power up front, especially with many youngsters hoping to impress the boss during the coming season.

Ed would I be right In saying we do not need another cb this year with agger and Carra as our first choice we have skertle and the Greek as back up with Kelly as a long term replacement for carra I think we will buy a lb and thats that . In a 442 I think Kelly will move into rb and Johnson rw in a 433 I think Johnson will b rb and downing saurez and Carroll up front if this don't work then next year the Greek will go probably skertle and if agger suffers a lot of injurys he will go that's when we will buy a big name cb plus a rw {Ed002's Note - I would have thought Skrtel would be first choice.}

Hi eds, Aly cissokho every where but kop source gone on to say fee is agreed. While no one knows that how reliable is kop source. And do we have a good chance of signing him. Thanks {Ed002's Note - It is one story that folks have gotten carried away with. That is all.}

16 Jul 2011 16:25:15
Hey Ed's for some reason My posts never show up on the site but here goes.

Is there any truth in liverpool signing Turan? I've seen him play and he is a class player but we may no longer need him. Also can you rate the likelihood of Cissokho , Boudabouz , Baines , Mata , Higuain and Dann signing. Please in either numbers out of 10 or just a Definite , Probable , Possible Unlikely or No chance. {Ed002's Note - You are perhaps not looking in the correct folder for your posts. I don't know of any Liverpool interest in Arda Turan at this time. There is a chance Cissokho may join - but mention that a fee has been agreed seems premature. Boudabouz and Mata most unlikely. Baines and Higuain perhaps a remote chance.}

16 Jul 2011 16:24:59
Ed who is going to be our marquee signing that everybody is talking about at first i thought it could be aguero or benzema then everyone sed it was jeffren now rumour has it that we are signing higuain as our marquee signing so what do you know about it and who is it ??? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure where any thought of a "marquee" signing came from. I would not hold your breath for any of these players just yet.}

16 Jul 2011 16:09:34
I know how highly twitter is looked upon on this site, but earlier @John_W_Henry t**tted "one missing link last year: aquilani. Put the ball near Ngog and the goal and its going in. Too much talk of them somewhere else."

Now we could def be putting them in the shop window, but it sounds to me like they may be staying.

Also ed002 whenever Sahko's name comes up you say there is no chance he could come to liverpool, and I was just wondering why? Did he come out and say he didnt want to play for us, or are the new rich owners not selling him at all? Hes a young cb who can also play lb, I really think we shud pull out all the stops to sign him.

Lfchad {Ed002's Note - Sakho has had a pay rise, a new contract and been made captain at PSG.}

16 Jul 2011 16:07:47
Now, withing the signing of Downing, does that rule us out with signing Juan Mata?
Cheers. {Ed002's Note - I suspect it does.}

Ed002 -- u have sorces in france so can you answer my question plz, kopsource are saying weve agreed a £9m fee for Aly Cissohko, really hope its true as he is defiantly one of the best LB'S in the world and our problem will be finally sorted.

WHICH LIVERPOOL OFFICIAL SAID THAT THERE WAS GOING TO BE A BIG SIGNING

16 Jul 2011 15:44:29
Liverpool have agreed a fee with Lyon for the transfer of Aly Cissokho, it is understood. Having missed out on Gael Clichy to Man City earlier this summer, the Reds turned their attentions to his compatriot and are close to sealing a deal worth around £9m.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with almost every left-back in the land during the current transfer window, but Cissokho has emerged as the club s top target after several other options were ruled out.
With Clichy joining City and Jose Enrique hanging around for an offer from a Champions League club, Cissokho represents the Reds best bet to fill a problem position this summer. The 23-year old is believed to be keen on a move to Anfield as he looks to make the step up to a big club, having previously missed out on a move to Milan in 2009.
The Italian giants pulled out of a deal at the eleventh hour after dental issues suggested that the player could encounter fitness problems somewhere along the line. Despite passing a medical at the San Siro, a move did not materialise and Cissokho instead joined Lyon for around 15m.
The French outfit are reluctant to part with one of their key players this summer, but boss Remi Garde has already admitted that the player is likely to leave if a big bid comes in.
Aly is an important player to us. But if an offer can match the chairman s plans, he could be likely to leave. Garde told L Equipe.
Liverpool are understood to be willing to meet Lyon s £9m valuation of the player and a deal looks likely to be complete in the coming days, providing there are no complications with the player s medical or personal terms.

