Will Salah stay or will he go?

Personally I want him to stay but I think he’s gone! Can’t see the club even giving 300k a Wk nvr mind 400k!

Thoughts?

I thought LFC was going to be smarter and work around the wages with sign on bonus and other bonuses to ultimately give him a similar amount of $$$.

I think it’s a huge contract and will probably be sorted in the summer and not while the season is ongoing. I think that’s the case for most of the top clubs and players who are in a similar situation. I can see him staying because the club are quite rational and will want to keep him at all costs, it’s just a matter of trying to meet in the middle. They’ll be aware that the prime years of top players has shifted from 25-30 to 30-35 and that he has many more years at the top to give. They prefer continuity over change and have handed out many contracts that could be argued as unjustifiable, all in the name of stability. Also i’m not sure where else he’d go if not to Spain. Can’t see him at PSG because i think he’s too competitive and sensible to move to that basket case of a club. I wouldn’t worry about it for now.

I don’t think they will keep him ‘at all costs’ @AW. I suspect he and his agent will have noticed the arrival (and impact of Jota and Diaz) - perhaps a bit of a warning that the king is dead, long live the king.

I agree it will probably be sorted one way or the other in the summer.

If Salah plays out his contract and Bellingham, as reported, stays in Germany for one more season, then perhaps we will use the money that would have been used for Salah on Bellingham, who I’d love to see play for us - one because, to my untutored eye he is a cracking footballer who is only going to get better and two because I ‘d love to hear 61,000 Liverpool fans blowing the roof off singing Hey Jude.

Of course he’s going to stay. These owners can offer him super league football in the next 18 months.

I just don't know who would take him for his and the clubs demands at the moment.

Be sad to see him go whenever it is, could he go for a free in another year or so? Maybe he would get the bumper wage somewhere else if it was a freebie.

As an aside, and on no tangible evidence I think losing in the final at AFCON has had a bit of an impact on Mo. he seems to have lost that little bit of ‘buzz’ at the moment. I’m sure it will return but at the minute he’s not firing on all cylinders to my eyes.

WDW good shout that mate. I didn’t even think of that. He’s played a hell of a lot of football as well this season. The fact we have great options for the front 3 May hopefully take some pressure off him and maybe allow him to not have to play 90 mins every week. Like we saw tonight.

Hopefully Bobby is fit again soon - good option to have him central move Sadio to the right and give Mo the odd spell on the neck / resting.

I hope we keep him. Not sure about "at all costs" tho, but that is for Ward and co to determine. I do feel like the last few matchweeks have shown why he has over-estimated his own valuation.

{Ed0666's Note - over estimated his own valuation? You have to pay the going rate to world class. I’m not surprised he wants figures that replicate what Ronaldo is earning at United and good for him. 2 or 3 innefectual games shouldn’t diminish the figure he’s asking for as he could quite easily score a hat trick the next game and everyone would be eulogizing about him again.
