My favourite stat from yesterday, Allan completed two passes, both from kick off.

I know the game was incredibly frustrating yesterday particularly first half but its how they had to play to get something, or try to from the game. If they tried to play football they would of been hit by a huge scoreline. They had a game plan and stuck to it.

Gordon made a rod for his own back yesterday. if he doesn't dive first half, he probably gets it second half. Hopefully a harsh lesson for him as he has a good attitude other then that. And did well to keep composed spending most of the game on a yellow. I have also seen it mentioned that he felt contact so went down, I have no idea how to get it out the game but it needs to and that isn't just Gordon that's across the board.

Richarlison has to be the most infuriating footballer to watch, the one where he headed the ball, ran 10m then dropped being the worse instance.

I still hope they don't go down, I wouldn't want to wish that on anyone really but the hierarchy have put Everton in this position. They had a higher spend and a higher net spend then us with more players costing over 25m over the last few years!

The money has been utterly wasted and if they do drop it has nothing to do with Rafa (they got off to a flyer don't forget, 14 points in the first 7) or even lamps it's the decision making for the last few years that has caused this and as always its the fans caught up in the poo storm!

I don’t get the love for Gordon, what’s he good at exactly? I only saw him run fast in a straight line and fall over yesterday. Don’t think he played any actual football.

Than! - It’s a lovely word. Could we all look it up and start using it again, please? 😂

Absolutely agree with everything else WY. It’s similar to Man Utd, all that money spent but not even the building blocks of a team in place. Scandalous!

Nice one, WYRed. 1985mikey1985, I fully agree BUT the media always has to try to "even things out" by bigging up a player who like you said, just ran in a straight line and cheated. It's what they do.

The thing about Gordon was he was their only outlet and the only one that seemed to care for the badge.

Having quality is one thing but having the heart and desire to do something with what you have is another. Take Henderson and balotelli as the two polar opposites of this.

I am not saying for a second that he will be a world beater, but in a team that has had 500m spent on it, he was the one that stood above the rest. He obviously needs to work on the diving, he did it in the opposite fixture too. But I think he has potential.

I agree Oli. And they always have to pick on one incident so they can say Liverpool won but only because Everton were denied ‘stonewall penalty’ or Watford ‘should’ve scored’ before Liverpool got the first.
I guarantee if that had been at the other end and we didn’t get the penalty Carra would be saying there wasn’t enough in it for a penalty.
It’s the media being the media trying to create a narrative that doesn’t exist.

Beckers, you have clocked it. If you understand "Bothsider-ism" in political media, you will understand that it happens in football media as well cos the goal is to reduce the quality and accomplishments of one side, in order to raise the lack of quality of the other side, into relevance.

As for Carra again, it is the same ploy. In this scenario if Neville or Campbell had said Everton deserved a pen on the Gordon incident, very few people will take it seriously cos they will deduce that both are biased against LFC. But in your scenario, Sky makes sure Carra says such a thing cos then, he can't be blamed for being biased against LFC cos well, he played here so he must be telling the truth. See how the it works? Sometimes, it's not WHAT is said but rather WHO is saying it in order to create a narrative that does not exist, as you said.

The sad thing is Oli it works. You’ve got all rival fans trying to find a reason to belittle the accomplishments of other teams and when someone like Carra says stonewall pen they all say ‘it was definitely a pen because even Carra said so’ without even taking the incident in to account.
So many fans are just sheep who blurt out the nonsense that Carra and Neville say in particular as if it were fact. In actual fact those 2 are the most clueless football pundits I can remember, obviously there to create controversy which in turn creates activity on all Sky’s media outlets. It’s shameful but like I said it works unfortunately.

{Ed0666's Note - there’s many a pundit saying it wasn’t a penalty so what makes Carras opinion the authoritative one?

Wyred- The head of an Everton support group argued the point that we are Liverpool and the likes of Salah and Mane will come to us all day therefore Everton has to spend over the odds. I think he forgets we sign players from the likes of Southampton, Roma, Wolves etc (no disrespect to those clubs) then developed them into the players they are today. Sounds like more sour grapes.

