When roy was somehow giving the liverpool job, why did he bring Paul Kenchelsky
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Because he is older than Insua and can kick a ball further - it had nothing to do with defensive or crossing ability - LIVERPRES

To the person that said;

"I notice a lot of talk about King Kenny to be our next manager. I have to say that this would be another backward step. *He left the club in a poor state*"

When Kenny left, in February 1991, Liverpool were top of the league (only to finish 2nd) .We had won the league the previous season.

How is this "leaving the club in a poor state? "

For me, the minute that Kenny left was the moment our club started a freefall from which we haven't recovered (Though I hold no ill feeling whatsoever towards KK)

I think there would be a delicious irony in Kenny returning and leading us to Number 19. Remember, Kevin Keegan was far from being a top coach, but he was "Mr Newcastle" and this alone nearly lead them to a title. And as for today's players not knowing who he is? If they know their football history, they'll know who Kenny Dalglish is.

You clearly don't understand the significance of Comolli's appointment and what this means to Hodgson's place in the acquisition of players. The fact that you still think we are chasing that type of player speaks volumes about your comprehension of the situation at Liverpool. Still, don't let logic derail your expertly constructed conspiracy theory.

Well done for highlighting your own ignorance. By the way, three and four syllables are not big words, no matter how much they confuse you. If you dealt in fact and logic you wouldn't appear to be making such a childish knee-jerk reaction as to state that Liverpool definitely won't be making any January signings without having anything more than your own conspiratorial interpretation to go on. Now google any words that you don't understand and sit in the corner with your tin foil hat on.

Seriously, it can't still be half term can it?

How about Paul Cook of Sligo Rovers?

Anyone who has seen the Irish League will see that Sligo play great football, and he is 43 I think so still young enough to keep improving. Liverpool Fan as-well.

This Year came 3rd in the League, and won both Cup's with nowhere near the same finance as other clubs.

Biggest Drawback I see is the lack of Big name player's he has worked with.

Ed's heard of him? any people who know rover's agree? {ed's note - I have heard of him, he is a Scouser isn't he?}

Ya he is, at the start of his management days he's teams records where poor, but season on season he seems to be getting more tactically aware and so results keep going on the up.

At the minute the difference between looking at a rover's and Pool game are leagues apart.

Apparently nesv have called a meeting early this week with roy.
any ideas ed?

{Editor's Note: It is about the Christmas Party.}

To explain why he was n't invited ?

Seen few posts about the next manager, for me I would love to see Maradona just for entertainment value . not just the football but also the pre and post match interviews

But the reality of it, we are stuck with Hodgson for the season , NESV will not rock the boat in the first few months, past January it won't be worth / viable to replace the manager, even if they had to (KOP made enough noises) then I would imagine Sami will be in charge for the rest of the games till the summer.

Apparently Capello has had another falling out with the FA. Something about John Terry again. He's looking for a way out of his FA contract and we are monitoring his availability.
Forget Fergie, forget Jose, Fabio is the number 1 club manager in the world. Hope we get him.

I know most of us are keen to see the back of Roy sooner rather than later, but unfortunately we must be patient. NESV can see what is happening, and will be getting advise from people who understand the game. We know they are not afraid to make big decisions, so it seems the reason Roy is still there is that they haven't found the right replacement yet. I'm sure that when they do, and he becomes available, they will act. Keep faith with the owners, there is no need to bombard them with messages telling them how to run the club.

Hi ed I meant ones we could realisticly get and would unerstand that Liverpool fc is a special club with a great tradition and would try uphold these traditions, cheers mate. Banjo boy {ed's note - the problem is that most of those types have only recently taken on new roles (ie Michael Laudrup). It is becoming a case of looking at outside bets such as the Portugese guy, whose name completely escapes me right now even though I have probably read it 50 times a day for the last week! Though I am not even sure he would want to join us and work under Comolli the way NESV envisage. They are going to have to take a chance on someone I feel, someone who will be happy just to coach and pick the team. That might well be a complete surprise, I have a feeling it will be someone we would never expect. One thing is for sure, it has to be the right guy or the pressure on them to appoint Kenny will be huge!}

14 Nov 2010 22:26:43
Ed, who do you reckon would be the most likely appointment should NESV get rid of Roy asap? {ed's note - I would say Comolli stepping in to look after things is the most likely, I really don't think they want to employ Kenny as he is not going to want to do things the way they want to do them. They would then be stuck with him unless he had a disaster, which they really wouldn't want to happen.}

Ed, if we get in a new decent manager and spend wise in January, how high can we go {ed's note - top four is still easily attainable.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

top 4 is never going to be easy ed. It will be a struggle. I reckon we're fighting with spurs and man city for 4th. I think spurs will struggle with cl football. Man city can spend another 60 million come January but it all depends if they turn up. We need a new manager and come January we need to be no more then 6 points of 4th so we can push for 4th. January can't come soon enough.

Hi ed, can you give three realistic candidates for a new manager please? Also do you think we should stick with Roy untill the end of the season? I feel that unless we can get a really top class manager then it will be to unsettling to do before xmas! p.s Don't want Martin O'neil {ed's note - 3 realistic candidates? What do you mean by realistic? Oh and don't worry, O'Neill is not in the frame, Pellegrini and Rijkaard have already been ruled out, in fact the only realistic managers all have a job. By realistic do you mean ones I think could do the job or ones I think we are likely to get?}

Ian Holloway? Ok well, you say he knows Liverpool and what we're about, here's the thing, we all said that about Hodgson before he came didn't we? "Typical British manager, knows our club, knows the English game, back to basics, gets the best out of players" etc. etc.

And to be honest, Hodgson has done and won more in his career than Holloway.

Holloway won't lead us to PL titles, European Cups etc. so if you think that you're dreaming or something
how do you know what hollowy is capable of? you seem to know more than most so you put a name forward, also i never ever wanted roy hodgeson here mate never i was privvy to a couple of things and was behind kenny, don't forget it was a tempary job to STEADY THE BOAT if roy stays we may sink, im not a dreamer or a anti european just a realist, look at bart simpson at everton if he had good money to spend he would have a great side, no one knows lad we will have to wait and hope, bob paisleys skids

Just watched the Milan Derby and AC Milan played well even though they were down to 10 men! But the interesting thing was that they don't have a household name as coach but an up and coming manager with new ideas. They have more superstars in their roster so I believe with the right management with attacking football we don't need a big name i.e. such as O'Disscoll or Villas Boas

EDITOR,
that is true mat busby played for liverpool and was thought to become manager one day,
i don't know if kenny is personal pals with whiskey nose, but i can remember dalglish carrying kelly dalglish after a man u game and said to the interviewer you may as well ask her you will get more sence out of her, im not into footy players and only know gerrard because im from huyton and went to games with his dad long before steven was thought of, but if you say he is personal pals with whiskey i believe you, but i can't see kenny let whiskey say torres is a diver/ cheat and possibly try to take our keeper without reply in the press pronto, could you?any way it should be a stipulation in his contract no contact with he devil, bob paisleys skids {ed's note - Kenny would have stood up to Fergie, no doubt about it, but that is because that is him, not because of any friendship or otherwise. Same with Hodgson, it is just his way to bumble along not falling out with people he may need later.}

Like i said big names are already at big clubs, or failing in not so big ones, most of the top teams any competent manager could manage because of the standard of players at his disposal, you could argue they got the group of players together in the first place, that's a fare point, but im only making a point, arsene wenger is the odd one out he is a proper manager stuck to his principles and built 3 different teams at arsenal, and foreign aswell, i am not against foreign managers just that i have my favourites and i know holloway understands what liverpool fc is about, roy must of walked around with his eyes closed before he come here because its obvious he hasnt got a clue, whoever ends up at liverpool fc must be spot on and totaly know what he is getting himself into. this club is a lifestyle. and being a personal pal of whiskey nose isn't a good start, bob paisleys skids

I have been reading the rumours and banter with interest today, not least because the name 'Owen Coyle' has cropped up on a number of occasions. While I respect Mr. Coyle's work at Bolton, I must admit that the possibility of him becoming Liverpool manager disturbs me. My girl-friend is a Bolton fan and has threatened to place me on an eternal nookie ban if Owen Coyle so much as drinks his morning tea out of a Liverpool mug or dons a pair of red pants. Help!

