Really hope we are looking at luke shaw, brilliant player, could solve our leftback issues. Eds see us as having any kind of chance to strike a deal?

Believable22 Unbelievable22

{Ed001's Note - not a chance.}

We are not going to spend a fortune on a young left back. Many people at LFC see Brad Smith as a better prospect if he keeps progressing as he has been.

Agree1 Disagree0

More likely Bertrand mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Shaw was/is mentioned as Chelsea's next left back, replacing Cole in the not too distant future.?

Agree0 Disagree0

If he goes anywhere it will be Chelsea.

I know of the interest in Will Hughes, but are we in negotiating terms yet or are we likely to be in, in the next month?

Hi Eds, I've been away sorry and tried to look back through but unless I've missed it I haven't seen much linking us to a CM (other than Will Hughes) Is he our only target for that position or do you know of any others we've been looking at? We've been short in there all season!

Believable10 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - he is not really a cm.}

Defo need to add to midfield! Hope it's on BR's Xmas wish list!

No lightweights but a proper beast please

Agree1 Disagree0

Pastore from PSG, Raktivic of Seville, Jorginho of Hellas Verona, Granit Xhaka and the token echoes of the ever present Xabi Alonso rumours that never seems to go away, are just some ''stories'' the press are running with. Not advocating them though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers for the list of current contenders pal, pastore seems to have potential but more as a link up player with the combative edge. He seems out of favour and maybe someone BR could reinstall confidence in but it is Xhaka that looks the type of player I would like him to go for given BR wouldn't go for an out and out midfielder in the mould of toure or sakho. Xhaka is known as the Swiss gerrard apparently? He is not in CL but will be at the World Cup so a January move would be key before his price and profile goes too high. Anyone else recommend other CM's?

Agree0 Disagree0

Recommendations? I recommend Cabaye, Matuidi, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas etc

In terms of realism. IDK. I've not seen anything from the club even suggesting they want another midfielder but if they do go for someone, I wouldn't expect them to be spending ridiculous money. Maybe the top end 15 mil at a stretch.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool can't buy young players with potential. They need to sign players who can come in and make a massive impact in the first eleven. Realistic midfielder targets who have been linked to us, and can make an impact are : Cabaye, Alonso, Bender and koke.

"Keisuke Honda will be a Milan player from 3 January, " says chief executive Adriano Galliani. "We have already filed the contract, although we've been keeping it secret."

Not secret enough aye Eds? You've been telling us this for how long?

Where's Macca? I miss his input on here!

Believable17 Unbelievable3

Let Milan have him.not exactly a world-beater!

Hi Eds, some time ago I read that Mateo Kovacic might be a transfer target for Man U. However, he seems like the sort of player that Liverpool badly needs since we are so vulnerable in midfield, and he looks much more the finished article than Hughes. Inter obviously would want to keep him as they probably see him as an integral part of their climb to the top of Serie A, but do you see any chance of us pursuing him in January? Maybe a bid of 25-30m euros could pry him away?

Cheers

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not be making any outlandish bids for Kovacic.}

Any news on the Jake Brimmer deal? What sort of contract will he be on if he joins, would it be youth or normal? Thanks.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I would expect it to be an U21 contract.}

Reds & Ed's would M'vila be a possibilty in Jan as he isn't having the best time in Russia? And do you think he would be good for us? Thanks

Ynwa

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe we would have any interest in a player that has more off field issues than Barton and Ravel put together. He is not that good anyway.}

eds u reckon we could try get suso back?

Believable4 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - not sure we can even if we wanted to, but no, I don't think we will panic.}

I've been seeing a lot of people typing that we ''never should of let Suso go on loan.''

Well, not to be controversial but heck, let's be controversial. I for one am really glad we managed to get the lad a club to play consistently for, as Suso was in desperate need of consistent game time and was only getting micro minutes of game time for us, Suso needed to play regularly and get a full season under his belt. He's doing really well for Almeria, as a hyped up herring in small waters but at Liverpool we'd have the ugly element of fan slating him down every time he misplaced a forward pass or ran into a mass of defenders only to lose out on possession which he has been doing a bit whilst on loan, albeit against traditionally stronger opposition.

He's been playing well overall and being really positive about his football but I think he'd be getting hammered by the same folk that still slate Lucas (still!) and now like to gang up on Allen, bandwagon bandits and such. Jack Wilshere went to Bolton a few season back and there was much less pressure to deal with and he had a great season and came back a much more complete player, Daniel Sturridge got much of the same out of his loan with Bolton, they were both able to find their own game and make the odd mistake without being nailed to any crosses. Suso is on his loan and life away from Liverpool is going in his favour so far, let us encourage him from distance and let him stand and ball on his own two feet and come back a young man who walks taller and plays with much more composure than the skinny boy we sent away for the season.

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree, just terrified of the next 4 games without gerrard. 3 defeats from 4 is a possibility, hopefully allen can step up but he looks very average
