The mirror are reporting that Rodgers expects to sign tello.on loan.

Mighty reds

Disregard it then, they are clueless!!!!

Tello isn't that good. Just cause he is at barca doesn't mean he is messi. No thanks.

Is that the same reliable mirror that told me im the fairest of them all

14 Aug 2012 02:49:43
They're just taking ideas from Macca and wait a couple days to print them so it's less obvious where they got it.

Oh yeah, I forgot that the mirror was the most reliable source ever {Ed049's Note -

Eds, sorry I know you have explained already at some point, but I'm sure a lot of us would like to know what's the situation with Ramirez? I used the search function but only came up with a lot of fan posted rumours, that I don't know are true? {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about them, not a sausage, I don't believe there to be any truth in them. Seems to be a joke that got out of hand.}

I was told that the Ramirez situation is dead! His agent had met with Liverpool officials but Liverpool did not make an offer.

MoMo

From what i have heard is that the agent for ramirez has met with liverpool but as of yet we have not put a bid in, plus also his agent has advised him not to sign for liverpool but is pushing him towards man city, also i have heard spurs have bid for ramirez but the financial package was not good enough.

I believe u can use twitter to make any roumour seem real

Has the Juan mata situation written all over it, everyone was talking about him and we never came close to signing him. He'll warm the bench at city and then get loaned out for the rest of his career when no other club is dumb enough to pick up his ridiculous wages! Damo_45

Guys, take anything that comes from the ' ' website with a pinch of salt...they seem hell bent on the idea of us signing Ramirez. With Dempsey quite likely that gives us Borini, Lucas, Gerrard , Allen, Downing, Cole, possibly Tello...you think Ramirez wants to warm the bench? or maybe he can have Gerrards spot?!! {Ed002's Note - I just want to make things clear - whilst in England Betancourt met with representatives of Manchester City and Spurs but not with any "officials" from Liverpool. He did meet with a third party who said that he would act as an intermediary with the club. You are reading too much in to this. If Liverpool wish to do anything in respect of Ramirez they need to approach Bologna directly as a matter of some urgency.}

13 Aug 2012 21:56:10
Just heard a rumour tonight from the club that we are in talks with Matias Suarez's representatives.

Steve's Cousin

Would be better than dempsy.

He is a class player shame it won't happen :( kopcastle

A laughable rumour, even if this were true it would be near impossible to sign Suarez due to work permit.... -_-

Are you also Martins cousin from earlier?

Hi Eds (Any Ed's)
This isn't really a question more of a subject I hope you can shed some light on. My major concern is not that Agger leaves it's who we will replace him with. I carried out some quick research and found that Rodgers only made one major signing with whom he hadn't worked with before in Michel Vorm. I find this very, very, very worrying and makes me believe if Agger was to be sold that the Ashley Wiliams rumours are all too real. I guesss i'd just like to know if you can give any input.

Thank you for your time,

~Jack the lad~ {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in Amorebieta and Godin.}

Great post good research. Have been noticing a trend indeed.

How can you replace our first choice cb (Agger) with a cb (Godin) who is behind our back up cb (Coates) in their national team's pecking order? Funny one! [FR]

Diego Godin plays for the other team i support (Atletico Madrid) and he reall really isnt good enough and no-where near consistent enough, as for Amorbieta Average at best. overall i am worried about Agger leaving although 20m+ is a heck of a lot of money for an injury prone 28 year old.

That Amorebieta is rubbish id rather have williams than him,or buy kjaer

Dont be daft.. there must have been a time when he hadnt worked with them either he has a new system and wants people who understand it and believe in it. if we dont have those people we need them

I gotta be honest here, im from denmark and a liverpool fan, and truth be told we can do alot better than simon kjær.

jasper.

Rodgers has made a great start as manager, and truly looks promising in the long term, but he could make one grievous error in selling Agger. It's not that he's irreplaceable, more that he LOVES Liverpool and cannot think of leaving. Those are the players we need at this club...as long as they are top draw, which he certainly is

Ezotezz

In response to Ezotezz post above:
You have hit the nail on the head there mate, I couldn't agree or feel anymore strongly about that argument. In this day and age to get a player that is so dedicated and loves the club is rare, as most players heads can be turned with the $$$$$$$ on offer. He has the chance to potential increase his wages by 150% I think in going to City and potentially win the league next season, however he wants to stay with Liverpool who finished outside of a European place. That is pure dedication and love for the club.

Players like this are few and far between and I fear that no septic tank would ever understand the meaning of this!! Hence a sale may be forced

To the above reply & Ezotezz:- Maybe the yanks need the fans to make it clear to them how we feel about this? BM

Eds please answer me these 2 questions. Where does Hendo fit in now that Allen has signed? Also, where will Sahin fit it if we sign him - dont Sahin, Hendo and Allen play in same position?
Husni

{Ed006's Note - It is all about strength in depth mate. Our midfield could be Sahin, Allen, Gerrard. Lucas Spearing Shelvey. Henderson and Adam can all play CM. This is far stronger than last season and we saw what happening with Lucas' injury. It blighted our season if honest.}

Adam and spearing arnt good enough anyway
lfclee

{Ed006's Note - Can't say I dont agree. They both try hard and I respect them but we need better players.}

Henderson will be groomed to cover both allen's and Lucas' position. Shelvey will cover gerrards and allens position. Gerrard could also play in allans position. Sahin will be direct cover for Gerrard.
Spearing and adam will be sold.
YNWA THE PIRATE

You forgot 2 things.

1.
steven gerrard is injury phrone. and is getting older dont expect him to play 50 games
2.
Gerrard can play in several positions. I would use him as a right winger. one of his best seasons was in that position.

