Ed1, is there any indication from your sources that the reason for Coutinho missing games is anything other than injury?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - not at the moment, but he is close to fitness, so it will be interesting to see if he is still missing games after the weekend.}

15 Aug 2017 15:53:58
Tite has said that he will only consider players who play regularly for the WC squad, even if it is Coutinho. If the club holds firm and keep him, he needs to build bridges and get into the team and have a good season if he wants to play in the WC.

Agree21 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 16:03:57
Cou is not that much of a sulker anyway as downing tools is not his thing. He may need time to clear his head but he will give his all esp. as his WC place is at stake as Tite does not play favorites like his incompetent predecessors Dunga and esp. Scolari.

Agree16 Disagree6

15 Aug 2017 16:17:31
Its a shame the club couldn't sort it out behind closed doors. The lad deserves his chance at barcelona. Hope he goes on and smashes it this season wherever he plays. I want to see him at the world cup.

Agree15 Disagree21

15 Aug 2017 16:23:21
Look, the kid wants to go, he'll be on the front of video games. Think in terms of a career, when you get offered a promotion you rarely turn it down. No offence to lfc, My first love. Reckon we might keep him until January. And I think you're right, he is not a sulker. He is still going to love us. Ynwa.

Agree23 Disagree7

15 Aug 2017 16:25:51
Thanks Ed, I hoped that was the case.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 16:57:51
Barcelona bidding at 7:30 would be interesting though. 15 mins before kickoff, with the players wondering if he would be sold before the end of the 1st half. Lol.
Unless they don't get to see the news.

Agree1 Disagree6

15 Aug 2017 19:30:27
If the club decides Coutinho is going nowhere and goes on and refuses to play for us then I will loose all respect. Then he can rot.

Suarez spat out his dummy when he found out he was not leaving immediately but still gave his all on the pitch irrespective of him being miff.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 00:54:09
I fail to realize why he'd want to go to Barca. I'm serious when I say that we look more prospecting then that lot at the moment. They will need Suarez, Iniesta, Alves, Messi, Alba and Neymar replacements by a few years time, without them their squad is nothing. Not to mention his best friend left them too. And in that case PSG I'd understand with the whole Brazilian entourage, but Barcelona is falling and makes no sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They are not failing that much. They will have plauyers like Dembele and Coutinho - they will look again to Dybala next summer. They are successful in Europe and Domestically.}

16 Aug 2017 07:23:43
Lol. Biggest club in the world not that good. If they're no good then can you please tell me what football tou are watching. "If they didn't have *list sll their players* they would be no good. " what? If my house had no roof then I would get wet. But it has got a roof and now znd then needs a bit of attention. Players are so much more intelligent as they reach their peak 27 - 31 and more likely to go well in knock out comps. Barcelona are very dangerous. We beat bayern, we beat chelsea arsenal city and spurs last term. Barcelona would try to play football with us and thus would be playing right into our hands.

Agree8 Disagree1

16 Aug 2017 08:17:46
If they're not that good, god knows what we are then. I was not convinced last night. That midfield and defence is poo.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 Aug 2017 15:06:47
Defence was class last night. We won, away from home at a very decent side. Our boys tactics were near perfect. Hoffenhiem may have more of the ball but that is how liverpool played it. Last night the result was more important than playing silky football. If not for fantastic defending we would have more work to do at anfield.

Agree8 Disagree1

16 Aug 2017 15:41:25
Can I have some of what your on please Superred91.

Agree1 Disagree4

16 Aug 2017 16:54:25
I'm afraid you can't Lancaster. Steven Gerrard called the defence brilliant last night and I agree. I though we defended excellently.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 17:05:48
Did you see how we let them have the ball? We didn't press them how we normally do. It was the game plan to soak up their pressure and punish them on the break. This is European football and hoffenhiem were a decent side who are very strong at home. Teams are always going to get through. Ok lovren wasn't amazing but he did make some vital interceptions and tackles, headers. Look. We won. Somewhere bayern and dortmund came unstuck.

