My take on Salah.
I would love him to stay. Without doubt, he has become a fantastic football player

If he decides he does leave, so be it. Good luck.
When we got him, he wasn't the player he is now. He wasn't even our 1st choice at the time. If he wants out, why can't someone else step up and build them selves to be a player of quality. Elliott maybe? Diaz or Mane?
A purchase to bring someone in?
For the money we get, I'm sure we could buy possibly and reuse what was left over for further recruitment if needed

Let's not forget, he has had his agent out in Spain prior to this, trying to get Real Madrid and Barcelona to strike a deal. It should be no shock he wants out.
As good as he is, I want him to want the club that made him what he is.

{Ed0666's Note - This has to be one of the finest posts that I’ve ever had the pleasure to read on this site in all my years as a poster and an editor. I agree with everything you say 100% Gaz and Thankyou for eloquently articulating most Liverpool fans sentiments. Kudos!

When we got him, he wasn't the player he is now.

Bollocks! He was scoring at an alarming rate in italy. Close to 15-20 goals for Roma.

{Ed0666's Note - Get in Harry!!!

So when he was at Roma, he was one of the worlds best? Doing all that he’s doing now
That’s the bollocks
He’s added so much to his game, he is a all round better player for us now than just scoring 15-20 goals in a less quality league.

{Ed0666's Note - get in there Gaz…over to you Harry!!!

So we are back to “we made him the player he is now” nonsense. Salah missed a grand total of 5 games due to injury in the past 5 seasons. Not going to find another player like that outside. Period.

My favourite lines from "ferry crossed the Mersey"

People around every corner
Seem to smile and say
We don't care what your name is, boy
We'll never turn you away

Mo has been a fantastic ambassador for the like club (on it and off it), and continues to do so! It would be inhuman for him to not love the city and football club after all we've achieved together.

He was contracted to score goals and create memories for all us fans - and boy did he do that! Unfortunately that contract is coming to its end and for whatever reason, it's looks to not be renewed. Until he shows the club he's not 100% committed to this club while under contract, he will have my support!

So let's not turn on the man instead, celebrate and allow him to always make his return back, across the Mersey - 🎵The place I love 🎵.

I get your point TT but Klopp has made him the player he is today. his 3 seasons in Italy was 6 goals 14 goals 15 goals not 15-20 at an alarming rate.

14 Mar 2022 07:42:54
Are you saying Salah hasn’t improved since we signed him?

Personally I believe he has - he has benefitted from working with one of the best managers in the world and has also benefitted from having a very good squad around him. Of course, you don’t have to believe that if you don’t want to.

7.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 08:37:31
His best season statistically was his first season with us so some might say he’s gone backwards at the club? haha.
I personally think he’s a better player now then he was when we first got him and I really hope he stays but I can see both sides of the coin with this one, he’s certainly in todays market worth £4-500k a week but that would be double our next highest earner and also giving a 30 year old a 5 year contract on huge wages is risky business no matter how good the player is.

8.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 08:37:40
The City fan spouting rubbish again. 30 odd goals in almost 3 seasons in Italy yet Klopp, his coaching staff and the other players they put around Salah didn't help him improve and become what he is today? I do marvel at the hatred some so called "fans" have towards the club.

9.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 09:09:45
TT, Absolute fantasy. Salah was NOT scoring goals for fun in Serie A. Salah's best return at Roma was 19 goals in all comps. Wow, truly world class stuff, lol. In fact, Klopp didn't even want to sign him cos of his Chelsea past and the scouting team had to convince him to do it and Klopp even admitted a couple years ago that he didn't want Salah at first. When he first came, Salah was missing sitters for fun until he got better cos the system suited him and continued to evolve with him as the focal point. Who created the system and evolved it? That would be Klopp who works for US so yeah, we made him. Stop making up fantasies to suit your rhetoric. It's embarrassing.