Does anybody think if sahin is bought that that gerrard will play in a front 3 with suarez and borini or demsey if he comes

I think everyone has forgotten about last season when they complain about having too many CMs, if we have a midfield of

Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Hendo, Shelvey, Sahin

Spearing, Adam (this 2 likely to be sold)

it should be perfect midfield, very tight competition, with quality. if any of the CM gets injured, or banned from a game, we have no problem, and will field another quality player as well. our midfield is very strong right now already, and that is still without Sahin. though Adam and Spearing im guessing will go.

Kaizer

I think henderson can be utilised on the wing, or could even be turned into a utility player who can even play wing back.

I think Sahin could be turned into a creative centre back.

Ashley Williams? Garbage, he's the same age as Agger and would be overpriced. Why on earth would Rodgers get him in?

SuperDuperSuarez

I think henderson will be tried and tested in different positions and then be found out to be a weak link in the team, he cant tackle has no instinct or positional sense and doesn't possess any attacking threat what so ever, if your content with passing the ball backwards and side ways well he's your man! i would welcome any view on this as all i hear is people comparing him to Lucas, but there is no comparison at least Lucas tried to make a tackle and at least had a steely edge to him. He gave away too many free kicks in dangerous arears and has turned out to be a great destructive midfielder what will henderson turn out like? please tell me, the next Gerrard? I wish!(an honest opinion, which I hope he proves me wrong)

WoW you tear Henderso apart and dont even sign your name.Henderson is a young lad who moved rom his home to a major club and it will take him time to settle in.He has been capped at every int level for England so a lot of managers must see something in him.He was signed by KK you are the sort of person who wants world beaters and cant see the wood for the trees.

Lurgan Red

Don't think he needs to sign his name because what he is saying us pretty much all true, I did feel a bit sorry for him last season though having to play on the right but to be honest he gives us nothing other than he has a good engine.I think BR knows that and he will only be a finger player this season

Aldos tash

Strength in depth is one thing but 8 midfielders is something else. If sahin signs and adam and spearing leave then it will be a great midfield. i agree with the last couple of posts that henderson will come good. if agger is replaced with williams i might just rip off my eyelids and face the sun.
the wise one

13 Aug 2012 19:55:58
Ramirez and dempsey would be good to get in. Adam Johnson not so sure. Goes missing in games. What about Alonso, would be great to see him back. And be would fit into the style of play.

Adam johnson goes missing in games ?
yeah you will find him on the bench. would be a good signing. all 4 and we win the league

Would probably take a bit of slack for this, but don't want Alonso back now.
Yes, he was an absolute legend for us, but we're now looking for young, energetic players.
Can't let sentiment get in the way.

Also, to say he fits in to our style of play is debatable. Yes, he's a great passer, but does he have the stamina to relentlessly press the ball. He's also really useful when playing long diagonal balls (his best passes) Don't think this is how Rodgers wants us to play!

AZ

PLEASE stop with the Alonso story.I'd love him back but it isn't going to happen!

The Plank

Adam Johnson goes missing? pretty much same as stewart downing then at least you get a end product with AJohnson

13 Aug 2012 19:54:48
See the rumours of Alonso coming back have started up again. Any truth or any chance?

Cheers

Dan

{Ed006's Note - We can all hope, I dont think now though.}

13 Aug 2012 19:52:37
Hi eds!! There seems 2 be alot of reports sugesting we have no more money 2 invest until we sell now if this is true then why would we use t'he last of our cash on allen we have more cover there than up top if we lose suarez or gerarrd 2 injury we are in big trouble its going 2 be hard enough 2 break in 2 that top 4 as it is we just do not have enough quality in numbers up top! I would be very suprissed if this was the case but has it stands we do not seem close 2 sighning any attacking players we kick off in 5 days time and like i say 1 or 2 injurys and were bang in trouble!

{Ed006's Note - You don't have to worry. Forwards signings will be made.}

Ed-BUT WHEN,will forward signings be made?

{Ed006's Note - If Andy goes then soon after.}

13 Aug 2012 19:52:28
daniel aggers says he mant to stay but its out of his hands he also told reporters the the tattoo on his knuckles is for the love of liverpool the fans and the city also said he cant see himself playing for another epl club ... hope your listening mr henry

If I were in Agger's position and knew we didn't have a lot to spend then I'd be happy to go providing the money come in was substantial enough to allow us to significantly bolster the squad. Loving the club doesn't just mean playing for them, he may be doing more good by going than he will staying

But your not agger are you, person

And if he wants to stay, we should let him stay, a player with as much talent as agger, we should keep him, hence why he wants to stay

Agger is class - we should not be selling these players to our opposition.

But if rodgers said he doesnt want to sell his best players and agger is no doubt one of them then why dont he tell the owners he wants to keep him. so who decides who we sell now is it the owners or rodgers im confused . also loyalty for footballers nowdays is rare to see they see the money bags and jump ship ,agger is loyal and a great player wat more do u want

No, if you love the club you want to stay and see them become champions of the league and europe. you don't leave somewhere you love (in reply to first reply)

What a stupid thing to say,he could b doing good by club by leaving so we can raise cash for other players,its fsg who should b backing rodgers by giving him money to spend,not putting rodgers in the no win situation by selling agger to raise cash for new signings,putting him off on the wrong footing with the fans,if he sells agger,fsg passing buck here wont back manager,make him sell agger,sack him then if bad season and then probably sell club,losing as little cash as possible

Makes me sick aggers is class wants to stay and we are trying to push out the door if we need money than sell Carroll , Henderson , spearing , adam , downing etc
Still remember agger smashing Torres pure class

He doesn't want to go, rodgers doesn't want him to go, we don't want him to go. he's liverpool through and through. he is our best centre half since hansen. why is leaving even an option?

kev from skem

13 Aug 2012 19:52:14
Ed do you expect anymore arrivals before are first game on Saturday? Liam

{Ed006's Note - Maybe Sahin, maybe no one.}

When these forwardS Ed 6,clocks ticking!

