I believe that BR is correct that we don't have enough depth in the squad I think that we must sign a creative midfielder to sit behind the front trio who ever that maybe. Someone that is similar to a modric, isco or eriksen style of player that could put the ball through the eye of the needle and then I think the first eleven is picked when everyone is fit and then it just about improving the depth of the squad but also improving the quality of it as well

Mark the red

Modric? We can enjoy his 5 assists a season, much like he did for tottenham

I think we should look at isco. He won't have crazy wage demands, young and not crazy expensive.

Suso can be better than the pair of them, give him time.

All we need is a new manager, we have a good team a dissen manager wuod get us top 5 no problem

Ben afra or gaston Ramirez for me in the summer. Isco wouldn't come 2 a non CL team IMO.
Daniellambretta

We don't need a new manager ! BR is good. Its new owners we need.

FSG are the ones who didn't buy a striker in the summer, remember? They buy that one in this window and everyone thinks that's great ?

What they've actually done is complete the summer business, and then reduce our thin squad further at the cost of £7mil in payoffs to Cole and Sahin loan !! Great business and that £7mil will be out of next summers budget as LFC won't do any more this window !

Wake up people Sturridge was left over business and they've fooled fans into thinking they're swift and doing business in Jan etc.. Only a million away from Dempsey, same for Ince, not much left after that but maybe a loan deal ....But hold on 'we have the money to buy anyone' REALLY??

14 Jan 2013 08:00:17
keisuki honda 15 mill max...
cheaper and better than errikson, snidjer, or modrich..
excellent left foot..free kick specialist..
small skillfull like silva...
y on earth are we not going for him is beyond me..
sell allen and bring honda..simple..

The owners don't pick the team and they did choose to over pay for Allen. They are partly to blame for the summer fiasco but BR could have done better with what we have.
CR

Who would buy Allen?

To be honest, you guys are completly lost, trying to strengthen a position with plenty of cover, what are shelvy, suso, gerrard, sterling, downing, sturridge, suarez, borini, assaidi...they can all play that position...if you ask me we need a left back, and we need a defesive midfielder to get the best out of lucas as well as cover, and we also need to offload doni, carragher (hope he retires at the end of this season, the guy is on 80k a week and i love him but he has been finished for 2 seasons now and to free up wages in the form of him retiring would open wages for 2 very good players next season) mido

Pointless talking about a new manager until we have the CEO and board capable of identifying the right man.

Would you trust Henry, Werner and Ayre to get it right? Ask yourself that question, and be honest about the answer.

We're stuck with Rodgers until we're in a position to actually have people capable of finding the replacement, so let's support him, at least by not calling for his head.

Our club needs stability, not to see the manager's door revolving yet again.

hi eds, great site BTW.
Just wanted to know that if what Stevie has said that we should be signing some experienced players. if that is the case and it seems Ian ayre agrees, do we have a real chance at getting frank lampard in?. also if there is a chance of Flanagan going out on loan or is he already on loan? he seems a great prospect, i think we should not sign as many young players if we are to go with BR plans and get more homegrown players in from the academy. {Ed002's Note - Flanagan is still at the club. To the best of my knowledge Liverpool has not approached Chelsea about any of their players - elderly or not.}

Frank Lampard is a quality player.... But it's well documented that he and Gerrard don't blend well in midfield, just look at England historically with the two of them playing together. Can't see it myself. We could re-sign David James though! He's doing well at Bournemouth at the present time!

England have won more games with lampard and Gerrard together, then not

**** off 002 {Ed002's Note - Obviously every post like this just embarrasses the Liverpool fans more and more in my view and no doubt in the view of many, many others. The reputation for knowledge and humour amongst the fan base is long gone - with vegetables like you anonymously trolling web sites and abusing people.}

Liverpool are preparing a £12mil bid for Southampton's Luke Shaw, and are prepared to loan him back to the saints until the end of the season. Brendan Rogers and his scouts have been highly impressed with his performances in the prem. arsenal are also interested in signing him. A bidding war could be on the cards

He has just signed a new contract so unlikely to happen.

Y would we bid 12m for anyone and loan them back? We barely have funds as it is!

