Eds, just to be sure.
Even if Carroll and Suarez stay we are still looking for a "top class" striker, who will score goals, do we? {Ed002's Note - "Top class" is subjective but anyone arriving will be expected to score goals.}

Hi ed's! What a good weeks its been, with commolli going, and 2 wins! Have any of u heard what budget fsg is gonna be giving! And what money do u think we will get for aqua man and joey cole? So glad some1 paid for paying them prices for carroll, downing and henderson! Kenny might have wanted to sign them, but commolli was the 1 who haggled (lol) away £71 million for 3 players worth £35-40 million (max)! Y..N..W..A. Thanks ED's DHH L20 KOPITE. And before I forget, I see the f.a thought about the supporters again (NOT) by making the final a 5:15 Kick off! A*SEHOLES! {Ed002's Note - The KO is by no means ideal for Liverpool supporters but we knew it was going to be at that time. Aquilani is all but gne and the transfer will be repeated in the next week or two for 7M euros and Liverpool will stop paying part of his wages. Cole is owed money by Liverpool so income will be minimal if anything.}

Just to have both of them off the wage bill will be a bonus....

Eds,what do you think of Ramirez,would Chelsea part with him,if so, how much might they want and do you think he would look good in a red shirt ?? B {Ed002's Note - Ramirez won't be leaving Chelsea this summer. But he looks real cute in a red shirt.}

Uhhhh ok

Lmao .

not a rumour just wondering as all the news regarding matias suarez has vanished if he was an actual possibility - tyvm for you time {Ed001's Note - no deal has been done regarding him to Arsenal, that is all I know about him I am afraid.}

Thanks for reply most appreciated - i think matias and luis could form a great partnership, both south american, both with flair,skill and pace {Ed002's Note - I don't think it is entirely out of the question.}

16 Apr 2012 22:20:22
hi Ed, I heard something about Kenny being angry at Sterling for pointing out his 'broken promises'. Do you think Raheem might be leaving this summer? {Ed001's Note - I wouldn't expect him to leave myself, I have heard of no real issues with him and he would not be allowed to just walk out.}

16 Apr 2012 21:05:43
Hi eds,great site. I love it.
Is the rumour about liverpool are monitoring carlos fierro is true? What a great talent. Hope we make a move for him. Any answer would be great eds. Thanks a lot. {Ed001's Note - I don't know for sure, difficult to find out info from Mexico I am afraid. For me anyway.}

Eds,
Any chance of maxi staying for next season..or is he nailed on for an exit?
Thanx {Ed001's Note - he is not nailed on now, I know Kenny likes him as a player.}

Kenny likes him? how come he rarely plays him?? {Ed001's Note - because he didn't suit the strategy that was set out by our no longer with us DoF. That is why he played him when he could.}

If kenny Like shim as a player then why has he not been getting any game time, particularly with his scoring record??
{Ed001's Note - because, while Kenny rates him, he didn't fit into the strategy defined for the club's style of play.}

'Likes him as a player', yet chronically underuses him.

So what i understand is that commolli had also influnces on team selection? {Ed001's Note - yes.}

Is maxi wish back to argentina?

That's one of the most concerning things I have heard this season........Commolli setting out the strategy for the style of play! Jesus, who ever agreed to that? Cruyff, now that would make sense, but to give that type of control to Commolli is suicidal. That's if all this is true and Commolli not just being used as a scapegoat for this seasons failings?

Interestingly when carroll was not scoring he was termed as comolli's signing. Now he has become kenny's boy. Very good! So comolli decided that carroll shud be there when downing and henderson are mot in the pitch. Even few days back someone said that carroll did not follow liverpool way and he had a real go at kenny. Comolli is the scapegoat of the season. {Ed001's Note - nobody is saying that Comolli was making that bizarre decision to never have Downing and Carroll on the pitch at the same time.}

I'm shocked to find out that Commolli had influence over strategy and selection! Is this normal for a Director of Football role?

Ryan 'O {Ed001's Note - yes.}

This has got to be one of the most interesting little discussions iv'e seen about Comolli. It's exactly what this site is all about. Nuggets of little info that are crutial to understanding how things work within the club.