Agree8 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 20:08:56
Our defence has many faults and they have been awful at times. I admit to going a bit OTT when it comes to rating liverpool players but I was very happy that we got a result and look like qualifying for UCL now. I also love my club and believe credit where it's due. The boys did pretty well defencively. That touch matip did to stop the cross reaching hoffenhiem forward. Brilliant. I think for once they earned some praise.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 08:44:34
Biggest thing with being at Barcelona is pretty much guaranteed ECL every year because of the league they are in.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 14:49:23
Hi Eds, probably just the media jumping the gun expecting Couts to go because of his transfer request, but any truth in the Arturo Vidal talk. id give both my nuts to see LFC sign someone of that caliber for once in my lifetime

Love the page shots Eds.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool making any approach for Vidal.}

15 Aug 2017 15:07:23
You must be young. We signed Torres, Suarez, Alonso, and a fellow named coutinho. I'm guess all in your lifetime.

Agree15 Disagree3

15 Aug 2017 15:19:54
He was a world class player at his peak, but his peak is ending and at £50m, that's a lot of money for a bloke who doesn't have many of miles left the clock.

Agree14 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 15:20:55
I feel the transfer window will either go two ways. We'll keep Coutinho to mask over our failed transfer dealings or, we'Lloyd sell Coutinho and end up making a few signings very late. I hope I'm wrong though, and I hope we do well tonight! Got anxiety already lol.

Agree2 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 15:18:24
As my dad once said to me when I suggested we could Pablo aimar back in 03, 'he wouldn't piss on us I we were on fire. '

15 Aug 2017 16:05:23
Or we could keep Cou and still sign players, right Jigz?

Agree8 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 18:19:12
Yes of course we could. I'm just voicing what I feel. Doesn't mean I'm right. I'm still recovering from my failed Keita prediction lol.

Good day ed001

How is your man flu mate? I hope youve played on it and made sure youve remained rooted to the sofa giving out orders? Does it affect your legs and arms like it does mine lol🤔.

Any news to spill to us mate? Positive that is.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - other than I am feeling a little bit better no news sorry mate.}

15 Aug 2017 14:51:37
Enjoy the lemsip ed! Same old story. I look every day for news but we seem to move so slow in transfer market since early June. The players we've added (who, let's remember, are all very good players, I like the fact we have some ariel threat now as we missed that last year) joined early, which makes me think transfers are done now. Do you still believe we will add more? Any news on PC? Get well soon dude.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we would add more if we could, Klopp wants 2 or 3 more. Nothing new on Couts.}

15 Aug 2017 16:27:27
Thanks for the reply.
That's good news ed, 2/ 3 I would put either Ward or Karius (which definitely needs another chance. Was class in training) in goal and buy defender midfielder and attacking player.
Think I would pass out if they announced kieta and vvd!

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 16:32:01
Have we signed Keane? Promised the missus I'll have nothing to do with footy today lol, and some bloke asked me at the bar:-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Keane?}

15 Aug 2017 17:50:33
He's like, 50 .? Or have we gone back un time? Keane 15 years zgo I'd have been pleased. Think he would do better with this team around him. Weird.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 18:46:18
Keane 15 years ago, you would be honoured. Luckily he only wanted to play for a big team :)

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 19:20:50
You're talking about that cb eh, Michael Keane.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the Everton defender?}

15 Aug 2017 20:27:05
I dunno ed? Weird. Just after I posted about TAA being confident he goes abd scores s beautiful goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:45:13
What are you talking about angelred? Keane did play for us about 9/10 years ago. He was passionate but never really slotted in like he did at spurs. Was exciting to watch though.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 12:24:51
Hi eds, is n'zonzi somebody we are looking at id read something regarding him and us. I'm not sure if he's completed a move from Sevilla to Juve but if not he'd be a player I'd look at.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of.}

15 Aug 2017 12:39:15
I may have got completely crossed wires on this but I was under the impression that Juve were looking at N'Zonzi or Can.

If that's true and they will wrap up N'Zonzi and not pursue Can then I would rather us just stick with Can instead of paying out quite a large sum for N'Zonzi.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 14:58:33
I know it's irrelevant, but when I used to play fifa a few years ago, I always used to buy n'zonzi. Quick, tall, strong and great in the tackle. Is capable of playing forward too. I know it affects Emre but he must know that we need more bulk. If I was in charge, I would do everything I'm my power to keep can. He is still getting better, in a few years I genuinely think he will be one of the best CMs in the world. If N'zonzi rumour is true then surely kieta deal is off? N'Zonzi would be a great signing. Very underrated player.