Should get 1 or 2 in place

When these forwardS Ed 6,clocks ticking!

13 Aug 2012 19:34:05
Dempsey and Walcott will sign, there is no more than serious interest for Ramirez which has been the case since Rodgers took over( no bid). Sahin will also be the year long loan signing which has been mentioned. Both Agger and Skrtel will not be leaving. Carroll will be allowed to leave if a bid of close too 20 million is offered he will not be allowed out on loan. If Carroll is sold a cheaper back up striker will be signed however I have no clue who this is.

NewPoster

Thats cleared that up then

If we do get dempsey and walcott am gonna support Queen of the South for a season. they at least give 100% all of the time, even if they are s***e

Doubt Walcott will sign as much as I want him too, he won't..also we are still heavily linked with Ramirez and according to twitter and other reliable sources bologna have agreed a 18 million deal with Liverpool...if we can get Dempsey and Ramirez we can definitely challenge the top four

{Ed006's Note - Twitter, and other reliable sources...}

IL'd believe this post

Haha good one and other reliable sources

No interest in Ramirez, because Rodgers hasn't made a bid. Well by your own rationale that would mean Rodgers also has no interest in Walcott because he hasn't made a bid? For someone so sure of what's going to happen you contradict your own claims.

MarkB.

I thought Sahin had had all but signed for the Arse on a year long loan.

That'd be nice if all that plus AC stayed.

Ramirez signs this afternoon, Liverpool keeping this very hush hush as Spurs sniffing around for weeks mate.. TRUST.

Carroll doesn't appear to be going anywhere. Despite the club accepting offers they have been quashed by Carroll saying no. Doesn't seem to matter what the club do if the player doesn't want to leave.

13 Aug 2012 19:28:53
Hi Ed, of Agger was to leave ( I really hope not!) Is there anyone else were looking at to replace him instead of Fernando Amorebieta and Diego Godin? Thanks for your time mate

Dano

{Ed006's Note - I really dont know mate sorry. I am sat here with my fingers and toes crossed that Agger doesnt go. I know he wants to stay and he says he will reject any move to the Champions. Lets just see what happens.}

Godin is not a good defender trust me i have a season ticket for the calderon.Coates looks a better option but id prefer miranda

I no it doesnt mean much,but didnt Mcateer say hes had (agger) YNWA or something done on his knuckles? Seems a bit odd tho

13 Aug 2012 19:21:47
Sahin to join Arsenal before the end of the week on a loan with option to buy.
vrcomp
Y.N.W.A.

And you know this how? Your sources are? Come on give us all a clue!

The Plank

Heard same,skates on time LFC

Sahin prefers arsenal anyway

13 Aug 2012 18:23:46
Though Sahin wants to play UCL football, it seems like Mourinho has suggested him to join BR, & Alonso has suggested him to join Liverpool.

It would prove to be a sensational signing if we land this player.

ON Tello, we have got some convincing to do with the kid.

Armando

Would be happy with sahin (although as mentioned before, don't know how our rotation with CMs will go). not really fond of tello. based on the few games that i've watched him feature in, he only has one game to him. streak down the left and pass to the slot. doesn't seem a good fit to BRs passing system either.

I want this to be true

U dont know anything.

Then let him touch on we only want players who want to be here wouldnt waste my breath

Arbeloa probably warned him about Carra. I remember the two of them almost coming to blows when Arbeloa made a mistake which didn't even result in a goal

Had another premonition armando ?

"Arbeloa probably warned him about Carra. I remember the two of them almost coming to blows when Arbeloa made a mistake which didn't even result in a goal."

Lmao, and im also guessing that Sahin is a Midfielder and is not going to be involved in any serious defending as he is mostly known for his playmaking and attacking skills. Also worth noting that Carragher is not there in the line up hence no arguments from any one....

13 Aug 2012 17:49:52
Talksport reporting Liverpool interested in Benfica midfielder Nolito on loan? Apparently has a £39 million buy out clause.....................Is it a possibility,and is he any good? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool at this time but Real Betis has approached Benfica about taking Nolito on loan. I am wondering if this is simply a recycled story from some time ago when Liverpool enquired after the kid when at Barcelona.}

13 Aug 2012 17:43:55
Hi eds,
Is Walcott close to signing? If so what will happen to downing?

yNwA06legend {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any plans for Downing. As for Walcott, there is interest from Liverpool as Macca has said, and the rumoured interest from Inter is, somewhat surprisingly, correct.}

Walcott on his way to Inter Milan.

Downing will be used as a squad player, all his qualities merit really.

Downing left,Walcott right,il'd imagine

13 Aug 2012 17:07:41
Hi eds, any chance of Llorente? Said he isn't renewing his contract. {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Juventus, Spurs, PSG and Manchester City with rumours of interest from Arsena as well. There is a very good chance that he will move this summer and talks are continuing with Barcelona.}

Llorente 's in talks with both Barca and Juve? {Ed002's Note - Should have said Juve.}

13 Aug 2012 16:54:36
Hi Eds and others,
If Agger were to go, is there a possibility of Ogbonna as a replacement (no idea if he's even been considered)? Or is he still looking likely to stay in Italy? Seems like a decent prospect and still relatively young. {Ed002's Note - Roma, AC Milan or Juve if Torino sell Ogbonna, which they don't want to.}

Sorry to hear that, Ed002, but thanks for the info!