ASIF a non football man was influencing on the pitch football stretegy! It will be interesting to see how the performances/results differ now for the remaining matches. It must have been quite restrictive for Kenny to work within such strict on the pitch strategy. {Ed001's Note - it is odd, I never realised just how much impact the DoF role actually had, it truly is the power behind the throne.}

Might not have any bearing to if he stays or goes but maxi recently spent a good few thousand pounds on several new kitchen appliances in the electrical store where I work in Liverpool

Do you know if Liverpool have ever had John Guidetti and Rodrigo Moreno watched? Both are in good form this season and young and talented!

Captain J

Guidetti on loan from city - no chance

Is this the same city that has first team strikers that can't even get a game?

Yes but Guidetti is only 19, they wont let him go like Sturridge.

Hi Eds,

Do you still see the possibility of Carrol moving in the Summer?

personally I would not like him to as I feel he has a hell of a lot to offer.

Thanksyou

LFC JW {Ed001's Note - there is always a possibility! It is not likely right now though, not without Comolli at the club, at least so I am told. Bit hard to be sure until the new structure is in place though.}

Ed in what way would Carrolls future depend on Comolli? Didn't he like Carroll? Cheers {Ed001's Note - he was supposedly less than impressed with him. I would suggest he probably wasn't keen on signing him and so wasted no opportunity to denigrate the signing, but that is pure conjecture.}

Oh okey, I see! I for one hope he does stay! Thanks for the answer ed!

Sorry to be daft, but wot exactly is the new structure, is it the managerial structure or a new transfer/squad building policy or will pne follow the other, dya think we will radically change the way we target signings now ed? {Ed001's Note - the new DoF will set the structure. So it is impossible to say what it will be like until he is in place. It is a much more powerful role than people realise, Barca's whole playing style is the one Cruyff set out, not the one Pep Guardiola chooses. He is just there to get the players to use the system to its best and make tactical changes, such as substitutions, during the match itself.}

So did comolli set the pattern for this season and the boss just implement it? That would explain,why he left and kenny stayed, could it be they want kenny to change the blueprint and work with someone else to instruct the squad. In that case, gerrard or carra would be ideal, like when kenny took over first time and sir bob guided him. {Ed001's Note - yes, having spoken to a few people since reading Tomkins article, apparently so. I never understood why so many British managers were so against the DoF role, but then I never really understood the role itself. It is hugely powerful, more akin to what Wenger and Fergie do at their clubs, than anything else.}

Pity I didnt post the last item on the rumours page, it would be nice to get some more thoughts on it

16 Apr 2012 19:20:28
Ed do u think afellay could join us in the summer {Ed002's Note - I suspect that with Affelay out injured pretty much all of this season it is unlikely that Liverpool would take a chance on him before he could prove his fitness. He may get two or three games so there will be a chance to take a look. However, he will likely be available in the summer and Italy looks like an option if he is.}

Eds affelay is back in training... I posted this a few days ago, but it never got posted.

STB {Ed001's Note - he has never stopped training, such a strange thing to say.}

Injured players are seldom bought/sold due to rehab continuity being required. Look at the mess we got into when we bought Aquilani. We'll be in no rush, and we may watch him play during the Euros IF he gets selected.

McAlien

Hmmm. Us and injured players. It's about time we turned over a new leaf and avoided them.

16 Apr 2012 18:59:27
Not a rumour more of a vent of frustration.. First off lets get real, Xabi isn't coming back anytime soon, what I wanna know is why have we not replaced Xabi adequatly ? We've wasted a serious amount of money since he left in bringing in ( £16million ?? ) Jordan Henderson ( who I've never seen have a good game for us) and Charlie Adam ( who is slower than my Nan and doesn't have the talent of Xabi's right toe !)

I don't know to this day why we don't put a serious offer in for Ever Banega ? He is young, world class, gets the passing going for Valencia and is exactly what we need..

EDS - Can you confirm if we are or ever have looked at Banega ?
Also, is KK hellbent on buying overpriced British ''talent'' like last summer ??

YNWA RJ {Ed002's Note - Banega is not available right now.}

You'll be eating those words come summer mate.. MARK my words, Xabi Alonso has already given a verbal agreement put in place to return to Liverpool next season and that my man is from a current member of Liverpool's playing staff. In Rafa's words FACT ;)

I thought henderson was like 22/23million?, either way not worth the money, well he hasnt proved that hes is yet.

