What a time to be a red. If the kerkez and wirtz signings get over the line plus frimpong all but officialy confirmed it's turning very quickly into a great window before it has opened. I wonder dependent on sales if delap becomes an option to use off the bench, not a massive fan but would certainly offer a different option. I agree with a couple of others on here that Slot will look to have a PSG style front 3 with a Ramos type from the bench.

I have no info but my gut feel is that we make a serious attempt at one of Isak or Alvarez. I know it sounds unlikely but I get the impression the Wirtz deal is an opportunistic signing and will be separate from the plans that have been shaping up for a year.

I might also be totally wrong :)

I still honestly believe if Wirtz signs we will use a world class 10 in his world class position.

The Bobby false 9 role from 5-7 years ago not only linked up play but he created the space for Salah and Mane to run into behind.

Salah is no longer that player and Diaz/ Gakpo prefer the ball at their feet dribbling.

I see Wirtz as our KDB and linking the game from 2 thirds of the pitch.

I agree Pelican and JK, think if (hopeful if lol) we get Wirtz we use him as a proper number 10, Sobz drops back as an 8 and we get a striker in

Complete dreamland, but a window where we sign Wirtz, Frimpong and Kerkez is class but hell add Isak to that and holy sweet f*ck lol.

But in terms of opportunistic signings, I think we often think of cheap deals becoming available. I tend to think of it also being about the right player, personality, that they want to come etc and obvs money too.

Sees there are a lot of things in our favour on this one.

Alvarez and Wirtz would make this the best window ever. One or the other for me or neither actually come to think about it. Probably end up with Delap and Gordon.
