Question for all . When Klopp eventually leaves, who would be your ideal replacement? Personally, I'd like to think Pep would step forward to keep the momentum we currently have. Thoughts? 🤔.

The popular choice here Gandalf is Pep mate.

James Milner may be.

Pep. No one on the market will come close to Klopp so the best choice is surely someone who has worked next to him day-to-day for years. Plus the players all apparently love and respect him so should respect his authority. Even if Gerrard does a great job at Villa, for me he still won't have had enough experience under his belt by 2024.

I understand why people talk of PL as the replacement and could do very well. But I would like Louis Enrique or Erik Ten Hag. I like Hasenhuttl as well to be honest with you.

For continuity I’d have Pep as a different manager would probably result in a whole new back room staff, which I don’t think is helpful. I’m not sure on Gerrard as I believe he cares more about himself than the club. Out of left field, If Klopp stays 1 or 2 years past his current deal, which I believe he will. I would be interested to see how Xavi Alonso has progressed as a manager in that time. The guy is a class act and I can’t see him not being a class act manager.

Klopps man management skills and the way the players look at him shows the aura of the man.

Klopp has all his coaching staff in place, who do the day to day coaching and if you ever watch him on match day during the warm up he just stands in the middle looking at his players not saying a word whilst his coaches coach them In preparation.

When Klopp does go, replacing him with a manager who is tactically dept with good managerial skills will be the easy part.

The hard part will be replacing his world class leadership that seems to ensure all the players raise their game and are willing to run through brick walls for him.

I think it would be insane to not at least give Pep a try. If it fails then it fails and at least we then know, but i think it would be crazy to not try and continue to Klopp era through Pep, like we did with Shankly and Paisley back in the day. Continuity is an invaluable and rare thing in football, but the teams that can harness it are the ones that end up being successful for very long periods of time.

Pep, Gerrard or Tuchel.

Klopp will be hard to replace but Pep is surely the natural replacement for continuity. I hope he's given a chance. I'd steer clear of Gerrard. He was a hero player on the pitch, but I feel appointing him would be nostalgia over brains and no proven record. We're at the stage where Liverpool are competing at the elite level each season so that would demand a manager of calibre.
Eds interesting to hear your opinions on who would be a suitor to replace Klopp?

{Ed002's Note - Certainly not Guardiola.}

Steven Gerrard for me all day long. Considering what he did for this club I am shocked that some think that he is more concerned about himself than the club. Got to say that I hope stays forever though.

What if Pep doesn't want the manager's job?
Can't just force it on him.

This is a genuine question but does the name of the manager come in to any of your thinking?

Pep will obviously be the most seamless transition for the existing squad and style of play (on paper) however does the fact that he's a relative unknown outside of Liverpool put us at a potential disadvantage when recruiting? I'm sure many of our current squad will suggest Klopp as a reason for arriving, are we concerned we'll lose that?

Sometimes, the hate for Gerrard here is astonishing. Makes you wonder if he played for United.

Tuchel can stay the heck away from Anfield with that defensive footie he plays. Lijnders for me.

Surely Lijnders.

He has done / is doing his apprenticeship and doesn’t seem to have put a foot wrong.

He is learning from one of, if not the, best. He knows how the owners and back room staff works. He knows the players and understands what the club is about.

For me it’s simple having been around since the Boot Room days, promote someone from within if there is somebody ready. I reckon Pep is / will be ready.
