Sebastian Coates made the Uruguay squad. Is he likely to play and could he still be in Brendan's plans? Personally, strikes me like someone who could go on to blossom if sold -to our regret. Kinda like a Gerard pique / Paul pogba.

{Ed002's Note - The club will sell him if the can.}

Giménez is injured so Lugano will likely partner Godin. Hopefully, from a Liverpool perspective, Coates will overtake Lugano, get some game time, perform & attract a buyer.

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope we keep him, I think he could be a good player

Agree1 Disagree0

From a Liverpool point of view I would like him to get ahead of Lugano, have a storming World Cup, have confidence up the wazzoo and come back to Liverpool performing like we have never seen before and playing Skrtel/Toure etc out of the team.

Unlikely I know, but if we are writing wish lists, this would be mine.

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree but BR doesn't like him for some reason. Easy replacement for Agger and backup to Sakho, besides we would also have Toure and Kelly. if we had Sakho, Skrtel, Toure, Coates (and Kelly) as our CB options next season I wouldn't mind one bit. He would also allow Ilori to go out and get game time instead of being 4th choice.

if not offers of around £4m come in then loan to a team in the Serie A would be my second option before selling him for dirt.

Agree1 Disagree0

Forgot about Caceres everyone?

Agree2 Disagree1

I'm surprised people still think he could make it at Liverpool. He's too slow, not a bit too slow but a way too slow. He's not good on the ball either. I'd imagine we'd be accepting £2m or who knows we could even accept half that.

Hopefully he will get some game time but I would expect Lugano to get the nod as per RedKev.

Wez B - I believe Caceres plays LB for Uruguay

Agree0 Disagree0

Caceres will likely play at full-back.

Maxi Peirera is the first choice right full back

Quick question eds any development with Martins Indi? I know it has been said clubs are waiting to watch him for Holland at the world cup before bidding but for the price he is going for I see him as a great option at LB or back up CB as Rojo (too expensive & llori wanting to stay in spain) And Moreno deal being delayed (The Chelsea incident etc)

Cheers PDLFC

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest in him from Liverpool.}

Hi Ed, around xmas time I remember trying to find out how Suso was doing over in Spain and I was surprised to see he was dropped, especially as he had just scored a couple and an assist ( maybe more?) in the games before that. It turns out he was fined and dropped for 4 matches for oversleeping and missing training.
I remember thinking at the time, that that seemed extremely harsh and strange for a young lad who was on form and one of the best players.
As far as your aware Ed is it just footballing ability and the fact we have players in that position that BR has decided to sell? it seems a strange decision given the lads ability and investment we have put in with him?

Believable7 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - It is what I have been saying - he wants a commitment the club won't give, so he won't sign a new contract, and he will be sold.}

Good enough for me Ed.

Agree1 Disagree0

IMO Suso will be on Isco's level soon, BR is more focused on buying the next Coutinho than to give him a go. If we kept suso last season we could have saved 7m by not buying Alberto & the same goes for Borini and Aspas.

But how he spends the money he is allocated is up to him and we have had an amazing season so I'm happy.

We should try to include Suso in a deal for Alex Sandro if Moreno doesn't pan out or for Juan Quintero if we don't sign one of our reported W/AM targets; Lallana, Shaqiri or Markovic.

Agree0 Disagree3

I think it seems the fairest thing to do for both parties. As far as Isco, I am not sure.
he is really talented and have watched him a few times last season and was impressed but I do think some are blowing his talent out of proportion a little. He is one of the better young talents we have but we have a few others that are on, or near to his level, but in his position I think Rodgers is right not to make assurances as we need a consistent and brilliant creative link in the middle

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we'll look for a buyback clause or at least a % of any future profit of his next sale. Some people wanted that for Shelvey, I didn't but I would like it for Suso.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It won't happen.}

Hi Ed002. Referring to the Buy Back Option - Do you mean that the buying club would not agree to this or do you think it would be us who would not look for this? (reduce the price now if it's the buying club)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen - I don't want to get in to explaining why.}

I was curious to see which side would prevent a buy back option because if it's that we don't look for it then it's us not rating him that highly but if it was the buying club then it would be them not wanting to give that option in case he fulfills his potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That is simply not the case - I really don't want to get in to contract, all these little clauses Liverpool fans seem to have become keen on today or money. It will simply confuse.}

That's fair enough. I've read a lot of foolish posts on money especially so fair enough.

