French U21 fullback, Loris Nery could be on a season loan to Liverpool.Also talks of an attacking player but no names mentioned as yet

Can't you see this is total BS? first, we don't need a right back, second, what would it help getting one on loan? Just think before you post.
Fox

Well firstly the poster has got it wrong in the loan deal to us but is right about the interest we have for the player. It is that we would sign him on a long term deal and then loan him back to France for a season. Do not be so blind sighted, Nery can play anywhere in the back four. Such aggressive comments is something that annoys me about this page.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is preparing a bid for Uruguayan international David Godin with what will almost certainly be his last signing of the transfer window.

It's Diego not David. But nice try

It really is amazing the way people come on here with this crap like it's 100 % fact and they don't even get the names right

David Godin is part of the Ken Aguero Memorial Fantasy XI

Expect Cahill to sign within the next 10 days as Aqua and the rest of the crew will be sold or paid off. Raul will stay as KK will use him as a squad player and doesn't have an issue with him.
The last signing will be Park Chu Young when the others have gone, including Ngog.
This will happen guys, believe in me as I have been given this info by a pundit friend of my father.
Redsource

I have heard that rio ferdinand is interested in a move to liverpool now that jones has gone to man utd..hev can't take the competition.

Total rubbish and wastes everyone's time
Fox

If you take the thing 90% of people on here are saying, then add a LONG two week timescale then claim to be in the know, it totally lacks credibility. If it comes true, many here is going to claim "i was the guy who told you" credit. I can just as easily say that. In fact, my special source tells me we will 100% sign one more person and sell at least one person this transfer window. Trust me, my source is a mate of my father's that KK and DC tell so they can breach their confidence on a website.

Why would a pundit friend of your father be privy to Liverpool's closely guarded transfer secrets? And why would they tell a pundit who then blabs, then your father who blabs, then you...who blabs to thousands of readers? Not a trustworthy bone in the entire chain. Lucky it is a guess then.

Lay off the lad it could be true. My 3year old daughter said to me tonight 'Daddy I want a poo'. When I thought about it later I'm now convinced she said 'Daddy, Ngog to Bolton as part of the Cahil deal'. Obviously she didn't reveal her source.

I believe you redsource. everybody hears a rumour from somewhere, hence why they are called 'rumours'. im totally addicted to this site but thing that grates on me is that if someone posts a RUMOUR without naming a source then they have no credability and get slated, but when they do name a source and sign their post, they still get slated. lets no turn this into bitching site like so many others, just rumours and a bit of banter :)
back to the rumour, cahill ngog and 12m is seemingly gathering pace and if our 'backup' striker is sold, then he must be replaced. park cy would be a great addition in my opinion, great touch, workrate and eye for goal. if he has half the good attitude and professionalism that chung-yu and ji-sung show, then he would complement our squad very well.

Liverpool will bid for Gary Cahill or Diego Godin. Both will cost £15m plus David N'Gog for the Cahill deal.

Christian Poulsen, Emiliano Insua, Nabil El Zhar, Philipp Degen and Alberto Aquilani are all still available for transfer.

Aquilani, Krygiakos and Joe Cole won't be involved tomorrow either.

Donnypool

How do you know may i ask?

How do you know how much they cost? I thought no one knew until the two parties agreed fees... Speculation in my opinion, sorry...
I do think we will get Cahill. Another striker will depend on players sold and could also be affected by the number of players we may have to pay off. Either way, King Kenny and Holy Comolli have done good so far..

Myk

I have good sources at the club..

The fee is the expected fee. Players will be definately be offloaded to make way for one of these signing. I believe El Zhar and Degen will be paid off. El Zhar is like £1m and Degen about £1.5m. The club believes a buyer COULD be found for Poulsen. Aquilani may still leave and Insua will also be sold for around £3m.

Donnypool

Kyrgiakos only signed a contract after the 2010/11 season finished so I doubt he'd be leaving. :/

Lmao, Aquilani not being involved??. A player who was the standout midfielder in the pre-season??. Aquilani has by far a greater chance of getting involved in the game than Meireles, yes he might not start but he will play. Lucas is by default a regular, but Aquilani and Hendo for me will start with Adam replacing Hendo and Aquilani taking up Hendo's attacking place(gerrards role).

David Ngog and 12mill. for Gary Cahill

Whoever put this looks pretty legit right now with what espn are saying 4 hours later...

12 Aug 2011 19:52:00
Is it feasible that the centre half that could well end up plying his trade here it's christopher samba? The reason I'm asking is this,
Dann could well be on his way to arsenal?
Cahill I hear could be part of a player plus cash deal with spurs?
Dawson won't even consider joining us
Shawcross I'm sure would be advised to steer
clear of us
Samba? Big, strong powerful and a leader?? {Ed009's Note - Blackburn do not want to lose there second first choice centre back after Phil Jones went to United.}

Dawson? no thanks
shawcross? no thanks

Dawson won't consider joining us? He'd better wait till he's asked I can't recall the slightest hint that the Reds have shown any interest in him and I wouldn't want him anyway. {Ed001's Note - Dawson is a childhood Liverpool fan anyway, but simply not good enough to join us.}

12 Aug 2011 19:35:46
@GuillemBalague: No offer made by Liverpool to Madrid for Higuaín

And in other news, the world is round.

This being the same Guillem Balague who said that a deal has already been done between Arsenal and Barcelona for fabregas.

But it is only a rumour......it could still be flat.