You need a reality check pal Henderson is a future star, Adam is a good squad player and had a lot of ability he will be a good player next season I'm sure! Yes we do need a xabi alonso in our midfield but noone is available at the moment, wait an see we will get our transfers right this summer :)

Gotta say u guys getting on hendersons back are a discgrace. Henderson is the captain of Englands under 21 team a fuutre England captain and wa bought to be the succesor to Gerrard this year he has been asked to play in a nmber of positions and altho he has not always starred he has never tried to hide on the pitch.
He is a future star just like Lucas was a cpl of years ago.Wasnt that lon ago u were calling for Carrols head and now after two goals in two games hes a hero.
Give all the signings a cpl of years and the judge them.

Lurgan Red

Henderson will never be captain of England.

Henderson is young ang good we just play him on the right too much when he is better as a attacking mid. Adam is a good backup midfielder and was playing well with lucas until he was injured

Who thought Scott Parker would ever captain England ten years ago?

Don't write off anyone.

Henderson definitely has the right mentality. He just needs to find his place in the team and develop his creativity. I can see in his play that he is terrified of making mistakes, but he will blossom into a very good player as he settles and grows in confidence.

Thanks,

CSeiling

Impossible to replace Alonso, there only comes along players like him once every generation.

Hendo will come good. Seen enough already to think that. Cannot stand the whining and whingeing from the I want it all now brigade

I love xabi as a player and its obv he loved Liverpool altho the season before his last Xabi had a very poor season by his high standards and remember he forced through a move to MAdrid yes we can all say how good a player he was but hes gone move on,Henderson etc are our future.
When Suarez scored on SAT the first players to celebrate with him were Downing Henderson and Carrol ad remember b4 this yr it was 6 years from we won a trophy this year with new signings settling in we have won one trophy and have a 50% chance of another one.

Lurgan Red

Give Hendo a chance I believe another Lucas
slaughtered but still went on to prove paople wrong. Hendo will deliver

Hendo has never had a good game for us? LOL fool, try watching a game, hendo played in HIS Position is good. Simple as u fool, thought this website was different, it was then I find this idiot! LFC don't need muppets like you! LFC need supporters real fans not idiots who slag players/managers and owners off and then try and defend them selves by saying its 'constructive criticism!' lol fools go away

16 Apr 2012 18:58:11
Ed, I believe we need a winger who's going to get to the byline and whip balls in, there's not that many out there but who do you like who does that sort of job? I like the look of Dries Mertens

DJS

16 Apr 2012 18:09:08
Ed - with Liverpool having made a deal with Nacional Montevideo, do you think its at all possible that we are looking at 2 of their most brightest prospects i.e:

19yr old: Gonzalo Bueno (Uruguayan/Portugese)
Striker: 9 games (7 of them he was subbed on!) - 4 goals 3 assists.

22yr old: Tabaré Viúdez (Uruguayan)
Right Wing: 16 games - 6 goals 7 assists

Ed, if we were interested etc would it be difficult to get work permits for them?

Red Otter {Ed002's Note - Viudez is only on loan - I don't know of the other guy. Work permits would be difficult.}

Which club owns Viudez? {Ed002's Note - One of the Mexican sides as far as I recall.}

16 Apr 2012 17:58:12
(Ed002's Note - How would Liverpool pay for Cavani or Falcoa)
it's not all about cavani, and falcoa. lloriente, suaeta, munain hamsik all there too. {Ed002's Note - They do not play for the two clubs that were mentioned.}

Liverpool if we wanted too would have the money made available if we wanted to splash out on Cavani or Falcao, the problem would be wages as both would want over £100,000.

BigD {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

16 Apr 2012 17:44:00
Ed do you still think that kenny will be moved into another role in the summer and will not be the manager? {Ed002's Note - I think there is a chance that will happen.}

Alright edd i heard that rumour off richard keys on talksport who prob got it off greame beechroft,think fa cup will decide the kings fate.
frankyscouse

These owners aren't stupid they're clever people and are success driven, KD has been good to stabilise us a little but he hasn't even come close to the top 4 demanded. I think come end of the season he'll be moved up soon but they'll make it out to be very much a joint decision and looking towards the future

Clueless! kenny is not 'moving upstairs' or anywhere else for that matter, regardless of the final league position or the cup final result.