{Ed0666's Note - didn’t we take a player from a relegated Hull City & make him into the best left wing back in world football? Don’t these people do any research? Did we buy Tsimikas from Real Madrid? Did we buy Diaz from Barcelona? Salah wasn’t decorated in trophies and glory when we bought him in fact the consensus was we overpaid. Same with Mane…it’s just utter tripe! The only ready made world class players we have bought in a long long time is Thiago, and possibly VVD/Alison

Spot on, Beckers. Ed666, you are missing the point here, IMO. The goal is not to convince the majority or make Carra's opinion more authoritative. The goal is to feed a narrative that belittles our accomplishments in the game or even in this season, by saying like "Were it not for the ref's, LFC would not have wo n this or that" and then, big up Everton for "playing well" by reducing wretched output to ONE incident. whereas they were absolutely dreadful ALL game long. Thiago outpassed the whole Everton team YET they "played well" cos they nearly got a pen, yeah?

Look at our mano y mano vs City. City dropped potentially 13 points to get their lead down to 1 point. Do you hear or have you heard anyone in the media call them bottlers, losers etc.? Has anyone accused them of bricking it? Have you heard anyone slam or held Pep to account for overseeing such a meltdown cos I haven't? I bet you we would be called every name in the book and Klopp would have being raked over the coals for overseeing such a collapse for weeks. See how media propaganda works?

{Ed0666's Note - personally I think you’re intellectualizing the situation too much. The majority of the media are eulogizing about us and saying what a great Liverpool team this is the best ever Liverpool team in fact. City will always get plaudits and if they aren’t getting any detractors then don’t let it worry you. The fact is we should have drawn against Leicester beaten Brighton and Brentford and we’d be 3 points ahead with a superior goal difference and the title in our own destiny. But we are where we are..let’s not get bogged down into siege mentality we’re better than that. If city win the title they deserve it..simple not because the media pundits had a pro city bias or an anti Liverpool one.

Exactly Ed but that’s why they get Carra to say it so as to create controversy. It’s so blatant but some cling onto it as fact and a stick to beat us with.
I see you are getting some grief on the bitters page? Keep it up they deserve all the banter they get after their showing yesterday 🤣.

{Ed002's Note - Sky do not tell commentators what to say.}

I wouldn’t be so sure on that Ed2. They might not actually script the words for them but they will certainly tell them to be controversial as it gets clicks.
Look at Adrian Durham on Talk Sport, he’s a complete wind up merchant but I bet his show gets more public interaction than any other which is why he still has a job even though he talks utter rubbish 99% of the time.

{Ed002's Note - you clearly know nothing about it at all. Embarrassing.}

Ed Triple 6, I don't have a siege mentality neither do I believe such a thing. Cos I see some unfairness in the media coverage and am calling it out, does not mean I'm bogged down by it nor am worried about it nor intellectualizing things too much, IMO. I just see how one side's achievements get overblown while their failures are either whispered or not mentioned at all hence, I got to call it out. That's it.

If either team wins the PL this season, said team would have deserved it and Im fine with that cos if anything, Liverpool were supposed to finish 4th or 5th per the "experts" in the media. As for us not being top right now thru this or that or those draws or losses, City could say the same thing as well so to me, that's a wash in the end. On a side note and as a fellow intellectual (lol), your comments are very much err, what's that word again? Ah yes, Intellectualized. Peace and Love, my brother.

{Ed0666's Note - no worries mate it’s all love…yes city blew a big lead but we had two games in hand so the lead wasn’t insurmountable. We also lost games from winning positions that should have afforded us a lead over City, but the media haven’t besmirched us about that I don’t think. Having said that the ‘Football media’ have a bias that’s a given and most of the time it won’t be palatable for us liverpool fans but makes winning trophies even sweeter. There’s very few pundits opinion I have any regard for Graham Souness, Peter Drury, Arlo White, Rebecca Lowe I think being the only ones. In my opinion The rest talk absolute bunkum and are just noise! Enjoy the game tommorow my friend.