12 Aug 2011 19:23:32
Ed i saw that in the chelsea rumours page you sais that ac milan are looking to sell pato, some reliable itk have said previously we have watched since jan
If we sold all the deadwood possible then do you think we could try and sign him(i know it is unlikely)?
Also how much do you think he would cost? {Ed009's Note - It is very unlikely and I am afraid all talk of a big name striker signing is more than a little farfetched.}

Barbara Beluconi is the main shear Holder of A C Milan. and Alex pato is Barbaras bf so its a dream Pato leaving Milan now. after 2 years its may happen.

Haha are these ppl 4 real

12 Aug 2011 17:12:40
Is there any truth in the Higuain deal, my brothers currently in Madrid and says that he has been dropped for Benzema and all the papers are reporting we bid as well as Roma. Do you know whether theres any chances as you've been spot on all summer so far great site keep it up {Ed009's Note - Several of the Argentinean media are reporting that we made a bid of 25 million euros, but I have heard nothing from anybody I trust enough to believe it is true. I can't see it happening I am afraid.}

Can't see why we'd bit £25 million for a back up striker??
Can't see us having a £35 or £23 million bench warmer for him coming in.
(obviously Carroll & Suarez, I'm talking about, incase people didn't know what I meant lol)

Its not about the price its about the player. Even if Carroll cost £35M doesn't mean we have to play him. IF (and thats a big IF) we get Higuain surely the players playing best would start? I also think if we did get him he would not be a back up striker.

Thanks, James.

I cant see see it.but when people say back up striker=why?surely should be no guaranteed place.like old days

What if one of the strikers get injured. Carroll has been struggling all year and there is always a chance someone will try to break Suarez leg to stop him. 4-3-3

Maybe as macca said in janurary, king may want another world class striker so that he can make other team keep guessing and also rotate them by giving some rest to suarez and carroll

Of course cost matters, we're not City, haven't got an endless pot of money.

Well if we spend £25 million on a striker, I don't see him as back up obviously, that's my point.
Who ever he picks, one of them £35, £23 & £25 millon players will not be playing every match day. Can't see that as good busness, and I can't see it happening. Using that money elsewhere would benefit the team more.
We've been linked with players in or around 6-8-12 million, which makes more sence.
If we sign a striker for £20-£25 million I'll be shocked, and come back on here and appoligise to you mate, haha

I doubt we have bid, but price is irrelevant to starting games.

Berbatov was ousted by Hernandez, who was 23m cheaper.

Top clubs have expensive players on the bench, we won't become a force in the Prem and Europe with an attitude of this is our expensive first 11 and these are our much cheaper obvious subs.

Maybe if we were playing in europe as well I might think there was a better chance of this, but with just the league, can't see it, make europe next year and then we can afford to have £20+ million sitting on the bench

Ppl need to get in the real world

Basically some people are scared of the availability of a better striker that may put extra pressure of Carroll who is not capable of handling it. I think even PCY will give a Carroll a good run for his money.

12 Aug 2011 17:09:08
I no there's not much chance this season but would love to see us go all out to sign eden hazard in jan or next summer think he is class imagine him a suarez in the same team Any chance commoli will get his way an get kk to go for him?
Skurks {Ed009's Note - Certainly not this year.}

We're not signing any £20 million rated player that is already playing for a team in the CL.
Because if he was avalible there would be 10 other teams ahead of us in the pecking order offering CL football. And if he's that good (which he is) loads of teams would be in for him

I agree. You also have Sterling coming though and in about a years’ time I think he will be fighting for a start. Imagine this attacking force in the future;

------------ Carroll ------------
Sterling – Suarez – Hazard

How do you know there would be so many teams ahead of us? Where just as big a club as anyone else in europe i think the only teams he could pick over us is barca or real madrid but if we get cl qualification this season who knows?
Skurks

If were flying in jan,ndhazards mob aint,who knows

We couldn't sign Young, Jones or Clichy, because they picked City and United ahead of us, I'm sure one reason being they're playing CL football.

But yet a wonderkid playing in France will choose us to come to???? lol

And of course I don't know for a fact loads of teams would be in for him, but it's obvious if a top player is up for sale there'e loads of interest, thats just common sense that'll will happen.

And all you need is Barca and Real ahead of you in the pecking order for a player,(never mind the other top clubs offering CL football as well)

10 out of 10 players will pick one of them every time (At this moment in time).
We've missed out on 2 or 3 other targets that went to smaller spanish and Italian clubs, but they'll be playing CL football.

Its just how it go's, I don't make the rules, maybe if we get CL football, next season we might have a chance of signing him.
If we sign any of these players I'll come back on here and admit I was wrong, but I don't think I will have to to be honest, haha
Cheers

"How would there be 10 other teams ahead of us in the pecking order"????
I've just said, all the others can offer CL football, something we can't, does that explain it for you???

Well hazard considered joining psg is that a so called big team? I'm just stating we have as good as chance as anyone if we get cl spot. Know one knows we'll just have to see in the future
Skurks

Young, clichy, an jones picked the wage packet not the champions league games

Young and Jones chose United for a better chance at long term success, and they will prove this by ending their careers with much more silverware to their names than the likes of Downing and Henderson. Get over it

12 Aug 2011 15:51:22
Liverpool do not know about the media reports that they are after Scott Dann of Birmingham. Liverpool haven't made an approach for him.

www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2011/08/12/liverpool-fc-not-in-for-birmingham-city-defender-scott-dann-100252-29223511/

Just shows how much people really know on this site lol

Is there an echo in here?