16 Apr 2012 17:21:38
Hi ed after cruff refusal who you think is front runner to replace commoli. And how many arrivals u expect in summer. And did there is any chance that rijkaard will replace kk. Thanx great site. {Ed002's Note - Txiki Begiristain might be favourite. It would be guesswork to try and put a number on summer moves and much will depend on those leaving. I would not want to speculate on replacing Dalglish just at the moment.}

16 Apr 2012 16:40:02
Now Johan Cruyff claiming that there are no Liverpool talks just speculation? What's wrong with that?

16 Apr 2012 13:26:54
Hey ed wat r the chances of us signing Diego off atletico Madrid been linked wiv him a few times other a couple of seasons n I think we need to sign a quality young striker we shud try for Daniel sturridge wat u fink?
{Ed001's Note - virtually none and no thanks.}

He's trouble with a capital 'T'.

16 Apr 2012 12:30:22
liverpool linked with herrera? How concrete is that?

Oooh, sand, water, cement...........

still at the mixing stage

As concrete as mud

I dont think he is worth it, sterling is younger and i think a lot better than herrera. also herrera isn't very fast at all, which is stupid soon as though he plays rw. you cant play on a wing and have no pace!?!?

I wouldn't mind if it was Paco Herrera you were talking about. Our scouting network could do with a boost.

Herrera doesn't play on the right wing, he plays in a midfield 3 for Bilbao. And being slow doesn't mean you are a bad player, I suppose you think Xavi is a bad player too?

16 Apr 2012 11:59:53
Joel Pohjanpalo was on trial with Liverpool but rejected a transfer apparently. yesterday he scored a 3 minute hattrick and he's only 17, do you think we'll go for him again?

Why.....

16 Apr 2012 11:08:57
Hello Ed's can't stay away from this site! No rumour - just wishfull thinking.. :) If there's one player I would like to see in a red shirt it's Hernanes of Lazio. Fantastic player who very much dominates the midfield an dictates the rhytm and tempo of play. I believe he and Lucas would have made a noticable pair in midfield. Thanx -red norwegian-

16 Apr 2012 10:43:41
I don't know if this is true but I've been told were looking into these players
Soldado/lorente
Munian
Hoilett
Sigurdson/Herrera- or one of the Madrid midfielders not sure who it is atm
Drenthe

Just passing on what I heard

Did you 'hear' it by using the search function on this site?

Well said above.

16 apr 2012 10:19:16
keep hearing that the various players would not want to play at liverpool because the club does not play in the champions league next season ... not true ... game where players are paid ...if edison cavani or falcao receive a better offer that what they have in their current clubs would certainly come to liverpool fc. liverpool fc certainly is more bigger clubthan napoli or atletico madrid. so important is the offer he makes the club for players . i am sure .. cavani or falcao ..sign for liverpool this sumer .

Not bigger than inter, milan or juve though if they go anywhere itll be to italy.

There are so many club will miss CL football this year. Napoli, Bilbao , Atlantico Madrid and even Inter Milan will not qualify CL next year so player will come to us for sure. {Ed002's Note - How would Liverpool pay for Cavani or Falcoa?}

Maybe ask there teams if they would take an I.O.U?

Surely it's down to lifestyle choice as well which many players deem more important than the club they play. I mean that's why Mascherano left because he opted for sunnier climates whether it was Inter or Barcelona. Or maybe Liverpool currently sitting 8th is the factor.

Champions league does play a part in fickle players, But if you look around europe atm, most of the teams in champions league places didnt have it last year so its not all doom and gloom. Plus id rather have a player that comes to us for liverpool and not for champions league.

In that Cavani is being chased by Real Madrid, Man City, Chelsea and the Milan clubs, all of which can offer larger salaries than Liverpool and Champions League and have a realistic prospect of winning major silverware, there seems no chance at all he would be attracted to Liverpool who are 8th in the league.

Whist Man City could attract this caliber of player due to massive wages and a promise to invest in other world-class talent, Liverpool don't have the financial clout to do so. Napoli will realistically want £30 million + for Cavani and Cavani will want £180k+ p/w; neither of which Liverpool can afford.

