Scott Sinclair on loan until end of the season. {Ed002's Note - No.}

You can't play for three teams in the same season.

12 Dec 2012 21:57:18
two players in - sturridge and walcott are 1st choices. if we dont get one of these two, then ince or a loan signing (jeffren or sanchez) will be sought. with two in, two will be offloaded, if possible. most likely cole and downing although downing mat be kept for back up left back duty. all being well, front three will look like sturridge suarez walcott. looks strong.
assaidi borini sterling back ups.

lfc77

Although i clicked believable what about dempesy

Please... Walcott and Sturridge?? Are these the best players we can hope to buy? No faith in either and what have either really done in the game! Arsenal and Chelsea bench warmers.

Smokescreen.

Brad

Strong with Sturridge? you having a laugh mate!

And Sterling gets relegated to the bench to become "back up"? Two words, and they rhyme with bike and duck.

That's not strong! Sturridge and walcott are bench warmers if that's what we call top signings then I'm shocked! There english so over priced and basicly arnt that good,

Eds ,is the Jefferen you refer to ,J. Suarez of Portugal {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Hasnt Jeffren got a massive buy out clause? He signed in 2011 for 5 years did he not? {Ed002's Note - It would only be a loan initially.}

12 Dec 2012 20:04:48
hi eds who are Liverpool definite targets for January thanks

keating 77 {Ed002's Note - Certainly Sturridge and there is interest in Ince, and a loan for Jeffren.}

Hi eds would Chelsea let go of Sturridge without signing a replacement?

Cheers
Mighty reds {Ed019's Note - Doubt it}

Ed002, is huntelaar not a definate target? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function. There was interest in Huntelaar as I explained - but the chances of him arrivinging were always slim.}

What about Hughes from derby?

Although I don't think sturidge is a world better he is a far more complete footballer than Carroll he has more than one string to his bow and will improve a current squad get behind the manager and the team

Alright Eds, a quick question for you:

If Huntelaar does move to Arsenal this January, can he still play in the Champions' League?

If your answer is NO, then let's be sure he is going nowhere.

And even if it's YES, he'll be a fool to move to a club in disarray like Arsenal. Everyone saw how desperate they are now, with even their best & honest player diving awfully. Not to mention the humiliation by Swansea at home, and yesterday's shocker vs Bradford despite fielding a strong side.

So I think you'll agree Huntelaar will stay at Schalke for now. So leaving him aside, are we really going to make a move for Llorente/Bony/Soldado as our marquee signing?

Gogol {Ed002's Note - No he can't. What "marquee" signing?}

12 Dec 2012 20:08:00
I don't think any Liverpool fan should look at Arsenal and shout "club in dissarray" - we've been through much worse in the last 4/5 years and we don't have a massive shiny stadium to show for it. Nor do we have players coming to the end of their contracts that are attracting the sort of fees theirs have. If I were a neutral player I'd have a hard time choosing the club and managerial stability, more frequent CL football and the location might be the factors that swung me.

Stupidest post ever...

Well Ed, you know what I'm trying to say... like we signed Suarez in Jan 11. A top notch player, guaranteed to make a difference. I know that may take top dollar, but c'mon who wouldn't want a Llorente or Huntelaar! Big wages yes, but we are offloading few as well?

Why do some people want us to sign a large tent? Haven't we already put in and then withdrawn planning permission for a marquee?

Therefore it's off the menu and those who want one need to get used to the idea.

12 Dec 2012 18:41:11
well eds ny rumour about cavani read that he wanted to talk to us nd arsenal so wats the story jd27 {Ed002's Note - It is all nonsense. Cavani will not be moving to Liverpool in January.}

12 Dec 2012 18:40:26
A quick question regarding jeffrèn. Why would Lisbon let him go out on loan? He's only been there a year, he's also been injured for the last two months and not expected back till the end of January. How do you rate the player? I've never seen him play before.

Thanks
Lee the red {Ed002's Note - Jeffren has been training and is available for selection. They would prefer to sell Jeffren now and despite rejecting loan moves in the summer he has now fallen out of favour in Lisbon following some poor performances meaning a loan might be now feasible in January. However, given (a) he is not playing well, (b) Barcelona retain and option on him, and (c) he has a ridiculously high release clause in his contract, it would be near impossible to sell him on the Iberian peninsula and it may be tough to sell him elsewhere right now. Sporting are aware of this and also know that his value will reflect how he performs the rest of the season - and it may be necessary for him to go on loan. No doubt Barcelona will be consulted about the option, but I would doubt they would wish to take it up.}

Quick question Ed. What do you believe is the reason behind the management wanting to take Jeffren on loan if he's having such a torrid time? Surely it's not the most sensible option? Or is it simply because we haven't many options open to us?

