Is anyone else excited about signing Munoz? He seems to be getting overlooked when chatting about signings, but I think he's got the potential to be massive for us. He seems to have a great mentality from what I've seen of his back story.

I have never seen him play.

16 Jul 2026 19:49:34
Arsenal set to bid for Rogers. I think it's a shame we aren't in the mix. I'd take him over Barcola.

Not a winger.

16 Jul 2026 20:19:55
Tuchel thinks he is a winger! 😄

The club need a proper 6. I'm not particularly interesting in the attackers we'll sign.
You need a midfield to supply them. This means having the ball, not being overran and outwitted. Anderson would have been perfect in another timeline.
Iriola can't transform that midfield with what's available. I hope we buy an engine with bite. Has to be done.

The club have confirmed Jacquet will wear the number 5 shirt. I know it's not definitive, but this has convinced me even further that the club see him as a starter next season. The £60m fee was already pretty convincing!

16 Jul 2026 18:59:05
Definitely will be as it stands. At least until Leoni returns anyway, that kid is a beast. Wouldn't be surprised to see Zabarnyi end up with us as well.

2

16 Jul 2026 19:19:42
The game against Southampton, when Leoni injured his knee, he looked superb. Whatever he did looked effortless.
I remember my Da telling me about players that just seem to glide across the grass. Leoni seems to be one of those. Pleased the boy is doing well and soon to be back.

16 Jul 2026 19:31:30
Jacquet was always seen as the replacement for Konate, Leoni looks the real deal but only a chap and not sure how he will perform after his injury. Still think we are a cb short. Zabarnyi, if achievable, would be a great addition, and you would think that should be the cb position sorted for the coming season.

1

16 Jul 2026 20:18:27
I have high hopes for both Jacquet and Leoni, but it is a risk. Especially as Gomez has his fitness struggles, and VVD is not getting any younger. I am with the others. Zabarnyi would be such a great addition; it would help us for the here and now, and also help to replace VVD, as we have to accept this is likely his last season with us.

Conor Bradley is back which is great news. Should be bk for September time.
Has to be the lads last chance though in terms of injuries. I hope he has a full injury season and kicks on finally.
A full fit Conor would become a top class attacking full back under Iriola.

Been very unlucky with injuries, and also lost his father at a very young age the season before, good fortune will hopefully be his way now.

Another Con(n)or, Oliver O'Connor has signed his first professional contract today at the AXA Training Centre, and guess what? a fellow RB also, probably well known now, Jacquet received his squad number today, number 5.

Talking of injured players, Andoni did a roll call for injuries today. Danns picked up a knock with training with the U21s last week, Bajcetic is slowly, slowly improving, but not fit enough to start pre-season training, likewise with Waturu Endo.

The other two, though not mentioned in the article, are I guess Leoni and Hugo, so the same as Jacquet's number 5.

He also had a big smile that next season's LFC squad would have a Spanish World Cup Winner! Is that a bye, bye to Alexis? In a round about way. In his brief update he also said the World Cup Winner could play on the Right or Left, and has the work rate also for all that we will require, that seems like he is keeping the spot warm for Hugo's return?

2

16 Jul 2026 18:04:38
So, the rubbish claims a few weeks back that his injury was "far worse than we thought" were just that - rubbish. Looking forward to seeing him back, hopefully he can stay fit.

1

16 Jul 2026 18:10:13
Hopefully we play Real Madrid again this season so he can have his annual good game.

2

16 Jul 2026 18:15:41
Great player Bradley, hopefully, an injury free season to show what he can become.

3

16 Jul 2026 18:43:13
Don't get how people can say it's his last chance with injuries? It's not. I can name a few players we've stood by, but more recent Sturridge, Gomez, Agger and Matip. Love everyone of them, but we stood by them, as we will Bradley. Hope he wins Ballon d'Or whilst that other one is doing the tour of newly promoted teams when RM bin him.

4

16 Jul 2026 19:33:49
Scouse, it absolutely is Bradley's last chance because the club need a regular long term right back. If Bradley gets injured again for a lengthy period, a top right back will be sought elsewhere, and Bradley will be for sale.

Here's a good question. Ed's can get involved. Ed025 I know would chose Henderson 🤣
Who was/is the better player? Jordan Henderson in his peak years under Klopp or this Declan rice?
I think rice is excellent for Arsenal and is integral in the modern game. I don't think he's world class or even top class. He's a very good consistent player who scored one of the best free kicks I've ever seen live against real Madrid.
Henderson improved and improved as a young 21 year old up until 30.