Red Lee

Not going to happen he's already agreed to sign a new 5 year contract with saints.

13 Jan 2013 20:11:53
While Luke Shaw is undoubtable a great talent, I think Robinson will be plenty capable of commanding the left back position for years to come. £12 million is a bit excessive for a 17 year old lad, who may hamper our own talent's chances. Much cheaper and the competition would be good but a high price for him would be unneeded and wasteful.

Jolly Red

He has just signed a new contract.

Wasn't Shaw just injured in a possibly very serious manner yesterday? Could be a cruciate ligament.

Dan.

12 million !! Who is putting this offer in, Kenny?

Shaw hasnt yet signed a contract just agreed in principle for june when he turns 18. I for one would love us to sign him i think 12 million is a bit steep maybe 8 million which in my opinion would still be a gamble but one worth taking we need a left back and he fits every criteria of this new policy and enrique is average at left back but unbelievable at left wing so for me them two together would be excellent.
Hopefully the lad has done nothing serious anyway.
SB96

Why blame Dalglish.

Thanks for the reply earlier ed 002, that's the way i have always seen it to, torres back to Madrid and sneijder rumours a load of rubbish.
At the back we look suspect it has done for a longtime now, rafa knew it and played 2 defencsive mids to protect them.
Given we have 3 fit forwards now in your oppinion do you think it will be this area he looks at next?
Having been out of the country a while now I have lost trackof some long term players that we looked At, what happened with the lad leroy fer? He looked a good option at one point?
Cheers ed,
rnred {Ed002's Note - I expect Liverpool will continue to puch for Tom Ince. Nothing will happen with Fer in January but there is interest in a central midfield player (Inan) - but the summer looks more likely.}

Ok ed2 about Tom Ince mate. Have swansea made a bid for him? Have we upped our bid?

Cheers
Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - There is interest from Swansea but I don't know if a bid has been made or not - I suspect not just yet. }

Cheers ed, do we or anyone else still hold an interest in fer do you know?
And do you see your team getting a new face in this window ( falcoa? Excuse spelling) all sems a bit quiet at Chelsea.
Rnred {Ed002's Note - Nothing I am aware of right now.}

Don't want Sneijder anyway.

At ed002, is the interest in Inan strong, have lfc been scouting him for a while? {Ed002's Note - There has been interest for a while and the suggestion of a move for him in the summer.}

13 Jan 2013 18:07:11
Looks like we haven't given up on the chance of getting the Wolves young striker McAlinden regardless of the fact he has just signed a new contract at Wolves, Rogers is reported to have said he thinks he would still be a bargain for the future.

He only signed for 18mths according to SSN, I also heard that we were still interested.

I no liam and his family and he not heard anything

Well, I've read enough for now, I'm off down the Lamb & Vulture for a swift half

Chris in Tamworth

Hi Chris in Tamworth, I remember a while back you were mentioned about going to Scotland in the hopes of getting a busines venture off the ground. How's it going? Enjoy reading your posts.How its going well.

One has to wonder how come Chris in Tamworth's posts (whether related to rumours or not gets posted on the main page.

Thanks mate, yeah all went well in Glasgow nothing will happen now until later in the year but hopefully I'll make a few quid out of it. I haven't mentioned it because I got a lot of grief from certain posters.
The long and short of it is I had an idea for a publication which I pitched to the publishers in Scotland and it will be hitting the shelves next spring, all being well.

Chris in Tamworth

Drink's with Rodgers and Fergie, nice !! Beardsley's Boot's

Best of luck. Hope you get your box! Ickenham Red.

13 Jan 2013 16:29:07
ed, any chance that the reds will sign sneijder and torres or either, i personaly would love to see both, and torres back, he hasnt lost it yet surely ?i think he could do it for us, a real cham league foward line {Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

This is getting really, really boring... Singred

He hadn't been doing it when he left, he hasn't did it since so why would you think he'd rediscover his form if he came back.. MonaghanRed

Have you not seen Torres play at all in the last three seasons ?

I agree with singred im tired of hearing how torres is going to suddenly come back to liverpool and suddenly get his form back
RedRoss

Sneijder won't happen. Torres might!