Agree12 Disagree4

15 Aug 2017 15:23:13
Hi everyone is talking about players but i have a feeling lfc are not going to sign anyone . does everyone have the same thought. to let Can not go and keep him for another year and leave for nothing is stupidity. it has been the worst summer dealings ever. to get into the champions league playoffs and have no additions and settle for lovren and klavan in defence is bizarre.

Agree3 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 15:46:21
Deano, I understand your frustration mate but we have added quality. Salah is going to be deadly this season. Robbo frees up Milner to do his thing where he is still world class in that MF position. Znd I have a feeling dom is going to be our next Owen/ Fowler.

Agree1 Disagree8

{Ed001's Note - when has Milner been world class? He has never been world class.}

15 Aug 2017 16:06:57
Spot on, Ed. Like you, I must have missed the period of Milner's career where he was world class, myself.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 16:26:02
Superred, did you not see the UEFA cup final when Milner was utterly ineffective in centre midfield? Or are you in a parallel universe?

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 16:30:54
Ok, bit of an exaggeration. He is a dynamic player though who I think we will see the best of this season.

Agree8 Disagree5

15 Aug 2017 17:54:36
Yeah I did see it. Thought moreno was the weak link. I also saw him in our last 6 games, playing a more reserved style than lfc usually do. It was genius and the players responded to it well. Ok he is not world class but he can be very good and his experience is valuable. He has a premier league medal.

Agree9 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 17:55:31
Milner or Hendo in middield? Thoughts.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - or would i rather be poked in the eye with a sharp stick or kicked in the nuts by a rampaging bull?..

15 Aug 2017 18:19:15
Oh ed you do make me laugh 😆, honestly neither are good enough right now but if i had to choose its henderson hands down. Keita would have been ideal but that's not happening.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 19:19:16
Are you having a laugh Riedwaan or are you so bad at understanding football that you actually believe their is a choice to be made between Henderson and Milner? Henderson is, by an absolute mile, a better choice, a better player, a more suitable player, a more complete player and I could go on and on. Henderson gets all sorts of criticism but watch him play: good positioning, good vision, superb work rate, good in the tackle, vocal, passionate, technically good, does the simple things well - Milner has never been a good central midfielder in his entire career and shouldn't be one now. If we were looking for a player to cover central midfield we should of kept Lucas - Milner is a big drain on wages and offers very, very little to the team - 100k+ p/ week? We are a mental club.

Agree4 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 19:25:13
Lol. Hendo not good enough? You're joking! I think he is pure class. Always feel safer when he is playing. Milner Is one of the most underrated player in premiership history. Ok, I have z tendency to exaggerate. Paul Ince said hd was our best player.

Agree4 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 20:32:46
Seano I believe the fact he cam cover so many positions makes him worth hos wage. It's like having 3/ 4 choices from bench. I don't know why people underrate Milner. Like I said, he has a premier league medal. great person to have around the club. Good old fashioned English RM.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:45:44
Milner or Hendo in middield? Thoughts.

{Ed025's Note - or would i rather be poked in the eye with a sharp stick or kicked in the nuts by a rampaging bull? .

Ed025 - Sitting on the fence as usual.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 21:23:18
World class goal = Milner.

Agree5 Disagree3

16 Aug 2017 01:02:38
I think Henderson's time is done for us. We've proved a point to Fergie now, but I would hope we are looking at someone next level. Should be on the bench (or sent to the wall) . Obviously we need to get some others in, but seriously think about midfields we've had.

If you think he is the right man to lead us as a class midfielder I totally disagree.

Agree0 Disagree3

16 Aug 2017 07:20:57
hahaha, I had to read that 3 times, he called Milner world class! LOL
In that case, Barcelona should sign him to replace Iniesta.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 07:33:05
A lot of hendos game gets missed. People don't see his positioning or hear how vocal he is. I was frustrated with Hendo for years and was also saying "why do we play this guy, not good enough" but in the last three years he has become an absolute rock in our team. if you can't see that he Is the heart beat of our team then I can't help you. Would be the first name on the team sheet for me.