And yes, "We DID make him the player he is today". How? Salah said a few years ago in an interview that at Liverpool compared to Roma, he now plays a lot closer to goal than he used to at Roma which has helped him become a lot better cos he gets a lot more chances to score. He LITERALLY said so hence, we did make him the player he is today. He doesn't have to track back like Mane does, stays forward when we defend corners or set pieces, gets the ball a lot more than any other attacker and Klopp built the triangle of Hendo, Trent and Salah which is our strong side attacking wise. Salah must have done all this on his own. Take a day off, man.

10.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 09:20:49
Salah scored 35 goals in 3 seasons in Serie A and scored 32 Prem goals in his first season under Klopp. But Harry wants to tell us he didn't improve him?

I have no words for that level of lunacy.

11.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 09:27:50
You’d have been very hard pushed to find anyone that said Salah was one of the best players in the world when we signed him. Now he’s universally thought to be at least top 5 if not top 3 (apart from in the ballon d’or bafflingly) in the world.
That tells me he’s improved markedly whilst at Liverpool. Let’s not forget we signed a ‘Chelsea reject’ apparently. He wasn’t cut out for the premier league apparently.
I think in the system we play he’s deadly but if he leaves where do you play him? He’s not a winger and he’s not a striker. He’d have to go to a team that plays with a false 9 to create space for him like we do.
If he ends up as a number 9 or a winger he’ll fall flat on his face.

12.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 09:33:37
The fact that people think 19 goals from the wing is to be laughed at just shows what Mo has done here. There was a time when if one of our wide players got that amount of goals we'd have been soiling ourselves. can't help but think people are underestimating Salah all of a sudden because Diaz has come in yet but as i said in a different thread yesterday Diaz has come in as an unknown quantity. He has yet to be doubled and even trebled up on like Salah does be. And his 2 goals in 10 appearances would end up at nowhere near even the 19 goals been scoffed at above over a fùll season, never mind the 30 odd a season Mo has averaged since he got here.

13.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 10:00:59
Jesus Christ. Give him a chance Jadon. 4 of those appearances were cameos off the bench. So he has 2 goals in 6 starts in a new country where he doesn't know the language, and a new team that he's joined whilst games come so thick and fast that you barely get time to work on tactics in training.

It's not all about goals by the way and if you watched us against Brighton you'd have seen that he did have 3 players on him by the end of the game. In fact at one point he picked it up on half way, then as he ran forward 6 players were drawn to him. He still managed to get his head up and square it to Salah who was unmarked from 16 yards due to everyone chasing Diaz's shadow and with the goal at his mercy Salah dragged it wide. Not having a pop at Salah, just debunking the theory that Diaz doesn't get doubled or tripled up on because he does to the extent that they left Mo Salah unmarked in the penalty area!

I've seen more than enough from Diaz to see he is going to be unreal once he can understand his team mates, and has a pre-season with Klopp. 2 goals in 10 games is a ridiculous over-simplification. Diaz was the best player on the pitch in at least 3 of his 6 starts and everyone is waxing lyrical about him. Everyone except you apparently.

14.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 10:02:32
Jadon, people are just trying delude themselves about Salah like they did with Wijnaldum last season. He might leave so it’s ‘well he’s not that good anyway’ so they don’t get too upset.
They fact is we’ll miss him if he goes but I have faith in Klopp and his team to find a solution and I reckon we’ll be fine.
I do hope he stays though to save us the drama.

JH, I'm not laughing at Mo's accomplishments in Serie A at all. In fact, I was praying we sign him due to his more than decent nos. in his final Roma season (19 in all comps. ) . My post was aimed at Harry who makes up absolute and embarrassing fantasies just to suit his rhetoric and agenda for or against a player he likes or dislikes. If you're going to do that at least, speak the truth rather than engage in falsehoods.

Harry said Salah was world class and was scoring for fun before he came to us, none of which are true. I am by no means comparing Diaz to Salah as that would be completely asanine. That is not I am doing and anyone doing that or thinking that is fooling himself/ herself. Peace and Love.

17.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 10:31:26
Salah came in, scored from day one! this is what were talking about. excellence! WHEN Diaz is doing similar (and i really hope he does) come back to me.