Hi Ed002

Regarding Rakitic, are Barcelona trying to include a player in the deal as it seems Sevilla are holding firm and will not be bullied and will only let go of Rakitic until the value has been met?

Believable8 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - It is a cash deal and effectively agreed. As a side issue, Denis Suarez will probably go on loan to Sevilla.}

Hi Eds and Reds

Could someone fill me in on Suso's situation please. First I hear he was part of the Moreno deal, Now I hear he's going to sign for Porto.

Is he no longer wanted by us or Have porto offered Liverpool an acceptable bid that we couldn't refuse.

Seems weird that 1 of our brightest prospects is suddenly available for a transfer.

Cheers in advance.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - It was always going to be the case that he would want assurances and Rodgers would not be able to do that, espaecially given they are looking to add Lallana to the squad. Liverpool will sell him and have been approached by Borussia Moenchengladbach and Porto - although Borussia Moenchengladbach now have their minds set on another player.}

I think there is way too much hype about Suso. Sure he is a great prospect but can he step up like Sterling has?

If LFC really wanted to keep Suso then he would not be offered as part of deals or being moved on by selling him.

Funny how no clubs in Spain are interested in taking Suso permanently. Wonder why?

Agree3 Disagree0

Please make sure we have a buy back option on him. I think with game time in a good team he could develop into a star.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - That is really, really unlikely.}

Is there any particular reason why Liverpool wouldn't have a buy-back option? It seems like the sensible thing to do.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Yes, but I really don't want to explain as it will upset folks again.}

At least put a first option clause. Not as good but at least we get first dibs if he's up for sale

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen.}

10 Jun 2014 22:22:48
I think it would be a shame if we sold Suso. Yes he hasn't had the same impact Sterling had. But I don't think he had the same amount of time on the pitch as Raheem. Considering we had pretty much run out of steam by the last 3 games, Suso could've helped the squad. More so than Moses, Cissohko & Aspas did IMO. I'm not having a direct go at those players, I just feel Suso is a better option. Of course he won't play every game if he stats, but. We are trying to build a competitive squad capable of trying to do well on 4 fronts. A centre midfield squad of Gerrard, Allen, Can, Suso, Hendo, Lallana & Lucas (if he isn't sold) is a pretty decent mix.

Hi Eds

thanks gain for all the effort you out into this site everyone, its most appreciated.

Have any other clubs, apart from Napoli registered an interest in Reina and Agger via representitives of the club / players?

Could BR be holding out to use them as swap deals for targets, hence pricing Reina out of a permanent move to Napoli?

Thanks in advance

Believable4 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - No and no.}

Eds, what is the latest on Christian Tello, are LFC still looking at him or has interest in him been dropped?

Believable6 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool was amongst a number of clubs who enquired after Tello in January but Barcelona said he would not be moving in January but may move on in the summer if the circumstances are right. I would expect Milan to enquire further whilst Porto and Everton, who have spoken recently with Barcelona, have to decide whether to make a bid. Real Sociedad and Barcelona have discussed a one year loan deal with an option to buy or a straight exchange for Claudio Bravo as a back up to ter Stegen.}

I wonder is the media suffering from match-day fever, because I read a few reports of Liverpool been interested in signing Cerci from Torino for £16.5m. Any truth eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - There is no Liverpool interest in Cerci that I am aware of. Torino purchased the remainder of his contract earlier this year so owns him outright. Everton and Palermo have previously enquired. Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Manchester United looked at the start of the season and both Manchester City and Chelsea have made enquiries that may lead to an offer. Roma has had an offer rejected.}

10 Jun 2014 07:01:25
Eds is there any truth in us being miles apart from Sevilla asking price for Moreno or just the usual paper rubbish.
Thanks

Believable3 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - No, I explained what the outstanding issue is yesterday. Read the posts.}

10 Jun 2014 10:22:33
Seen a report this morning that it's the addons that are causing the problems, which would raise the fee up considerably! Any truth in that Ed?

from my understanding of Ed002s input, which by the way is from what the agent has said, is that we have agreed a price, probably agreed a package with the player as well, but have yet to agree on the payment details.

without going into it too much payment details would mean how the payment will be, how much up front, how many years to settle the rest etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It won't be "years" but broadly yes.}

also I must add that the post from Ed002 was just a few post down. not so hard to find.
