A couple of comments. First about coming from behind, Sky posted an interesting stat. We have 27 points, when conceding first but that is our downfall, allegedly.

In second place? Manchester City, with 24 points this season after conceding first but they're going to win the league.

I don't buy the fatigue and tiredness, Klopp rotates more than any other manager in the top 3. I mean Pep barely uses 2 subs let alone 5! And Arteta has had the luxury of naming pretty much the same XI week in, week out and they still look fresh and eager for blood.

I must be the only one excited for the new season
With ----- the current squad and obviously new additions plus the youngsters who have played

Think of the impact
A new manager a new voice
New coaches
New training and overall new people aroun and ideas

It will all help the club -

Klopp has done an amazing job and now he passes the torch for the next guy

A champions league place will be gained im sure of it
One trophy won .
First season for some of the players at lfc

I think the negativity from pundits is insane
Yes it's been a poor 6 weeks but ok it happens
Happened to arsenal last year and they made more additions

Big deal
Lfc r still in aVery good place and set for next year.

After last season I was hoping that somehow we could finish in the top 4, especially with all our midfielders leaving, and new ones brought in.

I never expected us to be challenging on all fronts so far into the season, particularly with half the team out injured for so long.

I know players have become available recently, but it was too late in the season. Most players need a few games to get up to match speed after lengthy absenses, and I did fear that could actually be a disadvantage, which has turned out to be the case.

For me, I think this team has probably achieved what I hoped for at the start of this campaign. The fact our hopes were raised so high for so long makes the current situation feel really bad, but come on, did anyone genuinely think we would get this far with half a new team and so many long term injuries this season?

Hello ed2 hope u well. u have favoured slot for lfc job for a good while when nobody mentioned him and looks like he going to be the new manager. u have also said his style of football which will suit us. Do u know what formation he prefers? Or currently plays at feyenord? A lot of 'newer' managers seem to prefer 3 at the back.

{Ed002's Note - He typically uses a 4-2-3-1 formation.}

I am not feeling confident at all about him :/.

Thanks.

Defo need a new striker in the summer. Nunez is not the answer. Never has, never will be. 0% composure in front of goal. He's not raw, he's 24 nearly 25 and approaching his peak years. Time to get rid.

Absolutely criminal the way the season has gone down the pan. How are we' still playing slow, ponderous football when it's never got us a result? Klopp and the backroom staff are to blame and it's such a shame.

Nunez has scored 17 goals this season and 10 assists i believe. What has gakpo, jota and Diaz contributed to compare? Are they getting sold too?
I'd like to see nunez under q new gaffer to see if his composure improves.

Gakpo, Diaz and Jota did not cost £85 million. Nunez was bought to be the new focal point of our attack, the player that would make the difference, during the same period when Haaland was bought by City. For me, Nunez has had more than enough chances, played far more games than the other 3, and has replied with a paltry figure.

Nunez has recorded 50 games this season, 18 goals.

In the Prem, Nunez played 32 and scored 11. He scored against Newcastle (twice), West Ham, Nottingham Forest, 2 months later scored against Burnley, Bournemouth (twice), Burnley again, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United.

In the Europa League, Nunez played 10 games and scored 5, against inferior opposition. He scored against LASK, Toulouse, twice against Sparta, then once against Sparta.

In the FA Cup, Nunez played 3 and scored 1. He scored against Norwich.

In the EFL Cup, Nunez played 5 and scored 1. He scored against Bournemouth.

That tells you the player he is, scores only against teams where he will be afforded countless chances. Then, when we actually need him, to break down and score against bigger teams, he wastes the few opportunities he is in position for. And, that is when he is not caught offside.

For me, the boat has sailed with Nunez. And, if any manager that comes in relies on his performance, finishing ability and even availability, then he will find himself out of a job very quickly.

Nunez can be the focal point in our attack but the current slow possession nonsense tactics don't suit him.
If he play fast chaotic footy, the sort of footy that Klopp won everything with, he can be good and I retain absolute faith he can be great. He was no worse than Salah who yet again was abysmal, even the pundits are starting to notice, although about 18 months after myself, but they get there in the end.
No, fault for this damp squib of a send off for Klopp rests entirely at his own feet. He has turned his back on the very style, attitude and tactics that made him and us great. He's betrayed himself and paid for it. Let's hope Slot brings some passion, energy and bravery on the ball back to our play.

I've been a big fan and defender of Nunez but the stats don't lie. For this team, playing the way we currently do, he is not the player for us.

That's not to say that a new style (probably tweaked) under a new manager won't bring out the best of him - I refer to Ron Keague's post of a couple of days ago where he points out that the way we currently play doesn't work with Nunez's strengths - but right now he has gone from a firm fixture ("he will come good") to a definite risk for me.

What's your opinion on Curtis Jones, eds? Honestly not sure what his actual position is or what he brings to our team. Has he improved as a player or our team in the last three seasons? Reckon any new manager won't want him hanging around much longer. I've certainly lost any goodwill I had for him. Just baffled as to why he hasn't seemed at all to have improved as a player.
Him, salah, konate, matip, kostas andone of Diaz or nunez most likely won't be here in New season.

{Ed001's Note - he was doing well until he got injured again, but you clearly just wanted to target him so why waste time asking us for our opinion? Yes he has been poor since his return, but the whole team has been, however you are choosing him as the target.}

I was more suggesting that elliot would bring more to out team than Jones, but Jones gets picked far more. Elliot for me links up better with strikers and has a better, but by no means perfect, end product than Curtis. Yet klopp prefers Curtis based on appearance time and wanted to know your thoughts on who you would choose between the two.

{Ed001's Note - they are not competing for the same spot, Elliott plays right side, Jones left.}

24 Apr 2024 22:45:01
I actually thought Jones was very tidy with the ball in most parts. He's probably our best player on the ball. he's very very good at retaining it aided with his physical strength.

24 Apr 2024 22:55:13
I think Jones is good to slow a game down and retain possession. So for me a sub coming on to close out a game.

My favourite bit about slot is the narrative. Dutch managers struggle in the Premier league, employing a Dutch manager is a risk, a Dutch manager has never won the Premier league.

By that metric we're should be looking for someone scottish or who has a grandad from Spain and a nan from Germany.

No English manager has ever won the PL!
Wenger the first French
Mourinho the first Portuguese
Pep the first Spanish
Klopp the first German
Slot to be the first Dutch then.

24 Apr 2024 22:43:12
It'll likely be City winning it until they go off and form a European super league. Slot will probably do a decent job for us though.