When you leave a club to manage another club you usually try to sign 1or 2 of their best players, so when roy was somehow giving the liverpool job, why did he bring Paul Kenchelsky, he can't defend, he can't cross a good ball, he is always getting knocked of the ball.He is just not a left back of liverpool class, out of his depth tj l.f.c.

I think the system I mentioned before could work. The front office that Henry installed in Boston was a type that most "baseball people" thought would never work. Not that long ago most General Managers were former ballplayers and the thought process was that someone who had never played couldn't run a team. That's been proven 100% wrong as MLB teams now higher really smart, educated executives to run their teams, rather than ex players.

Obviously it depends on who the guys Henry puts into power are. You can't have a conflict of interest. For instance you can't have an executive thinking of the long term success of the club and then a manager who is worried about his job. Thats a conflict of interest. Having a manager whose main concern is scrapping togther as many points as he can in the short term to keep his own job won't work. You need them to work together.

14 Nov 2010 21:10:46 Liverpool Rumours ""The person who picks the players is most important. Henry has already installed that man in Damien Comolli. He is in charge of transfers and signing youth players, that's far more important than the manager.""

That is a very dangerous and incorrect belief. They are as equally important as each other. If Comolli finds the eleven greatest players on the planet they will not be a good team unless they suit the tactical doctrine and training methods of the manager.

Please folks, don't start bombarding John W.Henry or any of his links with e-mails regarding Hodgson or anything else. It just makes our fanbase look like a pack of moaning, impatient, hard to please idiots and it would most certainly annoy Henry or anyone else.

Henry has made it clear that he will listen to the fans, work with the fans, learn from the fans and try to figure out the best way to move the club forward. He is finding his bearings, and trying to learn so he needs time to find a clear direction for both the near future and the distant future.

In regards to the manager, I'm sure Henry will have talked to the players, Dalglish and others about Hodgson. And if he is looking for a new manager it will take time, because he'll want to find the right person.

Lets be patient and give NESV and Henry time. There is no quick solution for things which matter to us long-term.

And seriously, if people start mailing him he'll not want to talk to any fans and he'll get annoyed because I'm sure he'll get a lot of mails from plain stupid people and little moaning babies saying stuff like "sack Hodgson" "we must sack Roy" and demanding things like certain player signings. It would get crazy and out of control.

Henry isn't an idiot. He can see our position in the table, he can see our results, he can see how we're playing, and he'll have people like King Kenny talking to him.

Lets give him a bit of peace, but lets give him some time and be patient with him. He's came in to our club and cleared us of our massive £300m debt, which has saved us! Changes will come gradually, but they need to be the right changes.

So all the idiots who want to mail him with silly, idiotic mails to sack Hodgson should forget it. He's promised that he'll listen so give him the chance to do so.

Although I originally considered that we should give Woy a fair crack of the whip, recent events have conspired to change my opinion. This is evidenced by the fact that most fans are discussing who should replace Woy rather than who should be in the team.
I would like us to go for Deschamps (he seems to have what it takes) or the Porto chap.

Why wouldn't they want to come? managing Liverpool is still one of the biggest jobs in football.

I've heard from a contact at Tranmere that former reds trainee Dale Jennings is being lined up by damien Comolli for a possible return to Melwood. I'm personally not surprised, as he looks the real deal and it makes you wonder why he left in the first place! Perhaps it was his own choice, but whatever, I know that loads of scouts have been flocking to watch him in recent weeks and have all left being mightily impressed.

Everyone is worried about who the manager will be, but that's secondary. The person who picks the players is most important. Henry has already installed that man in Damien Comolli. He is in charge of transfers and signing youth players, that's far more important than the manager. He did a good job at Spurs, as has been pointed out before he brought Gareth Bale and Luca Modric to that club, who are 2 tremendous players. He laid the foundation for them reaching the top 4 last season. Liverpool is a bigger club than Spurs and with more money at his disposal he should be able to bring success to LFC.

I see a ton of similarities between Comolli and the man Henry hired to run the Boston Red Sox, Theo Epstein. They are both young and smart. The manager will be secondary to the front office. He will be expected to implement the overall philosophy of the front office. I wouldn't expect them to hire a big name manager because a big name manager will not be okay with taking orders from above, which is what he will be asked to do. A big name manager will want to do everything his way. Thats not how it will go at LFC with Henry as owner.

Thats not to say that the front office will be down at training telling the manager how to do things. It will be more of an overall strategy thing. Game to game, the manager will come up with the tactics that he feels best matches the opponent. However the overall direction of the club and the broader way the club plays will be dictated from above.

Unfortunately i agree with some of the above.
And unfortunately again, this does not usually work in football.

Whats your take ed?

Erm, why do you think Comolli was installed then? He was brought in for just that very reason, so quite how you've jumped to the conclusion that there will be no signings in Jan has me a little bemused.

so that when jan comes and goes we can say all our targets were not attainable or priced out of our pay scale. . .

In reply to the humbly named king kenny07

You clearly don't understand the significance of Comolli's appointment and what this means to Hodgson's place in the acquisition of players. The fact that you still think we are chasing that type of player speaks volumes about your comprehension of the situation at Liverpool. Still, don't let logic derail your expertly constructed conspiracy theory.

Since NESV took over i think that they have done a terrific job . . and I like the fact that they are monitoring Young talent from across the world . . there is millions of young talented players out there . and i know from experience that when Comolli was at Spurs he was responsible for the signings of players like Bale , Modric etc. Look at Bale now . Probably one of/ If not the best Left Midfielder/ Winger there is in the world . I have no doubt about Comolli's ability in seeking young talents and i saw a post earlier saying Comolli will not be bringing any players in during January well i though that's why we appointed him? ?. . It would seem stupid giving the way the team has been playing that not one single signing will be made?

ED What are your thought's mate? {ed's note - Comolli is definitely intending to make signings in January, he is also keeping an eye on our on-loan players to see what kind of future they have and if they can fill specks on the team.}

Hey everyone,

I notice a lot of talk about King Kenny to be our next manager. I have to say that this would be another backward step. He left the club in a poor state, won the PL with an open cheque book at Blackburn, was poor at Cetic and Newcastle. Oh and wasn't he advising the club on Rafa's successor. He agreed with Roys appointment.

I'm sorry but he and Thommo are not the answer.

What about Martin O'Neill?

If not then it has to be Van Gal or Hiddink.

