I had a very brief moment of depression that happened a few months ago. For about five months I was waking up at 3 in the morning worrying about life's problems. Constantly anxious and agitated. Completely unlike my normal self. Speaking to a doctor early gave me the clarity I needed to make some changes before things got bad. I'm so happy I caught it early thanks to my amazing wife's encouragement (an even unluckier woman than the one we spoke about earlier Ed😀)

Never in a million years did I think that could happen to me. Couldn t even fathom it. I was an absolute fool to think that. Sometimes life just gets a bit complicated and it can bring you down out of nowhere. No one is immune. Not even the highest paid successful people.

I applaud people like Calvert-Lewin and other sports people for high-lighting the issue and normalizing it. I really do encourage anyone here suffering to just contact your doctor. It gets better once the first step is made.

Also, my doctor was not in the least bit surprised when I came to her. She said she gets plenty of cases. It's like any other sickness. You just got to treat it.

3 months on and it's like a 360. Couldn't be happier.

{Ed001's Note - well said Davey, it is something that can hit you out of nowhere and it doesn't matter if you are the richest or the poorest person on earth. Glad you got the help you needed, most are not so lucky. In some respects the likes of Calvert-Lewin have less of that help than the poorest, as most people around them are just sycophants looking to help them spend their money, rather than genuine friends. So I don't agree when people try to trivialise their problems by saying they are ok as they have money. Sometimes money can be a huge part of the problem.}

Absolutely agree Ed. Anything could cause it. For me, I just needed to drop a level in job to focus on family stuff and boom. Takes a little time once issue is fixed to come out of it but was fairly quick for me.

Everyone has different issues that may take longer. And I might be a minor case. But I know one thing, if I didn't talk to someone, I would never have made the changes. To have that support of professionals gives you courage to make the changes neccessary.

Well said Davey. I've suffered with depression on and off for years. I'm actually doing well at the moment but as eds said it can hit you at any time and it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor. You never know what battles people are going through. That's why I always try and be super nice to everyone.

Again completely agree Marty. Life can throw hard things to deal with sometimes and anybody can be dealing with something major so I agree with you whole heartedly. Glad things are going well and hope they stay that good. starting with a champs league win on Saturday!

I second Davey's point. August 2019 i found out my fiancee and mother of my child was cheating on me. Absolutely devastating.

I lost over a stone in weight and was sleeping about 2-3 hours a night at best. February 2021 i decided enough was enough. Went to my GP and was diagnosed with a very bad case of anxiety. Medication helped give me the kick to get back out there. Started eating better, sleeping longer and even took up football again (which in turn as given me a support network of at least 10 really good friends) .

To all the men out there embarrassed to seek help, don't be. The worst funeral I've ever attended was a man in his early 50's who committed suicide. His girlfriend and kids didn't even know he was struggling and his eldest sons cry will haunt me as long as i walk this earth. Don't let that be your family.
