Biggest match of the season so far tomorrow night, in my opinion. All in for that match without thinking at all about the cup final on Sunday. To be honest, the front three picks itself tomorrow night anyway, with Firmino and Jota out. I think the back six also picks itself (but I know some people would prefer Konate to Matip in our first choice eleven now), which really just leaves the two other midfield places alongside Fabinho. For our strongest line up, I think it's two from Henderson, Thiago and Elliott. I think we've looked better when Thiago has been on the pitch since his return from injury so I'd go with him. Then I think Henderson and Elliott will share 90 mins between them but I'm not sure which one will start; probably Henderson but I think his place in the starting line up could start to come under a bit of pressure as Elliott gets back into his stride and if Thiago stays fit.

Spot on, RR. Someone said that Liverpool have a Cup final come Sun and it is not even the biggest game of tour week. As you have said, Leeds is the biggest game of the season right now and we have to remain focused and determined to get the job done ASAP. No fooling around here cos if we don't win, Sun. means nothing to me, personally.

Henderson starts for me with Fab and Thiago.

The next game is always the biggest match and the way it should be.

If we use the same front line of Salah, Mane, Diaz and Elliott we should be okay, in the least, and come away with a victory. Leeds' form has been off for some time and I doubt that their players' morale is high with Bielsa making his usual noises about not staying beyond the summer.

Fabinho, Thiago and Elliott midfield for me. Bring in Hendo, Keita (or Ox) after half time if we are out in front, for Thiago and Elliott.

I think he might go with origi tomorrow nite, diaz and Salah either side. Fab, elliott and thiago in midfield. Possibly konate instead of matip, trent and robbo back. That's my guess at it anyway!

Leeds are a terrible side with half their side out through injury. We will beat them by at least 3.

If City hadn’t of lost to Spurs, we’d be seeing a totally different game and starting Line Up vs Leeds IMO.
This has become a huge game, Full team, coach welcoming, Flares Smoke Grenades, Atmospheric Anfield at its best 😂 massive night ahead.

It's still the same game, the same 3 points. i doubt City losing had any impact at all on Klopp's line up for tomorrow.
Every game is a huge game now we're breathing down City's necks, and Sunday speaks for itself.

{Ed0666's Note - we have to go full strength tommorow it’s a must win..at the whistle we have to unleash hell. Sunday is less important in my opinion!

Klopp will definitely have one eye on Sunday but hopefully Jota will be back. He will rotate as we also have Milan week after.

Did anyone see Klopp’s comment about the next match is always the most important match? If he’s to be believed (and I do) he will pick a team he think will beat Leeds without Sunday having any part in his thinking.

I’m with the opinion that has been expressed a couple of times on this thread. In terms of trophies there’s the PL and the CL, then on the next tier down is the FA Cup and then on the tier below that is the ‘luck losers’ prize - the League Cup.

It’s always good to win a cup but if I was asked would I swap the PL trophy for the EFL Cup I’d probably say no.

Tomorrow and Sunday are as important as one another.
For years Man City dominytge league cup with strong squads. We have our strongest squad to date. Both matches are winnable and we will win both with the squad we have.
Believe ladies and gentlemen. Believe.

It's going to be super important for fans who get worked up by squad selections to remember - if every game is a must win, we can't play our best xi every game for the rest of the season. We will let people have recovery weeks (like trent this weekend), and they will be made by people who know what position and state the players are in far better than any of us. If klopp chooses our absolute best xi this weekend, or any weekend, then great. If klopp decides that after all those extra minutes the afcon, this is the game salah will have off and minamino will start, or diaz hasn't quite gotten the connection with the other 2 yet so origi starts, then that's fine too - he knows what he is doing!

Spot on ed66 mate need to press them and be agressive both physically and with the ball.

If city losing doesn't give our boys more verve, urgency, encouragement then something is wrong.

Will never get a better chance to win our 20th title. Need to put pressure (lava) on city to see how they react (deal)

{Ed0666's Note - I love that mate we really need to unleash ‘lava’ on them. It’s exactly what we need to do. While I’d say we’re not in the driving seat I’d rather be in this position we are in today than we were in 2 weeks ago

Ed0666 and others. I understand where you are coming from but for me Sunday is more important. I grew up with the Liverpool teams of the 70s and 80s, it felt like we were winning everything. Winning silverware is what this club is about. Winning 1 leads to 2 and so on, serial winners. Taking that team photo with a bunch of cups on the grass in front of you. I know the league cup isn't the most important, I know the revenue is a pittance but you look at teams that dominate, they win everything they can. City's achilles heal is Europe because they have never won it. We win on Sunday and it drives home to the players and club that we are winners and that will carry us further than any mid week win or City loss.

Don't get me wrong, I'm buzzing for the league and desperate to win against Leeds. We could beat Leeds and not get the win at the Etihad. We (as can City) easily drop points between now and the end of the season. Sunday is a trophy, we used to win domestic cups regularly that fed into the club winning mentality, I want it!

With you, Ed. I remember in 18/ 19 when we hosted Leicester the day after City lost to Newcastle with a chance to go 7 points clear and we drew and a big reason why we drew was cos there was NO atmosphere at the stadium and the fans were super quiet as if, "Go on then. Do it" instead of supporting the team when we clearly needed it. That CANNOT happen vs Leeds. The fans need to come out there and support the team and make that place a cauldron to the point where Leeds can't even hear themselves think.

Anfield has been very quiet for the most part recently. Chants of, 'Is this a library' are normally reserved for poorly supported teams.

Potclay mate no one is suggesting Sunday isn't important, but dropping points against Leeds will completely change the atmosphere and even winning on Sunday will look like a downer.

Coz everyone was praying hoping and waiting for city to slip so we can have a title race . Just imagine if we dropp points against Leeds what the reaction will be?

Momentum in the league is everything especially coming up to the run in so tonight’s game is way more important than Sunday.
If at the end of the season we’ve won the Carabau cup but not the league I can honestly say I’d be more disappointed at missing out on the league than I would be excited about winning the Mickey Mouse trophy.
I’d love to win on Sunday don’t get me wrong but it won’t ruin my weekend if we don’t. If we don’t win tonight though it will take me at least a week to get over it.

Spot on, BP. The only reason I want us to win on Sun is cos I cannot stand the many of the Chelsea fans (since Jose's first arrival) who are now back-tracking after they ran their mouths as to how they were going to smash us to win the PL cos they signed Lukaku. That's it. We HAVE to win today, end of. Sun.? It's a bonus, IMO.