Oh my god....if liverpool ever just say they are intrested in bringing back torres i will start watching man-city and am sure 99% of the true fans feel this way!! how could you want that rubbish making 150 k a week and sold us!! he is not a club hero, he never won us nothing, so what he scored some goals here??? its beacuse of how we play, as soon suarez got used to how we play he is almost half way to what the traitor scored!! sturridge is double the player torres is and chelsea are stupid simple as that!! wait and see....

13 Jan 2013 15:41:55
eds, what do you make of the rumours about valdes coming in to replace reina in the summer?
YNWA {Ed002's Note - See previous answers.}

Valdes would not survived in the english premier league. Reina is better then.

Valdes is a poor keeper and probably the weakest link in Barca's team....not sure why LFC would be interested in signing him. He'd get destroyed at set pieces in the EPL

Barcelona are that good you rarely see valdes in action but when you do see him he isn't the best keeper. I think it would be a very foolish move to bring in valdes

As I said yesterday. No need to look further than sunderlands if we sell reina. He is quality and only 24.

Daniellambretta

Why would Valdes leave Barcelona?

Butland? De gea? Friedal?

Personally I think that its horrendous that we are even linked to a keeper such as Valdez. I can see the merits in selling to improve the team but to set out to buy inferior quality....? I really think that this sounds like a fabrication.

I must admit that I was delighted at the time when Utd were linked with a £28 million move for him. It was a couple of seasons ago but sadly came to nothing.

GOD :O so you suppose you can take over barca in real life, set him to transeferlisted and not needed by the club so he might take a wage cut and even consider leaving barca, then you should wake up from your f.m dream...and after all that said matey, reina is double the keeper valdes is...

13 Jan 2013 15:41:32
For me, the eds, ed002 has called Sturridge, Ince and a loan deal for a while now (I can't remember if sahin was called before he came) but for me, they are pretty much on the pulse along with Macca..

Now its seemingly big in the media overnight that we are in for sneijder, however for me the eds/Macca aren't calling it despite all the media attention, so me if these aren't calling it, with their previous track record (as much as is like it) then the chances are, it isn't happening - in my opinion

Cheers

Ray

Probably isn't happening. But can you just imagine the game today with Allen off and Sneijder on? Not sure if we would have won, but I could atleast stop pulling my hair out. {Ed002's Note - It was a shock not to see David Villa start as well.}

Sturridge and Torres only signings.

Clearly Ed, whatever you say, a player of Sneijder's quality today would have massively influenced the game. Joe Allen was really bad.

Gogol

13 Jan 2013 13:16:50
liverpool have joined the race to sign shrewsbury winger jon taylor

13 Jan 2013 12:33:31
SSN have just said this second we (Liverpool) have no interest in sneider have youse seen this yourselves?

Yes probably true but it won't stop them peddling odd's on sly bet to waste your money, always seems contrived to me.

Leeb7red.

Keep aiming your sights this high

All for the cameras mate.

13 Jan 2013 12:19:58
Snjider is a good player but he has not played that much and will need to get match fitness, add to that br likes 4, 3, 3 and we allready have gerrard, Allen, Lucas, shelvey and Henderson it seems a very strange move to spend so much on an area we have well covered. A holding midfielder would be more understandable given how we struggled when Lucas was out.
Anyway do you think torres will end up back at athletico Madrid ed? That will stop all the rumours on here once and for all. We have our 3 strikers and sturridge has not left Chelsea for us to sit on the bench again because of torres. {Ed002's Note - I think Atletico the most likely destination.}

Excellent post! Reynard

Well we go for the player because he's better than Shelvey, Allen, Henderson, Lucas Eric.

Sneijder to replace Lucas?

13 Jan 2013 11:55:17
Ed's Swedish site reporting that victor valdez may be an option any truth in this?, hope not, i really don't like him, reina suits just fine if that's the case... {Ed002's Note - I don't see Victor Valdez moving in January but Barcelona are after one, and more probably two, goalkeepers. To me it would be a dumb move by Liverpool to do such a thing, but it strikes me right now that potential dumb moves are popular amongst the fans.}

Oh please ive heard it all now, why would we want Valdes when we have Reina who is by far a better keeper, Valdes and Casillas are only Spain's No.1 & 2 as they play in Spain, if Reina played in Spain im adamant that he would be Spain's No.1 keeper.