Yeah we know. No one has bid all transfer window for him. Ha Didn't need a paper to confirm that lol
Liverpool also haven't bid for messi, where's that news headline, haha
Sorry for being a bit of a smart arse by the way lol

A news paper report to confirm that something hasn't happened? There's interest, but think everyone knows there hasn't been a bid

Does show how mad people are on this site, if we show a bit of interest the forum floods with "HE'LL BE SIGNED WITHIN THR NEXT "24 HOURS" lol

To the poster assuming him self as "smart backside", I think you should take the smart bit out, for the past few weeks web sites and on here people (who suppose to be in the know) been posting about us being in for Dann, and the echo simply rejecting these claims and I happen to agree with them... there are no headlines about us "not bidding" for Messi because there were no headlines about us being in for him.
sorry to burst your ego.
Roy

No I agree with with you Roy, and obvously it was a bit of tounge and cheek in my comment, but the majority of us know this, but why would you bother?
If people think there has been a bid for Dann, they're a bit mad, why waste you energy with them mate. I've read the same posts, I just laugh lol
But maybe it will prove to the few deluded head cases, ha
If you'd of said you posted it to show the head cases, I prob wouldn't of thought you where one as well :-) lol

Dunno siyu.but we really need centre halfand cant wait till quaeter season gone

Get a sence of humour mate He has a point.
How dare anyone that stats the obvious be questioned. Which is all you've done, state the obvious.
Maybe explain why you posted it, would have looked different

Have to agree, just because it was published in the media doesn't justify it being a post. If I'm not mistaken it was the same paper that also told us we were going to sign him. So they drum up the story then state the obvious, lol
So there previous stories where #$£%

12 Aug 2011 14:35:42
alright ed is there still a bid on the table for vargas or has this been withdrawn as thought he is left sided player and we just purchased two soon be sep 1st and you can take it easy a bit good work

cheers kopman {Ed009's Note - This was very early in the window and it was rejected. It was at the point when we were testing the waters for several left sided players.}

An chance of you using any punctuation in your posts? It took me several times to read that and understand it

This is old news. We've signed two left sided players since, we won't be signing him

12 Aug 2011 14:21:38
Ed, if ngog departs do you think we will pursue Park Chu Young? I think the boy is a real talent,would he be exspensive? {Ed009's Note - There is a chance. He would probably cost in the region of 8 million.}

Even if we haven't signed a center back would we still go Park Chu Young if N'gog was sold, or would the center back be a priority?

His playmaking ability and shirt sales alone would make him a great buy at 8m, let's get this deal done

If we could only sign one of either a CF or CB, I'd go for the CB, think we're a bit lighter in that department. Unless Agger comes back better and fitter than ever, we could get to Jan and see how we're going then. With Skertel and 300 as cover it's not to bad, Martin Kelly as well can play there(Future CB for sure when he gets a few more seasons under his belt)
Irish Red

Well said to me mate.do need another striker.especially if ngog leaves.3 aint enough

Hi Ed(s)
Glad there appears to be firm interest in Ayala and the Babel impersonator
You must be sick of the same old chesnuts but - one last time.
What is the very latest info you have on the possible exits/interest/chances of leaving, on the following:

Degan
El Zhar
Poulson
Mierles
Aquaman
Cole

Great job lads

The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed009's Note - They are all available to one degree or another. Kenny would like to keep Meireles, provided he can lower his wage demands. Joe Cole is in a situation similar in that he will likely stay at the club. Poulsen is available to anybody that wants him but he has deterred interest by declaring he wants to partner Adam in the centre of Liverpool's midfield (translation: sit on his huge wages.) I can still see Aquilani leaving, with interest coming from Milan, Fiorentina and Juventus. El Zhar and Degen are of no interest to anyone who could afford them; a settlement deal may be required.}

Eds not trying to insult your judgement at all about aquaman but if you read wht he has been saying lately you will see ATM he is like 70% chance of staying A's e said he hasn't been followin Italian press static he is gunna leave and said he would happily stay at anfield this season to prove he wasn't a flop/deadwood and is actually cut out for playing for us he also said he is at a great club and wouldn't mind staying here so all these posts saying he said he wants to defo leave is a lie ... {Ed009's Note - There is a chance he will stay, but it will only be because no Italian teams are willing to cough up for him.}

When I read posts like this one from Ed it makes me realise the por standard of player that was brought into the club. But why were they given such high wages? I can maybe understand Cole being given high wages as he came with a big reputation but the others...head scratching stuff

Regarding meireles how much is he on? and you have to remember that half he's wages are taxed off. {Ed009's Note - I believe it is around £60,000, but that figure is off the top of my head. I know it is more than £50,000.}

Poulsen=jokeqo lad,your crapgreedy git.cole can go aswell.have some self respect

12 Aug 2011 14:11:50
hi eds on Twitter, @LiverpoolTalk are saying they believe liverpool have made a bid for Vargas of fiorentina. Any truth behind this?

thanks

GibbzeeLad {Ed009's Note - They made a bid early in the window, interestingly enough as Ed001 highlighted about half an hour ago...}

12 Aug 2011 13:51:53
liverpool will sign cahill with ngog and amoo and eccleston goin the other way this will happen next wednesday mark my words those 3 are long gone

This sounds an awful deal amoo and eccleston and bright prospects and i am sure we would be keeping these.
Manno {Ed009's Note - Both players are perhaps moving on anyway. Certainly Amoo is stagnating at the club right now.}

Surely we need to see more of amoo,eccleston.but we urgently need centre half.ive got feeling with cat and mouse with,arsenal over dann/cahill.arsenal may try and snatch both

With Arsenal on the verge of selling Captain Fab and Nasri, the chances of us landing Dann/Cahill Will be slim at best, yes we could contend if we clear the ranks to free up some of the wage budget, but if we are not quick, we could miss out.