Rumours are about that we have agreed to pay the 9 million asking price for Aly Cissokho. He is expected on Mersyside on monday for talks and maybe a medical.

16 Jul 2011 15:38:13
Kopsource.com claim we've agreed a fee for Cissokho but after reading earlier posts and the fact they're not quoting a source or anything I will assume its a pile of poo until something official is announced (if at all).

16 Jul 2011 15:37:40
Aly Cissokho fee agreed according to Kopsource - they are normally fairly reliable, what do you think Ed's?
PJK {Ed001's Note - all I know is we are in talks, I have not heard about any fee being agreed as of yet.}

16 Jul 2011 14:36:43
Hi eds, do you think Aly Cissokho will sign for LFC?
Just want a yes or no, thanks
Eva {Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

16 Jul 2011 14:26:57
I fully expect some players to leave this window, as our squad is almost too big now. However even with a few leaving I think we have one of, if not THE best squads in the Prem. Depth wise we have cover everywhere and big competition for places. With no Europe to worry about too we could be in for a good season.

My bets to leave are

Mereiles
Jovanovic
Poulsen
El Zhar
Degen

Cole should stay as should Aqualani. Both creative players who can change a game with one piece of
play.

I don't see us needing a LB with Aurelio Johnson Robinson supported if needed by Wilson Agger and even Carra in emergencies. Why spend £10m on a new LB.

We do I think need another striker as Carroll is still unproven for me and Ngog not good enough.

16 Jul 2011 14:25:57
Adam Johnson - £19 Million
Aly Cissokho - £12 Million
Scott Dann - £9 Million

These will conclude our summer signings

morning ed, I think One among Aquilani/meirless will def leave. Ya Aqua performed well but that still does not guarantee anything. I know u r a big fan of vargas. If we do sell or loan Aqua to Viola does we good chance to sign vargas and what do u think his price will be in the deal. Even though vargas i sold by the time he lost it we will have robinson and smith and can also learn a lot from vargas. Pls suggest the priceof vargas fiorentina would be demanding and how likely could we sign him. THANKS {Ed002's Note - I somehow doubt Vargas will be moving to Liverpool and I think a loan to buy deal is most likely. It needs to be done urgently as Fiorentina are looking for an answer for their midfield next week.}

16 Jul 2011 14:13:11
I'm not sure if we will sign him, but I heard that there is a chance of us signing Higuain because Real Madrid want to offload strikers. Liverpool were looking to bid £25 million for him.
Source: Liverpool FC Talk iPhone app (very reliable)
Any news on this Ed?? {Ed002's Note - None.}

16 Jul 2011 14:04:32
Liverpool fc are planning a shock £25 million bid for Real Madrid's star striker Gonzalez Higuian to add gloss to the team. Real Madrid are alreay linked with Tevez, Aguero and brazil's teenage sensation Neymar.

16 Jul 2011 13:57:30
Emiliano Insua will be staying at Liverpool for this season and will be our first choice Left back. Saving £10mil+ on a new signing. Fabio Aurellio and Jack Robinson providing competition at left back.

I think if we only sign one more player it will be a centre back. Scott Dann's name springs to mind, and its quite common knowledge that he's holding out for a move to Liverpool after turning down Stoke.

Hi Eds

Probably get a fair bit of stick for this, but what are the chances of Aquilani staying at Anfield?

Watched the friendly this morning and he was awesome I know it wasn't against the best of opponents but he was the best player in a red shirt

Cheers

Dex {Ed002's Note - The problem is he wants to leave and has made no secret of it. Liverpool are happy to let him go for what they consider a decent price but they cannot get it. A loa to Fiorentina looks most likely - perhaps even a sale, or perhaps even a deal involving Vargas.}

16 Jul 2011 13:49:27
Cissokho reports hotting up are we close to signing him or have we held more talks? {Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed. One article mentioned the interest and this is the steamroller effect.}

Comoli says we are nearing end of transfer activity(ssn) so maybe one more signing? What do you make of this ed?