18.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 10:42:00
Beckers Peckers, nobody is diminishing Salah's achievements. Simply highlighting that since signing for Liverpool a combination of the quality of his team mates, Klopp's coaching, and the system we play has taken him from being a very good player to a world class player.

That gives people confidence that we can do it again. We did it with Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge. We did it with Mane, Firmino and Salah. Now looks like we'll do it again Jota, Diaz and who ever the club signs if Salah leaves. This club has a habit of turning players into stars.

I want Salah out now but it's nothing to do with him as a player or his age. For me he's the best player to play for us this century and he's got another 5 years at the top. It has everything to do with the fact that he and Abbas are starting to remind me of Pogba and Raiola. I don't want our club to be turned into a circus like Man United. We beat Brighton to go within 3 points of City and got past the Italian Champions to the last 8 in the CL, but all people are talking about is Salah and how much money he should or shouldn't be paid. It's a joke.

Mane and Jota have 31 goals between them without taking any penalties. To be clear I don't think Diaz will score as many as Salah but i do think he works harder defensively and is better in the build up play. I do also think that he's capable of scoring 20 goals a season for us. So i do think we'd score less, but I still think we'd find a way to be just as effective as a team. Not a weaker team, but definitely a different team because let's be honest there is no like for like Salah replacement as he's just too good at what he does.

19.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 10:47:03
Jadon, Salah already spoke English and came in the summer so he had a pre-season. Not to mention the fact they are totally different players so Diaz will likely never score as many as Salah does even if he becomes a better overall player.

I seriously cannot believe i'm reading criticism of Diaz. Even rival fans respect the instant impact he's made but rather than focus on his blistering performances you're clinging to his goal ratio? Unbelievable 🤦🏻‍♂️.

21.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 11:11:41
Didn’t take much time to turn against him. The fans didn’t it? Has JK and his coaching staffs improved him - YES. Is he better than Jota and Mane who are also scoring goals YES, tell me why? 😂😂. Tell me why is he the best player in the league? Is it all down to JK and his coaching staffs?
his ball control, exceptional ability to dribble past players, his pace, his movement. His composure, oh Yes all down to JK and his coaching staffs 😂😂😂😂😂.

14 Mar 2022 11:15:08
He might leave so it’s ‘well he’s not that good anyway’ so they don’t get too upset.

Beckets mate. Hats off. This is spot on. It just take one contract dispute to turn on against a player.

23.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 11:15:12
You literally just criticised his goal return and suggested he won't get near 19. And followed it up with saying Salah's start was excellent and to come back to you when Diaz starts matching that.

News flash mate, they're different players. Salah is a brutally efficient player in the final third who scores an assists at a ridiculous rate. But he often leaves us exposed down the right because he isn't very aggressive in the tackle and is always looking to go forward or intercept a back pass. Diaz is new to a front 3 and although he was bagging goals for fun in Portugal he is still more naturally a left midfielder which you can see from him coming deep to collect the ball and tracking back beyond Robertson to make tackles.

Comparing their goal stats is lazy. Diaz for me is more like Mane than Salah and at one stage people said Mane was better than Salah even despite scoring/ assisting less because of that defensive cover and work rate he offers. Now i never agreed with that because i think Salah is special but Mane has still been world class and i believe Diaz will be too.

For me all that matters is Diaz is just happy to be at the club but Salah's acting like a hired gun who will turn on us if someone else offers him what he wants. I'm a Liverpool supporter, not a Salah supporter. I'm done with him unless he publically apologises for his agents behaviour but he won't because Abbas is only acting on his behalf.

24.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 11:30:19
Harry, can you direct quote a single person on this website who has said Salah isn't that good? Use the search function and get back to me because i'm sat at home in plaster cast and have therefore read every every post on here in the last week. I can assure you not one person has said "Salah isn't that good".

All that's been said is that before he came here he wasn't scoring 30-45 goals a season which is factually correct. And for that reason people are confident in the people in charge at Liverpool to find another gem we can turn into a world class player which is a perfectly reasonable thing to be confident about.

