Eds,

Teams are often judged on performance on how they do against their budget ( total of annual net spend and wages ) .

How has Klopp compared against his rivals over the last few years on that basis as from the outside looking in he must be near if not too if that in terms of over achieving consistently every season which stresses how great the news was he extended by another 2 years .

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry, I have absolutely no idea about that.}

I’m not 100% sure but reports online suggest out of the what’s classified as the top 6 (Us, Spurs, City, Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal) we have the 4th highest wage bill and then with regards to the last 5 years net spend we are 6th but you can then throw in teams like Villa, Everton and Newcastle who all have a reported bigger net spend than us. We have a 6 mill higher spend than Wolves and 3 mill more than West Ham.

There's probably another way to look at it - the strike rate. If you look at Klopp (and recruitment team) over the past 6 years you have to say the strike rate has been better than most, if not the best in the PL.

Whilst things did not work out for Grujic, Karius and (debatable) Naby Keita, most Klopp signings have contributed to the progression over the last 6 seasons.

You could argue to include Klavan and Adrian in that but I think that would be harsh.

Some may also argue that Thiago hasn't delivered enough for us so far. On one hand, when he plays, we control games better and almost always win. We have not lost a PL game with Fab-Thiago in the side. However, on the other hand he has had his share of injury issues and critically the timing of those injuries have been really quite significant (he missed 3 of the 4 games against Chelsea, missed the home game vs City, the away game at Spurs and was clearly not 100% fit against Real Madrid) .

{Ed077's Note - how is Keita debatable as a bad signing. He is up there as one of the worst signings in the league since he joined. He was signed for first eleven starter money, and yet would struggle to even be the first choice backup for the CMs for me.

Cheers Ed .

In terms of over achieving on the basis above Klopp must be top with him finishing always in top 3 last few seasons and winning trophies also .

Others potentially in the mix West Ham , Brighton, Leicester and Burnley (up till this season obviously) .

Worst must be Everton and Man Utd I would expect .

{Ed001's Note - I would expect you to be right, but it is difficult to be sure and a lot depends on how you judge it. I mean what value do you put per point gained?}

Reporte 30m or higher for him, I would rip their arm off lol he has been terrible for the money paid.

We all thought we were getting this dynamic box to box midfielder who would chip in with lots of goals and assists - he's looked good in games but then often another injury, time out and regressed again, plays a few looks good in a game then another niggle injury and the cycle continues

I'd sell him and Ox, money would bring in someone decent that could challenge Hendo, Fab and Thiago for a starting birth. Say 30m for him and 15m for the Ox could get us someone solid alright couldn't it?

Over the last 2 seasons Hendo has only played 11 more games than Thiago in the League and CL combined.

So on average Hendo is available for 5 and a half more games a season.

Brentford. When you compare everything, they’ve probably had the best season.

OP, Over he past 6 full seasons/ years, Klopp and his team have NOT finished lower than 4th with 3 CL finals to boot and winning the whole lot within that time period. There's your answer, IMO.

Ed077 - I put debatable in there because people debate it. He’s definitely not the worst signing in PL history. I can name 50 worse signings for “starter money” - half of them by United LOL.

Naby’s been fit this season. That’s an improvement to start with. When he’s played he’s done ok without being a standout performer. Agree that he’s not lived up to his billing at all. He has contributed to the team this season.

{Ed077's Note - "one of the" & "since he joined". I didn't say definitely the worst. You guys can try to dress it up all you want but Keita has been a horrible signing. Been fit this season and done OK when playing. That's the gold standard for you guys? Really?

I don’t think anyone, even our bitterest rivals, wouldn’t agree that Klopp is a brilliant manager, who has over achieved with resources available, and would want him at their own club. It’s not even a debate. Fact is though, no matter what metric you try find to prove that Klopp is the best, managers are judged on one thing only. Trophies. Mostly- league titles. If Klopp’s legacy is to live on, we need a couple more of those in the next 5 years.

The only significant big money signing that's been a failure is Keita. And that was cheaper than the likes of Pogba, Maguire and Lukaku. Almost a Fred like for like. Klopp and the recruitment team have done a phenomenal job. Perhaps overpaid but they almost always got the right players. Players below 10 mil being a failure can be expected. At that price its always a gamble. City have paid Keita like money for a host of defenders one of which is suspended atm. As bad as Keita has been he has been a minimal part of winning 6 trophies. Certainly not 1 of the worst in the league.

Keita is a flop. Don’t worry though, I am sure whoever collates the BBC’s Gossip page is a Man U fan, when we come so close to the quad, and the next week the headlines are that our rivals are all strengthening whilst Mane wants to leave, Salah wants to play for a prem rival, and LFC want to offer a new contract to Keita, all on the same day. Surely it’s trolling!

Keita looks like a world beater when you compare him to Pogba 🤣🤣. Utd have had their pants pulled down twice by the same guy. Sold for £800,000 and purchased for £90 million and then leaves on a free 🤔.
So yeah, Keita has been pretty much a disaster but everything in perspective i say.

Interesting that it looks like Naby is going to get his contract extended, given the disaster he apparently is according to many on here. Hmmm. What do we know?

I agree with ed077, " KITE-A " should "FLY" away as far as possible from Anfield.

P. S. ed077 please make sure you always put two number sevens in your ed number, as if ye don't and put two zeros instead people will think it's me instead, i have no plans to undermine you. Thank You!

{Ed077's Note - actually there is already an Ed007, he's been on for years.

Also folks Utd making transfer howlers doesn't make Keita a good signing. He's one ofbthe most expensive players in your squad, and definetly the most expensive CM in your team yet doesn't warrant a regular spot on the bench let alone starting XI. And the team winning the trophies doesn't automatically make any transfer a success. For example: Phil Jones has won all the domestic trophies and a Europa league, but has been a bad signing for us.