Agree5 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 15:29:47
Ok guys. I know I was a bit over the top. I have called Milner world class and also ox in the past. I guess it depends how you define world class. Milner has been an international for years for a very decent England team.

I admit I exaggerated a bit but I stand by my statement that he will be massive for us this season. Even if it's just scoring 20 yard goal in a European qualifier I'd be pleased with that. If not for his vision down that left hand side we would have a lot more work to do next week.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Aug 2017 16:03:47
People talk a lot about us playing a number 10 and calling all midfield players CMS. None of it makes much sense to me. We don't play 4 4 2 much anymore. Toward end of last season we did, but normally we set up 4 3 3. No number ten. Three forwards. ONE Cm and a RM and LM. Milner Is and has always been a RM who can play LM LB RB LW RW. so I don't see why people worry about him playing in CM the Ox too would be at RM and RW if he came.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 11:07:03
Eds, anything to the chatter about Marco Asensio? Looks like a talented player.

Thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Madrid are not looking to let him go.}

15 Aug 2017 11:38:20
top young player worth putting in a huge bid we need some good news these days FSG need to spend big now or get OUT.

Agree7 Disagree14

15 Aug 2017 12:00:28
Has signed a new contract with a huge buyout. Zidane likes him, so forget it.

Agree4 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 12:07:02
He is seen as Bale's eventual replacement. Asencio is going nowhere and blaming FSG till you are blue in the face will not change that, Newts.

Agree9 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 12:09:36
I thought his buyout (in current market adjusted terms) is reasonable?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to Liverpool - ignore the clauses.}

15 Aug 2017 12:19:28
FSG are not the problem. They are willing to back klopp. I suspect if coutinio played for another team, we would be calling them crazy for turning down £90 mil. He isn't that good. Class yes, replaceable yes will we find suitable replacement, doubt it.

Agree13 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 12:31:18
Would be great. Got really excited when I heard this rumour then I woke up. Hearing rbl's recent comments I think kieta is moving eh. Hopefully anyway. What makes me worried is the speed with which we acted when the window opened. Couple of days and we had salah and dom, shortly after we had Andy. Klopp said he wanted business done in time to let new players settle. That makes me think we are not signing anyone else. Or if we are, it'll be a knee jerk reaction to pc mess. I love pc but he's really put us in a difficult situation. I blame his agent and barca. We could have had lacazette.

Agree7 Disagree3

15 Aug 2017 16:37:34
We won't get him but did anyone else see his goal against Barcelona at the weekend? Almost a carbon copy of Robbie Fowler's at Old Trafford all those years ago.

Hi Ed's,

Is there a possibility to sign Julian Brandt if at all Coutinho is leaving?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - that ship has sailed.}

15 Aug 2017 10:24:00
Like our transfer window except That ship has sunk.

Agree19 Disagree4

15 Aug 2017 10:28:06
Anything further on Meyer?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - no.}

15 Aug 2017 10:48:12
Brandt made it clear, that he wants to resolve the mess of a season they had last year and a move to Bayern with a pre-agreement beeing rumoured in German meadia.

Max Meyer on the other hand would be available. He didn't want to sign a new contract and he said "Who knows, the market is open for another month (said that a few weeks ago) and there is still a chance for a fresh start somewhere else. For now im excited for the new season". His contract ends 2018.

Agree4 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 10:56:37
Meyer is not in coutinho's bracket. He is another potential who will need a couple of years to hit the peak. We should look at established players. Meyer and Woodburn what are the differences?

Agree4 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 11:02:24
So what's our plan ED001?!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - our plan? Are you suggesting that LFC have plans? They have no idea about forward planning, that much is obvious!}

15 Aug 2017 11:17:16
Difference between woodburn and Meyer is a few years more experience. I agree he is still getting better, as coutinio was when we bought him.

Agree5 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 11:21:34
Our summer plans? Waste almost the entire transfer window chasing after players that we are told aren't available. keep chasing them. suddenly find out Barcelona are after our best player. discover that he actually wants to leave. return to chase players that aren't available and then realise we have no plan B for
1. The original players we were after
2. a plan to replace our best player who if off to Barcelona.

Then immediately realise that we are no better than we were last season due to all of the above.

MDS.