Cheers in advance,

100% Cotton {Ed019's Note - He already knows the system}

12 Dec 2012 17:46:06
are there any chances of liverpool signing balotelli in january i think hed work well with suarez {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

I hope we don't go anywhere near the person he is more trouble than its worth and thinks he his gods gift.

BigD

I would really like a player that thinks he's gods gift, it's usually only bad players that don't think they are...

Mario's an Enigma, he could be a phenom if it all came together.... just not sure anyone could ever make it happen.

My god can you imagine. I think Gerrard or Carra would lay him too rest within 5 matches with his attitude...and rightly so!
I would be horrified

Gareth

Please don't hold your breath, we may need to call an ambulance.

Mourinho gave up on him; Mancini gave up on him. If BR can make him shine, then BR might be the greatest manager in Europe.

hie eds, any truth in rumours linking us with tom ince? also do u think michu , diame are possible signings???
mary-joe wanna {Ed002's Note - Yes, no, no.}

Whats ur take? are we in unconfirmed negotiations? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what that means. There was interest shown in Ince by Manchester United and Liverpool as far back as October and this was explained.}

Michu would fit in nicley but not diame

Please let michu come in 10-15 mill would b a great buy !

Just Heard Charlie Austin from Burnely coming in.

LFC MTY

Rather him than sturrige

Defo, he scores goals, and that is all we need to make lots of progress in the league, the rest of the team / squad are adequate for now

He scores goals in the championship so does mackail smith but i dont think there will be much interest in him although ricky lambert is doing ok in the premier league austins a bit of a risk tho only ever performed in lower leagues plus weight of expectation joining a big club like liverpool then if he dont score in his first 5 you will have liverpool fans saying what a waste of money who bought him sack rodgers get rid of fsg lol

"Just Heard Charlie Austin from Burnely coming in."

I've got a noisy neighbour like him too. Always slams the front door shut, whether he's leaving or returning.

The step up to Liverpool and the premier league at the same time will help - all pressure at once - he will just have to work hard but good signing.

He is useless - scoring this year and did at swindon, but Swindon let him go because of his behaviour... he was out every night and rumours of liking harder things.

Murray is tearing up the championship and my sorry ass played with him in the states for the Wilmington Hammerheads, so that means I might have torn up the championships? Who knows maybe I shouldn't have hung the boots up! But on a serious note how Murray is bagging the goals in the championship I don't know, he was sorry when we played together IMO!

Hey ed002! Hope you're in good spirit with christmas looming! Just a quick question, I've seen some reports that we're about to bid for Butland because apparantly Reina is leaving for Arsenal! Any truth in that? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I am in reasonable spirits thanks. I don't know if there are any plans for Reina to move to Arsenal in January and if he were to Butland strikes me as an unlikely and risky replacement. We will have to see where this runs.}

Good to hear mate! I'm of the same opinion! Butland is a big talent, but I'm not sure if he is ready being the number one keeper already! I find it quite annoying all this talk of Reina going to Arsenal aswell, I tought he was happy at the club! Scouserseb

I also heard the same rumour about Butland off a few ppl now. Including Lee Clark himself saying LFC hav had brief conversation with Birmingham. I'm from north east and my bro drinks with him
PT77

Why would Arsenal want Reina when they've got sczecny

I have watched butland for birmingham they have been live on sky a few times this season he looks like he has good potential but for me he is at least 3 years away from being able to even challenge reina for a first team spot also birmingham have put a 10 million price tag on his head so forget about this happening anytime soon,mark

Eds fellow reds , I can't understand why we are supposed to be link with cb from Villareal . If money is that tight then don't spend £7 million on a cb when that would buy you a striker {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of this "link" - which centre back is it supposed to be?}

12 Dec 2012 14:43:12
ed is it true man u are looking at walcott or just paper talk thanks {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any confirmation of interest but Manchester United still seek a wide player and Walcott may fith teh bill. I rather doubt he would fit the bill for a central role at Old Trafford - which is the position he wants to play.}

Must agree with ed002, if walcott wants to play as a striker then he will not go to united.

united are looking for a wide player as they missed out on lucas mourra in the summer and walcott would be an obvious choice given he does all the hard work and puts things on the plate for RVP.