Constantly got better and better and did many thing's in a game the average fan wouldn't pay attention too. A very good passer of the ball, a great engine and scored some beauties. Again, he was never World class for me but there was a season where I thought yes, this lad is now top class. That's when we were flying under Klopp.
You could roll a dice🤣on who to choose but I think Henderson brought more out of players around him.

2

16 Jul 2026 16:50:56
If Jordan played for any other team, we'd pick Rice all day long.

Jordan was our captain though, and I'll be forever grateful for his contribution.

Not the most talented, but a leader nonetheless.

Generally, the best players are not always the captains, and that was true for Hendo.

He was ours, and I'm so glad he was...

16 Jul 2026 17:00:52
I think Rice is massively overrated by the English press. He’s a centre back who has been converted into a midfield player, and it shows. But that’s why he suits Arsenal. His defensive mindset is exactly what Arteta wants, and he can take a decent corner. He’s integral to Arsenal, but that’s because he suits the system.

I do struggle to find anything that he does which is at an elite level.

Hendo was similar for us. He didn’t do anything particularly elite, football-wise, but was integral to our team. His leadership and professionalism were second to none.

I don’t think there’s much to choose between them, both flawed players, but both hugely important to their title-winning teams.

Ed025 😂😂😂😂
Take of those blue tinted glasses. Didn't you know, blue light is terrible for your eyes?

1

16 Jul 2026 17:05:53
Declan Rice is a central defender pretending to be a midfielder.

2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - does that mean Hendo is a traffic cop pretending to be a footballer MH?...just asking for a friend.. :)

2

16 Jul 2026 17:17:54
Rice, for me.

0

16 Jul 2026 17:33:27
Rice is overrated, overpriced and overhyped.

2

16 Jul 2026 17:40:43
I'd take peak Henderson over every single one of our soft as diarrhoea midfielders right now. Not one of them has his work ethic or leadership.

2

16 Jul 2026 17:48:59
Rice is a fantastic player, no doubt, but ability isn't everything. Rice hasn't come through anything near like what Hendo has.
Henderson was the captain of a team that was comfortably one of the best in the world for a prolonged period. He wasn't wanted for lack of perceived ability. Remember, we accepted a bid from Middlesbrough for him and he said no. He stayed, turned it around, and, through pure grit and determination, forced his way back into the team and brought the best out of those around him at the same time through his leadership.

No, he wasn't an amazing footballer, even though his passing, vision and crossing are still massively underrated for me, but in those years where the club won everything available he was one of the first names on the team sheet, and I'd say there's a good reason for that.
When Rice can say the same to all that, then I'll concede his naturally superior ability would make me pick him. Until that happens, though, it's Hendo all day, every day for me.

2

16 Jul 2026 17:54:15
One of them lads has won it all as captain.

16 Jul 2026 17:01:43
Why ask a bitter anything about Liverpool or Liverpool players.Ed025 thinks Gerrard was rubbish, that's all you need to know about his opinion on Liverpool players

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i dont think he was rubbish Strom, an odious little irk yes but a decent footballer i would say mate..

1

16 Jul 2026 18:18:16
When England won it in 1966 (I was 11 then, probably still am!), they had absolute world class players in the "spine of the team" the most important part of any football team:

Banks, Moore, Ball, Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst. In every World Cup since, a lack of truly world class players has, and will always be, the reason they will never win it.

Class always beats work rate.

A football question for all concerning the "Spine of the Team" and who was the greatest football manager Liverpool ever will have whose anecdote for stressing the importance of a strong spine was:

"A Football Team is like a Piano."

"It takes Eight men to carry it, and Three to play It" (CH, CM, CF)

I saw Hendi geeing up the players in the water break lately. He was a great captain.
Sorry, lost my train of thought watching Jo Blythe doing weather.

1

16 Jul 2026 18:46:06
"An odious irk" the hell does that mean. The man was a god on the pitch in Gerrard. Mind you, Everton fans tell me Duncan Ferguson was good at football.

Hendo all day. Even today's Hendo at 30 odd.

0

16 Jul 2026 18:51:38
A traffic cop with every winners medal you can win in club football.

Not too shabby, hey.

