Was at the game, last night, Ed025. Considering that you had little to play for, and we were still up for PL title, your attitude and commitment to the game was first class, whereas ours was an absolute disgrace.

Not that I needed it confirming, as I've been to loads of Merseyside derby's, but the atmosphere is vile, far worse than when we play the Mancs. You've been saying this for years, I know. Whatever happened to the friendly Derby? Hope you're well, mate.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid that ship sailed many moons ago Rome, im one of the lucky ones who went to Wembley twice in the 80,s and the atmosphere and comradeship between our supporters was spot on mate, i would say from the late 90,s it went downhill, and i have not attended a derby for a long time due to the vitriol and sheer nastiness that i witnessed, that is both sets of supporters, really sad but i think its more of a social problem than a football one as the lack of respect for each other is astounding, im good thanks mate and hope you and your family are too, cheers..

There is nothing wrong with Nunez - he is a class act and uyou can see that in his positioning and runs. He just doesn't fit he style we play under Klopp and that's all there is to it. To get the best out of him would probably require an orthodox 4-4-2, with Jota playing off his shoulder and Gakpo as the reserve striker.

Klopp's departure is probably also weighing on the players minds. A new manager will have new ideas, new tactics, new style and will look to bring players in and offload players that don't fit.

Really, we've never got over the loss of Sadio Mane.

{Ed025's Note - there is something wrong with Nunez RL, hes a striker who cant strike mate..

Yeah a 4-4-2 with a goalscorer playing alongside him šŸ˜‚.

Ed025 I'd like to see him under a new coaching set up. This whole "finishing" topic has been going on long before nunez. I remember mane missed a massive chance against leister which cost us the game and essentially the title. I remember salah couldn't score against Madrid in the final. When it really matters there have been numerous times our "finishing" was poor.
Yes there's a discussion on nunez but he's still scored 17 goals this season and 10 assists in a system that i detest. The footballs woeful most of the time. Gakpo and gravenberch cost over 70 million and how many goals or assists have they contributed? Diaz misses massive chances all the time. There's not unlimited worldclass finishers out there. Harry kane and that's it. Maybe haland but kanes elite.

{Ed025's Note - i think i would give him another season MIZER because i feel he still has a lot to offer, but he has to improve on his finishing and composure mate..

Elliot in for salah
Anyone in for Nunez

Drastic but can we play any worse.

Nope not for me.

We need to drop this obsession with playing Trent in midfield, in my opinion. He needs to go back to playing as a right back and putting deliveries into the box. Salah has been rank awful for a while now, but playing Elliott instead of him isn't the answer either. I'd do Gakpo down the left and Diaz down the right. Nunez down the middle, as there is no one else, unless we chuck Danns in.

For the time being I'd play Endo holding midfield, though we need a replacement in the summer, Mac Allister and Elliott. I still don't fancy us and I can't wait for this season to end.

We win together, we lose together. Liverpool loss is my loss. I take it on chin and own up. The team is reflection of the fan. I did not do my best during each match as i was busy with work, i did not buy enough merchandise to help the club, i did not criticise enough when we were top. Its my fault. Anyone own up too?

{Ed025's Note - no...its just your fault Lee.. :)

Great stuff, cheered me up that.

25 Apr 2024 18:13:54
I haven't gave out about the owners recently, hands up my fault.!

25 Apr 2024 18:24:34
Apology accepted šŸ‘.

25 Apr 2024 18:32:36
Don't blame yourself Leek. You criticized a lot.

25 Apr 2024 19:41:38
Don't beat yourself up, Leak. You're up there with the most negative posters, so you've done your bit.

I know this post might get some criticism but if I was in charge of the transfer dealings of a football club, I would avoid signing players from countries that play international tournaments during the season e. g. Afcon and Asia cup.

Salah got injured during afcon and has come back from his injury in the absolute worst form since he joined the club. This isnā€™t the first time Afcon has derailed a season during Kloppā€™s tenure either. I understand that these tournaments cannot be played during the summer due to temperatures but that shouldnā€™t mean that the club paying the players wages should suffer.

Ridiculous post. Who would you have had us sign instead of Mane and Salah who could have been half as good as they were for us?

25 Apr 2024 17:08:57
@lamborini good way to start a debate mate! Itā€™s simply my opinion, both salah and mane were brilliant servants but both players leaving for AFCON had caused problems multiple times during klopps tenure. I donā€™t think itā€™s a wild opinion that the club paying the wages of the players should be the priority but maybe thatā€™s just me.

There's been a lot of talk lately about what Michael Edwards will or won't do to the squad this summer. Do the Eds have any knowledge on which of the signings in recent years were pushed for by the recruitment team and which were vouched for by Klopp? It know it isn't black and white. Also how do you see Michael Edwards' greater power affecting our transfers going forwards?

{Ed002's Note - Edwards does not pick the players.}

It's documented that he twisted Klopp's arm on Salah.

25 Apr 2024 13:59:36
A couple of comments. First about coming from behind, Sky posted an interesting stat. We have 27 points, when conceding first but that is our downfall, allegedly.

In second place? Manchester City, with 24 points this season after conceding first but they're going to win the league.

I don't buy the fatigue and tiredness, Klopp rotates more than any other manager in the top 3. I mean Pep barely uses 2 subs let alone 5! And Arteta has had the luxury of naming pretty much the same XI week in, week out and they still look fresh and eager for blood.

StEtienne ā€“ thatā€™s an interesting take on it.

Our downfall is not that we have taken so many points after conceding first. That has been the strength that has allowed us to stay in the hunt so long despite this inexplicable recurring habit of starting poorly and giving the opposition a head start. The downfall is obviously not the recovery; itā€™s the fact that we so often find ourselves in a position needing to recover, and even if weā€™re good at it (the best in the league if you measure it in points terms), if you need to do it time and time and time again because you donā€™t address a glaring problem, sooner or later there will come an occasion (s) when you canā€™t turn it around. And that is where we have found ourselves lately.

Utd ā€“ we started badly, they scored first and we could only draw:
Palace ā€“ we started badly, they scored first and we then wasted a load of possession and missed chances. We lost the match 1-0
Everton ā€“ we started poorly, they scored first, we had loads of possession and chances that we didnā€™t take and then they scored again. We lost 2-0

Thatā€™s just recent matches. Also Luton away: we started badly, they scored, we eventually equalised but dropped points against a team who have lost 21 out of 34 matches. Brighton away: started badly, conceded first, drew, dropped two points. Arsenal at home. Started poorly and they scored very early. We drew 1-1, a better start that day might have meant a clean sheet, a win and a three point swing for us over Arsenal. And then away at Arsenal ā€“ started poorly, they scored early again and on that occasion we couldnā€™t turn it around.

So even though we might win the ā€œpoints scored after conceding firstā€ cup, the points we have dropped along the way by not addressing this continued problem with giving the opposition a start, could be argued to have cost us the league.