12 Aug 2011 13:28:58
hi eds,
is Bent an option if Liverpool goes for a striker option? {Ed009's Note - Too expensive and Villa would be loathe to let him go.}

I had the same thoughts last couple of weeks dont know why just a feeling good call in my opinion gets goals wherever he goes good alternative

Villa won't sell all there players this transfer window, especially there best ones.

A headless chicken is the last type of player we need, unless we can rely on the kop to get beach balls on the pitch lol

12 Aug 2011 12:50:05
Eds please tell me if there is a chance of us signing a star player like Hazard, Mata, Lavezzi, ect... the type that will surprise everyone
Do you think something might happen on transfer deadline day?

Mark {Ed009's Note - I don't think so. If N'Gog goes to Bolton - which is a distinct possibility - we may well bring in a replacement striker, but I can not see it being someone so expensive as Lavezzi.}

Ngog poor,however we do need cover.must get a striker,if he goes

12 Aug 2011 12:32:05
eds which centre back would you think is most viable option for us, thats an obvious position we will be looking to fill next but who would you strike a guess at? jw91 {Ed009's Note - Cahill, Dann or perhaps even Mertesacker are the targeted players at this moment, but they are also subject to interest from Arsenal. It is important that you read the posts and use the search tool.}

Ed - how many times a day do you have to suggest "use the search tool?" {Ed009's Note - less times than we could and less times than we want to.}

Why the hold up for centre half?when so very obviously need one

12 Aug 2011 12:52:11
Ngog will probably not being going to bolton now with the purchase of tuncay, bad news

Pove

They wanted 2 strikers

The bid for Ngog was made after Bolton had signed Tuncay.

Souness

They lost elmander and sturridge went back to Chelsea since last season. Bolton are looking for two strikers to replace the

Tuncay aint an out and out forward

12 Aug 2011 12:37:59
Hi Ed,

Do you think there is any truth in the rumour that we will bid £13m for Vargas?

Thanks,

VR46 {Ed001's Note - yes, we did make a bid for Vargas, not sure how much though.}

He is a left sided player, why would we get him with Downing & Enrique now. Did we make a bid before securing Enrique?

Prelen

Ed is this a recent bid? {Ed001's Note - it was a few weeks ago now.}

When was the bid put in ED1?

*Pob* {Ed001's Note - early in the window when we were testing the waters of left sided players.}

Ed,did we bid for him recently and how much did we bid?
Cheers
Danny in Galway {Ed001's Note - I have absolutely no idea how much the bid was for sorry.}

Hi Ed001

Was that bid for Vargas only put in in the last few days or was it a few weeks ago..and wot do you think the chances are of him coming..its just i cant see the point in another left sided player unless we use downing on the right..and at a reported £13m..the money could be spent to strengthen other areas..or we r not as short of money as the press lead us to believe

atlfc70 {Ed001's Note - it was a while back and as far as I am aware we immediately moved on to look at other players. I don't expect him to join.}

Ed001: could you please elaborate a bit, I take it we are talking about a bid made a while back and not the last couple of days? or have I missed this completely? {Ed001's Note - while back, not a recent bid.}

Why would we when we've just signed Enrique, two similar players on the left? {Ed009's Note - The bid was made long before Enrique was sewn up.}

Do you think this was a bid to buy him to play him as a winger or LB?

Thanks for the info mate,

maka {Ed001's Note - I don't know to be honest, probably to cover both if anything.}

12 Aug 2011 12:37:28
What's all this about an offer rejected for Higuain?

its been in the spanish press, and mentioned on Eurosport

would be a great signing if we can get him

12 Aug 2011 11:42:21
Looks like Ayala may be on his way to Norwich for 800,000. Good news if so as that's one off the wage bill. Hopefully the n'gog rumours are true as well.

It still concerns me that there doesn't seem to be any movement on the likes of degan, el zhar, poulson etc. (Unless anyone can shed any light?)

Martin

I hope this sheds some light:

some players will literally die to be on the pitch and be involved in the first team, even if they are not the best player in that position. If you watched Jay Spearings performance against Arsenal at the Emirates, you'll know what I mean.

some players, on the other hand, realise they are not good enough, but would rather get paid ludicrous sums of money without ever actually playing than to get paid considerably less money but actually play matches.

this is the case for a lot of players at LFC - no one would pay money for Poulsen, Degen, El Zhar let alone their wages, and the players know this, but would rather leech tens of thousands per week off our beloved club than leave - either through fear of no one wanting them, or the priority of love of money over love of football.

hopefully something can be done so that the money can be re-invested into players who are actually worth having on the payroll

Sanchez 33

Yeah all 3 are rubbish no one wants them and they won't drop the wage demands to get a lower divison club interested.

It concerns me too, but in all honesty would you sign Degen, El Zhar or Poulson? They are ony likely to appeal to teams at a lower level or in less competitive leagues. Such teams are unlikely to match anywhere near the wages they are getting for warming the bench for us.

