Eds, with Lucas looking set to leave and Can being seen as the long term option in that position, I just wanted to ask about speculation over Delph. His name has been mentioned before and I'd assume those links may crop up again once Lucas leaves but would it be safe to say the club has no interest in him or any other player for the cdm position? Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Spurs have shown an interest in Fabian Delph and I suspect he has been considered by a number of other clubs including Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal as he will be out of contract at the end of this season. Aston Villa will attempt to have him sign a new contract.}

Thanks for clearing that up Ed.

I see a lot of sites reporting a move for Benzema. He has apparently shown interest to move to Anfield and Real Madrid are looking to replace him with Falcao. Any truth behind this?

Believable9 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Benzema will be allowed to leave in the summer but he won't be moving to Liverpool in January. And as a replacement they have others in mind.}

Has he not said, previously, that we are not a big enough club for him? Pretty sure we would not be considered.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he said something along the lines of asking why he would want to leave Real Madrid for another club. It was more about bigging up them, than insulting Liverpool.}

Hey eds do we still hold interest in benteke, also are we still looking kiko casilla?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - The interest in Benteke was way back and Liverpool have added plenty of strikers since then, so I would say not. I am not aware of any interest in Casilla from Liverpool.}

I think maybe a loan offer for Marc-Andre ter Stegen would make sense. He isn't playing at the moment and he wants games. But Barca probably won't want to sell him. It would at least solve our goalkeeper position for the rest of the season.
What do you think eds, any chance?

Believable6 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that Barcelona cannot replace him.}

Can they take players from there b team?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Anyone heard the rumour that Inter have made an offer for Lucas? I know the eds have said he is interested in moving, but if Rodgers sanctions this then we truly are done for as there is no one else in the squad who can do what he does. Gutted that he feels he has to leave because of BR.

Believable14 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Why would this be a shock. I have explained over and over that it would be happening.}

10 Jan 2015 01:03:02
Probably should have thought of that before we started leaving him out of the squad, maybe then he wouldn't have wanted to leave?

Agree1 Disagree0

On reflection it's not really a shock, but it shows even more poor management by BR in letting go the only competent player in that position. Another one Brendaned.

Its a shock as he helped change results around you'd like ti think we'd have the sense to keep him until the summer

Hang on, many one here were slagging the lad off a few weeks ago. Typical this.

Lucas should have been gone at least 3 years ago from Liverpool. Can will prove to be far better than him.
It was about time.

in the last 6 weeks Liverpool remained unbeaten in 12 out of 13 matches in all competition. The only match we lost was against ManU when Joe Allen replaced Lucas. I am excited to see Joe Allen coming back when Lucas leaves.

And you think this is because of Lucas? Funny stuff!

Hello Pirate!
Look at the stats of the matches without Lucas. Only two wins. You do not have to score to win matches. Lucas' presence offers stability in the midfield. Today for instance he was pressing high and won some brilliant tackles which lead to counter attacks.

If Lucas was so poor 4 consecutive managers (Benitez, Roy, Kenny and BR) won't have made him their first choice CDM.

I don't see Can as a replacement CDM. From what we've seen of him so far he has the same weaknesses as Stevie in that role. He doesn't read the game defensively and is too prone to wandering into an attacking position, plus he doesn't cover other players. He's far more effective box to box like he was today, sat alongside a CDM like Lucas. His energy would be wasted sat in front of the defence.