We can sign this players because we are LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB,the greatest club!!JFT 96

Bless...

16 Apr 2012 09:24:54
Sorry eds, can't get 'reply to post button' to work. Re: Abel Hernandez and contract extension. I heard there's a minimum fee clause for teams in european competition, which palermo will not be and we will. Hence our interest. Think the lad is a class finisher to be honest, just what we need and not unrealistic like Higuain, Hulk, Lavezzi and Cavani. {Ed002's Note - Palermo are to make serious investment in players this summer - perhaps 150M euro - he will likely want to be part of that.}

Ed002, just a question, but how can Palermo invest that kind of money under FFP when they don't have anything like the commercial revenue of the top EPL clubs? Thanks {Ed002's Note - They can do what they want financially and I would not worry about FFP rules just yet.}

16 Apr 2012 08:01:29
Don't normally ask this type of question but found myself wondering, do any of the eds or anyone else know of any solid interest in the last 6 month in falcao of athletico Madrid, regardless of the possibility of a move actually happening... The boy just can't stop scoring and for some reason, all I hear, is people shouting cavani and lavezzi who in my opinion are probabily less realistic and not quite as good!

Cheers

Danski {Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool.}

He is a quality player and would do well for us. But we are obviously looking elsewhere.

16 Apr 2012 04:25:19
I read that manutd are leading the chase for munian.Is it possible we could sign no longer considering that he will be offered champions league football.thanks ed {Ed002's Note - MY view remains that Muniain is an unlikely signing.}

Man u will end up getting N. Gaitán doubt they will go for both anyway muniain is very expensive and not really proven yet

Munain is over-priced and if Whisky Nose wants to pay 40m for him well..good luck- there is much better value out there

16 Apr 2012 02:13:36
Anything in the rumour linking Abel hernandez with Liverpool?

He just signed a contract extension -.-

Havent heard of one. He signed a contract extension.

15 Apr 2012 23:22:23
Hi Ed's!
Do u have any idea what club cavani is Likely to end up at this summer? {Ed001's Note - I would expect Madrid to be favourite.}

15 Apr 2012 23:20:54
Hi Ed's
Do you think there's a real chance of an Alonso return? What percentage do u think of that happening? Also what about joe Allan of Swansea? He looks fantastic still only 21 {Ed001's Note - I don't expect either to join us in the summer. Impossible to be certain as Madrid are likely to make changes and Alonso could well become available, but I personally do not see that happening.}

I don't think Liverpool would ever be able to pay a transfer fee for Alonso again.

He'd have to be free, but his wages would have to be big and as he's getting older, he'd want one last big pay day contract (4 years), as most players with large profiles seek which is fully understandable.

So i think there is very slim chance he will play for us again, we arguably had the best years of his career and he is certainly one of the best transfers from Rafa's era.

Ollieston

Joe allen is 21 ? im losing it... thought robben was like 50 yesterday.

15 Apr 2012 22:59:54
The telegraph is reporting that suarez has confirmed that he is staying at Liverpool and new contract negotiations are ongoing. Is this true eds?

Thanks
mighty reds {Ed001's Note - most of the players at the club could say they have new contract negotiations ongoing mate, that really doesn't mean much. As far as I am aware the situation has not changed, if there is an offer which meets our valuation, then he will have the chance to make a move. I don't know of any move to push him out the door, there seems to be a calming of the waters, though these owners are ruthless, they will do what they feel best for the club. So no one is entirely safe.}

Hey.... being a loyal supporter of Liverpool. Just want to ask Ed001 who do you support ? ( as nothing is certain . Barring the football 'IT' follows , there are questions if ED002 is a male or a female). And there are many more questions i want to ask only if you answer this.

AJI {Ed001's Note - I am a Liverpool fan.}

I think Suarez should stay, i think he'll want to stay and i think the club will want to keep him.

But Champions League football is seen as the biggest club cup competition in the World, (even if Apoel Nicosia can get to the quater finals).

So the lure from an Italian or Spanish club could be too great too resist. But he wants silverware and he's getting the chance to lift it at Liverpool.

