No plans for Klopp to sign a Centre back in the Transfer window as of yet.

He can't sign anyone until Jan 1st anyway so assume he'd wait first to see a) if Lovren/ VVD are both fit and b) see timescales for Gomez/ Matip returning.

Everyone has to wait so no point worrying about it until Jan 1st.

Yep going to sign someone on a 4-5 year contract to cover a position we are short in for 6 weeks. righto.

Agree6 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 23:40:03
Why would he? Both Gomez and Matip are due back before Feb. No way they will sign a player just to cover the time they are off. They will look to U23 before that.

Oh course there isn’t! We have four first team cbs, why would he buy one?
Maybe caulker is available on loan?

Can’t imagine there would be either, our first choice pair are brilliant and the back ups are good back ups.

We've been planning to sign tarkowski from Burnley since the winter window. Obviously klopp knew this injury crisis was coming. He's a genius.

Klopp has no plans to buy a pink battle ship. at least not this season.

People do ask tho. Even as crazy as it is to want to sign a player after a couple injuries. I imagine you'd only do that if saw 3 CBs had season ending injuries, then you'd need to find a solution.

I was hoping to pick your brains about a rumour doing the rounds in Brighton about Pascal Gross.

Is there any truth to the stories that we are interested in him?

I live in Brighton and my work have two tickets in the 1901 club so I have seen quite a few matches over the last couple years and Gross has always stood out.
He is very good on the ball and his assist record both for Brighton and in the Bundesliga before his move is brilliant.

He however is not the most mobile of players which I think is the reason a top club has not come in for him yet.
He has a lot to learn about what to do off the ball which is why I think Hughton sometimes drops him for the games against the Big Boys of the league.

Against a stubborn defence at Anfield I do think he could be a very good option.

Hi Carra,

I posted it a couple of days ago and Ed001 said that whilst he rated the player, there'd been no interest from Liverpool.

I posted it without very much knowledge of the player and he'd never really caught my eye, but maybe I was just watching Brighton in games where Hughton had decided not to play him.

Has ejaria come back from loan? personally i eont understand it if thst happens heard rumours of that so asking ed01.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he has not been playing well, so Rangers would happily send him back.}

13 Dec 2018 16:56:42
I thought he was playing loads and doing a good job? Sure I've read lots of good reviews.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not since the first couple of games. He is playing because they have to play him, but he is not a good enough player. He is all fancy flicks and no sense.}

13 Dec 2018 17:42:16
Oh right interesting, to be fair I didn't see him as a player who would make the step up to the lfc first team, similar to Ryan Kent I guess. Probably end up a half decent championship player.

Hi just Wondering if any Eds or Reds with the knowledge or spare time could do a quick wrap up of possible transfer business in n out please.? Im assuming there will be movement heading out but not sure we will bring in anything in.? Maybe Lallana, Clyne, 1 of Origi or Solanke and Markovic.? Even if they all left im not sure we need replacing any of them at this stage tho. any help would be appreciated cheers.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect too much in January. Liverpool need a left sided midfield player unless Lallana can stay fit. They will need a back up goalkeeper at some point as well. They have shown an interest in a couple of young centre backs as well. But there is nothing new I am aware of.}

13 Dec 2018 12:01:17
Think we need a back up for Robertson too.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 12:19:16
On the Robbo back up question, we have Juanma (21/ 22), Adam Lewis (19) and Tony Gallacher (19) who have all had good reviews over the last few months.

Are none of them ready to step up and provide some competition/ backup for Robbo, especially Juanma who has been talked about quite a bit since he joined 2 years ago? Would love to hear from the Eds or anyone who manages to get to Reserve games.

Is Laxalt still of interest Ed for the left mid roll, possible in Jan or unlikely?

{Ed002's Note - Laxalt has been looked again.}

Thank you Ed002.

