Hi Ed’s,

If Trent was to leave and we were to sign a new right back, what type of right back would you think Slot would sign in your opinion?

By the way I’m not dissing Bradley who I believe is going to have a great Liverpool career and looks very good.

Thx

Andy O.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. He has shown such flexibility in his tactics that it is difficult to know what he would want from a future full-back signing.}

Look at David hancko for feyenord Centre back who plays as a fullback who gets forward, I don't know if he wants that for liverpool but it will be interesting to see what his signings are like.

Would anyone else be happy if we just gave Bradley first choice with Gomez and Quansah as cover? Especially with the other promising academy full backs we have. I guess Gomez injury bad luck is the biggest concern with that solution. Hope Trent stays obviously but my gut tells me he fancies a crack at Madrid and I do not begrudge him it personally.

Beef - No, because Trent is a world class player whose quality impacts games just by terrifying the other team. Conor Bradley is fantastic and should be competing with Trent for that spot, but Trent is a proven, elite-level player. Just the sort of player you don’t sell or let go for free.

Bradley is a better defender and will only improve going forward. I have no issue with Trent going, it's just a shame we won't get a big fee.

I think people underrate Trent. The amount of times he can find a man with a long pass on either foot while being pressed by two players near his own box will be sorely missed.

He takes so much pressure of the back four when he does that against high pressing teams and is the only player who can do it. Van dijk is a good passer but he needs time and space, Trent can do it quickly on either foot.

People just look at Trent's one on one ability (which has improved) and thinks he's bad because of it.

Trent is also established and consistent. Bradley is still young and learning the ropes.

TAA is not only class, but he is regularly available. Unfortunately Bradley picks up a lot of niggles…if TAA moves on he will need replacing.

Completely agree with nevada. I've meant to respond with this very point for ages when treats defensive capabilities etc get scrutiny. Just too apathetic towards the nonsense I guess. But that's my genuine concern, over every other aspect to be honest. With a change at lb coming there's nothing stopping the club having a more attack minded lb then rb moving forwards but finding the replacement for trents press resistance is the issue definitely.

Trent missed quite a few games and it didn’t affect us. He is of course top class going forward but if we played Madrid in a final next week would you want Trent marking Vini or Bradley? Just a question.

I'd take trent all day every day.

Trent all day, every day. He makes teams sit way deeper, out of absolute fear.

We have no other player who can do that RB or otherwise.

In fact, I would say there is nobody left in the EPL who can do that, as De Bruyne appears to be shot. Possibly Europe.

Sorry, let us not get blinded here. Trent is one of the best footballers I have ever seen in all my years watching football, let alone LFC. His talent and ability on the ball alone is special. His ability to dictate play for such a deep role as RB roving into midfield, his ability to strike a ball and put it on a 6 pence off the ground or on the volley §0 yards across the pitch are immaculate.

Sorry and I love Bradley as he is just naturally gifted and technically sound on the ball and prolly a better defender (cos he is an actual defender) BUT he ain't Trent. He simply isn't. Trent is the guy as @Lowel said, you do not sell. Trent is a bit like Cafu who was good defensively BUT a RB who the oppo. had to worry about.

And if we have to play RM in a final, Im taking Trent all day (esp. with Konate next to him) cos he has the ability hurt RM, Bradley doesn't and we would still need Konate next to him, regardless. After all, RM want TAA for a several reasons, one of which is they won't have to play against him, IMO.