Do you agree ed(s)

IN RESPONSE TO. .

Just thought I would put up what a Finnish Sports Journalist had to say about Hodgson while managing Finland during Euro 2008.They finished bottom of the group.
"We finished fourth in our group with 6 wins, 2 defeats, and 5 scoreless draws, He wanted us to be very organised and focus on defence, "

"We usually defended with eight men. The first thing was always to have a clean sheet and after that we hoped we would snatch a goal from somewhere - set-piece or a counter-attack.

I went onto the Guillem Balague website and e-mailed him asking him about Liverpool's chances of signing Juan Mata. He didn't respond (and never does) but one of his website colleagues did. I'll copy paste it:

"Hello Jonny. Thanks for the e-mail and thanks for visiting our website. There hasn't been much recent interest in Juan Mata, but it is common knowledge in Spain that Real Madrid and Barca are interested in taking him on. As for Liverpool, at a time, yes. But that was in the later years of Rafa Benitez's tenure. Rafa made contact for both Mata and his former team-mate Silva, but this became public in Spain prompting a bidding war between Spain's big two and other clubs. Rafa didn't feel that Liverpool had the financial strength to compete with these clubs.

Obviously Liverpool have had a change in management, and any interest in Mata now appears to be non-existent. It would be worthwhile telling you that Mata has regular dialogue with Fernando Torres, and would be interested in a move away from Spain if the offer was a good one. This is why Torres tried to prompt Liverpool to sign Mata.

I don't know what the future holds. But there is a good chance Mata could end up at Barcelona if other moves fail to progess (which is unlikely) so maybe a move abroad is likely.

Hope this answers your question."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So he would be interested in a move abroad, why not get him? I take it this guy believes Mata to Barcelona hinges on whether Barcelona get Fabregas or not.

Coyle is seriously impressive.
He wears shorts when it's snowing.

Ok so NESV are currently searching for a suitable long term replacement for Roy. The reason being that we are not playing good football in any way, shape or form. I understand that this search may take up until christmas, in which time we could slide further down the table. Therefore an immediate change needs making, I don't see any negatives installing King Kenny as caretaker manager until then. The players respect him, the fans love him and most importantly he loves the club. . .

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Hey remember this is Liverpool FC we are talking about. Liverpool without Tom & Hicks, debts cleared, a great forward thinking management, with players like Torres Gerrard Reina.
If i'm a manager who is going to be somewhere for long haul, i'll look at what the future holds for the club, not at the current situation.
I'm sure success will be there with a new credible manager and with a management stability achieved.
Another League win will be 19th, another Championship win will be the 6th. We are Liverpool. YNWA.

then i beleave we should try and sign samba from blacburn also shawcross, connor wickman, matt jarvis, nzogbia, henderson, levezzi from napoli, also honda would be great but all my above are all targets that i beleave are gettable for lfc and for around 70 80 million we could sign them all. sell the crap we all know who they are maxi and agger included which could raise 30 million so we just need 50 million from you mr henry please chq card or cash all excepted.
wots your thoughts ed please? {ed's note - I don't know about that, surely it is better to go along, support the team until the final whistle and then let your feelings be known about the performance? Please no to Samba and Shawcross! We already have enough hoofers at the back! Time to get rid of them and use our young defenders who can actually pass the ball.}

Re Manager, of the managers we could realistically get at the moment (mid-season), its slim pickings unfortunately. The ket thing is getting Champs League football this season. I think NESV know that Woy won't be able to deliver that.

I definately think there will be a need for King Ken to step in for the rest of the season as an interim appointment. KK will have a better chance of instilling some belief and attacking football in the team for sure. Then in the summer, we could attract a bigger name perhaps, depending on the landscape at the time and if we have Champs League to offer.

Jose Mourinho
If he wins La Liga and Champs League with Madrid, who knows! I think the LFC job would suit his ego for sure, and he has said that he wants a long term job next.

Guus Hiddink
Maybe Turkey will be out of Euro qualifying by the summer, so he could be freed up.

Lois van Gaal
Has a proven track record for bringing young talent through and playing attacking football. May be time for him to move on from the Munich job if they don't win their league?

Pep Guardiola
If he doesn't win La Liga, he may be forced out? Another long shot, but who knows!

I believe at least one of these will be available in the summer, so why cut our cloth now? Ken is ready and willing, with Comolli taking care of business as if a new manager was in anyway.

Ed: Wishful thinking do you think? Can you see any of these in the summer?

Red Gart {ed's note - I think it is very much wishful thinking, I doubt we could get any of those.}

Well Roy believes he has the final say in everything, and King Kenny07" is right; Roy won't be given control of the transfer kitty as he is only here temporarily.

So hopefully in Jan we might see thatt Roy walk after he is told he can't touch.

I just hope players know that Roy won't be around for long after Murphy's comments on how boring the training is! Roy scares the s* t out of me! I want to cry when I see him in the Liverpool dugout.

motivation is the biggest single factor in any sport and football more than most, our players look demotivated! HOW and WHY ?,
if we can not get mourinho, or hiddink, i would give holloway or coyle the job these men get the very best out of players, i know holloway is a bit of a joker, but he has got a personality as well as his motivation skills and believes he can win any game that is a good philosophy in my little world, bob paisleys skids

Managers move for many reasons, Maureen moved twice to teams not as successful as that which he was leaving, Coyle's name has been mentioned today and he left a smaller club that was higher up the table at the time so why wouldn't another manager leave a smaller, successful club like Porto for one that is more widely known? Maybe i'm biased but i'd have thought Liverpool was a pretty good job right now as any improvement will have a new manager lauded and he can hardly do any worse.

Guys this site is cool and lfc fans are the best in the world u guys have proven it time and time again.Now if nesv give us about 20million in jan&we sell idiots like poulsen(if we get something 4 this guy then thank god, 1million), maxi(4million) and skrtel(5million) this makes it about 30 million we should make kelly play rb and g.johnson should play rm Stevie&Meireles cm with lucas and spearing as back up and don't sell alberto he is class on his day he the best in world.We need a world class lm like mata, turan and young (all not more than 15million)&babel 4 cover.for now remove maxi put babel he was good against stroke he is selfish but has pace and great shots which is what we need cole/ kuyt should play of nando and when nando is injured we should have kuyt and ngog as back up.Plzzzzzz roy give pacheco a chance old hog.Our left back needs serious strenghing konchesky is not good enough.With remaining 15 million we should be able 2 get most of the lb in the world.