13 Aug 2012 16:04:50
Hi Ed002,

Do you think AC Milan would be interested in Agger? I am sure they were interested last season, and with Thiago Silva leaving, they must be in the market for a CB.

Thanks

Jatt YNWA {Ed002's Note - Possibly. It is like Deja Vu.}

De ja vu has just signed a new contract or did already do that? Feels like it.....

Why would we be interested in what AC Milan want. If Agger wont go to M city I am sure he wont go to AC Milan.

So Dan Agger is actually Denzel Washington?

TSP

13 Aug 2012 14:46:46
Bilbao comfirm that Llorente will not sign a new contract with them, where is he going? {Ed002's Note - They are in talks with Juventus right now.}

Should have taken the 20m for Carroll and used it in a bid for Llorente. Not sure he would come or if Carroll would have left, though.

Not to liverpool anyway

13 Aug 2012 14:38:38
Seems Fulham may drop their asking price for Dempsey to 8mil. I wonder if that will be enough for Liverpool to decide to sign him.

Geoff

Surely that would be satisfactory to all

13 Aug 2012 13:37:49
Walcott has fallen out with Arsene and is wanting a quick fix move. LFC to step in with a £16 million bid....

This would explain why Theo was seen earlier today heading into Melwood.

Doesn't he have 1 year left on his contract, so 16 mill for and out of favor player with only a year left smells like absolute horse sh*t to me.
I would like Walcott though just not at 16 mill.
Andrew

What did they fall out over? I bet it was Theo's turn to empty the dishwasher and forgot to do it.

Why are we still going for over rated and over priced English "talents"? Look what happened to Carroll, Henderson and Downing. Try selling them now and see how much you can fetch. - DAP red

Is there any photographic proof of theo walking into melwood

Why is everyone wantin theo at anfield?? Come on!! this is poor! You dont buy a player from a rival who is sitting on bench or playing rubbish. He is not good enough ppl!!

Hmmm reminds me of the situation with Joe Cole 2 years ago, at least then we got him on a free! Theo's after a bigger pay packet he's the poor man of the England dressing room. If I was his agent I'd tell him to sit tight until January when he can sign a pre-contract agreement. At this point a lot of teams would be interested but not now at anything over 8Million he's to much of a gamble! Ged

Walcott wants to go to Liverpool because he supports them

11 goals and 12 assists last season. Kind of things we were missing last season from attacking midfield. Would be a better option than downing at the moment.

Yes he is kind of player who drives you crazy but think he would be a good buy at the right price.

Gut feeling he will sign a new contract at the Gunners and our interest is just a bargining chip for his agent.

Aces_up1504

DAP Red - why would you even think of selling any of the 3 you mentioned - 2 of them had the worst season they have ever had, and would be impossible to be that bad again - and Henderson never really got a chance to play in the position he was bought for.

John B

By your theory Henry would never have made it out of Italy to the Prem and on to become one of the greatest strikers in the World. I'm not say Walcott could do this, only that players play differently under different Managers and in different teams. Who can say whether Walcott would be a success or not until he's tried and tested. It's up to Rodgers to mould him and train him into the player he wants. Until then we have absolutely no idea how he'll fit into the team. He has some good points to his game and some bad, most players do but he's still young. Worth a gamble at the right price.

I think some Liverpool fans are being a bit harsh on Theo yes i can confirm he is a Liverpool fan but if you look at is assists and goals last season he scored more than any wide player we had what does people think to this as a staring team Reina Johnston Agger Skertel Enrique Allen Lucas Gerrard Walcott Saurez Borini Subs Kelly Henderson Carroll Downing Carra Sterling Jones

Yes he scored and assisted more than any liverpool player last season! WHY? because we have NO wide players. Kuyt was never a wide player, downing is s*** and never gets wide to cross the ball unless the full bk slips and falls. Glen johnson would be a better option. Play him at right wing, kelly at RB and sign Godin Or mexes. JB

John B - What I meant was, English Players are overpriced. If we ever tried to sell any of our English players, they would not fetch the price that we bought them for, especially the 3 that I listed out. I agree that they might have a better season this year, but for the amount of money spent on them (35mil+20mil+20mil) you'd expect to get better quality signings like Suarez (NOT english, obviously) for that sort of money. DAP red

Jb that as been said before about Johnson playing right side and Kelly behind but i think Theo would also give us that extra pace going forward if you look at all the top teams in the league we have the slowest forward line Spurs Lennon and Bales Utd Valencia and Nani I hear some players say that Downing is quick but i am yet to see it let not be to quick to judge tho remember Lucas?

I hear Spurs would like to do a deal with Liverpool over R Sterling and A Lennon would make more sense as Arsenal want 20m for Theo u heard it first Bc

Not a bad team bazza just would like to see Suso on the bench also and if not Theo then Gaston Ramairez

I'd personally pick him an drive him to melwood, don't no y most people on his back? Ok some bad passes and choices, but scores goals an makes goals, where would we have finished if u exchange his stats for last season with any of our wide players? Higher than we did finish, so of we get him and we pay whatever then I will welcome and support him.

Cant see that price for Walcott.
At the £7-8mil marker, he would be a good investment.

I wouldn't want us to sign walcott for 16m, sure money of 16m could be better spent.
i think we need at least one winger, but preferably 2, however then our midfield will get a bit full, as we still have cole and speaing

Why do people come on here saying what we should and shouldn't do when they don't even know our own players names? It's Johnson for h**k sake. Also how can you confirm he's a Liverpool fan? Is it because Wikipedia has confirmed that to you?

