If we have money to bid for florian wirtz why aren't we using it instead on isak?

A window of buying isak, frimpong and hato will make us much stronger to retain the title next year.

What's everyone thoughts on it?

It looks likely Newcastle will get champions league and I think isak will stay then and lead into exciting times, whereas wirtz has done his time with leverkusan and probably an acknowledgement from leverkusan that he has done as much as he can for club and deserves move.

Agree. Isak is the best available by an absolute country mile.

Maybe it's because Isak wants to do what he originally said, about staying at Newcastle if they get CL football.

How long is this piece of string I'm holding?

Wirtz is available at the right price and will likely move this window.

Newcastle don’t want to sell and isak is not going to push for a move.

Most likely nether sign though so it’s irrelevant.

We may do, the transfer window hasn't even opened yet. I do see us spending big this summer so us signing Isak wouldn't surprise me in the least but he'll be getting offers from all over.

Mental that posters are complaining about the potential scenario where we sign Wirtz for mega bucks.

Usually the criticism is we don’t spend big money and we don’t go after big players.

Now we’re being linked with a player who has the the potential to be a future balon dor winner, and that’s not right either!

Sometimes I wonder if people would ever be happy.

I don’t think the narrative is we’ve bid but more held a conversation with him and his parents.

The in the knows seem to suggest that he wants to go Bayern and stay in Germany so it’s just a case of us testing the water.

It’s good that we are letting him know we are interested though.

Isak is an interesting player, obvious his qualities shown whilst playing at Newcastle as a #9.

His former club used him as a RW, which he was less accurate in front of goal than shown in uk, so they kept their #9 (Isak apparently expressed he wanted to be #9 to stay) .

It’s a funny old game.

Good call tho who could see what we see now at Newcastle.

Has Isak said he would stay if Newcastle secured CL football? Did I miss that?

OP @Nabeel, the question you have to ask yourself is why would Newcastle let Isak go at all (when they don't need to sell), they have CL footie (hence, a bigger need not to sell)? And even if they want to sell, they can just name their price which we may not be willing to pay? Cos if we were in their position, we wouldn't sell so why would they? And remember, the striker position right now is slim pickings, as well.

Oh, and why would we not have a go at an outstanding talent like Wirtz esp. if he and his camp have not ruled us out for his signature cos they ment with our guy? I think if there is any chance at all to get Xirtz, you take it and ask questions later.

Doesn’t Wirtz have a £30m but out?
Isak is £100m plus.

Ron, is it 30m? Ppl talking 100m for him. Idk either way.

More like 126m.

Edd001 what's wirtz fetching for if he goes to England? Can't imagine it's 30 million.

{Ed001's Note - it really is irrelevant.}

Yeah bad source on that £30m clause. He’ll cost a bundle.

Ironic that people seem to think we are going to ‘spend big’ for the past 10 months we’ve been told that the ineptly run club wouldn’t be signing anybody. Honestly, sometimes I just don’t know who or what to believe ….

firstly - we don't know the exact figures

secondly - we also don't know the specifics of the potential negotiations with the clubs. For instance, maybe Leverkusen are more open to dealing with us and newcastle aren't? or maybe leverkusen are flexible with partial payments but newcastle want upfront?

For me anyways, I always think it's better to stay out of the details cos we don't have enough info to even speculate.