Agree14 Disagree1

15 Aug 2017 11:32:03
Sad but true myredog.

Agree6 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 12:08:41
Spot on, Faith. Meyer is not in Cou's league. He will be a project just like Woody is so why sign him, exactly?

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 12:34:41
So liverpool should have only one extremely promising youngster? Meyer has more experience at the top level. He is quite similar to woodburn although I think Meyer is a little better. I hope we go for him. At least we would be going for someone who wants the move.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 14:17:08
Have I really just seen someone ask what's the difference between Woodburn and Max Meyer? A regular in the Schalke side and Germany, then a lad who rarely fractures for a poor Liverpool side? Jesus, I know Woodburn has potential but don't say silly things like that.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 15:27:16
Agree with everything you said redbutcher until you said "a poor liverpool side" Man, did you watch us last term. I'm biast but we were the best team in the league until mane loss, then PC loss. Did you see the way klopp had us playing in the last few games? Cagey and solid. Very clever. And players like firmino and Can, DS played it excellently.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 16:09:13
We must be a poor side cos we did not win the league last season, as if anyone thought we could do that with the team we had with all the holes in them.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 19:09:24
Poor Liverpool team, how can you say it's not? We have very little class in depth? We have a defence that a mid table team wouldn't be proud of? Wake up our team is a myth. We have a very good attack. Miles off the pace. We haven't won a trophy in the last 5 years? Poor side maybe harsh in some people's eyes, but everyone can agree with under achieving as a better adjective. I know what I've said is very negative. But when you pay your money to watch from the stands week in week out, you have the right to state your views.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Aug 2017 07:41:29
Fair enough redbutcher. Liverpool fans have been spoiled and think winning trophies is a right. Most fans never see their team win anything. I'm not having a go dude, but I will disagree, I think our team oozes class but needs more Players. Defence were class against hoffenhiem. I think we are a great team. In a mini league of the top 7 terms last season we would have been at the top. I think that says it all. We didn't once get beat by a top team. Firminio lallana mane salah Hendo can taa, all amazing.

Agree2 Disagree1

17 Aug 2017 21:50:00
For me buying him would be a repeat of the Ibe and Markovic situation where the club spent good money on a player they essentially already had and screwed up on both. If have a choice I'd put the time and effort into the 17 year old with potential rather than spend money on an older player whose advantage comes from age and game time and isn't significantly enough better to justify blocking existing players.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 00:23:00
Question of Ed002,

Is there any news on Seri? Seen a few websites talking about a potential 36 million pound bid.

Any truth in the rumours?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any offer being made, but as I said, if Liverpool are interested then it would be as an alternate to Keita.}

15 Aug 2017 09:10:17
Well yeah seeing as keita isn't happening, course it's an alternative! 🤔.

Agree9 Disagree3

15 Aug 2017 09:12:41
Apparently he suffers from chilblains in cold weather which could make a deal unlikely. Believe it or not. Haven't seen much on him apart from you tube nonesense. He looks ok. Is he an upgrade on what we have? We need a Matic type player really. He was imperious against West Ham the other day. Chelsea may regret that departure.

Agree4 Disagree4

15 Aug 2017 09:31:03
I thought weather conditions and his ingrown toenails precluded him from cold weather countries.

“I have ingrown toenails and when it’s cold I need special treatment, ” he admitted. “I don’t see myself playing in a country where it’s cold. I hurt everywhere and I struggle to train. "

Can't see him wanting a move to us but he is a very good and creative player.

15 Aug 2017 12:24:12
What rubbish. IMy aunty married a guy from the Gambia in West Africa, (played for national team as it happens) and shortly after he came to uk she took him camping with us. He hated it and has never been again. My point is. dunno actually. It would be like me going to play in the Arctic circle. Ingrown toe nail or £90.000 a week. Priorities seri.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 15:09:57
Everyone raving about Matic!? We all know how jose's teams play. Matic will be running around chasing the dust of salah. Our boys will be far too dynamic for him to even be in the game. Lallana, Hendo and Can will run rings around them. People forget how good we were last year. Injuries struck but the truth is, we have added quality to the squad this window and we are going to lose quality, that's football. We need a special signing to make up for pc loss but I'm not holding my breath. We all expected a cb to come but hasn't happened.