Gd Afternoon Eds. Quick question for Ed 002- seeing you have quite a good knowledge of French Football, Do you know of who Liverpool have Scouted this season? i know when Kenny and Comoli had control of transfers some players were scouted. do they keep scout reports and present them to the new manager or does the manager just have his own ideas on signing - just curious and very much appreciated if you could help- have a good day
Regards
concon {Ed002's Note - I would think that the speculation about Liverpool having scouts watch Bafetimbi Gomis scored was correct. Lyon are seeking to raise some funds. Clubs will keep records of reports about players who have been watrched but it will not be the responsibility of teh manager to co-ordinate these. It is however perfectly plausible to assume that a player who previously interested the club may still interest the club - even though a manager has changed.}

Ed002-As you have a decent amount of knowledge on the French league what are your personal opinions on Gomis, I for one have not seen much of him except from a game quite a few years back for the French national team in the build up to Euro 2008 {Ed002's Note - He is a decent player who would probably be suited to a club seeking more of an old fashioned centre forward. If he moved to a club like Liverpool I suspect the style of play would need to change for him to fit in. And whilst Lyon are seeking to raise some funds and whilst I suspect that Liverpool did indeed have the player watched, I really don't see a move before the summer as likely.}

Ed002, is it possible we were scouting lisandro lopez? {Ed002's Note - It is perfectly possible as I suggested at the time.}

12 Dec 2012 13:41:07
eds reds just wondering about rumours weve been scouting at villereal? also ed02 it seems from some answers from you to posters you still think sturridge is still strong but also the interest in jeffren is still strong? anything new , maybe honda or , as you told me weeks ago , you own choice huntaller? cheers eds godblees96 steviep62. {Ed002's Note - I was asked about who I thought would be the best option and I said Huntelaar - not if I thought him viable. There is certainly interest in Sturridge and certainly interest in taking Jeffren opn loan. There is nothing else of particular note I can think of at this time. I know nothing of interest in players from Vilalreal at this time.}

12 Dec 2012 14:04:14
The budget is set at 15 million most of which will go on Sturridge.

We will bid for Ince if we can offload Downing but the feeling is we will be outbid.

Cole will also go if he lowers his wage demands......Jeffren to replace him on loan.

Regards

Clee Red

Personally I would rather buy Gomis at a discounted rate and still have some money for Ince than buy Sturridge. Personally I dont see Sturridge as a player that works with BR style. However, I cant really say that I am overly familiar with Gomis' style since I dont watch much ligue 1

Don't want Sturridge or Ince

Y did we got rid of ince? {Ed019's Note - He wanted first team football & wages}

12 Dec 2012 13:25:30
With Seville's president admitting the club needs to sell players in the transfer window, do you think we'll be looking to Alvaro Negredo (forgive spelling).

He's benched a lot for Seville and might be able to help us up front at a decent price.

To be honest, i've not seen a lot of him since he was linked with us ages ago, so he might be rightfully a bench player, but he did look good for while. Who's interested in Negredo, Ed's?

Cheers. {Ed001's Note - we have not shown any recent interest in him, I would be surprised as he is not really suited to our style of play.}

12 Dec 2012 12:28:08
ed there have been 4 recent rumours discusiing a potential signing from cash strapped villareal, have u heard anything n doesnt rossi play for em

cheers

wafa {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in their players right now.}

Mateo musacchio is the player

12 Dec 2012 11:39:49
Have any clubs shown interest in dani pacheco?
He is definetly out in jan.
-md

How is he "definitely out" when you don't even know if any teams are intersted?
Tom

He probly do well in league 2 maybe league1, sadly not championship standard

I think Dani has indicated on Twitter that he expects to be leaving.
CR

12 Dec 2012 17:17:41
I think he's " definitely out " because he couldn't even make the bench against west ham when we were forced to play jonjo upfront. GM

He has had more than enough opportunities ! hasnt produced the goods

He's got talent but from what I hear, lacks the right attitude. What about QPR or Stoke?

12 Dec 2012 11:11:22
Flores of Villarreal is being looked at.

Regards

Torres Suarez and flores some one got a sence of humour at the club

12 Dec 2012 11:23:27
So many rumours at the moment.

Would the Ed's agree that the most likely signings will be Sturridge & Ince ? {Ed002's Note - Most likely is always difficult to answer. Certainly there is interest in both, but there is also interest from elsewhere in Ince. As I have previously said, interest remains in taking Jeffren on loan.}

I'd be happy with two signings from :

Sturridge, Walcott, Jeffren (loan)

Would love players like Cavani & Sanchez, but we have to be realistic.

All the best players want CL football which we can't offer at the moment.