7-8 Mil for Theo come on neva we are dealing with Arsenal remember and after paying 20mil for Downing Theo would go for 14-16 mil if he was to come even tho he into his last year of is contract there would be to many takers could even go higher Chelsea Spurs Juve Inter and us and may be City because they want a wide player bazza

How do you know he is not a liverpool fan stupid still got the biggest fan base all over the world and if you look back at is player profile team supported as a kid you will see not everything a lie on here bazza

During the transfer to Arsenal he admitted he was a LFC fan. £8M, then maybe. He has 1 year left. Let's do to others what they would do to us in this situation.

Ahh fair enough, apologies I didn't realise he had admitted he was a Liverpool supporter! My bad.

Your all daft as why would they turn down 26 mil from Chelsea to then accept 8 or 12 or 16 from a team with no CL football.

Theo said he liked Liverpool not supported them either, Theo is staying at Arsenal and is just pushing buttons to increase his wages. {Ed002's Note - There was no £26M bid from Chelsea.}

"Your all daft as why would they turn down 26 mil from Chelsea to then accept 8 or 12 or 16 from a team with no CL football.

Theo said he liked Liverpool not supported them either, Theo is staying at Arsenal and is just pushing buttons to increase his wages. {Ed002's Note - There was no £26M bid from Chelsea.}"

And may i supplement on that note Ed002, By that logic, West Ham did offer us 36M for Andy Carroll if i am not mistaken paying it over his contract for 8 yrs i presume??. Simple, its because Carroll didnt want the move!!. Now what If Walcott doesnt fancy Chelsea because he knows its going to be hard to compete against Hazard, Mata and Marin for spots yet at LFC he is defo going to play as the Right Sided Forward with Suarez being Left Sided Forward to cut in and shoot, and Borini as our CF??. However as other people have said, maybe his agent trying to get arsenal to give him a payrise. If he joins us, im sure he will be a hit. We have never had real pace in the squad(Babel doesnt count) since Mark Gonzalez left us. That guy was lightning. With Walcott's pace, all the likes of Allen, Gerrard and co have to do is release the ball at d right time and Walcotts pace does the rest, BUT Brendan must not utilize Walcott as a line hugging winger, but as a right forward playing abit in the centre. That is when we will see his true potential, i guarantee it!!...

Hope not at that price.

To the bloke who said about a possible swap deal with Lennon and Sterling......Are you MAD....Sterling is twice the player now than Lennon is. He will be Lennon x 10 when he is older.

Sooty

If they gave US £16m to take Walcott,it mite be worth considering.Otherwise let's spend our money wisely on a proper talented footballer.

Morning eds and fellow reds...

Please can eds002 answer this question for me

I've just read on tribalfootball that Xabi alonso has rejected A new contract from Madrid, and that he says he's ready for a new move. Could this mean that Liverpool may bid for him? {Ed002's Note - I cannot see him moving this summer. Real Madrid is clearing out the extra padding in midfield and is adding Modric. I expect Alonso to stay.}

If we signed Alonsa back i would persnally find Rogers and thank him with a hug

- Ibnan

Deffo wont come back, were a selling club these days

Hes staying for one more year. then probably move to juventus.

He will not move this summer even though he has declined the contract extension offer from Madrid. Next summer you can expect AC Milan to be VERY interested. If not Milan then perhaps a move back to the Basque region of Spain looks the most likely second option.

He's said countless times that he misses Liverpool, and would like to return one day. Plus he wouldn't be too expensive next summer, being 31 and having only 12 months left on his contract.

How are we a selling club? do tell? From what I have seen we have only sold Aqualani, bellamy, Kuyt and Maxi this summer. All of them were getting old except Aqua. None of them were are star players. I did love Bellamy though. Even if we do sell Agger, he is going to go for more than we brought Suarez in for. If we reinvest Agger money into another Suarez I think everybody will be more than happy
Andrew

One of the first team coaches at Madrid has told me not too long ago that Alonso would like to come back in a couple of years in a player/coach role, he'd really like to try winning a champs league with Madrid first though.

It,s Nagore who is looking for the move she has never settled and feels she had more career oppurtunities in Liverpool

I think its Sahin and Adam Johnson we are signing this week with Agger going the other way (Man city) & Dempsey may be in the deadline day. EDs what say about this? {Ed052's Note - possible}

We will sign Johnson and Wallcott and then Dempsy but Goalkeepings are needed first cos Peppy Raina isnt very good no more

- Ibnan

That is a joke right Ibnan? Reina isn't very good any more?! Jesus, we need a goalkeeper if Jones and Doni leave but otherwise Reina is still amazing, and he's someone you want in the dressing room. He's still got years in him at the top level.

Pom

I don't know, past couple seasons Pepe hasn't been the as good as he was a couple years ago. I hope he has found his form but the Pepe of last season was not the Reina of 07. He was making mistakes and not making saves he used to make.
Andrew

Repeating what everyone has said and known for weeks

Not makin saves he used to make? did you not see the point blank save from Lukaku... Agger wont leave, just had YNWA tatooed on his knuckles

Eds, word is on twitter and blogs on lfc website that an £18m bid for Ramirez has been accepted. Any truth in this? {Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation regarding Ramirez at some great length.}

His Agent been observed at Liverpool today. But this can also means a transfer towards Man City. Lets just hope that he`ll be on his way to Liverpool. Apparantly the transfer fee has been agreed. Other clubs have also got their bids accepted. Its now up to Ramirez himself.