BigD

13 Jan 2013 11:52:56
Heard that Downing might be going too Sunderland on Loan....and Milner has been offered too us on Loan, by his agents...
Kabir
plz post, its credible

So we are shipping out a reformed Downing who is a winger for another hard working central midfielder?

I doubt it.

BigD

Downings run in the team has coincided with our best run of the season in terms of results. I've said before he's a second season player and from his interview in the Sunday Times today it's clear he wants to stay and fight for his place.

PieInTheSkyMan

Why would Downing leave in his current form.

13 Jan 2013 10:34:08
Eds fellow reds, I know it only paper talk, but I read a few weeks back that liverpool had enquired about sneidier in early December and that was in the times.

13 Jan 2013 10:25:09
All this talk of sneijder? If you listen to the clubs statements then you should realise that its very unlikely that the club is going to sign sneijder. His age and wage demands are on the wrong side of the scale. And what with our pledge about giving the youth we are grooming from the academy the chance? The reason our academy continues to be so successful and will continue to attract the top young talent from around the world is because people now have proof that if you join liverpool academy, and your good enough, you will get your chance. Buying sneijder is a risk, its costly, and we could upset some young players morale. I rate sneijder, i'd like to see him play for us in the hole. If he really wants to play for liverpool he will take a pay cut to 140k. If its a football decision he will make that sacrifice. And that's the beauty of being Liverpool. A lot of people would take a pay cut just because of the attraction of playing for our club. If he's money orientated first of all then we don't want you no matter how good you are. Either way we are in a win win situation.

We will never win the premier league with only youth you need a mix of yout and experience I know what your saying about this guy but he is the perfect number ten.

Didn't you see what SG said youth can win nothing. We need exp out there. Club's transfer policy is a joke. We let Ince go for 500k and now willing to pay 5 m for him. We got Sahin and made lil use of him. Assaidi is yet another mistery! I am not saying we should get Sneijder. But cannot agree with this all youth policy.

This is a ridiculous notion. If we bought the Dutch lad or loaned him whatever it is, then how will that upset anyone, especially the youth players, or youth players that are yet to join us.

What are the youth players with us presently going to do? Go on strike? Form a rally? Become angry that a World class player has come in!? How utterly stupid to think youth players get to dictate who the manager should or shouldn't sign or play.

The squad is light, we've just replaced Carroll with Sturridge, we've just got shot of Sahin and it's only logical to foresee a situation where Rodgers wants to acquire a genuine attacking midfielder, unlike Sahin was, to help the team.

The youth coming through will not be affected by a positive signing coming in the door to help us win matches and dictate player in a more positive way.

Any youth player in the Country who is good enough to be in our academy/youth teams should not care about who's playing now as a priority!

Not when it will take them 3 or 4 years to make a break through to the first team. Wesley Sneijder is 28 at present, he would be 32 in 4 years time nearly 33, that's ideal for a youth player to come through and make the transition to the first team.

If you made you discussion about someone like Suso, then i'd be able to better understand your fears but to push it off onto any youth player we've yet to sign, it doesn't make any sense.

Sneijder would be a waste of money, he hasn`t started a game since september, by the time he`s match fit, got used to the team and the pace of the PL the season would be over,

wardie

I personally wouldn't go for him but if we were to go for him then forget your 140k a week i'd want him in at 50k basic a week 30k per appearance and then goal and assist bonuses similar to appearance amounts.

Then you'd see if he wants to come for the football and not the money, forget risking an unfit and possibly past it on signing up for 100k plus a week....

13 Jan 2013 10:20:16
So with us off-loading Joe Cole, Nuri Sahin (terminated loan) and Adam Morgan loaned amongst other's and The Papers saying were after Wesley Sneijder it seem's likely what are you're thought's Ed?