Hi EDS, Watched the friendly this morning and thought Charlie Adam looks like being the signing of the season to me. Think our young full backs (Robinson and Flano) look quality too. And never thought i'd say this but Aqua man looked really good. Still don't think he'd cut it in prem and will be sold (probably to Fior). Is there anything in the rumours of Vargas? I do think we need a quality left back but can't ignore the progress of Robinson. He is superb. I like Aurelio too when fit. Vargas would be class though, even if he does prefer to play further forward

When DC was asked will there be any more signings this is what he said......... It's difficult to say. I'm sure there will be players going out because some players would like to play more and have more minutes. We will probably have a few loans as well, players who we would like them to develop, into the Championship or the leagues abroad. In terms of players coming in, it's difficult to say. I think we are going to sit down, look at the situation, see where we are, see who might leave and then we will reassess later. But we have done most of what we wanted to do.
Ed what do you make of that? {Ed002's Note - I refer you to earlier answers.}

France Football reports that Aly Cissokho is close to reach an agreement with Liverpool.

16 Jul 2011 12:51:21
I have it on very good authority that Villa are not the only club to have lodged a bid for N'Zogbia - Apparantly, Liverpool have made a £10.5m offer for the player, despite having bagged Downing.

By all accounts, KK and Comolli see him as the type of versatile player we need, being more than capable of covering several positions, including left back, where Johnson will contiunue to play, with options of Insua (who is 100% staying), Wilson and Aurelio -- Saving significant funds on signing a left back (having bee quoted £18m for Cissoko).

N'Zogbia will be signed confirmed by Wednesday.

This will leave just two more signings, being a centre back and forward.

Dann seems to be a viable target but I understand we are also looking at Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg (who has not settled in Germany and comes highly recommended by Agger) who may be part of a swap deal with Joe Cole going the other way (plus c£10m).

Up front, we are looking at a number of options, with KK looking at both: Defoe (Spurs) and Long (Reading), both of which he believes he can bag for c£8m.

Leaving, with be Spearing (Wigan on loan), Cole (Wolfsburg or West Ham), Ngog (Newcastle) & Aquilani (Ath Madrid / Juve).

Finally, I believe Kk will be happy to go into the new season with the above signinings, but the owners will show their commitment to the club by offering him the option of a 'fan pleasing' signing, which, if it happens, will be a deadline day buy and, if it happens, expect it to be big

16 Jul 2011 12:26:36
I know this is abit silly to ask as Liverpool are packed with Central Midfeilders... but Ed.. Is there anymore news on Moussa Sissoko? i Was Really hoping we would sign him.
is there any chance?
Maybe with Aquilani , Poulsen and maybe miereles Leaving could there be a chance? thanks {Ed002's Note - There is a chance but Manchester City have now approached Toulouse and interest remains from Napoli and Genoa. It will certainly be less likely than it was.}

16 Jul 2011 12:26:34
Do we really need a new left back? Since Insua has come on he's set up 2 goals and put a couple of other good crosses in too. Obviously not tested defensively much this second half but he should definitely be given another chance to shine next season.
Could spend the money securing another CB & winger/forward
JB

16 Jul 2011 12:12:48
Ed do you think it's bull that the signings are nearly finished? Corroll looked sloppy the first have and will need time to settle but if he doesn't hit the ground running we are in trouble without a quality back up striker LB is a must CB we have no pace so this is a must And maybe another winger for debt if we want to challenge I think these are what we need Poulson must be invisible today hopefully he misses the plane home Dub Red {Ed002's Note - Please refer to earlier answers on this.}

16 Jul 2011 12:12:30
Cissoko is deffinately a target for us, but please don't go around saying he will sign for a amount under £15M. That's is the minimum Lyon want. So please don't go around with such figuires like £9M, which seems to be used a lot. Also, as I keep saying, we have a definite interest in G Higuain, so please don't go and say that it's rubbish, yes it looks unlikely but there is still a chance. Same with Mata (looks even more unlikely now Downing has joined us now).

