so both city and arsenal are out of CL
i do hope it deals a psych blow to them
but can we pick ourselves up and capitalize on any slips ups they may have in the PL? or will we continue to slip up ourselves?

I just hope in this final stretch, Klopp pushes the players to do one final high pressing game - we win big or lose, doesn't matter, just play the way that best reflects Klopp and the football he brought to us

and please no possession slow build up, it yields neither results nor entertainment. even if we win nothing else this season, let's at least make games exciting and enjoyable.

Not shocked at Arsenal. England’s laughing stock in Europe. But Man City was a pleasant surprise, shame they aren’t playing in the prem this weekend they could be tired. Hopefully Chelsea drag them through another extra time.

Let's hope that's confidence draining for Man City.

And physically draining too,

Anyone else thinking we should just go for it tomorrow night and play a 4-2-4 formation? Mac Allister and Endo in the midfield for a bit of defensive cover and then Gakpo, Jota, Nunez and Salah as the four attackers?

Nothing to lose, might as well properly go all out and see what happens!

Given that PSG went to Barcelona and tore them apart 4-1 what have we got to lose but to go for broke. Think that’s a great idea.

If it happens I’m applying for Klopp’s job 👍.

Afternoon,

So I have a good friend who works in Home retail, quite high up, and apparently every so often they have a high profile case, and obviously word travels fast who is buying/ selling homes, I. e Celebrities.
According to him on his WhatsApp group, Alisson Becker has put his home up for sale, but apparently, the company responsible for the seeing over of the sale, are finding him another home. So it looks like everyone can stop panicking about him leaving as it is another home in the area, just bigger.

Maybe he could just move into Firminho's house which has also just gone on the market (and looks very nice) .

If City are retrospectively deducted points from seasons going back, I assume we then are recorded as the league champions for those seasons?

{Ed002's Note - That is not going to happen.}

You’d have to be living under a record to think that’s the outcome.

LOL Ron.

Ed, If u can understand my point re City, I wonder if there’s an answer to - IF City are found guilty for financial infringement for let say 2019/ 20 season, let’s say they won the league after that financial infringement.

My question, re scenario above, City gained prize money for winning the league after financial infringement, doesn’t it then benefit them for the (using example above) 20/ 21 season as they would have a larger budget due to prize money gained to spend on players?

Essentially what I’m thinking is if they financially circumvented the rules one season and the following season is also tarnished due to prize money earned and increased budget power re players. Do you Ed think this will be taken into account re possible punishment?

{Ed002's Note - The difference in prize money per place in PL is small. It is not possible to remove points and award everything to Liverpool retrospectively. You need to take such discussions to the Manchester City page.

Relegation is the only suitable outcome.

17 Apr 2024 20:04:30
Man City have a whole page?

No matter what, I still want Klopp to have a good send off. Having said that I still maintain that it's the right time for him leave as things have run their course, with new fresh ideas and approach needed. But putting that aside for tomorrow's big game - can the boys for the love of everything play with some pride and energy for goodness sakes. If we play to our ability we are capable of beating Atalanta 4-0. However, It will require those two things from the boys and a good tactical setup and team selection from the manager.

If Trent strolls into midfield on our first attack, I’m going to cry.

17 Apr 2024 13:36:50
How have things run there course? You’re talking like the man has run out of ideas. We have had a draw and two defeats on the bounce that have took us from top of the league to joint 2nd and that’s running his course? Game over. You will be crying next season when we are Tottenhamesgue I will remind you of your fresh ideas post.

Oh, hi there again Scouse John. Fancy seeing you comment under my post. It’s almost like you hunt for my posts to see what you can pick apart. It’s an opinion, and it’s fine to have differing opinions. Many have said the same thing regarding Klopp, including posters and Ed’s. But somehow I don’t see you commenting on their post when they have made the same remark. You sure you ain’t got an alert set up, so whenever I post it pings up on your phone? 😂.

I guess these sort of things shouldn't bother me, but they do. If we can't/ don't win the league this season, would I prefer City or Arsenal?

The answer should be simple; Arsenal. I always quite liked Arsenal actually, or at least I didn't dislike then in the way I do Manchester Utd, Chelsea, City. Not sure why, maybe it stems from the fact that for a number of years under Wenger they were the only team that came close to challenging Utd, so I got behind them for that reason. Lately though I really don't like them. I think it's mainly down to Arteta who I find really dislikable. On the other hand, I despise what City have done, and been allowed to do, and more generally I hate that clubs have been able to inorganically catapult themselves from also-rans to serial winners. So I hate everything about City and everything that they win.

However, if I look at it through the lens of Klopp and his legacy as he leaves, I find myself finding a City title win to be the lesser of two evils. As things stand, Klopp's Liverpool can hold their heads reasonably high in saying they have been the only club able to stop City's dominance. If City win the league, Liverpool will be the only team to stop them from winning the league in a seven year period. People who understand these things will know that had City been subject to more rigid and robust financial rules to stop clubs doing what they have done, Liverpool would likely have won a couple of more league titles during this period. If Arsenal win the league this season, then the unavoidable fact will be that in the nine years that Klopp has been at Liverpool; Arsenal/ Arteta and Leicester/ Ranieri will have won the same number of league titles. Of course we all value and love Klopp for more reasons than the one league title he has won, but one title in nine years for a manager who we consider amongst our greatest ever, and with a team that included players who were considered by many to be the best in the world in their positions (Alisson, van Dijk, both full backs, Fabinho, Salah) feels like we should have won more.
