I think we’ll go for Butland.

I agree with Harry. I can't see the Alisson thing happening. I understand that is who Klopp may want, but the money that is being talked about is too much.

16 Jul 2018 01:46:42
I don’t understand how a random paper in Rome knows that Klopp has changed his mind on Karius lol
here’s to hoping though ;)

Agree12 Disagree2

Its not too much money when a top class keeper is just as important as a top class striker, its time to secure a top class keeper who would really push us on (top class)

16 Jul 2018 10:32:14
Is alison really that good though?

Agree8 Disagree1

16 Jul 2018 11:34:09
Does anyone think that Klopp phoned this Austini chap out of the blue to tell him that exclusvely?
I know rumours are rumours, but desperation to hear anything means that common sense gets tipped out of the window at times.
Next.

I keep thinking is Alison that good? From what I’ve seen I don’t think he is worth that
Much tbh.

16 Jul 2018 15:15:36
I've not send enough either but from what I've seen i wouldn't think he is worth that much. Not because he made any howlers or because we scored by him for fun. More I've not seen a commanding keeper there. He seems to stay in his line for crosses that you'd expect him to come and claim. Don't get me wrong he's good but we're talking money that suggests he's DeGea, Nueur good. Is he any better than the likes of Leno and other very good keepers, or is he just flavour of the month.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jul 2018 15:39:12
as long as the price we pay won't affect other transfers which it shouldn't seeing as we have secured our main targets already, then i don't care if we overpay. he is probably the best who is actually available right now and considering how much we have underpaid for the likes of salah and mane we are due one.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Jul 2018 19:46:12
I sometimes look at Allisson and he is good, good enough to keep Ederson out of the Brazil team, but the Brazil manager has shown loyalty to players instead of rotating.
I think we are so hyper critical of keepers in the prem, every keeper has a mistake in them. Neuer, Lloris and De Gea all made high profile mistakes at the world cup, but we still focus on Karius making one in a friendly more.
I do think we need a better No.1 but still think fans a and the media are too tough.

Not anything sourced by myself, however, a French based Journo has I timated a deal for Fekir is close with Liverpool set to agree to a an slightly increased overall fee but with the payments being paid over the entirety of Fekirs contract length.

As I say, could be nothing. But thought I would share

All the best

Martin Tyler also said on live TV that he will join LFC with the fee being paid over a longer period. And another person who said OL ended talks with us before Lyon actually said it has also said a deal has been reached over a longer period.

Fingers crossed!

My main reason for thinking this will still happen is that Shaqiri has been given the 23 shirt. I know it means very little, but there must be a reason for keeping the no 10 shirt free.

Agree11 Disagree3

15 Jul 2018 20:57:04
Shaqiri wears 23 for Switzerland. I think him picking that number had more to do with him liking It, than any hidden messages about a number 10 coming in 😉 I do still think we'll get Fekir though.

Agree14 Disagree3

15 Jul 2018 22:32:39
mk, 2+3 = 5. 5 x 2 = 10, so it may not happen. there may be a hidden meaning.

I'd be over the moon if he does sign but something is telling me he won't, we'll see. It's Aulas who worries me, he's a business man and a bloody good one at that, who really knows right now, fingers crossed we can make it happen.

Agree4 Disagree4

16 Jul 2018 12:32:45
He will join. The midfield jigsaw will be complete and then maybe a defender and we are done. The keeper issue has to be done with Klopp telling Ward/ Karius they are No1 battle buddy’s just like he did with Migs and Karius last season.

Agree2 Disagree2

16 Jul 2018 15:21:25
I believe Fekir will sign because as it has been said on here many times he wants to and Klopp wants him to.
Can also see that he hasn't been linked with anyone else and it's pretty obvious the world cup is why the deal hasn't went through.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He has been offered to other sides but they do not see value in the asking price.}

15 Jul 2018 13:59:37
Thibaut Courtois is apparently close to a £30.9 million to Real Madrid which is a steal.

We should start seeing a domino effect of Goalkeepers moving now with Navas most likely to join Liverpool.