P.s 1st time posting :) {Ed002's Note - Man you really need to read some of the posts. This has been dealt with at length.}

If you don't publish the repetitive posts perhaps they will read the others!!

13 Jan 2013 10:19:56
Hi Ed002,
rumours going around about the possibility of Sneijder joining Liverpool. If, big IF, they were true, putting aside the financial aspects of the deal, do you think Ed002 Sneijder would add quality to the squad and helped in a significant way the club to bid for CL spot? thanks
tom poland {Ed002's Note - Sneijder is clearly a decent player but I would somehow doubt that a single midfield player would have such a significant impact as that.}

Sneijder can ball, he's been the ever present in the Dutch team, he'd be very good in the Prem, i don't think he'll come to Liverpool but he would do very well.

I personally think Chelsea might like Sneijder at Chelsea to possibly replace Lampard, who knows?!.

We certainly need someone with the ability to move forward and play the ball through the midfield to the forward three as a regular occurrence. Sneijder would be expensive but he would give a huge boost and i think would do well.

Man Utd could still show their hand, with Yaya Toure leaving for the Acon, maybe City will flex their financial might!? Can't see it at Liverpool but i said the same about Sahin, so only time will tell.

Just like Van Der Vaart didn't make any significant impact in Tottenham's team last year. Really ambitious fans we have...

Sneijder is one of the best midfielders in the world of course he could have a significant impact just like Gerrard has over the years. Just because he hasn't played recently class is

permanent and he could perform form us...though I still doubt he will join

Gerrard. Henderson a d Sneijder in midfield. Ohhh

Ed002 What about Van Der Vaart at spurs? Spent two years there and in his first six months he was absolutely unstoppable! He helped spurs build a side worthy of top four status. I think Sneijder could make a similar impact. He is a forward thinking 'number 10' who always looks to play the ball forward. With his range of passing and Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling making the runs it would work.

Even if we signed him for two years he would make a huge difference and it could only help the younger midfielders in the squad, training with a world-class pass master who has played in a world cup final. Get him in if possible!

It could be said that the placement of the last piece of a jigsaw is the most ''significant'' of all !! Although unlikely, Sneijder would fit the bill !! Beardsley's Boot's

Someone forgetting about sturidge hmmm

Id say a single player is carrying our team right now..why not add another to help him

Id say a single player is carrying our team right now..why not add another to help him

Hi Eds,

I currently live in Kosovo and check your site and various English tabloids daily. Today most major Sunday papers speak about Sneijder coming to Liverpool. I know you have addressed it but where is this coming from? Is it just lazy journalism and pure speculation?

Secondly, can't see Torres on loan or transfer happening whatsoever.

Any input is always appreciated.

Kosovo Joe {Ed002's Note - I don't where the Sneijder originated Joe. Certainly there has been no approach from Liverpool about Torres, but discussions have been held with another club regarding the player.}

Any chance you can reveal which club has had discussions? I'm assuming a Spanish or Italian club, right? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid.}

I had a feeling it would be either Atletico or Juve personally. Do you see it likely that he'll go "home"? {Ed002's Note - He will leave permanently in the summer and I would think Atletico Madrid is the likely destination. Juventus has a very specific list of targets and Torres is not one.}

Oh and do you think that it will involve Falcao going the other way? I really hope not. {Ed002's Note - Falcao will leave Atletico Madrid in the summer and they are actively seeking an alternative. Chelsea is one option for him.}

13 Jan 2013 09:58:55
The sneijder rumour just won't go away but personally I can see it happening as it goes against the fsg policy. But you need to dream every now and again.

eire red

Bellamy went against FSG's policy as would have Dempsey. Any player still at the club over the age of 28 and taking ''high wagers'' can technically be interpreted as, ''going against the transfer policy.''

Rodgers has openly asked Carragher to stay on beyond this year. That could be understood to go against the transfer policy of FSG.

With the huge leaps forward we've made and the transition that has taken place within the squad in terms of the amount of youth now in or on the edge of the first team, we should be able to go out and lure a quality player to come in.

Suarez, Gerrard, Lucas, Agger, Johnson, Skrtel and Reina are top players, the youth coming through Suso, Sterling, Shelvey and Wisdom are all coming along very well.