We're trying to sign him, that hasn't changed, and I believe his agent will be on Merseyside tomorrow to deliver the outcome of several weeks of talks. His agent is advising him against Liverpool but everything should become clear very soon.

Ramirez shouldnt be bought we need strikings and defendings and goalkeepings to replace Peppy Raina

- Ibnan

If we sign ramierz along with added boroni and allen and other confirmed targets dempsey surin and wallcott - are we not going to be top heavy or are we going to play with less defenders?

We know you have discussed the Ramirez situation extensively! But when news like this breaks what we are asking is, if there is anything new!

Thanks

Billybibcat YNWA

"strikings and defendings and goalkeepings" ---- Is this FoneJacker?!?!

AndyB

We must buy gaston ramirez now he is quality and we should sign tello on loan also

Ibnan youre an absolute bufoon, pepe Reina went to the euros with spain who have the best goalkeeper in the world, Reina beat out competition from valdez and others... he is far from past it...

Billybibcat - well said! The Eds need to realise that things change and all fans are asking is if there has been anything new. {Ed002's Note - The Eds realise that things change and there are constant updates. The issue is those who are simply too lazy to look for them or to try using the search function.}

The rumour is from GiveMeFootball, which is a load of s***e. Lfc website bloggers seem to be a load of losers living in dreamland, each competing to boast the length of time that they've been supporting LFC for. None have even mentioned Sahin, Walcott or Johnson, they're so desperate to convince themselves that we're in for a player quoted at 40m Euro. Not very reliable either...

Please tell me this news is not from Koptalk. Arenr they the only one convinced we're signing Ramirez

Ed if we sell carroll and get around 18-20m do you think it is then possible that we will follow up our interest in ramirez or gaitan as we will be in need of another attacker and will have more money available? {Ed002's Note - I suspect Dempsey will arrive to replace Carroll.}

Ed i think we were buying dempsey before selling carroll anyway? {Ed002's Note - I would not think sequencing is the issue.}

I agree, buying Dempsey and keeping Carroll is the best option. i even think on top of that a LWB, RW & ST is needed. then perhaps another CB. Two if agger goes! Jb

I cant believe were selling a 23yr old and bringin in a 30 yr old to replace him, so much for FSG's youth policy and future sell on value.... Its not carrolls fault he was bought for 35m, we sell him he going to come back and haunt us.. England international for years to come, should definitely keep him was unplayable at end of last season when he finally looked fit..

Sometimes you need a bit of experience mate? Remember the impact Gary Mac had? All last season we continually panicked in front of goal, we were like a runaway train?

Why are you bothered about his re-sale value if he's only going to cost around £8m?

Also, consider this... If we can only re-coup £18 -£20m on Carrol now, imagine what his value would be after a season of bench warming and losing confidence through blatantly not being adaptable to BR's style of play?

Stop moaning about Carrol and get behind the manager and the owners.

Eddie

I don't see you getting £20m or even 17m for Carroll most pundits and journos saying his current value around the £12m mark at most.Out of interest would you rather he warmed the bench losing value all season or go now for £12m? and use it to get another striker in.

Pardew, is that you?

We won't be selling him back to you lot for £12M, so give up with all this talk of taking a huge hit and accepting your pitiful £12M.

How can you guys say that Carroll is worth 18-20 mill when you think he is so crap that you want to sell him asap? Noone wants to buy Carroll for that amount which means he ain't worth that much. Either you keep him and try to help the guy, he is just 23, or you sell him for what he is worth 12-15 mill max!

over the last few days, the local press (i live near swansea) has linked williams and sinclair to follow allen out the door. williams linked with us and sinclair (going into final year of contract) with us and city. the feeling seems to be that sinclair could leave for under 10m, while williams signed a new contract last yr and swansea would look for similar money to allen. lets get this straight tho, swansea are NOT looking to move them on and are hoping to discuss new contract with sinclair over next few days

Filling the squad with over rated averge players will improve nothing, why do we continue to purchase middle tier players

Thank god for the last bit..

Ed002 following Macca's post, have you heard any whisperings of Nuri Sahin joining? {Ed002's Note - There is clearly interest from Liverpool. Sahin has been angling for a move to AC Milan who are being cautious in the market or a return to Germany with Bayern Munich but there is no interest from them. A move to Besiktas has been rejected although Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey. There is confirmed interest from Spurs, Inter, Liverpool, MIlan and Arsenal although it looks like Manchester United has dropped the interest they had. I understand that Miguel Pardeza would prefer to see a sale at an unrealistic price (As quoted to AC Milan) rather than a loan which others at Real MAdrid would prefer. As Spurs still have Modric, AC Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool seem to be the three options.}

Is this true

13 Aug 2012 01:42:22
Hi eds and reds,
I was just wondering if you knew anything about Juan Manuel Iturbe, the young Porto winger? He's been dubbed the new Messi (I know there's a lot of them but still) can play anywhere in the front line and is only 19 years of age. Has there been any interest from us or indeed other teams? {Ed002's Note - None from Liverpool. His move to Porto included a number of rumours that it was a stop gap for a move to Old Trafford.}

I hear utd have first option on him

12 Aug 2012 23:26:09
Ed is it correct that the club expect city to come back with an offer of cash plus Johnson on loan?

I can't understand why we would let our transfer be decreased in value with a loan player if that's the case. I'd want him permanently (if I wanted him at all) not a season loan. Seems like we'd be getting the sharp end of the stick.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - Macca has explained what he understands of the matter. My understanding remains Agger will leave. That is where we are.}

I hope we can keep agger he's top quality an it would leave us very short at the back and i to would like to c adam singing full term an not on loan

No 1 trying to be top 6 should be loaning players, its embarassing

Ed002 thinks all our best players will leave. humph

Agger is going nowhere

13 Aug 2012 06:56:46
Daily mirror reporting that Fulham are to make a 3 million bid for Ngog, could this suggest that Clint Dempsey is close to a move to Liverpool?

