Anti climax to what could have been a history making season. Still proud the boys took it to the last game and won the FA Cup alongside the Carabao Cup. But if we are being truly honest with ourselves there are no prizes for a second place finish in the League and runners up place in the Champions League and all in all it was a underwhelming end to the season. Yes, there has to be a winner and a loser in a cup final but it's the manner in which we lost the Championship League Final. Without scoring in normal time, which incidentally happened in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals, with the only difference being we won those two on penalties.

I have been saying for a while now that our midfield is 'stale', for lack of a better word and is certainly our weak area in the team. Fab screens the defence and is world class at his job. But out of Hendo and Thaigo none of them break forward and play in that hole that connects the midfield to the forwards. Often it's like the midfield and forwards operate as two separate units. Rewatch yesterdays match and look at the gaps that were left between the midfield and forwards. It's not just yesterdays match but has happened often in games this season. I think, although he is just a youngster that Carvalho will help in this area. As he plays that false 9, 10 role but a box to box midfielder is certainly required, especially with Hendo's influence on games dwindling. It looks like Tchouaméni is on his way to Madrid, which is a shame as he is that box to box player we need. However, until I see him in a Madrid jersey than there is still hope.

Now to the forwards. This is a controversial area to tackle because many people hold sentiment for the forwards with some happy to keep all our forwards despite age etc. Let me start by saying Bobby, Mane and Salah have been great servants. However, with all factors considered - age, length of contract left, evolution of the squad, finances to facilitate a rebuild that Klopp wants. Something has to give as not all of them can stay on those factors alone, not to mention the forward line needs revamping anyways. It appears Mane is possibly leaving and I wishing him all the best. To be honest Bobby can also go for me and again, I would wish him all the best.

Salah is a weird one for me. His dip in form is now quite worrying but equally he has played so many games, lost the AFCON final to Senegal and missed out on qualifying for what might be his last chance of playing in a World Cup. Maybe with a good holiday, break away from things and his contract sorted he could easily return to his best next season. On the other hand I wouldn't be opposed to him going if that's what he wants. But his contract needs to be sorted this summer one way or another. If he signs then I would move on Bobby and with Mane appearing to be on the verge of Joining Bayern. Bowen would be one the first player I would bring in. We wanted him before so obviously Klopp and the staff saw something in him. Seems a humble boy and is a grafter to go along with being a class player who can weigh in with his fair share of goals. Nunez would be the other player I would go for. I have to admit I was a bit slow on catching on to him until a lot of people here started to mention his name. But I have since watched him a lot, albeit on YouTube and he is young, pacy, grafter, hungry, although a little raw but Klopp and the staff can mould him and he offers that something different in that he is quite tall.

It is probably Klopp's biggest summer transfer since he has been here as there are a lot of players to move on and bring in and will be interested to see how we go about it. Only thing I ask for is that the club fully back him in the transfer market.

Can't argue with any of that mate, I would also add Klopp needs to think about a different way of playing it seems a times we are banging the same drum and teams are nullifying us to easily.

{Ed001's Note - except we create enough chances in every match, the problem is always not finishing them off.}

Yeah it really is as simple as finishing. We manage every single game to create so many good chance its unbelievable, even during the nightmare run of last season we still created wnligh chances to win every game.

We entered 4 competitions, won two and second in two now it seems that some pasters have panicked and feel that Klopp needs to change his approach.