As I have said previously many times we are stuck with the deadwood possibly for many years, we will get no transfer funds from them

The post above explains the problem

What is the Solution?

The solution? Take the hit. Negotiate a settlement to buy their contracts out and release them.

The fans should club together and buy them ourselves so we could share them for things like doing our shopping, or just standing still as garden gnomes.

Degen is considering taking a role up as a doorman, Poulsen us considering taking one up as a doormat and El Zhar is off to be an ice cream man. Thats what i've heard anyway, they'd suit those careers too.

JP

Hello Eds, Do you think that when Arsenal get knocked out of Champions League it would be worth making a bid for Van Persie to play on RW. He surely would be willing to jump ship given their depleted squad coupled with a CL exit and bad position in PL. While we were at it and based on them being exited from CL what about a bid for Wilshere as a long-term replacement for SG, big money offer with Arsenal's immenent decline should be enough to get him. {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is any chance of either happening at all. Somewhere between zippo and nada out of ten.}

Christ what is this guy smoking

Somewhere between zippo and nada out of ten.

This has got me rolling on the floor and laughing my socks off.....between zippo and nada...

Speaking scientifically there is no
F*c%i~g chance of these deals getting anywhere near zippo or nada

Cool, we have our own fortuneteller that can predict what will happen to Arsenal.

Can you please give me the lottery numbers for next week if it's not to much of a bother.

Try to show arsenal a little respect. they are the only top English club that has shown us respect over the years....wouldn't hurt to reciprocate. arsenal may end up better off after this transfer window so don't count them out. My only hope is that LFC steals a champs league spot from Chelsea...payback is a bitch, Nando

Between zippo and nada ay? So... Your telling us there's still a chance.?

Myk

Agree with ed.however remember under h and g,everyone circles a sinking ship.why not have go at arsenal?you never know.something seems wrong there

Right, and when Suarez was being tossed around beginning of January window, all u negative minded fans were saying "not gonna happen". There is a slim chance of Wilshere next season, but alot will depend on where Arsenal finish and where Liverpool do. I have this feeling that winning the premier league and a pick of FA or Carling will be enough to tempt him. Surely you people dont understand that we are desperate for an EPL trophy but Arsenal are desperate for ANYTHING. It is this trophy drought which led the likes of Henry to move to Barca in the past, it is what is led Clichy to move(although i think he was lying, for him and Nasri, main reason will be money), and i also think that aside from Barca being his dreamhood club, it is one of the telling reasons Fab wants to leave. Does that mean that Wilshere has right to remain at a club which cant even make it into the final of CL, when we Liverpool made it 2 times into the finals with only Reina, Carra, Xabi and G8 our recognized best players??. Dont you think he has more chance of winning something at a club which has atleast won something in the past 5-6 years than remain at a club(Arsenal) where he works week in and week out just for the team to collapse towards the end as we saw last season in Arsenal's title charge??.
When we mount a "serious" title challenge we stick our guns out all the way and if Man Utd or any other team beat us, we still hang on for 2nd, Wilshere's current team leaped from 2nd to 4th within a space of just 2-3 weeks. That tells Wilshere alot about the future of Arsenal...Long story short, i think it may be worth the punt, but with other clubs bound to be interested, i dont think it is out of the question as the eds say, but its "slim" to put it right...

Listen mate you're deluded. you can start putting arsenal down when you actually finish above them. they had a "disappointing" season last year but still finished clear ahead of l'pool and got further in other competitions. and just remind me, how many times have L'pool battled it out for a 2nd place finish in the EPL in recent years? And even Fab, who has been desperate to rejoin Barca since forever has stayed at Arsenal for several years. Wishire is at least as loyal as Fab and would not have his head turned by the likes of L'pool in a very long time. Maybe Man Utd, Chelsea, Barca or Real but I doubt even that. Im sorry to break the news to you pal

Does everyone have the same view especially the ed's that if ngog ends up at bolton fairly soon then a striker will definately be targeted ? {Ed002's Note - Possibly - but are you are writing off the youngsters then? I hear a lot of good about Adam Morgan but I know he is perhaps a little too young - is there anyone else who could step up? Will Pacheco stay?}

Adam Morgan is quality and so is Pacheco they can both easily step up. Dirk Kuyt is 3rd choice striker as well are you forgetting him. 3 strikers is enough when you are playing 4-2-3-1

Donnypool

As a 4th or 5th choice striker what about Adorjan, Ngoo or Morgan as you mention? There's also 2-3 attackers in the U18s that might push their case with good performances... I think, considering there is no uropean football this year, it could prove a shrewd gamble to not buy a striker but instead develop one of our own...

Richards

Id prefer pacheco than ngog any day

Hope, he(pacheco) is staying. Quality, can do a great job for us.

United have 5 or Six Strikers likewise Chelsea

God knows how many citeh have but you can bet its a lot more than 3

I've watched Adam Morgan quite a bit on LFCTV and Eurosport. He reminds me a bit of a young Fowler. He shoots on sight just about every time the ball comes to him inside 35 yards. Still looks a long way of the first team squad however and with the 25 player matchday squads he looks unlikely to get any vital 'bench' experience this season. Stupid rule as it will hinder the development of young talent.
The Ronoc

I personally think Ngoo will be given an opportunity this year He's a way with under 20s at moment,But I can see him playing early carling cup ties.