Wouldnt trust that paper at all. Fulham sold johnson to QPR and lost that russian striker to Reading so im sure they need a striker no matter what happens to dempsey! i would be love to get dempsey if in involves them taking adam of our hands so fingers crossed that this move happens! ga

Fulham have already signed Rodallega.

So that means they cant sign anyone else?
tommy.

A chance Agger could head to Real Madrid with Raul Albiol moving to Anfield. Obviously cash on top for us as well.

PieInTheSkyMan

Would be surprised considering Albiol just signed a new contract and was glowing about how happy he was at the club.

Geoff

Albiol has just agreed a new 3 or 4 year deal with madrid...Jamie

Think he just signed a new deal with them last month!

He signed new contract friday with real

Players dont leave rm for lfc

While were at it we shoould sign KaKa and Ronaldo and Casilas and Romas and Som other players who we wont be able to cos this rumour is rubbish

- Ibnan

Why us want raul albiol? he couldnt even place on 1st eleven..

13 Aug 2012 00:27:55
Ignore Ramirez rumours, expect Sahin, Tello, De Vries and Dempsey to be the rest of our signings. Maybe movement with Afellay. Johnson and Amorebieta to sign IF Agger is sold. Walcott to sign IF Carroll is sold. So 4 more to come, if Carroll and Agger stay, possibly up to 6 if they leave.
Irishdom15

Why would sahin move from real madrid to liverpool. From the CL to Europa?

Ha! {Ed049's Note - for regular playing time.}

All sounds probable but one thing missing, No Striker!! We need another striker. Dempsey scored goals for Fulham yes but im not so sure he will have a goal return at anfield as such. Pressure on Borini. Carroll may not play, Alot of reliance on Suarez. One more striker. Maybe Weliton of Moscow. jamie

Not every player chasing CL wishes to sit on the bench. I dont think Sahin would mind playing in the Europa League if it gets him game time, and people will see his talent once again.

Kaizer

Brendan Rodgers has said maybe 1 or 2 more signings so don't expect too much unless agger or carroll go

There will be lots more buyings red fans do not worry, Goalkeepings Defendings Midfeldings and Strikings will all be bought we will rule again and King Kenny knows this

- Ibnan

Ibnan you are an absolute person just shut up, you know nothing about football (goalkeepings, defendings, midfieldings and strikings, point proved), whats this got to do with kenny anyway?

Owen signs for EFC expect announcement later today! Too funny!!

DavrosRed

I would "£$% myself if he went and and played for wooden's an theyre tin pot shed.It is funny..

red blancmonge

Nothing to do with us anyway

WARNINGS

Toffees have more strikers that we do, I'm a Worried RED
Carroll out on the last day then were Blooming short of options

First Michael was a boyhood EFC fans so no surprise there and second he did fantastic when he was at LFC but Rafa sold him against his will. So before you t***s start slagging off Owen remember that he really is a proper LFC legend in regardless of where he played afterwards. The 'REAL' Liverpool fans have nothing but good feelings towards Michael and all he did for us.

Haha, is that last post from Michael Owen himself? He's got to be the only one deluded enough to believe that tosh. Owen is a prime example of the mercenary footballer. He's in the same bag as Adebayor.

MarkB.

Was out today and bumped in to David fairclough and he told me the deal for Walcott is at an advanced stage should be next week. And as I'm posting this hearing loads saying we have agreed a fee for Ramirez.

Are you hearing loads of voices in your head?

Did he say " Very much so " ?

12 Aug 2012 19:56:59
There is also a good chance Adam will go and Demspey will come in..

Look maybe City will not come with a new offer but i believe the owners think that if they sell Carroll for 18 mil then they can offset the loss with the profit from Agger..

Again things can change but i believe it will be a good transfer window for us..

Also i have no news on Aggers replacement (if it happens)..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - confirmed as the real Macca

Agger to stay!rodwell to be converted to cb in a 3 4 3,hopefully

So the sale of Agger is not for footballing reasons but to recoup a loss on Carroll? That's the first bad news I've heard about FSG's business policies at Liverpool.

We will be making a loss for some time at this club will they be selling a key player every year so they can offset losses?

Would like to see Dempsey in and Sahin looks decent too but Agger should not be sold unless there is a viable replacement
avoorochie

13 Aug 2012 01:40:21
Do you feel the transfer (Agger) would be beneficial for Liverpool Macca?

Nevada

13 Aug 2012 01:40:39
Thanks Macca, any news on the loan target? Is it still progressing? Thanks

13 Aug 2012 01:43:46
not real sure I follow the 'offset the loss with the profit from Agger' bit as that seems a bit of a stretch or perhaps it's just a polite way of saying that owners want to make a few sales to bring in some revenue and Agger has the unfortunate distinction of being the guy that is worth something at the moment.

In any event, for me personally, I'd be more than happy if the last deal we did was just Adam + relatively small amount of cash for Dempsey and instead just kept Agger rather than trying to do all the rest and bring in more players like Johnson/Tello/Walcott/etc.

13 Aug 2012 02:09:31
thanks Macca

Kaizer

They should not weaken the team by taking away Agger because they f***ED up on Carroll. Have they never heard the saying "two wrongs don't make a right".

All they got to do is sell Carroll for £18m get Walcott in for £15m and used £3m to get Sahin in on loan. that way there would be an improvement in the squad without weakening our defense.