CL football is not out of the question if we can get the right players in.We are not far off being a CL team.
CR

Are sporting open to a loan move for Jeffren ed? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has made an enquiry about taking Jeffren Suarez on loan in January. During the summer window Liverpool, Sevilla and Napoli all showed an interest in a loan for Jeffren after his first season at Sporting Lisbon was impacted by injury. Despite rejecting loan moves in the summer he has now fallen out of favour in Lisbon following some poor performances meaning a loan might be now feasible in January. However, given (a) he is not playing well, (b) Barcelona retain and option on him, and (c) he has a ridiculously high release clause in his contract, it would be near impossible to sell him on the Iberian peninsula and it may be tough to sell him elsewhere right now.}

12 Dec 2012 11:22:35
Hi fellow Reds, Manu has joined the race to sign walcott so it wil be difficult for us. And also huntelaar has stated that he wanna join Arsenal. So our target wil be hopefully Wilfried Bony(he's been scouted by Liverpool) and also sturridge. Thr is a loan interest for alexis sanchez which could be possible. And v r 100% interested in butland too, but many r in the race.

Sanchez's agent said he is happy at Barca, learning from the best: Messi.

12 Dec 2012 10:44:35
Morning eds do you think tom ince is comming back I've tried the search buh couldn't find any thing cheers

Redan {Ed002's Note - There has been interest shown in him by a couple of clubs - one of which is Liverpool.}

12 Dec 2012 10:15:33
Hi eds, is it true that we are taking a real good look at Wilfred bony. The man is a power house and knows where the net is. What do you think? {Ed001's Note - he has been scouted, but that doesn't mean we will move for him, just that we have had a look at him.}

12 Dec 2012 08:53:58
Ed's is it true Villa agreed to join Liverpool on loan before he broke his leg?
Rob {Ed002's Note - No.}

12 Dec 2012 07:56:18
Ince, Sanchez and a left back are also on the radar, but there's still a long way to go in regards to those deals. We are hopeful though. A centre back is possible with Coates going out on loan, but it all depends on how much money we have left. Henderson has played his way into the managers plans which means we won't be signing a central midfielder until the summer when we will replace Sahin who will not be signing on a permanent basis.

97

I assume he won't be signing permanently because he has earned it due to poor form? I agree he has been bad so far but give him time to settle in, Borini's injury is actually good news as it gives him a lot of time to settle into his home etc. IMO of course

Ben

12 Dec 2012 01:37:55
Eds, I read earlier that ed001 has stated Liverpool interest in isco is there. I'm just wondering, how strong is our interest? I hear he has a 17 million release clause and although only 20, he has a lot to offer. Also, can you see us going for his signature in Jan? Or would you think summer or not at all is more likely? He can play CAM/CM and IMO quite well on the wing (an area we need to strengthen more I'd say). Thanks a load eds!

YNWA!
JS {Ed002's Note - Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus and Spurs have shown an interest in Isco and he came close to a move to Dortmund, who may still follow up the matter. I suspect AC Milan might look to the player as well. There were rumours of interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal. Malaga want 21M euros but will likely accept 15M euros if they are forced to sell. I would suspect Juventus and Manchester City are best placed right now. A move in January is by no means certain.}

I recognise that we may not be in the strongest position in terms of being able to offer champions league football etc and clubs like Juventus may be more attractive to players with options of plenty of top European clubs, but to hear players of his class, at only 20 years old with potential to be one of the finest in his position in the world could be available for as little as 15m euros just frustrates me. Especially so when were interested in someone like sturridge for around the same amount (who I personally feel would do a decent job for us btw). I realise they play in different positions but I would see iscos signing at 15m euros as an absolute steal for a player of his class for whoever got him. How come we seem so focused on scouting within Britain Ed's? Whereas practically every other club seem to mainly focus their attention abroad when scouting and bringing players in?
J {Ed002's Note - There is no focus on scouting only in the UK but you must remember that, however good a player is, it does not mean the club see any player as suitable to fit with the system used. Also many players have no interest in playing in England. Liverpool has extensive scouting operations and as we know was looking to South America in the spring and summer. Additionally new staff have been added to run scouting operations.}

12 Dec 2012 00:26:07
Hi eds and reds, just read on the telegraph website (a normally reliable site) that walcott is of interest to manchester united. This, to me makes little sense as apparently negotiations broke down due to his desire to play in a more central role, a position that manchester united have 4/5 players for. Have any of you heard anything? {Ed001's Note - not a thing, sorry.}

I totally agree with the post, Walcott to Man U makes no sense at all. had a few replies on twitter from United fans saying they cant see it either, Theo wants to play more and in preferred position, all of which he has more chance of at Arsenal than United, if he were to join them it can only be for the money and not for football reasons in my opinion, a realistic Move for Theo would be teams like LFCSpursNewcastleEverton or abroad where he will play more and in preferred position