13 Dec 2018 13:46:47
Ed01 was thinking whether u can giv a quick say on juanma? thnk u.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hard to say because he was highly rated, then he went through a bad patch and is just beginning to rebuild his rep now.}

13 Dec 2018 14:06:07
Could ake be an option? As he can cover cb and lb.

Agree0 Disagree3

13 Dec 2018 14:11:40
I don't know how his season has gone at Milan (probably not that great if he might be available six months after moving there), but I think he'd provide good cover from the bits I've seen of him. He looked good at LB with Uruguay during the WC and I think he started out at CM and can play LM/ LW. Also has electric pace.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 15:34:49
Lerchy, I think the issue with Ake (as shown in last week's game) is that he is more a midfielder than a defender. And we have plenty of those.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 15:59:56
Laxalt can provide cover full back and midfield, seems like a good idea. Do think Moreno is the big weak link, if he was called upon.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 19:14:40
@Lerchy/ Zeddicus. He'd also be very pricey as Bournemouth would want to make a profit on what they paid for him and he didn't sign for them on the cheap. I think they paid between £20m-£25m, so if anyone was to come in for him, he'd be in the £50m bracket, which is way more than we'd pay simply to add squad depth.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 20:29:36
For me Mignolet is the big weak link. Prey there’s no injury or ban for Allison.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 14:51:56
Cheers for reply Ed002, with getting knee deep into this, I appreciate your busy but is Laxalt obtainable Andy would he command a high fee?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They won’t want to sell, particularly in January.}

13 Dec 2018 23:53:20
Don’t think ake would be 50 million. Bournemouth aren’t big boys, and he’s not that good. Wouldn’t want him mind though, he’s not gomez level.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2018 00:19:24
Who are the young centre backs we are looking at?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ruben Dias (CB) Liverpool have watched the Benfica CB on several occasions and watched him in a national game against Croatia in September
Dael Fry (CB) Liverpool has a declared interest in Fry as they look to bolster the HG quota - knowing that prices will increase - much is expected of Fry.}

14 Dec 2018 18:48:51
Moreno is doing a Stirling job keeping robbo honest. He is the unsung hero that is driving robbo to keep his place.

Agree0 Disagree1

12 Dec 2018 21:17:30
Hi ed's asked in the summer about de lift, are we still interested in him? And if so will we be upping interest in Jan due to the CB problems?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - a month long injury is not going to cause a change in transfer plans.}

13 Dec 2018 08:07:22
I would normally agree ed but our defenders are not that durable and the worry is we are left wide open at crucial times, be nice too know wat level nat Phillips is at but he only played in friendlies.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 08:40:49
i believe virgil van dijk will be able to lift whoever partners him in defense if they need any, in light of our injuries in defence.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 09:24:26
We'll be fine, there's no need to worry, bringing in another defender would be daft, we have youngsters capable, no need in splashing the cash on a new defender imo. What message would that give to the young lads? it'd basically be telling them 'you've got no bloody chance here so bugger off'. For the sake of a few weeks we'll just have to get on with it.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Dec 2018 09:30:45
I think if we signed de lift he'd definitely take us to the next level.

Agree11 Disagree0

13 Dec 2018 12:32:41
With 5 days in-between each of the next three games hopefully Lovren can stay fit and play. Seems Newcastle at home could be a good one to play Masterson and give Dejan a rest before Arsenal-City. Philips has an injury atm as well, but we've got George Johnston. Fabinho could also be used at CB. We aren't going to sign a player just to cover for a few weeks. Unless of course we go for Caulker again as a super-sub striker. He is a free-agent after all. ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Dec 2018 18:50:32
Hailstones - I think the solution you're looking for is to replace those players. So sell and them buy. For now we can't just but and over-stock in case of future injuries.

All I know is it’s someone who we looked at last season, not a definite he will be signing in January, but attempts will be made, if not it will be nailed on for summer if both clubs can come to an agreement, it is not Nabil Fekir, that ship has sailed a long time ago.