You are simply making up quotes nobody has said so you can fabricate an argument.

25.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 12:22:56
Its just Harry doing what Harry does in a lot of posts. Maybe he should read the Original Post again and then his ridiculous comment about Salah scoring 15/ 20 goals a season for Roma 🤔.
The fact is Liverpool and Klopp gave Salah the pedestal and players to showcase his talents and make him the player he is today. Not Roma, not Chelsea or Basel. LIVERPOOL Harry!

26.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 12:35:08
Diaz is just happy to be at the club😆😄. my jaysus, he's barely unpacked yet! never criticised, just pointed out how he'd done. If Diaz gets 10-15 goals a year and keeps playing well that's fine there's nothing wrong with that. All im saying is that compared to these kind of numbers the awkward looking fella on the other flank without a right boot and a no-look pass hits absolutely incredible numbers year after year.

27.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 12:59:32
Mo Salah is an world class talent, model professional and physical freak. He deserves to be our highest paid player.

At the same time, if we cannot pay what he wants then that is just business.

The behaviour of agents is a more general issue in the game but again, that is the nature of business.

My only minor criticism of Mo Salah is that he needs to rise above the fact that individual prizes like Ballon D'Or are dodgy. The adulation he gets from millions of Liverpool and Egypt fans is as authentic as it gets and has more longevity than any fleeting moments that are engineered by click factories.

28.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 13:15:13
Harry, you keep embarrassing yourself on this thread with the stuff you post, it's becoming very disturbing. As IR said, you'r just doing what you normally do as in, make OTT and asinine comments to see who will bite. Like I said, take a day off, man. Klopp made Salah what he is today, like he made Lewandowski, Gotze, Gundogan, TAA, Hummels and the list goes on. Klopp works for us at LFC (you support other teams when it suits you so you can't understand) so yeah, WE made him. We put him in a position to harness his talents, fact. Peace!

29.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 13:57:54
That's fair Jadon but Man City's top scorer has 10 league goals (half of Salah's total and 2 behind Mane and Jota too) yet they're still 3 points ahead with more or less the same goal difference. Salah has had more shots than any other player in the league by a long long way and although he works a lot of those chances himself we also should acknowledge that we have 2 of the most creative wing backs in world football gifting him goals just as often as he makes them for himself.

If Salah left, who ever takes his place will not score as many but others players could score more without Salah shooting on average 4-6 times a game (which is fair for him to do as he scores in more games than he doesn't) . I still think we'd score less overall but for example Salah's 6 penalties scored this season would've probably been converted by Fabinho if he'd not been in the team which would put him on 12 goals from defensive midfield. And the other 22 goals Salah's scored you'd probably get at least half of them back from his replacement (Bowen for example has 12 goals and 11 assists in a much weaker West Ham attack) and then hopefully other players would step up and take more responsibility in terms of taking shots on.

There is only 2 players in Europe who are as good as Salah right now and that is Benzema and Lewandowski neither of which are realistic or like for like replacements. So either way if Salah leaves we'd have to adapt as a team and we're good enough to adapt. Nobody is individually better than Salah at what he does but there are players we could sign to improve our midfield if we had €80-100m in the bank from selling him and subtle tweaks we can make in the way we attack so that the team is built around someone else other than Salah.

I have so much faith in Klopp that i do not fear a single player in our team leaving. He will find a solution in the squad or in the transfer market.

30.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 15:21:08
Fair enough we have creative fullbacks but we also have a midfield nowhere near as creative as Citys. We still rely on Salahs goals massively its no exaggeration to say that only for Salahs form last year we wouldn't be looking forward to the champions league draw this friday.

31.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 16:51:08
I'd like him to stay, but like Owen, Ngog, Torres and Suarez he can be and eventually will be replaced make no mistake in thinking he's invaluable, I imagine the club will weigh up his sale value vs replacement cost whilst factoring in his wage expectations and decide his future whether he likes that scenario or not.

32.) 14 Mar 2022
14 Mar 2022 17:16:10