{ed's note - Klinsmann was just the figurehead mate, Loew was the man who got the German team playing not him. I don't see any reason to even bother considering him.}

I guess you are right Ed. I did a bit of research and it confirmed what you said. Do you think we have a chance at getting Jogi Löw then. I know he has stated his desire to continue on as the Germany manager but I do not know if he had any clubs knocking at his door. Again my first choice would be a home-grown manager like O'Driscoll, but if NESV want a big name then why not Löw? I don't know if he speaks any English.
Anfield Rapstar {ed's note - I believe he speaks good English, I am sure I saw him giving an interview in English but I could well be wrong. I don't think we would have much of a chance of getting him unfortunately, I think he would be an excellent appointment if we could.}

My only worry is that we haven't got a solid enough set up at Anfield yet to be taking a close look at what's going on and making an intelligent, necessary decision to change the manager. I totally agree that we need to get the right man and shouldn't rush into another appointment we'll live to regret but surely Dalglish and Comolli can do a job until we get someone in? I'd be looking at Deschamps. .I reckon if we go knocking again we'd get him. We tried in the summer but that was under the old regime and Commoli's presence might also be a boost. He's a good, innovative young manager who took Marseille to the title last year after decades of underachievement. .sound familiar? What is annoying right now is that, nationally, Hodgson is getting off lightly because Mancini is under pressure and Chelsea have just lost 3-0. What do you reckon Ed, is anyone there to bullet Hodgson at the moment? {ed's note - I don't think they are looking to get shot just yet, but that could change if Roy doesn't sort things out quickly. Patience has to be wearing thin by now, Roy doesn't have the fans or the players backing him and Comolli must be in their ears telling them that.}

I think you will find sterling his still 15 Ed. turns 16 December people should let him progress more before shouting for him. I feel sorry for Mavinga and Wilson myself.Konchesky is useless and Carra, greek , and skrtle, have conceded enough goals this season.to warrant being dropped. I think peoples love of carra are not based on his ability with a football he is just an hoofer and the way he is alowed to scream at players is a disgrace he would be sacked in most jobs. there is more to being a defender than throwing your body in the way of shots and crosses and he actually didn't do that to well in the last two games.Before you scream at me watch the games, and tell me i am wrong.He was giving a chance at a young age he should step down He is not Mr liverpool.To me he is a problem to any new manager because he believes he is king.

The two perm teams that Mourinho is interested in is Aresnal and Manchester United although Manchester City and Liverpool would be his runner up choice.
Manchester United is the club he desperately wants although Manchester United have never indicated they want him. Infact they have named others before him.
Liverpool have a slim chance of getting him but then it's still a chance.
I wouldn't bet him as next manager of Liverpool. Quique Sanchez Flores is a very good up and coming attacking manager and maybe worth a thought!
Am I right on above comments Ed or what {ed's note - I don't know mate, I haven't got a clue what Mourinho thinks, nor would I want to guess! The guy is a law unto himself, but I can't understand why he would want the United job, it is a hiding to nothing, especially with their money problems.}

anyone think he has flipped?
well he is now apologising for the rant over glen johnson he says he didn't mean to look like he was criticising the player, ! !
i have rarely heard a more damaging personal attack on any player from his manager, definitely no liverpool manager has done anything approaching this mad outburst, houllier on david ginola, but they were not at LFC at the time,
i watched him when we played in turkey this year he looked like he was actually crying, and as a poster said last week when being interviewed he looked like he was trying to strangle HIMSELF! every time he gives an interview he f@@ks up, im not looking forward to the hammers game, bob paisleys skids

Good evening to ed and all you reds fanatics!
so , it looks like we are back on the management trail again; there are no excuses for the last two dismal results, for whatever reason, so where do we draw the line? do we give roy more time to see if he improves, knowing that all the time he is in charge the morale of the team is getting lower and lower, and risk the loss of our core players in january? or do we move him on or bring in someone to manage with him, knowing it will have to be someone the players will look up to, a man to restore the liverpool way, on and off the pitch! some one who knows and can relate to our amazing history.
so redmen who is available? before i give you a list to mull over, do not forget damien comollis appointment which shows that NESV are quite happy to poach another member of staff from another club, plus always remember the saying " be careful what you wish for".
putting this aside i am sure that the new owners are quite capable, and know what there next move will be, and the sort of manager they want to take charge, as i am sure they do not see roy as the person to take us forward, but information regarding this issue is almost impossible to obtain, so in NESV we must put our trust.
if they intend to tempt a manager away from their present club then your guess is as good as mine! but, if they are looking at available managers here's a list of some of the unemployed managers names to mull over:

marco van basten
bernd schuster
jurgen klinsman
martin o'neil
gareth southgate
gordon strachan
alan curbishley
kevin keegan
glenn hoddle
glenn roeder
paul jewell
phil brown
and steve coppell, who i have left till last because he was born a liverpool lad and lifetime supporter! could this connection be what we need to restore the good times at anfield? he openly refused to manage again in 2006, i think he would be tempted, if offered! who knows? one thing for sure NESV KNOW, please don't make us wait too long, our patience has run out with roy.

Did anyone notice the arguments with carra yesterday, as I mentioned the other day for you all to look out for it, it's happening every game now there all fighting back at carra. Roy has to go now, the whole club is worst now than 12 months ago, ok were not in debt no more but the squad and club are in dire states, am telling you all this club is still in such a mess and can still get a lot worse, we need Roy and get a big strong personality in who takes charge and sorts the lot, I said about 3/ 4 weeks ago I can see Roy being sacked after the west ham game and kk will take the rains for spurs game wich will revive reds just as Harry did wen he took over spurs and started with a win against lfc, and all this that the right man for job is not available lfc used to make things happen nest need to identify who is best man and make shore they get him what ever it takes any barriers then blow them to bits to get him in. If he the right man then get him no matter the cost The hurdles the consequences .

Andre Villas Boas? Learned a lot of his trade off Mr.Mourinho. He's only 33 years old so he's young and he appears to be very vibrant.

I've always said that one of the qualities I like in a manager is someone who is capable of making a team a solid unit who don't concede many goals which is why Jose Mourinho's managerial style is the type of style I love and the type of style I would have if I was a manager. But at the same time, be capable of making a team attack effectivly.

That's why I had reservations about Pellegrini, because his teams conceded a lot of goals.

Anyone read about what he did at Academica? Bottom of the league, he led them to safety by 10 points and they were renowned for having a solid defence but playing good football.

Porto have a solid team under him, and also play good football.

Honestly, lets get Boas in and take a chance on him! Good young manager

14 Nov 2010 18:07:03
The other day I posted about some young managers from the UK who would be good and it did not get the best reception. So if we have to go for someone proven and from the continent, my two choices would be Jurgen Klinsman and this Andre Villas Boas (sp?) bloke from Porto.

Klinsman would be awesome if he could get us playing the fluid attacking football that he endoctrinated into the german national side. Also he could probably get us some good young german players. The chance to have the likes of Marko Marin, Lucas Podolski, phillip lahm and should i say it bastian Schweinsteger gets me excited. Ed what do you think of Klinsman? I know for a fact that his English is very good because he was a pundit at the world cup and he his time at WHL. Would NESV go for him? {ed's note - Klinsmann was just the figurehead mate, Loew was the man who got the German team playing not him. I don't see any reason to even bother considering him.}

Rafa on his way back!

Impossible you say, lose against AC Milan today and Rafas gone from Inter by all accounts.

If that happens hes to be offered the coach role back at livepool, on the understanding that he will have a say but not overall control of new player purchases.

Trust me this will be put forward whether he accepts under those terms, who knows?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Can't see this at all. I thought Gerrard and Torres had fallen out with him big time.
Although Rafa does still has his house on the Wirral and apparently his wife and children still practically live there most of the time because it is where their friends are.

When Hodgson is removed, we must never allow the London centric media and press 'steamroll' their choice as the next manager of Liverpool, just like they did with Hodgson. We never have done this. Even Benitez was mostly unknown to many when he became Manager in 2004.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Absolutely correct. First they push the availabilty of Hodgson by asking Hodgson in interviews whether he wanted the Liverpool job. He said yes. Followed by big spash breaking news on the back pages. He is then appointed in July.

