Liverpool moving ahead with Bradley Barcola after this Saturday's 3rd place play off between France and England, expect movement next week.

I'm told by a very close source to the club that if Curtis Jones does not leave in this transfer window, the club will come back to him with a improved contract offer.

As things currently stand, Liverpool do not intend on signing a RB.

Personally, based on what I am hearing - I only expect a winger and one more signing to be made following the acquisitions of Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.

Vik, as I've been saying since March/April, the club didn't give Grav a 6 year contract on £280k pw just to replace him. They obviously feel he's up to the task. I agree, a proper destroyer would be a key addition, but I just don't see us making a move for one, unfortunately. Maybe we cash in on Macca, if he wants to leave, and find somebody to fill that role, but I don't see us doing much else in midfield.

I know what you mean with Jones. He can be immensely frustrating. I don't think there's a player in the squad that has me cursing at the TV as much as Jones does, but for a relatively young homegrown 'talent' (however out of place that word may be), he has bag loads of experience, and I think Iraola may just be the man to plug the holes in his game.

If he could just sharpen his decision-making and stop holding up the ball so much, he would be twice the player he is now, I'm hopeful that Iraola's style will bring some much needed urgency and decisiveness to his game. I'm willing to let bygones be, if he can show a marked improvement. At the same time, I admit it may be the Scouse 'romance' blurring my vision, as I can't stand the thoughts of a Liverpool team without a local in it. If he doesn't kick on under Iraola, his missus can drag him to Milan.

Predictable England. Over hyped and bang average. I've watched one game all tournament and its this one and its been terrible. So glad this nonsense is over so we can get back to proper footy.

I mean England are literally the third or fourth best team in the whole tournament. If they are bang average, then I don't know what you would call the other 44 teams.

The extended tournament has distorted things quite a bit. The likes of Scotland are poor, teams like Norway are average. They just happen to have the freak of nature that is Haaland.

The tournament only really gets going quality wise at the quarters.

England have three really good players in Kane, Bellingham and Rice who would get in most international teams or at least close to; the rest wouldn't. France were the standout team in terms of attractive football, Spain the ultimate controllers.

Mayor Humdinger, whilst they may technically be the 3rd/4th best team, I don't think they really are, I believe there's a few more teams they haven't faced who could beat them.

Regardless of whether you think England are the 3/4th best team or the 7/8th best team, they are clearly not 'bang average'. They are still one of the top 10 national teams in the world. Bang average would be going out in the round of 32.

Lots of criticism of players but I think Pickford was at fault for both goals.
Enzo shot had little venom and it was not top corner, more in the mid above region, should have been easy to stop.


93-minute cross in box (great cross) but he doesn't even come out to catch or punch it!! Just feet stuck where is in slow motion.

Blame Tuchel for negative tactics but his keeper should be saving them.

Guess it's his fault nobody won the header for the 2nd goal, or marked Matinez, or stopped the cross...

Wonder if Pickford didn't play for Everton, then he wouldn't be blamed.

I suppose not every keeper can be like Alison... he doesn't concede any goals.

Fully agree, shocking goalkeeping for both. His positioning was terrible, too far left on both occasions. The equaliser was in the middle of the net and he was in absolute no man's land for the winner.

JLC, give over with the 'straw man fallacy'; it was woeful goalkeeping for both goals. I say that as a supporter who has no ill-will towards rivals.

Defensively as a unit we were poor last night, they carved us open at times quite easily. If they had better finishing they would have been out of sight. We looked leggy in midfield and out of sorts, they just played around us rather than doing us with pace.

That's the difference between their step up in quality compared to say Mexico or Norway who made our defensive unit look better.

Be interesting to see how we do against France as their attack is the best we will have faced, I guess it'll depend whether either team is that motivated or just wants to get back on the plane home. Hopefully Barcola shines as he's had a mixed tournament, be nice to see if he has that real quality when he's up against English physicality.

Macca was not holding the flag. By the looks of it, he had little or no interaction with those who were.

Alexis Mac Allister and Emi Martinez both seem to have the sense not to bite the hand that feeds them.

Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez should have their work visa's revoked and be blocked from re-entering the country in my opinion. If you hate Britain so much you are prepared to take a radical political stance on the biggest stage on earth, do one because I you're quite clearly a threat to our society.

Hopefully our government show some backbone for once.

What's the opinion on using Szob as our RW option this season? Looks like Diomande could be a no go. Next strongest rumour it's Barcola who is definitely better on the left, and we all agree we need a bit more bite in midfield.

Szob has played a lot of football on the right for RBL and Hungary, and moving him out there would allow us to add a bit more steel next to Grav and Wirtz.



Might be a way to navigate a bad RW market right now, tighten things up in midfield, and get our best players on the pitch (just don't see a midfield 3 of Grav, Szob and Wirtz working well).

This is obviously assuming Szob signs a new deal. If not, tell him he's being benched for 2 years and just play without a RW out of spite.

Would prefer to play Szob in the position he would be most effective and for me that's in the middle of the pitch, but it depends on the set up of the rest of the team.
That said, he played on the right mainly for RBL before we bought him to very good effect, and he's a lot quicker than some are giving him credit for.

If we don't sign a RW for whatever reason I could certainly see it happening and wouldn't be against it.
I.e., given a straight choice between signing Diomande and playing Szob central or signing Sidike and playing Szob on the right, I'd take the latter option.