Believable5 Unbelievable37

15 Jul 2018 14:10:12
I honestly don’t see the point in signing a keeper who is liable to making all the same mistakes (and worse) than those already on the books. If Klopp thinks Navas is remotely competent then he’s deluded. I’d far rather give Karius and Ward a chance than waste money on a 32 year who will get eaten alive in the premier league.

Agree23 Disagree24

15 Jul 2018 14:32:56
Could well be right. Alisson to Chelsea and Navas to us.

Lol at the reverse psychology. Poor old Liverpool resigned to having to go for Navas whilst the uber rich West Londoners get Alisson.

15 Jul 2018 15:32:31
Anyway. I know we don’t base bids on WC performances but how about a cheeky bid for Pickford? He prob wouldn’t even have to go house hunting.

Agree6 Disagree13

15 Jul 2018 16:26:15
If he joins MK I can guarantee you’ll all be moaning about him once he starts letting in soft goals and throwing the ball in the net. I’m hoping thigh that there’ll be some other mug punter who buys him instead of us, given that I can’t see us signing off a cheque for £30m+ for a 32 year old.

Agree8 Disagree3

15 Jul 2018 16:27:51
I would prefer butland over navas. Think if we can keep him injury free he could be a top keeper.

15 Jul 2018 17:02:03
Butland over Navas all day long, if we’re not going to buy Oblak or someone of that class. Not my first choice by a long way, but he’s young enough to improve and at least can survive the rough and tumble of the English game as he’s a big lad. And having been to watch England v Costa Rica, I can say that of the two keepers on display, Butland looked competent whereas Navas was at fault for England’s goals and was lucky not to have gifted us more as well as looking shaky every time the ball went near him.

Agree9 Disagree5

15 Jul 2018 17:19:08
Looking at the list of Navas honours suggests to me that he's a really crap keeper and no better than what we have. oh hang on.

Do any of us really watch Real Madrid to such a degree that we can truly comment on his quality? I'm easy on this one - his experience and record suggests he'd be an upgrade and what small amount I've seen of Alisson didn't impress me for the amount of € involved.

Agree10 Disagree6

15 Jul 2018 17:48:07
Don’t be fooled by his medals, if Bogdan had been in goal for Madrid he’d have won the same. That form of logic and false equivalency would lead someone to think Phil Neville was one of the greatest footballers ever because he’s won the league six times and the champions league. I’ve seen Navas play for Madrid regularly and in person for Costa Rica and he makes terrible mistakes every game. He is shocking on crosses and lacks any physical presence to dominate the six yard box.

Agree13 Disagree4

15 Jul 2018 17:58:22
Hmmm, I don't seem to recall Navas being that bad the last time I saw Real Madrid play, not in comparison to what was happening at the opposite end of the pitch in that match anyway.

Agree11 Disagree5

15 Jul 2018 18:08:04
Nor when he almost singlehandedly kept Brazil at bay for 90mins the other day either come to think of it. I'm not for one minute thinking he's the answer long term but I'm still thinking he may be an upgrade. Depends on the price I suppose, if there is actually anything in the link to us.

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - Courtois won't move to Liverpool.}

15 Jul 2018 18:14:47
Now you're just confusing me Ed002. Navas had a fine lgame against Brazil the other week.

{Ed002's Note - Ok, thanks.}

15 Jul 2018 20:52:03
Navas is a far better keeper than butland ever will be.

Agree2 Disagree5

15 Jul 2018 22:10:01
Are you joking Red Jay? Navas has been terrible for years. He’d get made mincemeat of in the premier league. Do you even football bro?

Agree3 Disagree2

17 Jul 2018 08:18:08
frankly, Navas was an elite goalie until last season where he had a bit of a rodder.

the question of watching football should really be to yourself as opposed to just reading the odd article.

15 Jul 2018 13:38:23
He needs to play, doesn't he?
If Brewster is promoted to the First Team squad, along with Solanke (and potentially Sturridge who is too good to ignore if he stays fit and isn't sold), then that would leave Ings really struggling for game time.
If Liverpool got their money bak, that's fair enough I think.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ings will leave.}

15 Jul 2018 16:28:47
He does need to play, you’re right Juicer. Plus it will hopefully give Brewster and Solanke more opportunities, I wish him all the best though and hope he has seen the last of his injury issues.