We just need someone who can help tie the package together. Doesn't need to be a massive earner like Sneijder but he'd be do nicely.

13 Jan 2013 10:01:32
Fresh news on an old rumour but I've been told not to rule Darren Bent out. He's doesn't get on with Lambert and wants to leave. With Lambert not wanting to deal with relegation rivals, I think there's a chance this may happen. Personally I couldn't care if it did or not as I'd rather give Yesil or someone a run out until Borini returns (who I think will be a good player as his positioning was good, even if his shooting was terrible). We've got to give him the rest of the season to prove himself. Think of how we all treated Lucus under Rafa.

The Bent rumour is like the endless series of Dracula movies where the evil Count returns from the grave.For some reason we keep getting linked with Bent but no-one knows where the story comes form and more importantly why he's linked to us.Too old, to injury prone, and it just is never going to happen.

The Plank

Oh god please not bent

Borini is a killer born. Don't worry about that lad he can score for fun once he's played a fair few games and gets on the same level and train of thought.

Moving from Italy to England isn't always successful as Liverpool fans know all too well. But Borini will come good for us. His attitude and his ability make for a very successful player.

BoriniCanDoIt. {Ed002's Note - Aside from a year in Rome, Borini has been in England for six years.}

13 Jan 2013 09:25:48
Hi eds It is being reported that Amorebieta will be available for a cut price deal. We have been linked in the summer do we have any interest at the moment {Ed002's Note - Athletic Bilbao's Amorebieta is attracting the interest of Zenit, Everton, Norwich and Roma. He might continue to attract the attention of both Liverpool and AC Milan who watched the player last year. However, unless one of the first choice centre backs were to leave Liverpool, it strikes me that a bid in January would be unlikely.}

13 Jan 2013 09:07:43
willian has been given the green light on a move from SD, Could we enter the race to sign him as I believe a fee of around £17m might be enough and he would fit the FSG criteria on new players ?

JD {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Juventus have all shown an interest in Willian. Last January Chelsea backed off from buying the player as Shakhtar were looking for 35M euros for the player - the same figure that scared off Spurs in the summer. Willian's situation is getting complicated and Shakhtar are still looking for 35M euros for the player - although are very unlikely to get it - and are actively trying to get Juventus and Chelsea involved in some sort of deal whilst the player has failed to return to training. At best he will be expensive and perhaps Zaha is a more viable solution for Spurs. Liverpool has not shown any interest in the player.}

I'm pretty sure that a £17 million pound fee plus wages is outside our budget for this window so no Willian for us.

The Plank

It is a shame that our great club can no longer compete with the likes of Spurs, Juventus etc.
A reminder of how damaging Hicks and Gilletts reign was on the club. {Ed002's Note - That is not what was said. Liverpool has not shown any interest in the player.}

13 Jan 2013 06:14:49
You say Torres but be allowed to leave if a decent offer came in ed... Roughly how much would that offer have to be?

Thanks

MIKEYRED {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to go there Mikey.}

Haha okay, sorry ed!
MIKEYRED

Chelsea will look to recoup as much as possible of the 50M they paid for Torres.
Somewhere in the region of 25M will be sought

Somewhere in the region of £25m may be sought, but I doubt very much whether that is what they would get in the end.

The most i would pay is half a mars bar a packet of cheese and onion crisps and a reach around from ed02

13 Jan 2013 05:15:12
Is there any interest from Liverpool's side to buy either Cavani or any proven striker in summer?Also;do you think Torres will rejoin Liverpool this window?Thank You {Ed002's Note - Cavani will not be moving to Liverpool in January. A striker has already been bought. I have answered the Torres question at least once.}

13 Jan 2013 02:52:43
Eds, do you think that Ince could really benefit our team? I realize that we are short on fire power and it wouldn't hurt to have him at our disposal but I can't help but feel that signing him would be a mistake, especially since his first run with us was all but impressive.

