great that city dropped points
but i also just realise AV needs to play 2 matches in 3 days
against Burnley who may still have a chance to stay up if Everton don't win today

seems very unlikely that AV will have the legs to match a City at home, with 1 week's rest and a very clear goal

seems extremely unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

Do you forget that Gerrard is Villa manager? He's going to do everything humanly possible to make City drop points.

It does sound bonkers to even dream of Villa getting something at the Etihad, but we do have to remember that United were seconds away from winning the league in 2012 thanks to QPR doing exactly that!

A draw from Villa against ManC is all we need. And winning our 2 games. Then it's ours.

Maybe, just maybe the reverse will happen this time. Football is weird and while there is hope we have to keep believing.

Deep down we probably all expect city to whack them for 6 but luckily a game isn't decided before a ball is kicked so you just never know. But beat Southampton and the league goes to the final day, from where we were at Christmas, you can't ask for much more then that.

I must admit a part of me wanted City to win 5-0 today so we could just concentrate on Real.

We go again Tuesday. No problem.
I would still be tempted to use squad against Southampton. They might just be in holiday mode after Leeds didn’t win - guaranteed to stay up now.

Are you all forgetting Watkins and Ings gave VVD and Konate and very tough game last week and they are one of the best defensive partnerships in the league. They will be against an unfit Laporte and 40 year old midfielder Fernandinho at Centre back. Plus Pipco owes us one for the way he left and Gerrard never won the league at Liverpool he’d love to get something at City to win is the league.
This is far from over you know.

I think our squad can do the job
And most likely gd won’t make a difference now
So let’s jus focus on winning both games and see where we end.

That's it WYred, beat Southampton and the league goes fown to the last day of the season. Don't think many even on here thought we'd run it that close at Christmas

And whatever happens, to even get this far is fantastic. What a season, but how unreal would it be if luck went our way eh? Great season though no matter what.

We need to beat Southampton. One game at a time, Redmen.
We don't need favours from other sides. If we finish second, it's not because of Aston Villa.

{Ed0666's Note - damn right it’s because we let brentford score in injury time and we failed to beat Brighton from a 2 goal advantage etc etc

Absolutely spot on Rigsby.

We need to beat Southampton - that’s all that matters.

Where we are and what we achieve is down to us.

Bill, I thought the league was done at Christmas, but we have been consistent and picked up points when city didn’t. Whatever happens now they can be proud that they got this close to a team that is operating in cheat mode.

I thought City weren't going to drop any more points this season?

I so like the sound of that. "I thought City were not going to drop any more points this season"? 😂

(Eds, help. There's an echo in this chat room) .

I thought so too, Flash. Could it be that footie is NOT an exact science after all? I wonder.

Before we get carried away with the “I thought City weren’t going to drop points again” we’re right you’re wrong brigade. Let’s not forget 2 weeks ago we also dropped points.

Agree w you Ed 0666
I believe we have the best team and squad
And we threw away too many leads, including 2 goal leads
So it more of us handing the title to city than they have been dominant or whatever people in media want to drum up

Still, nothing is over and we may just nick it if they screw up

How I feel about it! Damn proud
We are running city so close and can even say we handed them the title though we don’t have the resource they have.

{Ed0666's Note - yes but they dont have JK mate. He’s a generational talent. How many people can inspire so many around him to greatness? The man is a born politician..I’d vote for him in a heartbeat. I would rather someone who gets our club, our DNA, our history & heritage than someone like Pep who I like a lot but let’s face it but he’s a mercenary. Despite all their wealth and to get close as we did to them Im immensely proud.
