Edd001 who would you partner alongside big virg. I'm just not convinced on konate yet. Judgement of the ball can be lacking. I'd love gomez to get a run of games again with virg.

{Ed001's Note - well Konate is out anyway so it is either Matip or Gomez. Personally I would go with Gomez, he was excellent for us before he got injured but it will be Matip. Klopp likes his ability on the ball.}

I think against a Fulham side we are expected to dominate possession I’d say matip is our best bet.

Matip had a good season he should keep the place alongside Virgil and Gomez should be fighting to take it back. Anyways whoever starts we have 4 brilliant CBs.

Gomez needs a run of games at first team level to get himself fully back up to speed and to his top quality self.

Unfortunately is he going to get a consecutive run of games if there’s no injuries as I actually see Matip starting today also?

If Klopp wants Gomez to be a starter this season then why not throw him in against Fulham on day 1. We’ve got a decent run of fixtures including Utd and Everton up until Chelsea in Sep. Could be a great run of games for him.

Klopp must like Matip’s ability to mistime headers, be outmuscled by most, overrun the ball, leave holes in defence with his uncontrolled mazy runs, provide minimal cover to our most attacking wing back and throw himself into mistimed tackles exposing our defence with his lack of recovery pace. Gomez and VVD were amazing when we won the league and need to be together again.

Matip over Gomez for me any day. Gomez hasn't been in form in years and Maria has arguably been our best centre back. Not even a debate for me on this one. Gomez 4th choice when all fit.