I have reliable sources.

Thanks, James.

It is being strongly touted, within the French Media, that Aly Cissokho will sign for Liverpool on a 4 year deal for around 12 million Euros in the next few days.

16 Jul 2011 12:07:20
Aqualani is a better footballer than Jay spearing by a country mile.Why does so many people want rid of him. I think Kennys style of play will bring the best from him. {Ed002's Note - Aquilani wants to leave Liverpool and the club are doing what they can to grant his wish.}

SSN are commenting that DC has said that Liverpool's summer spending is coming to an end. I presume a left back will be signed and maybe a centre back. All of the rumours of Higuain, Mata etc are rubbish, we have signed some quality players and we should be happy with the work done.

16 Jul 2011 11:35:03

Aqualani is bound to leave, however Meireles and Cole could see another season at LFC.
Meireles proved his quality last season and Cole would be a very useful player off the bench.

since man city want nasri and Aguero could you see us placing a bid for Adam Johnson with all the signings we've made?(great job with the site btw) {Ed002's Note - I think that it is not likely at the moment. I am also not so sure that Manchester City will get both Nasri and Aguero.}

Liverpool FC Remaining Signings

Aly Cissokho (Lyon) £9.5m - Within 2 weeks
Juan Manuel Mata (Valencia) £22.5m - Within 4-5 weeks

That is it. Don't expect any more than that. No Higuian, no Aguerro, no Kaka etc.

I Know a guy who works for lfc tv, i see him most days, we have a quick chat about liverpool, he tries not to give much away.

The day we agreed fee with villa for downing, early in the morning i said, can we expect any deals today and he replied with a big grin, "ooo You'll have to wait and see" sure enough later on sky sports released the news.

The following day, he said to me that we will sign doni that day as he has agreed terms.. Happened the day after but still correct.

Yesterday i asked him if the higuain rumours were true and he said NO.

i believe this guy, so lads, dont bulid your hopes on him coming to us.

HI ED i dont no where these sources are coming from with regards to aly cissokho joining as lyon have got a new manager in remi garde and he has publicly spoken and stated that he does not want to sell the 23 year old and if he is bidded for it would take a very large bid for the club to even consider it as has been there policy over any transfer that has arrived from another european club they try to get as much money for them as possible.My sources tell me that liverpools next action is a centre back or 2 i have been told that kk is making a big move for simon kjaer and youngster vincenzo camillieri and on the left back front loan signing of maxwell from barcelona watch this space and i still expect ryad boudebouz to join from sochaux

I said about a week ago that Cahill (defender) will be signed within a week. Seems my source was wrong, but I do think it may come to fruition.

Ed, with the likes of Cole, Raul, Aqua getting playing time in the friendlies is this a case of them being put in the shop window? Catch 22, if they play great they will attract interest, but may also convince Kenny to keep them, if they don't play well Kenny won't be enthused to keep them

Surely if they didn't feature in our plans they wouldn't have gone, or is it a case of with Reina, Gerrard, Suarez not representing we needed to put as many biggish names as possible on show?

Do they have a future to play for?

Michael Bland {Ed009's Note - I am sure most of the players have a chance in these friendlies to show they deserve to stay in the team, especially those such as Meireles, Aquilani and Cole, where we could see at least one of them stay.}

16 Jul 2011 09:34:18
As much as I respect Macca, my sources state differently, in that we will make three more signings. Kenny will launch a massive bid for Scott Dann, who will sign for 10m plus Daniel Ayala and Nabil El Zhar. This bid will be launched once the squad return to Merseyside from their Asia Trip. Dann will be the last British signing this season, as Aly Cissokho will sign for 9.75m from Lyon. This will be the beginning of a partnership between the sides, with a friendly to be played at the Stade Gerland next season. Kenny hopes that these deals will be completed before 28th of July, so they can start to ship out players to free funds for Jeffren Suarez who will sign for 8m. He is being brought in to add competition on the left for Downing, and as a back up striker.