In reply to the Ronoc what rule do you speak of will the eds correct me if im wrong but the likes of morgan dont have to be named in a 25 man squad as they are u18 and homegrown. I think he is a talent but can he make the step up some league cup action would be good for him this ear i think
DCG {Ed009's Note - Any player under 21 does not have to be named in the squad.}

Youngsters aint ready

Hi eds. Was wondering what are the chances of Ngog being sold to Bolton? Also if he does go, would Liverpool need to be looking to bring another striking option as back up, because even though how bad Ngog was, he was always used as back up. Cheers {Ed002's Note - Ngog could well be moving to Bolton. Subject to other players leaving I suspect that another striker may be looked at, but equally perhaps one of the youngsters could step up.}

Ed002, will wages be a problem for Bolton with respect to Ngog? Apparently he has had a wage rise this year which priced him out of the move to Sunderland as they were not able to match his contract.

Richards {Ed002's Note - That will be something they will have to negotiate. Perhaps giving him a percentage of his sell on value could offset it.}

Would be delighted, if that youngster is pacheco. he really deserves it. Can be massive for us. Hope, he isn't moving out. Like him alot.

Quick question for ED002's,
do you think it is worht liverpool
putting a bid in for peter crouch
although we've got carroll for height
would crouch be a bad option, he
has proven how much he likes liverpool? {Ed002's Note - No I think it unlikely. He is around 30 now and I do appreciate that he scores goals wherever he goes, a player such as Park Chu Young seems to me to be a much better option. He offers the team a different dimension and that has to be good. I also think that Crouch would probably be looking for a regular start as he is getting older, and I am not sure Liverpool could offer him that.}

No thank you. Crouchie can stay away. We're in it to win it and he would only keep us down.

I know for a fact when i say this because i know someone who spoke to rafa,crouch was willing to sit on the bench behind torres if he was paid an extra 25k money grabbing...

Can see crouch as vfm.however agree with ed

I have never seen Park Chu Young play how do you rate him ed002. {Ed009's Note - Ed002 is not available right now. He is a fairly good striker who is very tricky and with a good first touch. Doesn't score a huge amount of goals though.}

12 Aug 2011 10:59:17
Ed, if u had to give a yes or no answer, do u think Gary Cahill will be playing for Liverpool this season? {Ed002's Note - Fortunately I don't have to give a yes or no answer. Possibly is the answer.}

Cash (around £10m i would guess) plus n'gog with wilson going on loan to bolton for the season will be the bid made by liverpool early next week

kp

@kp, that's what I was thinking aswel, I even said that on my Facebook page last night

Ed's the liverpool echo is reporting that liverpool were never interested in signing Dann. Does this mean we have given up on him now Arsenal have got involved or are we just more likely to sign Cahill?

Phil {Ed002's Note - It means that Liverpool will probably still get one of Cahill or Mertesacker. Cahill seems more likely particularly if a deal involving Ngog could be negotiated.}

Ed002, morning dear

Could you explain to me why you repeatedly say Mertesacker as a possible transfer? His name seems to keep coming up in your posts.

I'm not doubting you at all, I'm just interested as I think he is fantastic. He's a big lad, physical and powerful and the first choice for CB in the German squad. We would be very fortunate to get him. {Ed002's Note - He was one of the three choices for centre back - along with Dann and Cahill. It is no different to saying why does Cahill keep getting mentioned.}

Many Thanks Ed002.

Love this Site Wish you were a Red though...

If the Liverpool Echo have said the LFC have no interest in Dann , I suspect he is our number one CB target .

12 Aug 2011 10:09:37
Hi Eds, just got a question for ED002 (mutual opinion). Arsenal seems to be losing Cesc and Nasri but get around 50mil for them. Do you think AW will be able to find suitable replacement or will Arsenal struggle to attract players because their squad know looks very average?
Thanks Ed

Wheeler92 {Ed002's Note - I suspect that they were not expecting to lose both and would have thought they could do everything the could to keep Nasri. I think in Ramsey they already have cover for Fabregas and will not be so concerned. I would not be surprised to see a significant bid made for Eden Hazard if Nasri goes. Lille are expecting a bid. They seem to have let Mata go. They are still in need of a centre back as well, although Dann looks likely.}

Arsenal didn't seem to look avarage when the kids came to anfield a few years ago and beat us 6 - 3 in the carling cup

Why are we talking about arsenal?

12 Aug 2011 10:05:14
Liverpool FC have been left baffled by reports claiming they are set to lose out to Arsenal in the race for Birmingham City's Scott Dann.

The Reds haven't made an approach for the defender and he is NOT a transfer target.

Liverpool Echo

Scott Dann & Jose Enrique were Liverpool's final two targets with the exception of the young Mexican lad , but could only afford Enrique at this time. Liverpool need to move players on before they can bring in a CB, therefore this makes Arsenal favourites for his signature. If Liverpool had sold Aquilani & Ngog two weeks ago as planned, Dann would probably be a Liverpool player by now. It's a case of having to sell before they can buy.

Dann is NOT a transfer target.

You mean there is a bitter Liverpool journalist who works at the Liverpool Echo and just because Arsenal have got there first, he is now saying Liverpool were never interested in the first place. Dann & Enrique were Liverpool's final two targets. Now they will have to look elsewhere, don't be surprised if Shawcross is bid for. But it's likely to be Mertesacker or Cahill.