1

16 Jul 2026 18:52:07
Hendo could pick out a pass. He wasn't all sideways (pointing). He was also a proper leader on/off the pitch. I'm not suggesting Rice is a terrible player, he's class, but a prime Hendo would have destroyed Rice.

1

16 Jul 2026 18:18:18
Ed025 Gerrard was only decent, like saying Usain Bolt could Jog a bit

Hard to judge Rice until he gets to play for a more expansive manager. He might be held back by the defensive setup, so far, for me he's a good defensive midfielder, no Rodri, however, he might be better as an all action midfielder like Henderson, but I haven't seen it yet.

0

16 Jul 2026 20:13:58
In fairness to Rice and Hendo, they're the type of players u only really miss when they're not playing. Key cogs in any successful teams, them sort of players.
Put either at their peak into current LFC team, and u would see a massive improvement in team.

Seeing the rumours of Barcola and Diomande and the huge costs associated - both for me are a big gamble.
I'd prefer to see us make an offer to West Ham to loan Jarrod Bowen for the season.
They'd get his salary off the books for the year plus a loan fee and we would have a Prem proven player, well placed to get his England place back.
Would like us to explore loan or free transfer options more than we do as the squad as very lean and we need to be creative in our attempts to add quality to the squad without blowing the budget given most decent players cost £50m plus.

Appreciate Artur, Sachin, Moses haven't been successful recent examples of recruitment via the loan market but I'm sure Bowen is more of a sure bet.

2

16 Jul 2026 16:23:38
Could be our first good loan signing since Stephen Caulker. I mean Nicolas Anelka.

16 Jul 2026 17:01:47
I'm so glad you are not our DOF, BobbyF!

16 Jul 2026 14:40:18
Not normally ITK but had this confirmed by multiple sources in the past 24 hours.

Football is not coming home.

26

16 Jul 2026 16:02:58
Looks like 1966 was the lot as far as England winning was concerned.

They think it's all over, it is now!

Btw is there a more pointless match than a 3rd/ 4th place playoff?

5

16 Jul 2026 16:11:08
Gammon on tour are now coming home, dressed as knights.

16 Jul 2026 16:13:00
Football moves fast. 10 ish days ago on here, Harry Kane was the greatest English striker of all time after his brace against DR Congo.

Last night he didn't touch ball. 😂

8

16 Jul 2026 16:32:44
True LFC8, a few days ago, Gomes was considered a great bit of business, now nobody is bothered he's not coming as he's not good enough or needed. 🤣🤣🤣

1

16 Jul 2026 16:43:58
Lfc8, tell me who is better than Kane for England. The man is a goal machine.

0

16 Jul 2026 16:52:40
And don't forget Jude LFC8...
Not seen anyone shed a tear for him today...

Maybe England's issue is that they lack BMT...

1

16 Jul 2026 17:39:38
King Kenny. Yes, there is a point to the 3rd/4th place match. 4th gets $27 million, 3rd gets $29 million. Those who run teams notice such things. 😉

0

16 Jul 2026 18:13:19
Just my opinion but If I was managing an international team coming up against England my pre-match team talk would go something like this: make my team watch Instagram reels of the England squad doing tictok dances and showing us all pictures of their diamond earrings and selfies with Drake - I'd follow that up with, if you get beat by this lot you'll never wear the shirt again and you'll be deported.

Missing the days when football was a men's game.

Don't have any social media but I'd imagine Simeone's son reels are of him wrestling bears, driving tanks and eating roadkill

16 Jul 2026 13:52:06
Connor Bradley is targeting a return to match day squads shortly after the start of the season, but the club is going to be cautious with it.

Looking to be back playing in Sept.

Let's hope he can get back fit and stay fit.

13

16 Jul 2026 14:57:28
I hope so, too.

1

16 Jul 2026 15:17:57
He deserves to. He's not the greatest defender, and he's a bit erratic, but he's decent going forward, he should improve under Iraola and has plenty of heart and commitment that far outweigh his limitations. He's a million light years ahead of that Frimpongadingdong in each and every department. I hope he has a good season.

0

16 Jul 2026 15:40:08
I love the kid, hopefully a full trouble free season and he's on his way.

4

16 Jul 2026 16:32:40
Connor averages 15 Premier games a season over the last three. I just can't see him playing more than that, particularly in an intense style of play. Connor should be the reserve, with a first choice ahead of him. Frimpong should be offloaded, he's not the right player for us on or off the pitch.