16 Jul 2011 09:32:46
Hi. I just heard LFC are preparing a bid for Jefferren. This would be a great addition to the squad but Higuain will be great also. Eds is there any possibility in these rumours? {Ed009's Note - Higuain will not be joining. There was previous interest in Jeffren bit it seems to have died down. That could well be due to the club's intention to offload a few players before bringing any more in. Jeffren is available for a low cost and, if we go in for another winger cum striker, he could be an option.}

16 Jul 2011 01:46:21
For me Liverpool still need to make 3 more signings (i hope).
RW - Adam Johnson
ST/LW Park Chu Young
DL or CD Cissokho or Dann

Ed just a few questions, how many more signings do you see us signing? Has the chances of sign Johnson decreased since Downing signed? Do you know which players we are still heavily linked too?

Thanks

Wheeler92 {Ed002's Note - I very much doubt a move for Johnson. A CB remains a possibility depending on who leaves. LB may still see someone come in. Again, if N'Gog and Pacheco were to leave perhaps a forward will come in - and Park Chu-Young remains available. But it is all possibles now rather than probables.}

Wolverhampton Wonderers are my customers at work (I work for a company called silverbug, and I've spoken to people about Matt Jarvis. I've heard two things about him.
1. He'll be staying at Wolves next season but the club wouldn't be surprised if he moved on the following season.
2. There are clubs enquiring about him and Liverpool are one of those clubs.
So, he could be a Liverpool player but not yet.

Hey ed, I just read Comolli's interview on the Liverpool website earlier and going by what he said, would it be fair to say we're likely to shift a few players on before we see anyone else come in?

DownUnderRed. {Ed002's Note - The club do need to move players on as a matter of urgency now so it is quite likely.}

Hi to all the Eds, great sites

I have a lot of roots in Wolverhampton and my 2 very close friends (lifelong Wolves fans) have begrudgingly told me that they've heard on the grapevine that Jarvis is being groomed to be sold to LFC. It's only a rumour, I know.
Also, let's not forget with all these wishful transfers everyone's hoping for, where are all these goingto play? Listening to Kuyt on LFC TV, I thought how can we sideline him for another, and who that another could be? Kuyt will give 100% and is a class player scoring important goals....just thought Also, Glen Johnson did a fantastic job for us on LB, why doesn't Kk deploy him there permanently? Glen's gifted enough and also makes it easier for him to shoot when he cuts in from left.
We don't need many other signings...we're nearly there...too many signings, unless they are world class will only clutter the dressing room

16 Jul 2011 00:21:54

I'm hearing a strong rumour that the reason for us playing a friendly against Hull City next weekend is due to the fact we are looking at signing their highly rated youth player Max Clark. Do you think this is possible Ed? {Ed009's Note - I have heard of no deal or interest but that does not mean there isn't any. The transfer is of course possible.}

16 Jul 2011 00:18:53
Will downing be in the team today to play malasia (sorry for spelling) :) {Ed009's Note - I very much doubt it considering the signing was only finalised day, but if they had flown him out in advance, it would admittedly be a very morale boosting publicity stunt.}

16 Jul 2011 00:35:48
From info I can gather Liverpool are looking at 3 more positions to fill. No secret that its CB, LB and striker, but from people I know it may not be possible to fill all positions in this window. LB is the most likely position not to be filled as clubs are trying to take the p*** over prices. 100% a CB and striker will be signed. Lukaku would have been no 1 choice but price has put us off and my friend has said the most likely is Mohammed Bangura who plays in Sweden. CB I have no names sry but definately not Cahill or Sakho as KK knows LFC are not their first choice club. Forget a RW Johnson Henderson Gerrard and Kuyt occassionally as and when needed will be used. Roll on 2013 when all our kids are ready with even younger kids pushing them hard.

16 Jul 2011 00:01:42

Please post. Love what your doing {Ed002's Note - Nope.}