But since saying so on here things have tightened up at the club and I am not getting told a thing. But I can't see any reason to believe that the players have suddenly become happy with Roy, nothing I have seen would lead me to that belief. If anything it seems to be getting worse, the discontent is becoming visible on the pitch from Gerrard for instance.}

OH DEAR OH DEAR. .

Time for even me to admit defeat in the defence of WOY. .

Yesterday has to be the most shameful excuse for a Liverpool performance in all my 39 years of supporting them.

I posted last week how we should give Woy a chance and get behind him, but that yesterday was painful and embarrasing beyond belief, now looking back at some of Woy's comments . . "best performance" after gettin beat by the blue s* te. "i hope fergie doesn't want nando". . and if he says the word PWESH'URE again im gonna launch my telly. . the job is way to much for this man.
hopefully our new owners can ask him to stay as a director of sorts (possibly making the cuppa for half time) but remove him with a bit of dignity left for both man and club. . .as for who to get, that is a big big question, who is daft enough to want to come here? ?personnally i would break the bank for the "special one" at the end of the season. Only if he wins the lot with Real he may move on, but he would want full running of buying and selling, and a hefty war chest. .can John Dubya offer him that?.
No other manager (even kenny) springs to mind to steer us and should we go for any other than Jose , then they to will fail and become the center of derision and mocking whilst bringing our club down to even lower levels. . . lets hope the "special one" cleans up in spain and says "i've done it here" "now for unfinished business in the prem". . we gonna have to be patient till then and hope John Dubya Henry and his team do a lot of work behind the scenes between now and the end of la liga to tempt him. . .

bel if prepared to wait for jose

What I foind annoying is that complimentary remarks about Hodgson from Danny Murphy in the press in June just about sealed his appointment in July. I thinks it's well known that Jose wants united job. Didn't he have a clause in his contract at Madrid that he could leave freely if he wanted to move to an English team. I think he respects Liverpool (well the Liverpool fans) but we would need cl football and a decent budget to convince him
to join. Anyway after saf goes I think united will be in decline. I think they are in decline currently but saf is keeping it all together

I reckon Mourinho would come to us if we were to give him £100 million to spend in the summer. I think he is the only manager who could get us back up to were we belong in a short space of time, and would persuade the likes of Reina, Torres, Gerrard that the future is most definatley bright with Liverpool. Plus he would certainly attract the worlds biggest players to our club possibly even if we don't qualify for next years champions league.

If nesv are to use the same thought process and ideal's in their selection of the player staff as they are in the future manager selection (ie young enthusiastic and makes good financial sense etc) why not make a move for André Villas Boas, he has coaching experience with chelsea under mourinho in the prem and is doing very well as manager of fc porto .he gets his teams to play very good attacking football but very importantly has got the balance of attack and defence spot on. so far in the portuguese liga porto record is
played-10
won-9
draw-1
lost-0
scored-25
conceded-4
i really feel strong about this appointment for liverpool to build a dynasty of winning teams (ed's words) for years to come.

Yeah i get that , but do you honestly know or are you just saying what you think might happen? {ed's note - I say if I am guessing or using conjecture mate. Are you referring to whether NESV are searching for a new manager? If so I am 100% positive they are, they just haven't found the right man yet, they have definitely spoken to Pellegrini, who even confirmed they had, but turned him down. It is up to you if you believe me or not, but Pellegrini did confirm what I said about him being spoken to, which backs up what I am saying. The last time I gave out info was about O'Neill being set to leave Villa, when I said that nobody believed me and I was laughed at and abused by most people for saying it. He was gone not long after that.}

thats exactly right SA YNWA. Jose wants the United job after SAF, he knows that if he ever took over at Liverpool he would not be accepted at Old Trafford.

I personnaly would love Jose, i know many LFC fans do not like him but there is no denying the guy is a winner, and can motivate a group of players. He would be exceptional for LFC but i do not believe he is a ealistic option. My personnal preference would be Guardiola but again this may not be feasible. King Kenny is not the answer in the long term, whilst he is a legend amongst fans the reality is that he is not a name that would attract top foreign players as most of them probably know very little about him.

I was only able to listen to the match on the radio yesterday. Can anybody clarify what the commentator stated that Gerrard clearly berated Hodgson and the coaching staff vehemently about tactics and substitutions half way through the second half (waving arms and pointing). Hodgson has lost control of the players. Sorry but he has to go.

Love the site. Never posted before. Feel like i need to get this off my chest (hope John.W.Henry reads this site) Roy Hodgson is completely and utterly out of his depth! I always expelled the virtues of patience and giving managers time, but there has been no improvement whatsoever at LFC since Roy took over, he has to be the most negative manager we have ever had at LFC. No excuses, we need a new manager at
LFC, NOW!
I AGREE AND FEEL THE SAME
also to the people saying ROY EVANS short memories lads the players had none or very little respect for roy every one who went the game in that era knows that, bob paisleys skids

Liverpool Rumours:
On the current state of our club.
Did anyone see the interview Roy gave BEFORE the game yesterday?
He wittered on about how he had been on tv more than a tv star(?) and how he wished it would go back to the old days and he wouldn't be seen so much. .that is very worrying for the man himself as I honestly feel he is having a breakdown. He realises he has been naive and has stepped into this completely predictable position by taking the job when he did. New owners, fans impatient for immediate success, a club in need of new exciting blood and style of play that he couldnt deliver and players who have basically taken the piss out of him, us and the name of LFC. Yesterady Roy even stated he couldnt take Torres off even if he wanted to if the player didn't want to come off. .wtf. YOURE HIS MANAGER! He will go very soon I think.
Players: so Roy appears to have lost elements of the dressing room, Agger, Pepe, Torres and now Johnson. How do we know? because the press have told us. .who told them? someone interested in letting potential new clubs to keep one eye open. Does anyone think NESV will be inclined to keep those players for the long term if this is how they or their agents stir up trouble in transitional times? We will change manager and I think a few of those will go too. And I am glad if that happens. Pepe best in the league and I hope you were being straight with us, Johnson no loss whatsoever, Agger great but costly, Torres becoming a liability (injuries, morale depleting body language, and injured again) Noone is bigger than the club and no player should ever be allowed to dictate terms and staffing to us, frankly f*** OFF! !
I do think Hodgson needs to go but it aint for the players to ring his chicken neck in public that is Benitez style politicing and we have moved on. It will all take time we MUST be patient.

It would be great to know whether all these rumours of players threatening to leave have any basis at all in fact. The Ed thinks that at least some of them do, and that is VERY worrying.
It could take many months to rebuild a squad after a big exodus.
If any of this is true, we need to consider (as NESV will be considering) whether it is more damaging to have a caretaker till July, or leave Roy in charge and see how bad things get.
At least with a caretaker, we won't lose the likes of Johnson and Agger (and maybe Reina)- and in all honesty, could the team play worse under ANY caretaker?
They've been outplayed for large parts in almost every game this season. Could the performances actually be any worse under KK (or another caretaker) for a few months?
Personally I don't think so, but who can say for sure? Its a big decision and needs careful thought, followed by clear action.
If NESV are too blind or stupid to see the long-term consequences of leaving Roy in charge, the fans need to find a way let them know how urgent this problem is.
But lynch mob mentality is not the answer- the fans need to know for sure that a public protest is the right course of action, by discussing the relative arguments and risks on sites like this one, and then coordinating whatever action they decide to take in a way that will have maximum effect.
I don't know the truth in these rumours of unrest, but they are very worrying, and it might be that the time has come again for the fans to decide what their collective views are, and to let their voice be heard in a way that NESV cannot simply ignore.