Hi Ed's, first of all top job on the website, thoroughly enjoy this site. secondly I was just wondering theres a lot of talk regarding Gary Cahill. Have we made a bid yet or are we in negotiations? And could perhaps Ngog be part of the deal? Lastly keep up the good work

YNWA {Ed002's Note - There has been no bid from Liverpool for Cahill. I still think the focus is on clearing the decks a little.}

I think Liverpool just dont want to involve in Biding war with arsenal. Liverpool alredy bought 4/5 player and Arsenal have more fund (as nasri and fabrigus money there hand) so Liverpool wait to see what arsenal up to then Liverpool going to choice.

12 Aug 2011 09:26:49
Norwich make bid for Daniel Ayala.

12 Aug 2011 09:20:14
There still seems like an awful lot of frantic transfer activity just waiting to kick off.
It's like a set of dominos just waiting to tumble.
Modric, forcing Spurs hand.
Cesc / Nasri, forcing Arsenal's hand.
Snjeider to one of the 'Breast shaped Hill' clubs.
Chelsea, waiting to pounce - Modric, Neymar, Cahill maybe, and poss others.
Liverpool need to sell Aqualani, Ngog, Joe Cole, maybe Meireles.
There's the 2 x English centrebacks that everyone seems to think are divvied up between Arsenal & Liverpool.
Well, they may both disappear fast in a hail of pound notes with Spurs and Chelsea maybe getting involved.
So for us, the onus is now to act quickly. If players are going, get them out fast cos it's all gonna kick off soon.
The Real KB

Totally agree,when the dominoes fall=mayhem.and we could miss quality centre half

12 Aug 2011 08:48:35
Liverpool will buy 1 maybe even 2 players we most likely to see Gary Cahill come into are squad and we could still see David Ngog until at least January because were running out on transfer money and I also can say that Aqualani will be part of Liverpool for this season but maybe cut short in january as teams want to see his ability in squads jose enrique is a done deal wearing Kit No.3 we will get Gary cahill wearing number 15 Charlie adam will shine for Liverpool I seen him when I went to watch the training he was doing great passes high through balls and amazing through balls. We need a new striker for back up for carroll and there has been rumours saying forlan and higuain well the most expected is Forlan because he wants to end his carrer in premier league eds what would you say to this info and as I shall say I have been told byy a friend who works in anfield about players in and out great site ed

LV3RP00L 5 *****

"Teams Want to seee Aquilais ability in squads"? Rubbish, all the Italins teams who are intestd aw him in Ialty last year first hand week in week out

While i would agree with most of your "forecasts", the last bit about Forlan is just your own fantasy. FSG are not going to buy a player like Forlan due to his wage demands and age.

BooDaBooze

Running out of transfer money ? tosh. yet another who does not understand how it works

Cahill in 15? thats weird since aquilani is wearing that number.

12 Aug 2011 08:32:11
question, we had a bid turned down for Enrique at the start of the transfer window. If memory serves me right wasn't it for £8m? Now Newcastle accept £5.5m sounds like good business to me. {Ed029's Note - The original bid was rumoured to be around £4m}

12 Aug 2011 08:28:34
Liverpool have made a 5m bid for Shaun wright-phillips

Murphy

Why would we bid 5m wen city have told clubs hecan go for 2m

Also why would we bid for a terrible player

Phil

£2m would not be bad to push Kuyt, don't really see Henderson out right

Brainless post, absolutely ridiculous.

What a load of rubbish 5million for him give over pal hes not worth half that ,

Push Kuyt? Kuyt needs no pushing, he's an inspiration.

Pace and cheap=i think,lol

12 Aug 2011 08:22:10
I reckon there will be surprise signings on the last day of the window and perhaps the eds just avnt caught wind of them yet? I remember in particular the andy Carroll transfer the ed broke the news 2 minutes before the rest of the world knew about it, that was on the last day in January. Not slagging the eds off they do a great job, just trying to give some form to my point. Perhaps another forward or winger or the return of alonso? Redlips

I think there will be a surprise signing at the end of the transfer window but it won't be Alonso, mainly because we don't need another CM.
With the rumours going round about Bolton bidding for Ngog i'd say it will be another striker coming in.

Rubbish only reason we bought in last hours in jan was cos our so called star striker jumped ship look back we never buy in last min that was a forced buy.

Will you people please stop chatting about Alonso Regardless of how much we love him and how much he loves us, he is in his home country, surrounded by family, in one of the best sides in the world (I hate Real) who constantly battle for the top position year in year out in all cups and competitions.

If he comes back to us, it will only be in the 2012-13 season when we have already climbed back to the top.

Alonso wont return, not this soon anyways. as much as im sure every liverpool fan wants him too, its just not gonna happen, to be honest i think we need one more GOOD striker, the ability of Ngog is not good enough for our team we need some back up for carroll and suarez of a high quality, personally i would like to see luis garcia back (as a back up, not too expensive and he can score goals) but the chances are not very high. JFT96

We all rated Alonso but HE ISN'T COMING BACK As for him coming back for the 2012/13 season well he'll be around 31 by then and unless he was on a free I doubt we'd think of taking him back.

12 Aug 2011 07:14:52
Hi Eds please post :)
Liverpool shud try and follow Barca's policy to sell youn players wiht potential
Eg:- Pacheco, Ayala, Shelvey, Insua, Wilson ..

