BBC website is doing a combined City-LFC 11.

I have three city players - Dias, De Bruyne and Haaland.

I went with thiago and Fabs in MF, GK and Defense picks itself, and then Diaz and Salah up top.

Not biased at all there, Stuie!

Think bernado silva would have to start no matter how much we may dislike him!

Cancelo over AR on the left? ?.

Only slightly Rome. The Jurgenator - I was a little torn on that one, but IMO Robbo pips it.

I think it goes

Ali
Trent Diaz VVD Cancelo
Fabinho silva KDB
Salah Haaland Dias

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - are you the 12th man?}

The team that won the League only has 3 players compared to the team that came second ??.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair mate, having the better individual players isn't the big advantage City have. It is that they have 22 players of pretty much the same quality so can continously rotate, rest and refresh, which makes the difference over the course of a long, hard season.}

IR - I would argue we have the better first 11. Cancelo and Robbo are very close and on the day, I would rather have a fit Thiago than Silva. It's a game of opinions, feel free to add one at any point.

AC Milan had the best starting XI in the land during the 2000’s and only had a couple of league titles to show for it. Nobody would dispute the quality of those players, would they?

Stuie I would argue that City have a superior group of 17 players but Liverpool have had slightly better depth but the quality of our main 17/ 18 players doesn't match City's. I also think we wax lyrical about our players to the demise of other teams. For me I think KDB, Cancelo, Laporte, Silva would certainly enhance Liverpool. I also think Rodri is an extremely good player. I didn't add Haaland because who knows, he MIGHT be a duffer as might our Darwin.

How does some people have Cancelo over Robbo his a right back that does not start at right back because they pick Walker over him. If they get the lad from Brighton he will play left back.

Both sides are loaded with quality players. City fans no doubts will lean towards their players and we lean towards ours.

I’m sure the neutrals would have their own opinion but a lot of neutrals would probably avoid picking LFC players out of spite due to them not liking the arrogance of Liverpool supporters.

But the proof is in the pudding over the last 4-5 years both teams might not have won everything all the time but they competed to win everything and when they didn’t win they didn’t fall far short.

Interesting that Foden, Grealish and Phillips aren’t getting a mention - these are the lads who will be leading us to WC glory at Christmas!

Haha yes indeed, Ed001.

Haaland as the out and out striker and Red Sandman as the out and out and out striker to hang on the goalkeeper!

I'd go with Alisson - Trent, Diaz, VVD, Robertson - Fabinho, Gundogan, DeBruyne - Salah, Haaland, Dias.

The question is not whether Thiago or Silva are better players than Gundogan. They are. Tactically, I prefer a player who can play defensively (if needed) next to Fabinho given that DeBruyne is so offensive.

WDW I sincerely hope there will be no World Cup glory for that English team full of diving cheats who could not play attractive or exciting football if they even bothered trying or had a manager who believed in it. I will support England again once Kane Sterling Grealish Foden Walker Maguire and Pickford all retire. Hopefully Curtis Jones or Harvey Elliot will still be playing for them then. Haven’t decided who to support yet? Any ideas?

ScouseNouse. When I read "attractive and exciting football", I immediately thought that I would recommend you follow Brazil. And then I saw you wanted no "cheats" and cheating.

I think you just have to stop watching football, LOL. Cheating is everywhere.

@ScouseNouse, we will make the quarter finals based on a plan not to lose rather than win and then from the QF onwards our plan will be hoping to win penalty shoot-outs.

With the footballing genius we have managing the team we’d struggle to win it if we were the only team entered in it.

The brave Lions will go out in the second round despite qualifying from the group stage with two gritty 0-0 draws and a hard-fought 1-0 victory. The luck will not be with the heroic English as they defend resolutely against a resurgent Portugese outfit. Old Man Ronny will slot home the only goal of the game early on (a contentious penalty after Fernandes sheds tears in the vicinity of the referee) and England will fight like Churchill’s Best, backs to the wall, for the next 89 minutes, trying to bring it home for Blighty. Sadly, it ends in despair as Grealish, with the goal at his mercy, is slide-tackled by Kane in a vain attempt to increase his international goal record and the ball rolls out out for a throw-in. The hopes of a nation are shattered again but OBEs are handed out left, right and centre, and every tabloid prints a cut-out celebratory cardboard waistcoat so Southgate’s nearlymen may never be forgotten.
