Poor game and played out like most early kick offs with us, such slow play every player standing still for 2 seconds or longer upon receiving the ball and lack of urgency. Blazing shots over the bar get your shot on target or don’t bother! Absolutely zero cohesion because of changes and quite possibly our worst performance of the season. We got the win and need to be so much better on Tuesday. We are a different beast in the champions league.

To me it looked like we never got out of 1st gear but still got the win which is the signs of a top class side. Thiago was excellent in the middle and it was great to see Joe get the assist.

Biggest worry for me is Mo. He seems to be our least in form forward of the 5 and we need him at his world class best against City and theother big matches coming up.

Nice to see Jota stinking up the place with another goal.

In fairness it has been international break last 14 days, which always is a disruptive force on our preparations. Win is a win at the end of the day.

We can’t keep playing so badly and winning can we? Can’t remember last time I watched us play really well. Jones, Salah and Robertson weren’t on it. Bobby was awesome, Jota scored and assisted and is prob first name on the team sheet these days right Ed0666? Thiago was decent but always has a mistake in him. Defence was pretty solid.

{Ed0666's Note - No one covered themselves in glory. I thought Gomez was the best of a bad bunch seeing as he was played out of position and hasn’t got any rhythm. He was caught floundering in defense a few times but again he has mitigation. To be honest they all do international break, lethargy from international games, jet-lag blah blah blah. Let’s not underestimate what a pain in the penis playing at 12.30 is either. Anfield was like a proverbial library for 92 minutes and the fans didn’t do their job today. We won’t play that badly again this season I’m sure of it.

We weren't at our breath taking best that's for sure.

I thought Bobby and Thiago had a good first half, but the second almost just slowed down with both teams almost accepting that we were going to end up winning 2-0.

Diogo’s movement in to the box off that left for me is why I’d personally have him there instead of in a central role and mould Diaz in to the number 9.

Don’t want to give the lad stick as he wasn’t the only one who wasn’t great today, but I feel that Jones dithers on the ball too much and takes too many touches.

3 points the most important thing! Bring on Benfica.

I think people need to reevaluate what they expect from the lads On a Weekly basis. We’re literally up for a quadruple, winning games in lower gear is sensible we can’t smash teams week in week out. We need to work on improving the sloppiness at times but overall a wins a win and it’s great doing it without expending too much energy.

I didn’t think that anyone in red had a poor game even if, Thiago apart, no one stood out particularly.
Watford impressed me actually, pressed and defended well and made for a competitive game.
They didn’t look like relegation candidates.

Seriously I don't know how we are getting away with it. We are constantly letting teams through the defence and even getting into 1 v 1 with the keeper, and yet we are unbeaten in 10 in the league. If we are to win this title we need to sort this out.

They had two clear chances the entire game, our world class keeper did what he does best for one and they missed the other. It is unrealistic to expect us to give up no chances every game. It is also the nature of being such a strong team - opposition do not fancy their chances going toe to toe with us so sit deep and play on the counter. There will always be moments but overall we did well, never got out of second gear, got a clean sheet and scored two goals, I’m not sure why everyone’s so down on the game. Did we play at our fluent best? No. Did we’ve we really need to? No. It’s the sign of a top team, playing at a mediocre level and still having more than enough to beat the opposition.

As I've already said elsewhere on this site - it doesn't mater if we don't play well as long as we win. Again, I couldn't care less if the link up play is poor, passes don't reach their intended target etc., if we score more goals than the opposition, that's all I'm interested in, even if I'd paid £65 or even £800 for a ticket, which I wouldn't because that's stupid.

I seriously cannot remember too many games of football where a team does not create at least one chance against the opposition.

But we are expected to prevent the opposition from having a goal scoring opportunity every game? Or we are considered weak defensively, or letting teams through on goal. I mean, come on, these guys are playing their hearts out and the clean sheets we are keeping is phenomenal. Let’s give credit where credit’s due and leave the unwarranted defensive critique to the guys that matter.

I don’t understand this notion that we have to be at our best every time. It’s a bar NO team on earth can meet yet it is the bar being used to judge this brilliant team. If you need to play well everytime just to win then, you end up with LFC circa 2016/ 18 where we were the great entertainers with nothing to show for it. I know which one I would pick.

At this point of the season with immortality beckoning, you manage games and see out the win. Playing well? Err, News flash: Liverpool play some of the best footie the world has ever seen going near a decade now under Klopp. Now, we want the trophies. Is that too difficult to understand?