I have just been chatting with my journalist friend and he is attending the Northern Football manager's awards ceremony tonight in Manchester. I have asked him to get any Hodgson/ Liverpool related gossip once all the managers get well lubricated, of course!

Anyway, we were discussing potential replacements (he agrees that Roy is on borrowed time, but feels there is no point replacing a manager mid-season; he cites Mancini at City as a bad example of that kind of decision) and he mentioned Owen Coyle.

Not the most glamorous I know, but he's young, British (not a massively important thing but he'll understand the league etc), got Burnley and Bolton to play attractive football (quite an achievement!) and has a vision of how the game should be played.

If we don't look abroad, he'd be my favourite choice. Any thoughts editor and others?

TopCat {ed's note - I very much doubt he would leave Bolton, not at this point in time anyway, that is why I have never even put him up for consideration.}

Hey ed(s) and all
Real Madrid say they will fire Mourinho if they feel he is not 100% commited and looking to jump ship to Manure at the drop of a hat. The fans are keen on Vincente Del Bosque if they get rid of Mourinho (My Real Madrid Source).
If Mourinho wants the Manure job after Sir Alex (I reckon he does), then I don't see him coming to us.
Milan Jovanovic's words:
"Since I moved to England I've done everything regarding my job the way the coach wants from me, " he told Blic.

"I was really focused on not making many tactical mistakes. I've not done things my way. I didn't do things my way, I didn't take risks with my moves and actions."
. .Ed(s), Clearly the players are being restricted and can't attack as freely as they would love to. Roy is suffocating the players attacking flair! He has to go.

Torres ready to play for Spain after Liverpool reported he suffered an ankle ligament strain at Stoke.

If he pulls an injury with Spain he will not play for Liverpool again as long as ROY is the manager, and will force a move in JAN fully fit.

Roy Dodgson to get the sack & kenny to take over as temporary manager till a top replacement is found. If no manager is available by January, kenny should get rid of poulson, n'grog, mucus, konchesky, aurellio (why did we buy sicknote back again?, to bench warm?) and Ryan scabble. He should bring in Aguero, Adam Johnson (subject to availability), Mata/ Turan, Lahm, Bale and a sh*t hot defensive midfielder.

At the moment, I think the most sensible option in regards to the managerial situation is to relieve Hodgson of his duties, and let Kenny Dalglish take the reigns until the end of the season. Kenny is a club legend, he would have the respect of the players and he has experience as a manager.

Plus, Kenny and the board could all work together to bring in the right players to the club and work on building us towards the top.

Then obviously at the end of the season see what managers would be available to take over at the club and work from there.

The players seem to have lost respect for Hodgson. He always says the wrong things to the media, and from what I hear Johnson no longer wants to play while Hodgson is here (among others). You don't see Gerrard or Torres coming out defending Hodgson like they did with Rafa for example.

Time for a change, and pretty soon. We want to get 4th, so we need to make the change ASAP and stop playing this ineffective, awful football which will get us nowhere.

Many were afraid as Germany were entering the 2006 world cup. They were knocked out in the group stages of Euro 2004. But, Klinsman got them to play some very, very attacking and positive football. Look how amazing of a team they are now: 4-0 to Argentina, 4-1 to England.

The 2006 World Cup was in Germany so they had home advantage so I wouldn't read too much in to their performance. Since then Joachim Low has been the German coach and he has done a fantastic job but I don't see how that can be used to praise Klinsmann.

Could go for an english speaking manager but need someone who will command respect from senior players

Game strategy needs to change more energy and more pressing the ball we get overun by anybody who puts energy and determination in their game. Dont know if we have the players to do this

While we are in this position why not blood some of these kids who look so good in the reserves and will also have a hunger for action before the transfer window in jan to see where we need to strengthen

Our Defence is far to slow to compete against even the most ordinary of attacks

Deschamps has a contract with Marseille until 2012. What'll make he leave Marseille to come to Liverpool?
I would love him to be the manager though. Would be brilliant.

I can't speak for Deschamps but I would of thought managing in the English Premier League is a bigger challenge than the French league. Also can't see Marseille challenging for the Champions league but if we get it right we would be challenging again. Then the wages we would pay would be higher ( I think ). All depends if he would want to leave France.

Can anyone tell me what style of football Deschamps likes to get his players to play ?

Ok so agger is not playing because he is injured. I do remember though that even when he was fit he was still deployed as a lb not a cb, usually substituting konchesky. It is clear that roy being the prick he is would not play the best cb we have just because he wouldn't hoof the ball up the field like skrtel, carragher and soto. Another case is aurelio. Where is he? for what efforts exactly does he takes his wages? what was the point of re-signing him? Our defence needs an overhaul IMO.

At the start of the season most fans wanted Hicks and Gillett out and thankfully they are now gone. NESV are now here and will sort out the club from top to bottom. We will get a bigger stadium and will be more financially secure. There was no way they were going to sack Roy straightaway until they have seen his methods. After last night they will get rid of Roy and I am sure as I type this things are happening behind the scenes to bring in a manager who will help us challange again. As for the results so far this season they will continue to be good and bad until Roys replacement is in. Im sure January and the summer will be good times in the transfer market as NESV are not in this to be part off a mid-table football team. Keep believing, it will get better. It just won't be overnight. One step at a time and the next one is to say goodbye to Roy.

Up until last Thursday i was told Hodgson was going to be here till the end of the season.

They do not believe there is anyone available of any quality. Deschamps will not leave Marseille, they spoke to him in the summer and he was very interested but in the end he decided to sign an improved contract.

Hiddink was another they approached but he was not willing to leave his post with Turkey, he was interested but pointed out that he had never walked away from a contract.

Rijkaard will never manage us because of reasons not to do with football.

Also the general feeling around the club is that Dalglish is certainly not the right man for the job.

The info here i promise is a 100% true.

I think its fairly obvious even to a blind man that roy has to go. I completly agree with this (as i have posted from the beginning) however the problem we will very shortly face is who shall take over.
The usual candidates are reducing. .

Hidink. if you believe the press has stated at his age he doesn't want to manage a club for 7 dys a week for the next 3 years.

Rijkaard. looking more and more likely to be on his way to city

Pellegrini. gone to malaga

Oneil. can't see him being any better than roy to be honest

Kenny. it wouldn't damage his legend status one bit. whatever happened. but as a temp measure would be ideal. would he do it though?

Go for a younger unproven manager. yes this has possibilities. although steep learning curve required.

Klinsman. possible, although not entirely sure about him to be honest.

All i know is that finding a new manager for us isn't as easy as people think. we have got to ensure we chose wisely this time. there is not a bottomless pit of money there guys. john henry has said on numerous interviews the aim is to get us being self sustainable.

This really is one of our most crucial decisions. we have to get this right.

For what its worth. if i was john henry. give roy his p45, implore kenny to take over till season end. that way giving time to explore all the possibilities.

The longer roy stays the less attractive this club shall become. because the rebuilding job after roys rampage will be that much harder.

Dear Santa.