Walcott is worth around £23m anyway so we'd save £8m on him.

Carroll was never worth 35m so the £17m we'd lose on him was lost the moment we signed that contract. if Agger is sold then its shows pure ignorance. you would think that as businessmen they would think outside the box and look long term with Agger and without Agger and you'd find that he is more important than balancing out the tip scale.

and btw I have supported FSG since day one and everyday after that until right now. however if they invest every single penny that we make from sales and then some, then they would be forgiven (but only if the right caliber of players are sought out and acquired).

and if Agger is sold then it has to be Moolah and forget Johnson he is a ADHD version of Downing.

Sorry but high 20s for an ageing injury prone defender has to be accepted. We could reinvest that into the team. We will never know if Kelly is ready unless we give him the chance, he is our young carragher.
Andrew

Offset the loss on Carroll? Well, that's surprising. As an above poster said, the club will be running on a loss for sometime and they should know this. And the owners' idea of cost cutting is selling key members of the squad?

AG

Didn't we use torres transfer money to buy Caroll. If we made loss then it is on Hendo, downing and adam.

Surely the loss on Carroll has already been offset by the £50m we received for Torres? {Ed002's Note -

13 Aug 2012 08:40:24
Cheers for the update Macca. Not sure I like the owners thoughts on trying to sell Agger only to gain some of the money lost on Carroll if he is sold.

Rumba

13 Aug 2012 08:40:58
Macca, do you feel liverpool will benefit the most from this transfer?

Will the owners not worry that while short term they will recoup money lost on Carroll it may cost us a champions league place and therefore cost us more money?

Nevada

13 Aug 2012 08:41:21
Thanks Macca really appreciate it

Cheers, Zincho

13 Aug 2012 08:47:02
Macca, posted ages ago that we could be switching Adam for Dempsey! Now it's all over the newspapers for tomorrow.

He seems to get the info at least a week before everyone else.

13 Aug 2012 08:47:54
Macca, is the deal with Sahin to buy or is it a loan deal? If the Eds are able to answer on his behalf then that is also good for me. Thanks.

13 Aug 2012 08:49:20
AC to leave? BR was full of praise for him after the Leverkusen match. Besides, AC arrival is due to Torres departure. We got a 15mil profit there, I'm not very convinced that the deal is considered a loss.

Some may argue that 15mil was used in the signing of Suarez but Ryan Babel went to Germany for a 6mil deal, so FSG just forked out about 1mil, at most 2 mil, in that particular transfer window. The actual loss came from the deal for SD and CA, maybe not so much about JH. {Ed002's Note - People are making way too much of the profit/loss situation regarding the transfer of Torres and CArroll - it was dealt with in the accounts of the year before last. Anything to do with CArroll and Agger moving this year is an entirely separate matter and will be dealt with in this coming year's accounts.}

13 Aug 2012 08:53:17
Great job Macca and thank you!

As we could be signing Sahin as well, can you shed some light on where he will play exactly in the team? We have Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson and Shelvey already for the midfield. Adam can be sold while Spearing is a back up for Lucas. So where does Sahin fit in?

Also, are we in for any striker?

Cheers,
Ashish (fan from India)

13 Aug 2012 08:55:59
Thanks Macca!

IMO Sahin is world class (at least when he is match fit and in form) and Theo is great and still has potential, to improve. Other clubs have noticed, what we have all known for a long time. Daniel Agger is spectacular! Big loss if he leaves, but we can manage.

The whole Andy Carroll saga, is a bit sad though. When you throw that kind of money after a player, you gotta show him faith or at least give him a chance to prove himself. Even though he doesn't fit your ideas of the ideal forward. I believe Andy can offer another side, if BR's philosophy, does not work. Like a plan B, though an expensive one, I know.

Sigetty-DK

Maybe the owners havent noticed, but the way to offset loss is to win. If we establish ourselves as an attractive team for future transfers then teams wont be able to hold us hostage over the fee.. see Madrid for example they usually hold the ace hand because the player is desperate to join them. Imagine if we werent in this position where we have to buy players at 150% their value..we could certainly be in a better financial position. Bottom line is Andy & Danny are key to us winning games and shouldnt be sold out of fear that we might be held accountable for our books being out of order, and instead should be worried about us fans holding them accountable if the devestating transfers from previous owners are repeated. I for one love the reds but am not into self defeating policies and selling these two might cause me to lose all faith in this lot. Fortunately Brenny has his head on right and will surely object which is a hopeful sign. Azkop

13 Aug 2012 08:43:55
if improvement is obvious then i am happy personaly
as it stands with Macca giveing us solid targets i think improvement would be obvious even if all for mentioned players linked to leave do indeed leave.
competition for places will be fearce..

i wont ask which ones but who do the eds or even Macca believe wil of completed a move before the new season starts also does the system rafa installed in the youth/reserve setups conflict in any way with how BR wants to move forward in your opinion of course.
ta
Nath.

13 Aug 2012 09:12:11
I do not believe the owners ( or BR ) will let AC go for that price.
I also believe that if the backroom medical staff think they have solved Aggers injury problems then he will not leave.

I don't get why people are so desperate for Agger to stay. He plays only half the games across the season due to being injury prone. £18 million+ is a good financial move for us.
For those that don't understand accounting aspects if we sold carrol for 18million the loss in our books would likely be 6.5 million if liverpool amortise on the straight line basis. I really don't think that's too bad if we can get in another decent centre back such as kjaer.

Selling Agger won't cover the Carroll loss as we'd have to buy a replacement for Agger, unless City give us close to £30M and we miraculously find a left footed ball playing centre half for £10M. If that player really exists, why don't City simply buy him?