Many thanks {Ed002's Note - It is a case of the manager seeing in Ince a player who would give the team options in the way he is looking to have the team play and depth to the squad. I don't know if his history with the club at a lower level is applicable to this decision.}

13 Jan 2013 01:26:14
can any of the eds confirm that synider and torres rumours are true would love to see both of them wearing a red shirt and kissing the badge {Ed002's Note - Good to hear from you The Badge. We will have to wait and see.}

Why would they be kissing?
Campbell

Haha nice one eds! :-)

Both rubbish. Usual crap from Twitter etc. I do not know why people make up these lies or why people believe them.

Haha, nice Ed.

Thank you Ed002. That made my day

Ha ha, good one edd!

Ed002 legend

Ed 002 strikes again. Quite a witty lady i must say!

WicklowRed

Hehe Ed is toying with us

More quality humour from Ed002. When is it your comedy tour starts? I want some tickets!

Haha! You wanna see them kissing, well spotted ed002

Square tomato

Ha ha, god one. Don't know if I'd like to see sneidjer and Torres kissing to be honest. Maybe a man hug after scoring.

Ha, this is the smartest response ever. Class 002!!

Ha awsome ed

Newspaper; Sunday People is stating that Ian Ayre is in talk with the ownerers about freeing cash for sneijders wages. As he is hoping to have a go in the English league rather than the Turkish...
Inter is only asking £8.2M for him.

I'm not sure if i believe it but it would be amazing to se sneijder in a brand new red warrior costume...

I definately believe there is something in the sneijder speculation from a certain LFC journalist who does this for a living. Its not all randomly made up from thin air. Just because we are not aware of LFC's interest, does not mean they are not interested. That does not mean to say however we are likely to sign him because the wages are a going to be a problem.

What I am hearing though is that he is willing to take a wage cut only if he receives a £2m signing on fee.

But one things for sure, Gala is a last resort if LFC or Spurs don't come in, hence the intense pressure from Gala as they know his head is being turned. One of the Gala cheifs even revealing "we cannot force him to come if he doesnt want to, he prefers the premierleague."

Chelsea currently have 2 recognised stikers, i don't think there's any chance of Torres leaving in January unless a club puts in a ridiculous offer

Eds what do you think of the papers writing about Liverpool attempting to hijack a certain dutch international's move to Galatasary? Any truth behind the rumour or just an attempt to sell more Sunday papers? I personally can't imagine Liverpool being able to afford his wages and then the rest of the senior players will be wanting more when it comes to contract talks. However signing a player of his calibre would show that the club mean business and may be a factor in convincing Suarez to stay. {Ed002's Note - On Thursday Galalatasaray and Inter confirmed that they had agreed a transfer fee but it was clear personal terms would be an issue. Also on Thursday approaches were made to two other clubs (neither English) to see if they would be willing to make an offer. On Friday there were talks in Milan with the player and Gala reps. If his agent is still hawking him around it would not be surprising. I don't see that any transfer of Sneijder would have an impact on Suarez staying or not. The salary demands really are staggering hence the problem trying to find an interested club.}

If he were to come here would there perhaps be a deal made in which a percentage of the wages are covered by Inter?

Why do you say that signing big name X, Y, or Z will convince Suarez to stay? He's just signed an extended contract and seems perfectly happy [ from his attitude on the pitch anyway ] at Anfield.Would you say the reverse applies and if BR signs a player Louis doesn't like he'd ask for a transfer? In any job you just have to get on with other workers and the same applies to football.Signing "big names" might show ambition but that doesn't guarantee a player stays or leaves.

Sneijder and Torres this window would be a nice statement of intent by the owners, and we could nab them both on the cheap. {Ed002's Note - Statement to who?}

Ha ha, some dreamers on here

Torres is finished! Time to move on

A statement that we're trying to recreate the worlds best team of 2008? Lets get Zidane too.

Statement of intent Torres couldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards, and sniejder really going to come to liverpool come get real, if he turns up I would be shocked

To suarez... so he knows top players will come in help get the club back to the top. and so he stays on with the club even if we fail to reach top 4

Statement to the men in white coats!