I know its not in our style to to sack a manager, and some are even questioning the fans that agree we should. But please can you bring us a new one? We are continually out-played by near-on EVERY team in all competitions. Forget about the players, if we had a winger blah, should have bought a 2nd striker blah blah. even messi wouldn't change our teams performance's, majority of our wins came from torres or gerrard. we need to play different tactics!

We don't press
Work rate is so patchy its a joke
We defend faarrrr to deep
we don't string passes together and dictate tempo
We hoof it up to a lone torres
every team we play press us so quick, we should do it back! !
. .
. . .
. . . .
etc etc etc

i believe there is enough quality in the squad to play decent football. and with a few additions we would be a top 4 team again for sure

Cheers Santa

Reckon roy will go after the spurs game as after that there is a run of easily winnable games (steaua villa newcastle utrecht fulham blackpool wolves) for the new manager to assert him self on the players giving us a good run before the very important january transfer window. .if roy is sacked now because of international friendlies the managers first proper week in charge would see him up against spurs AWAY not good game to start with.

If Carragher wasn't from liverpool, he wouldn't be in the squad.full stop. .hearts ruling the mind. he's been past it the last couple of seasons. .

Good Shout!
I totally agree with you on this. . . Even though he is certainly a LFC Legend it has to be said he has certainly slowed down in terms of pace and when he gets possesion of the ball with time he holds on to the ball too long for me and gives the opposing team time to regroup. Even then at best he only usually floats the ball up front into space when we should be playing the ball out of defence on the floor.
We need a fresh young CB with high potential to fight for the 2 CB positions with Agger and Skrtel and in Wilson we have one. . Why hasn't he been tried properly yet?

I am aware that this isn't a rumour but i would like to ask a question about Roy

What exactly has he won in his time in football as a manager? and at what teams?

The reason that i am asking this is that i don't believe we will ever win the title with Roy in charge think we need to look for someone who can deliever us the title as a manager.

Think the pressure is getting to him too as having an outburst about his players to the press come on every knows that's not what you do and lets be honest when it comes to new signings who's wants to come with a manger like that.

And what's with Damien Comoli is he signing the players i don't see the top teams having other people signing players it's the MANAGERS that decide and that's what we have to do

I don't want RAFA back but i can't believe if he was still in charge we wouldn't be in this mess. we would be higher.

To the guy who said bring back Roy Evans as a coach - spot on mate! He would have the respect of the players, knows how to coach attacking football ( remember this? it's called scoring goals and wanting to win matches?! ). We need people back at the club who have been winners, have medals as long as their arm, know what it's like to be in a pressure situation and SUCCEED!

Woy reminds me more and more of the first Blackadder flapping his arms around on the bench. I think the owners know by now he is out of his depth - his player relations, awful press conferences and total lack of tactical awareness are amazing for someone of his experience. The trouble is the owners don't want to rush in and appoint a new manager if the best are not available - it would only make things worse.
I think once the new CEO is bedded-in the hunt for a new manager will begin. Then, the new man will be given whatever funds he needs in January, within strict criteria, to start rebuilding.
2 wingers, 2 strikers, 1 centre back, 1 left back, one CM who can tackle and pass.
Of course he will also have the task of persuading all the players Woy has upset to stay - Pepe, Glen, Torres etc.
The trouble is all of this will have to happen fairly quickly or players will start leaving in droves, so I think Woy will get the chop and a caretaker manager will be put in place to placate the players and play some attacking football to get the smile back on everyone's faces - Woy is so gloomy.

Many were afraid as Germany were entering the 2006 world cup. They were knocked out in the group stages of Euro 2004. But, Klinsman got them to play some very, very attacking and positive football. Look how amazing of a team they are now: 4-0 to Argentina, 4-1 to England.

I think we should look at him. He has done some incredible things for the careers of Lukas Podolski, Michael Ballack, Miroslav Klose and Phillip Lahm. He can do the same for us.

I know some fans here are saying be patient ad hodgson can't be judged until he improves the squad with his buys. .
BUT. . . .

rafa won many times away. . but even if he lost to stoke away or lets say wigan. . i have seen liverpool attack alot and press higher up the pitch.

roy is clearly making our players defend first on away games and backing off that's why we have no possession.
so hes obviously never gonna understand we are liverpool fc. .we go to each games wanting to win! its not about the players. its about the MENTALITY. .
he can easily plays suso in the middle of the park with meireles. .and pacheco with torres up front and TRY. .

believe me the longer he stays more top players will be pissed off and leave. and what are we left with. .a great historical club whos become a mid table team.
its vital we get to 4th this yr or the other teams liver spurs and man city will surpass us. .even sunderland have better attackers than us.

Reina

Johnson Carragher Agger (problem)

Kuyt Meireles Aqualani Cole

Gerrard

Torres

A more creative team?

I know injuries have prevented the above line up but Woy would never have gone for it anyyway? Aqualani was beginning to come good. . So sell him and buy Poulson?

Kelly, Shelvey, Pacheco, Amoo, Wilson, Spearing, Ngog to take their chance in the Carling cup by the scuff of the neck and prove they can step up.

A large sum of money needs to be spent on a striker to compete/ compliment Torres.

If things carry on the way they are going, Torres & Reina will be off and we will be in big big trouble. With Woy in charge we won't be able to attract the quality we need.

stoke-liverpool 2-0, come on, show us that you are serius board, just suck RH, the way he start the game was sad, with all regards and respect for CARRA, he is puting his heart on the picth but if we want to be just a mid-table team, with uefa league expiriance then Carra is more then weclome to play, and understand y our best are getting stress, one for sure, no CL, no atractive players in jan, first we need to find atractive manager, and try to give young lads chanse kelly, shelvey, pacheco, ROY ITS TIME TO GO, PLS ITS IN THE BEST INTEREST(CLUB, PLAYERS, FANS).

First timer on here but great site, I am afraid last nights game was the worst I have ever seen and been a fan for 25yrs + tactics were appaling, I don't remember us creating 1 clear cut chance, awful to watch then another embarrassing press conference with Roy he is awful infront of the camera, I really wanted to give him a chance but enough is enough, he really needs to go now if we are going to salvage anything from this season. it pains me to watch us play in this way.

Another game, another disappointment. I am one of the many that has been slating RH for being too defensive, So credit where it is due, he did play with the two strikers we've all been calling for. I don't think RH is the manager to take us forward, but the players MUST take the blame for the debacle that was the Stoke game.

Maybe RH has lost the dressing room, Maybe all the players want him gone (as do I), but when they step out onto the pitch they are Liverpool FC and whether they want RH in charge or not they should be busting a gut to get 3 points but they are not. At the moment it is too easy for us to say that this mess we are in is completely RH's fault. The team that was put out yesterday was good enough to beat Stoke, but we just got out battled in every position (I won't say outplayed because I don't believe that stoke play Football, its more like american football with Delap as the QB).

The players need to stand up and be counted! !

Just a thought. . . . i thought Skrtel was awful yesterday, fouling constantly, I am not saying he was a world beater when benitez was at the club but he was a capable defender in a zonal defensive system, however now Hodson employes man to man marking Skrtel seems to think that means wrestling! In my opion it is the job of the managers and coaches, if they change a system to teach the players how to play within that system. This is another stick to beat Hodgson with but i think the drop in Srtel's performances must be attributed to Roy Hodgson and the coaching staff, another reason to get rid of him me thinks! !

