I’d say Reina, Agger, Mascherano, Gerrard, Kuyt and Torres would be a shout for the squad for the match on Tuesday, although probably only Agger and Gerrard would be likely starters.

Torres Gerrard would be straight in the team. Mascherano and Agger would be pushing and would be a great players in the squad as for Kuyt nowhere near good enough Kuyt over Salah Mane Diaz Bobby or Jota think he would get less game time than Origi.

I'd likely agree.
Only caveat is that team was "Gerrard and Torres + 9" while this one is "Klopp's 11".
So Gerrard would need to be much more of a team and not individual performer.

Nah that's out of order Grino 😂 the Origi comment is an absolute insult. Kuyt was probably the first name on the team sheet for Rafa. Origi isn't even on the bench when everyone is fit.

I don't know about a combined XI. It's not really a fair comparison because Rafa and Klopp play completely differently. Not to mention that by 2010 that team was really struggling due to Alonso leaving. On top of that Gerrard, Torres and Agger were really struggling for form and fitness. All i know is that in his day Kuyt was our 3rd best attacker after Gerrard and Torres, when we were regularly in the Champions League last 4. He scored 71 goals in 286 games. A 1 in 4 record despite playing in some very poor teams in the last few years when many others abandoned us. He was also mostly playing out of position in right midfield in his early years because nobody else wanted to do the dirty defensive work Rafa asks of his wide players.

I won't hear a bad word said about Dirk Kuyt. He eould not look out of place in the current squad and would definitely rack up at least as many minutes as Firmino. He scored double figures for us every year except his final season. In his last season he still basically won us the League Cup final with his ET goal and then converting in the penalty shootout. I don't care whether you want him in a combined squad or starting XI, but putting him below a fringe player and saying "nowhere near good enough" is not on mate. Kuyt is as close to a legend as anyone who Rafa signed for us. He gave us everything.

{Ed0666's Note - I’d subscribe to the notion that Kuyt would get a decent amount of playing time for us. I was at Anfield for his home debut and thinking this guys a player! Excellent work rate coupled with big big goals

Gerrard gets in ahead of Hendo.
Carragher ahead of Matip

That’s it for me for the starters.
Not worth mentioning the bench, that bench is shocking. I remember that team having no depth at all.
