If this is true, Jurgen must have hit the bottle after the Utd match. £32.5 mil!

Never heard of him TBH but a quick bit of research suggests some Chinese interest - I guess he'll end up there. Oh, and his scoring record isn't that great for a €32m striker either.

MK had a review about the player couple of weeks ago when he was first linked to us by papers. Ed02 trashed this rumor as an old story being recycled ( Think we looked at him during Brendan regime )
MK claims he is exciting and a good striker who has pace in abundance and clinical up front. Benfica don't sell cheap and th price quoted in the OP us way less.

SPARTAK MOSCOW sign luis Adriano from AC MILAN, is there something happening that we don't know about, that's two forwards they've signed recently. any news EDDS.

{Ed002's Note - I have already explained it all on the Spartak Moscow page - this is the Liverpool page. Ask me there.]

Happy to trust Kloppo. Recruitment has definitely improved 🙂

Just to clarify I never said he had pace in abundance haha. He is no slouch, but he is also not going to be going past Mane in training drills! I'd say he is more Henderson's ball park in terms of pace! Quick, but not renowned for it.

His key attributes are creativity, hold up play, aerial threat and poaching goals. He is also a good PK taker. His creativity means he can play out wide if required, particularly from the left cutting inside onto his right foot.

I'll concede his goal scoring record looks average on the face of it, but this is the kind of striker who as a rule tend to come into their prime around 27 years old, not a pacey Torres/ Owen kind who look finished by 27 years old! There is a clear upward curve in his recent seasons and I have been an admirer for a lot of seasons! £30m would be daylight robbery in todays market, in my opinion.

Just to elaborate on his goal scoring record, if you look at his time in Spain you will quickly see he only scored once. The thing is though he only played about 600 minutes across around 20 substitute appearances whilst still being very young.

Since moving to Portugal, if you simply evaluate his league and Champions league form, he has 14 goals and 6 assists in roughly 2000 minutes of football. Or otherwise, a goal/ assist every 100 minutes. Only player in our squad who has ever posted figures like that is Sturridge. And 4 goals and 3 assists in the Champions league is probably more than our entire frontline has in their career. In fact if you take out Milner, it is probably more than our entire starting XI!

This is a forward who has proven he can score in high pressure situations, even if he isn't in the team every week. That makes him a very valuable asset to any squad; especially a team hoping to have a successful CL campaign next year. At 25 years old, his best is yet to come!

Good research MK but still sounds too much money for a striker with an average goalscoring ratio and zero PL experience. I'm still giving him a miss.

Liverpool have rejected a loan offer for Ojo from New castle. Either he is playing a part or it's a stupid move not to send the player for some game time. Newcastle have a good manager as well some decent player.
This loan would make him ready for next season.
But what do I know!

He showed last season he can play in our first team, give him a couple more weeks and he'll be a regular off the bench and a cup starter, he's valuable with us.

Hi Harry,

It would depend on how Newcastle planned to use him. If he isn't going to start the majority of games then it's a wasted loan mate. Not sure who their wingers are but think one is Matt Ritchie who he wouldn't start over I think.

Just throwing a different perspective on things!

He isn't playing here either 87 red. Rafa might play him there as the Championship is tight this time.

Why is it a stupid move? He's only just match fit and back from injury. The only injury Newcastle have in Ojos position is Rolando Aarons who has been out for an age.

Chelsea loaned Newcastle Atsu and he can't get a real game for them and he plays in those forward areas, Ayoze Perez and Mitrovic aren't regulars for Newcastle. Where is the guarantee Ojo would get on the pitch?

Imred

I have heard we only loan players on guarantees mate. I can't see the kid playing a lot with us this season. Newcastle is a better team in the championship than most others.

That newcqstle team are playing well, doubt ojo would command a starting spot which us what you'd want if sending him on loan at this time of year surely

We play a diffrent system to them, the kid is not even sharp yet, imagine how badly his confidence will take a dip should this not work, rather keep him around so he can at least fully recover.

Do you not think maybe you have answered your own question harry Newcastle perhaps could not give guarantees on playing time hence we rejected the loan

FIFA says that Matip's eligibility for LFC is being investigated by their disciplinary committee. No time frame given.

This is beyond joke now.

I don't get all this, if the lad doesn't want to play for them he doesn't want to play for them, players retire from international duty some of them well premature if you ask me to concentrate on their club careers so what's the difference? have they just "done their time" so allowed to say they don't want to play?