I honestly don't know what to think about last night- I do remember that piece of sh*t Ferguson being on the ropes and there was talk of sacking him from Man U in the 80s, until he got a couple of key wins and began to turn it round. Is it still possible Roy is going to do the same sort of thing at LFC?
Can we afford to wait and see?
To be fair, he had a very unsettled ownership situation until mid-Oct. But that was all over a month ago, and the team are STILL playing crap, bar the odd 20 mins.
Like the Ed, I don't think he is a bad manager, and he's certainly a very decent man. But increasingly I think he's not the man for LFC, and this is now based on seeing very little improvement over a third of a season and in lots of Europa games (we mostly play sh*t in those too, really) - and don't forget we are now over a third of the way through the season.
The tragedy is that City are begging for someone to overtake them- its like they are trying to hand 4th spot to someone with their recent series of poor results. And what are we doing? We play like we don't even want the CL!
Can Roy's tactics be so unsuited to LFC, and his motivational skills so bad, that he can't even get them to f* * ng TRY and win it? Something is badly, badly wrong in that team.
I now think LFC are going to suffer more long term damage by keeping him, and that they have to get rid immediately- how much worse can it be without him? If we were playing well and not winning, you would hope- but we arent even doing that.
The Ed's rumours are usually decent, and I still believe there is player unrest, and I still think we are going to lose key players because they don't like his methods, AND because we don't make 4th spot, or even close.
NESV for some reason can't see what is obvious to almost every fan. He may be the man for the job, but it certainyl doesn't look like it, there is too little evidence of change, and the damage we risk by keeping him and continuing to fail is pretty catastrophic for next season too.

Well another woeful performance. Our away form is dreadful . . why? because we don't attack. Mark Lawrenson pointed out that if our away form is poor because of negative tactics then if we tried offensive tactics things may change . .simples! Roy stated that we had to change tactics once they scored !? AAAAAAAARGH !We have to be pro-active NOT reactive !

With regards to the team you could argue the whole back four needs changing - Skrtel is a liability, Johnston can't defend ( but, YOU DON'T LAMBAST YOUR PLAYERS IN PUBLIC! )Carra has no pace, Soto for all his failings at least you get 100% and he does attack the ball, Konch? well what do you say - will never be good enough
We need Agger back ( has a football brain but the constant injuries worry me) Give Ayala and Kelly a chance.

Look, it is simple . . WE WILL NOT WIN ANYTHING WITH ROY IN CHARGE UNLESS HE CHANGES HIS TACTICS ( HAS HE GOT ANY OTHER TACTICS ?) AND HE TRIES MORE OF THE YOUNGER PLAYERS - PACHECO, SUSO, AMOO, etc which is unlikely to happen JWH PLEASE READ

The clause that NESV had allowing them to sack Roy in 28 days of taking over expired on 12/ 11/ 10, unless it was 28 'working' days, which I doubt.

Can I ask fellow Liverpool fans without being condemned here. Why do you all want King Kenny back please? I'd certainly love him to replace that idiot Hodgson who has really test my patience (to put it mildly) on a temporary basis. On a permanent basis however, I have reservations. I mean he's been out of football management for a while now, he was a failure at Newcastle and Celtic. I only say because if he were to take charge and was a failure, I don't want to see the great name tarnished. I don't want to see replies like the man is Liverpool through and through and he has the clubs best interest at heart so therefore he'll be a success. You can't allow your heart to rule your head.

Or who do you guys want to see in charge, you too eds? What are your views please. Love the site.

Not a lot to say about that debacle yesterday - except I think that was one of the worst performances I have seen from a LFC team in the 50 years I have been a Kopite - and Roy almost thought it was acceptable with his after match comments - I wish he would shut up instead of coming out with utter s* *e.
Should he go or should he stay - only one person can make that decision, and it doesn't seem as if Mr Henry is going to do it - so it could possibly go down as the worst season in living memory for most Liverpool fans, in fact even for me, even in the bad times before we got promoted we tried to play football the proper way.

Liverpool will not fire Hodgson, but he might go back to Fulham in about 2 years. They will not release him because of the huge release clause and because he was able to beat Chelsea.
I personally don't like him cause he is trying to bring Fulham to Liverpool. EX: Konchesky, he tried to bring Zamora! He needs to know that we need someone that can compete with Torres for striker! We should buy Hulk, or Wolfswinkel

Let's face it Hodgson's face showed the degree of panic he's experiencing during yesterday's match against Stoke. A manager needs to be in control - Woy's anything but.
I honestly don't see what Sammy contributes either. It's time to get rid of Woy; move Sammy somewhere harmless; and bring in a manager who will command respect from the team and fans. Only then will there be a cohesive effort to change things round. And this needs to be done now - in order to give the new manager time to assess the squad before the window opens.

Look at our defence carragher, skrtel, kyrgiakos, konchesky. All hoofers and move slower than a fu*king dinasour. I have never seen a liverpool side with a worse back 4 than this. Skrtel is an absolute disgrace. Only sport he should've gotten into was wrestling because he knows nothin about football. All of his 'tackles' were fouls and stoke could've easily got 2 pens. I am sure still there would be many fools who would say give the manager time, its the liverpool way to give managers time. Well tell you what that has been our bane for the last 20 yrs. If anyone was worth giving more time after kenny, it was roy evans and maybe rafa, but not this clown who some ask us to support just because that would make us true lfc fans. When would NESV act? anyone knows anything ed, blair anyone? ?

Lucas sucks. shouldn't play a game. Poulsen sucks. shouldn't be at the club. The best central midfield pairing is Gerrard and Meireles. Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing are good back-up. And bring back Aquilani.

First defeat to stoke in 26 years. really bad post-match interviews (and getting worse i think).
surely big enough reason to sack RH? (and bring SL with you!)

what about Guus Hiddink for replacement, Ed?

Especially the players and roy too should be ashamed
of them selves. even with the players we have, we should be winning these games. there is no motivation and it's sickening. they must feel they don't get paid enough.

Mark Hughes would have been awful!

Rikaard will do crap aswell!

I say if Roys been sacked bring Rush an Daglish back for joint manager roles an don't rush i getting a manager the only reason that Roy was appointed was because he was "The man of the moment" if you think about hes done sod all !

Surely ssn would have it if it were true (please let it be true)

SSN start repeating their stories from 12-6 am. So you'll not get nothing from them untill 6 am at the earliest.

I hope it is true but i don't think it is. But the 28 day clause in Roy's contract that NESV have to use to get rid of him if need be ends on Tuesday.

SSN may loop throughout the night, but I don't think Sky News does. If Roy had gone it would make Sky News' sports bulletins (David Haye did).

Just had a thought what about Chris Hughton at Newcastle he would be cheap and knows Comolli well

What you think ed?

Kopsan {ed's note - I would worry he would turn the club into a reform school for thugs, like Newcastle.}

To the previous poster who is your source that Roy has indeed gone. Again I would recommend we go for someone like Andre Villas Boas- As our continental setup warrants a European Coach.

Please Mr Commolli put us out of our misery

{ed's note - there are loads of managers out there, we should be looking for someone up and coming this time. Big names cause big problems and see the club as just another job, it isn't the pinnacle of their career for people like Hitzfeld or Rijkaard.}

isn't Liverpool the pinnacle for Roy and he puts the club first but he's still f*cking it up. {ed's note - yes but Roy is a small minded defensive manager stuck in the 80s, when long ball ruled.}
