Does everybody agree Elliot has killed Kieta's liverpool career after his performance. Showed more energy and looked hungry. All l remember from Kieta's performance was turning over the ball and lack of effort. Once Elliot was introduced liverpool looked a different team. He will struggle to get game time now. Has to go.

Keita killed his own career irrespective of Elliots performances. I’ve never disliked a Liverpool player so much. Plays with absolutely no heart or desire. Hides from the ball and backs out of challenges. Should have been gone a long time ago. Take what we can get for him this summer and move on.

OP if Keita's career got killed, Elliott has nothing to do with it. Keita did a bang up job doing the career-killing ALL by himself. Elliott is a true talent and will get more game time and hopefully will continue to improve. All that comparison stuff is not warranted, IMO.

More likely Kieta has killed Kieta's career.

The great mystery of naby keita! Personally I think this is an imposter of the real naby 🤨.

Elliott has only played a total of 4 games for the first team to date. We need to patient with him. It's exciting to have him back and another and a different kind of option in midfield for us.

As for Keita, he has a role in the squad for the rest of the season whilst we remain involved in all comps. Long may he stay fit and available. We can re-assess in the summer. Like Ox, if he can stay fit then he's going to attract some suitors in the summer whereas that wasn't an option last summer.

Long-term, you could argue that it is Hendo that would need to be looking over his shoulder. He seems to be finding things tough at the moment.

For now, let's enjoy the fact that everyone is available to pick from as we fight for everything.

{Ed001's Note - please god let's hope Keita doesn't have a role to play or we are going to be playing with 10 men. He is a lazy coward of a player that should be nowhere near the squad, let alone the team.}

My first choice Liverpool midfield is Fabinho, Henderson and Elliott.
Read into that what you will.

Its a shame as he appears to be talented, but its no use without desire, application and not being made of glass.

What are peoples thoughts on Curtis Jones? I still have hopes but didn't think he was effective against Cardiff.

No matter who stands out this season weather it be Elliott, Jones, Diaz etc etc Naby has to go. He brings absolutely nothing to the team except for taking up a better players spot.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree Larry

I remember keita's first preseason with us. He flew out to America to play in our friendlies, but missed two against, I'm sure, City and Utd because he had a stiff neck after the flight. hasn't really got going has it since then. Big shame as he could be a player for us, but as it is, you could probably condense all his performances into 90 minutes for us at the moment.

{Ed0666's Note - it’s ironic as he was a beast when playing for Leipzig

Few things ruin my mood more than seeing Keita on the team sheet. Not only is he crap, untrustworthy and a total coward, he also doesn’t doesn’t deserve a place above any other player in the squad or the academy. I feel like a piece of me dies every time Klopp bestows him with yet another showering of trust. How can he be so blind. He’s not just a bad footballer, he’s not a nice person. He’s in the same bin as Carroll, Johnson and Ej Hadji Diouf for me. Been here 18 months too long and if he isn’t gone in the summer i’d be deeply upset. With the young, hungry talent we have at our disposal there’s simply to reason to play him anymore. I do sometimes wonder if Klopp can be guilty of being too nice or too tolerant of players for too long.

Keita's Liverpool career's been on life support since he arrived and I can't see it continuing beyond this season. I don't think Elliot's made a material difference. Keita just hasn't performed well enough.

I was staggered he stayed here in the summer, especially since Klopp ruthlessly subbed him against Madrid three minutes before HT and then didn't play him again that season. And a good game against an extremely poor Man U team apart, he's done nothing to show an improvement. As a matter of fact, he's been hooked another 2 times at half time this season for being rubbish.

Some people will make excuses about injury or him not being suited to our tactics, but for me it's a simple lack of on pitch effort. It can't be fixed, we need to just cut our losses and move him on.

Haha Ed001 - sorry didn't mean to get you too excited about Naby there. Yes he's been a disappointment. But he has been a bit more available this season and (yes I know stats can get it twisted) has been involved in some of our big performances this year - Old Trafford for example. Stats tell us that he's not been involved in any of our defeats this season and has only been involved in one game whereby we dropped points - Spurs away - where his supporting cast was Morton and Milner.

Schlumberger seems to have put him on a regime that has kept him relatively free of the niggles - bar the impact injury he picked up from Pogba, which was exacerbated by coming back too quickly in the next game versus Brighton - we were 2-0 up when he went off.

I agree he's not good enough nor puts in the effort required, but if you want me to make a case to sell him to another club, I am available and charge competitive rates :)

#NabyOut #BellinghamIn.

{Ed001's Note - stats tell you nothing when it is a team game. We just need to get rid to somewhere like Italy, where those kind of players are allowed to stroll around.}

Pelican, he's started only 6 games in the PL out of 22. He's started twice in the CL, was subbed at HT in one of them for being terrible, and twice in the domestic cups. Again, subbed at HT in one of them for being terrible.

The sample set of Naby matches isn't big enough for the 'we haven't lost a game he's involved in' stat to actually mean anything useful. You'd be as well to point out that we have a 100% win record in PL games when Gordon comes off the bench (1 win out of 1).

Yes Keita's come off the bench in quite a few games we've won, but apart from a very good goal against Palace to make 2-0 into 3-0 with a minute to go, he hasn't, that I can recall, positively impacted our performance when coming on.

So the “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “As long as he is a Liverpool Player he gets my support” is not really true, you choose who YNWA applies to?
Should make interesting discussions in future when other supporters knock a player and some posters above start the YNWA point.
Klopp seems to like Naby as he continues to play him so he thinks he gets the managers support.

20.) 08 Feb 2022
08 Feb 2022 17:53:56
He has probably missed half of the games he has by his own free will and choice. The amount of niggles that keep him out for 3 weeks is a joke. Where the likes of Henderson, Fab and Milner would run through a brick wall for the club, never mind having a sore toe. When he does play he still either hasn’t grasped how Klopp wants him to play or has complexity ignored it. Either way it’s embarrassing and he should be the first one out the door.

08 Feb 2022 18:00:37
Who says Keita's Liverpool career is over?
A fee on here could be in for a comedown in the summer when he's still here and probably being offered an extension into the bargain.

22.) 08 Feb 2022
08 Feb 2022 18:04:39
Well at the least keeping him in the team/ squad is hopefully keeping his value up for a summer sale.

Get used to Naby lads because he'll be here next season. Milner and the Ox are more likely to depart this summer to be replaced by Elliott and hopefully Bellingham.

Keita is a poor man’s Pogba which says it all, he will always drag some fans in as he clearly has the ability but he doesn’t have the aptitude to be consistent in a game let alone over a longer period of time, also massively injury prone.
I imagine the club are looking to get rid but will struggle to shift his wages, wouldn’t surprise me if he runs his contract down and leaves on a free.

{Ed0666's Note - do you think the club might offer him a contract to protect value?

25.) 09 Feb 2022
09 Feb 2022 15:45:56
Ed0666- I don’t think so, his contract runs out next year so there is a strong risk he leaves for free, but what do people think we can realistically get for him? £20m maybe? On his reported wage of approx £6m p/ a I don’t think it’s worth giving him a new contract with a view to selling him, he will know the score so doubt he will take a pay cut and imagine he will be quite happy to take a big payday at a desperate team next summer.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m sure this is one contract FSG would gladly run down 😂