Ollieston

Correction- these owners do what they think is best for making themselves money! nothing else {Ed001's Note - good job a successful club winning trophies will make them the most money then isn't it?}

I fail to see how people can be cynical about the owners on what has been done so far. Be realistic, they are not Arab oil millionaires who can use the club as a toy, they are sensible businessmen with an interest in sport.

15 Apr 2012 22:41:07
Heard a rumour that we're looking at brazilian playmaker Octavio Andrade from Sao Paulo

15 Apr 2012 22:13:45
hey eds,

do you know of any interest in Jano Ananidze of Spartak Moskva?

i heard some rumorus about him in january, but since then there has been nothing. certainly looks like a very exciting prospect, probably wouldn't be that expensive either since he seems off most big clubs' radars. {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about the player at all, I hadn't even heard of him until you mentioned him sorry.}

Zhano Ananidze is probably going to be good if he joined us. Ed's, let me give u a bit of insight on him. He is actually a player in the mould of Mario Goetze, Eriksen and Lucas Moura but he is more adapt at playing anywhere in midfield. He lacks in through scoring department but he is only 19 and that will change. However he assists o a regular basis cool so overall he is worth it!!.. {Ed002's Note - What makes you think he will join Liverpool?}

ED he is a good buy on fifa 12 manager mode ;)

Hi eds, on the same note : "i've played a computer game will we sign him..." any interest in niko bellic? {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

Liverpool 'look at Txiki Begiristain for director of football job'
Former Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain has emerged as a leading contender to replace Damien Comolli at Liverpool.
The Anfield club's American owners sacked their director of football ahead of the FA Cup semi-final victory over Everton because they were unhappy that a big-spending approach had not resulted in any progress in the Premier League.

Txiki Begiristain (left) was involved in David Villa's move to Barcelona (AFP/Getty Images)
They were linked with Ajax and Barcelona great Johan Cruyff, but found the Dutchman had no interest in moving to England.
Instead, he recommended the Liverpool board consider Begiristain for the vacancy, reports the Sunday Times.
Former Spain international Begiristain has been credited with helping to build the current all-conquering Barca team, after bringing in Dani Alves, Gerard Pique and David Villa.
However, he left the Camp Nou in 2010 following the departure of club president Joan Laporta.
Begiristain's exit came just a year after one of Barcelona's worst deals, which saw them sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic and allow Samuel Eto'o to move to Inter Milan as part of the £41million fee.
Despite that blip, he remains highly regarded by Europe's biggest clubs and has been linked with senior roles at both Manchester City and Chelsea.
Should he get the director of football job at Anfield, he would be expected to implement a change in recruitment strategy that would see Liverpool focus their efforts on players aged 21 or under.

Mark in Romford

Why not just bring rafa back then coz he wanted villa and alves only the former didn't want to leave Spain at the time and the board blocked a move for the latter and then he moves to barca for nearly double the price we could have got him for!

So another DofF who see,s to pay hugely inflated prices for average players- WTF

Dein gor me all the.way, we should have went for him before comolli

15 Apr 2012 23:50:54
Eds is it true that Txiki Begiristain is now the leading candidate to become the next dof at the club {Ed001's Note - it certainly seems he has been asked to take a role at the club, not sure if it if DoF or something else though. I believe this is the second time he has been approached by Liverpool as well.}

Eds do you know if he is any good? I ask because I noticed a few days ago one of the eds has said we are also considering David dein, which I would much prefer as he is everything about the premier league. {Ed001's Note - he had a big part in Barca's rise to prominence, hard to judge without knowing him better or seeing more of his work. But that is pretty impressive. I think that would probably have been me who you read saying about Dein, we have spoken to him. No idea if he would have any interest, but he is supposedly actively seeking a new role within the game.}

Ed001 what do you mean by its not the first time was he the first choice when fsg took over at the club and decided to bring in Damien Comolli {Ed001's Note - I believe he was asked to come over with Pep Segura and Rodolfo Borrell, so no, prior to that.}

Thanks ed, appreciate your answer. But one more question regarding your previous answer. Is Dein is looking for a premier league club or is he open to offers abroad?
Thanks again. {Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I am not sure what he is looking for.}

If he is to take over i'd be happy, our academy would basically be the same as it is now as he has worked with Pep.S & Borrell and our first team targets would be young, talented Europeans/ South Americans..
