Eds and Reds,
What would you do about the goalkeeper situation? Caoimhin has been a more than adequate stand in over the last few years, and understandably wants to play regularly. Ali isn't going to be back up to anyone, I get that too. I feel this is a similar situation to the one Chelsea had with Cech and Courtois.
{Ed001's Note - I would have sold Kelleher a couple of seasons ago. He is not as good as Alisson and deserves the chance to play regularly as a number 1. Plus his age is against him, as he is getting older and not getting the chance to progress. When he gets a run of games, he gets better and better, but that is just not going to happen with us.}

Best case scenario in my eyes is to loan Kelleher out next season to a decent club until Ali leaves then he comes back to fight for the first team spot with the new lad. I doubt this will happen like as we will probably get a decent offer for him in the summer and the club will take it. Its a shame though because he's proved himself to be a top keeper.

Still can’t understand how Southampton purchased Ramsdale and not Kelleher ?♂️.

I think the issue is ali's fitness and the huge chunks of seasons he misses. if that wasn't the case it's a no brainer, Ali is 1st choice for next 3 r so years. But with ali missing so many games your no.2 has to be as good as no.1 as he plays so many games and u won't get a good keeper to do that like we are seeing now.
With a heavy heart I think I would sell ali in summer, solely due to his injuries, and promote kelleher to no.1. I think kelleher has proven he's the temperament for it and will only get better with being no.1.

I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision Digger but I do think we are being blinded by the fact that Kelleher is freshest in our minds at the moment.
We forget just how good Ali is because he hasn’t played for a while and start making statements about Kelleher ousting him. I’ve done the same but when I think about it Ali is simply the best keeper in the world.
Could we really sell him based on seeing Kelleher in the first team for a couple of months after Ali’s been doing it for years?
Don’t get me wrong I think Kelleher is an amazing goalkeeper but Ali is the best. Like I said I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision and I’d guess the decision won’t be made just by looking at what’s happened on the pitch. It will depend largely on what their future plans are too.
I’d try to get Ali to sign a new contract and if he refuses then we know he’s leaving after next season so we can transition Kelleher in to the number 1 spot and sell Ali. If Ali signs then give Kelleher his move.

Kelleher will end up at Bayern! I love the love in for Ali he’s off the charts good but age and injuries I’d be leaving Kelleher as no.1 he’s better with his feet and has less mistakes from what I see!
He’s not played a games in 2 season were we cried for Ali back in the sticks!

Kelleher whilst good is not at Ali’s level. For example his passing can be a bit uneven in terms of weight and his positioning is not as good (something that should improve as he plays more) . I’m glad we have him as a backup but imho Ali will be one day voted as our best ever gk (even better than clemence which is something I never thought I’d say)

Surely Kelleher would be a good fit for Newcastle as Pope is bang average.
