I met Rooney once and he was the most shy and unassuming person I’ve ever met from the football world. (I’ve met quite a few) It’s an odd one because I know he’s a total bell and I was expecting him to be but he was blushing and everything he was so shy. Might be because I’m a normal person from the normal world and he has lived in a bubble since he was 16 and maybe he only feels comfortable in that bubble, a bubble where he can be a total ar$ehole.

I met Rooney years ago after he just broke through at Everton. Moyes was trying to protect him from the media so he used to sneak out he back and travel back with his mates and not on the team bus. I bumped into him walking past as he was getting in the car with his mates. Had a chat with him and he was extremely pleasant and actually very quiet. I do think most people don't understand what that sort of exposure and pressure puts on a 16 year old. Most 16 year olds biggest worry is exams, this lad was thrust into the spotlight.