A statement to us from the owners and yes would be mint! why so sarcastic {Ed002's Note - It wasn't sarcastic. Why would the owners wish to make a statement to you by (a) buying a player who has failed to perform well for three years - including at Liverpool, and (b) signing a player whose transfer fee and wage demands would result in a three and a half year deal costing the club £50M? The money that could be clawed back from selling these players in the future would be tiny. If FSG do take this route, then I really do feel that there will be much to fear in the future.}

Statement of intent does not require a specific recipient..... Next time you try to be sarcastic, try being more smart 1st! {Ed002's Note - Let's just hope the owners aren't as stupid as you are.}

To the other premier league clubs. Doh! {Ed002's Note - What makes you think anyone would care? Did the Liverpool owners quiver and quake at Manchester United signing van Persie? Did the Liverpool players eyes fill with tears when Manchester City signed Yaya Toure? Was a Liverpool board meeting called when Chelsea signed Hazzard? Quite frankly, this whole "statement of intent" thought process strikes me as pitiful. If the Liverpool owners can raise even close to the sort of funds it would take to buy both Torres and Sneijder then in my view they would do much better to wait for the summer and look at the likes of Eriksen for the midfield role and El Shaarawy or Rodrigo as a forward option they would be building for the future at a lower cost with a much better potential for return.

However, clearly there is a swell of fans that want the owners to look to the past, borrow money against the club and spend it on the likes of Torres and Sneijder. But what do I know?}

Erm... The rest of the prem that we still want top players. Although if your over the age of 25 in the world of football LFC deem you useless. {Ed002's Note - When was the last time Liverpool were shocked by another club's "statement of intent"? How much debt do you think the club should go in to for this?}

I don't know why some fans are hell bent on Torres coming back, he isn't the player he was.

And there will be loads of Sneijder based questions today, due to a British paper reporting it haha.

Dont get the digs at the owners they have spent around £150 million since they took over. They have more than provided financial support.

Do you want us end up like Rangers or Leeds?

A statement from the bank, to show how much money they've wasted!

'If the Liverpool owners can raise even close to the sort of funds it would take to buy both Torres and Sneijder then in my view they would do much better to wait for the summer and look at the likes of Eriksen for the midfield role and El Shaarawy or Rodrigo as a forward option they would be building for the future at a lower cost with a much better potential for return.'

perfect answer ed2, much better way to move our club forward

Id like to second ed2

I'll third Ed02's sensible response. Good shout on Rodrigo too - looks a talent with the flexibility to ply across the front 3 and a good goal scoring record. My fear is that moves for the likes of the players Ed mentions would be funded by the sale of Suarez. He's reaching his peak and if he takes the view we are more than another season away from CL then he could decide to leave. Hope not but he's a top player and there are other clubs who can offer him the chance to win trophies in the next 3/4 years.

Would love Torres and Sneijder.

Eds, what can you tell us about snejder? {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath over a move.}

Hi Ed's, do you think there'd be any chance of Siem de Jong at all either this window or in the summer? Think he'd be a great signing for us, offering a goal scoring midfielder who can play up front if required! Cheers {Ed002's Note - Not in January and the summer is way off. Offers have been made by a couple of clubs.}

Ed I dont.know much about inan. Do you rate him, is he a.good.player? {Ed002's Note - I really have no interest in "rating" players but he is recognised as a decent player.}

Liverpool f.c are strongly linked with attacking wonderkid Leandro. Official scouts of Liverpool fc have been twice this year to watch Grémío's forward in action and reports back at melwood are they are amazed with the Brazilians talent. An offer of 7million would be enough to open talks between club player and agent

Bought him on FIFA 12 last year. He gets really really quick but doesn't develop any strength so he never really got past Suarez.

Wouldn't buy him.

To the original poster, what is your source and how do you know this?

I think £7m is a steal of a price i would be very happy if we could snap him up before another top club does i have also been watching him(and others from South America) and this kid is defiantly something special, he has an eye for goal, is very fast, good dribbling and ball skills, and would no doubt slot in perfectly to our way of playing, problem is, does he have ownership issues and would he need a work permit ?

BigD {Ed002's Note - All non Europeans need a work permit.}

I agree Liverpool should only buy a player if he's good on Fifa.