We shud sell them for a couple of years to low-mid table teams with Buy back clause a Million / or so more then selling rate
1) We dont need to pay wages for them
2) We get money to invest now
3) Players will get first team exp.
4) If they blossom we get them back .. if not ..we have our money already..

What are your thoughts, would not Swanseas and Norwitch like to have them for a year or 2 ?

Also i think we shud bid in reverse to sell some of our deadwood ..1M to take Poulsen ..1 M for degen :D {Ed029's Note - In a strange way we may well be paying players like Poulsen to get them off the wage bill by subsidising their wages or giving them a fee to go to another club}

Agree on both viewscommon sense

12 Aug 2011 04:03:04
Newcastle to sign ngog for 5.5million with 2.2 million add ons

Rual M will e heading to athletico for 11.5 million

Aqua will join ac for 7.6million will add ons

Liverpool to sign Cahill for 17million and also put a 6million bid for park chu young

Man in the know

Wish that was ture but think it's utter BS

Rubbish.

BooDaBooze

Nearly 8 million for Ngog? You do know who he is don't you?

17 mill for cahill..hes in last year of contract more like 12 mill

Is this the same 'man in the know that's never in the know'?

MR EM

Not too sure we'll be after park Chu Young. Good player undoubtedly, but he broke his leg the other week and faces up to 9 months out. So, yeah.

Rush {Ed002's Note - Good old fashioned scaremongering - I love it. His legs are both fine. Actually, with a broken leg he would probably be more likely to sign for Liverpool.}

Very Sarcastic Ed002 (but unfortunately more than a little but true) - Glad to see you back on form

If you were so in the know, you would know it's Atletico

Park didn't break his leg, that was Bolton's Lee Chung-Yong Chu-Young is the Korea Rep captain and is better than Lee. I watched them play for FC Seoul together along with Ki of Celtic. Park made the other two look very average

As a man in the know I know you're out of your mind thinking £8 mill for Ngog

Man in the know..you don't have a Danny la rue. Poppycock

Liverpool are considering a bid for French U21 international right back Loris Nery from St Etienne.
The 20-year-old is well known by director of football Damien Comolli and can play right across the defensive line.
Mail online

They cannot make a bid because he has already gone to roma get your story straight and he was not from st etienne he was from nantes

Don't be stupid. He plays for St. Etienne NOT Nantes. You should get your story straight.

He most definitely plays for Saint Etienne

Hi Ed's, i just wanted to ask a question really, is there anything on Lavezzi? there was a fair bit about him being thrown around earlier in the window but seems to have gone quiet? Thank you. {Ed009's Note - He would almost certainly be too expensive to be considered by Liverpool as a striker option at this time.}

Thanks Ed009 much appreciated

Ed009, are you saying that liverpool have no money? I have no knowledge of the owners finances but I do believe that if they wanted him they could certainly afford him. Cheers
Ozdave {Ed029's Note - I think Ed009 is referring the fact that the owners are going to run the club in the right manner and stick to budgets etc, hence why more players could be signed if we can offload some players that we no longer want}

11 Aug 2011 23:57:44
Doesn't the real action happen on August 31. The suprise signing happen last minute

We don't have Oil Money. 20m, 16m, 8m, 6m with very little coming back in from people leaving club. That is a over spend of £10million. We still need to get CBK.

Liverpool may have to sell both Aqua or Raul to break even.

ryan shawcross may become our cheaper option at CBK. Plus Stoke signed Upson, Woodgate. Kyrgiakos could be the muscle in the deal for Ryan at £12million. Stoke would have 3 diffent kinds over CBK to cover Shawcross position.

I don't think Liverpool (read: FSG) have run out of money. We don't need to "break even." if that is the case then the fortune of John Henry et al is VASTLY overrated. It's more likely that the targeted amount of money has been spent or close to it this summer. But c'mon, what with the moves bankrolled by ownership if everyone feels we are ONE player (a centre back) away from being lock, stock and champions league spot competitive do you really think FSG will close KK and dc off from funds? You lack any sort of sense if you think after a summer this expensive we wouldn't pay for ONE more guy.

The amount of money FSG have alowed to be invested in the squad since they arrived still fails to satisfy some idiots.
Get real and take a look over the park you numpties
RIP96

There is no budget tht we know off we will sign a cb

FSG are first and foremost a business not a charity. They will have a business plan and will expect to get back far more than they put in - through both income and asset appreciation to be 'realised' (ie sold on - by young players, develop them, sell at peak).

Don't fool yourselves that they think any other way because they don't. In their heads will be a timtable of events - both an operational business plan (day-to-day so to speak) and a strategic one (long term) that they will ruthlessly persue and should it fail they won't think twice about cutting their losses and walking away. You don't get to be as big as them in business without being one thing above all - ruthless.

That said, at least you can tell from the show so far that they understand that to make money they need success and to get success they need to invest.

RED LENIN

The club will spend whatever it feels has to be spent to make 4th spot. Any higher is a bonus any less is a failier. There is no set budget.

RedLenin I agree with a lot of what you say, but the red sox havent won anything in four years and there is no conceivable circumstance in which John Henry and Larry Luchino would walk away. My monocle would fall into my champagne glass if they treated Liverpool any differently. So just echo the thoughts of everyone else, yeah if we want Gary Cahill or someone comparable I can't see us not getting him. I mean, we're not after david luiz

All valid,till shawcross

Anyone heard anything about Ayala to Norwich? {Ed002's Note - It was suggested as a destination a couple of days or so back by a very wise person.}
