With Luis Diaz possibly making his debut tomorrow I wonder whose debut you were most impressed by?

I remember Stan Collymore scoring a screamer vs Sheffield Wednesday I think it was and thought we'd signed a hell of a player. I didn't know much about him or what sort of person he was then.

{Ed0666's Note - I was there for Dirk Kuyts debut and that was pretty memorable. Worked hard and pressed hard and put himself about the exact opposite of morientes’ debut 😀

Big Virg against Everton. Scored the winner.

{Ed0666's Note - that was some debut mate

El Hadji Diouf. Scored a brace on debut I think.

Torres’ debut, he looked a class above anything we had at the time and he scored too. If memory serves we were robbed of a win by a ridiculous penalty but that debut was enough to give me optimism about Torres’ quality.

Sure was 666. He won everything in at the back that night to. He just looked pure class. I don't think I was there for Dirks debut but was there for some of his memorable moments. Obviously his hat trick against united, his pens against Everton where we nearly got lynched outside, his last minute winner at City after their fans had sung who they were going to buy all game but sang we can keep Dirk Kuyt and for him to get the winner was so sweet. Also one that goes under the radar was Inter at home where I think he was man of the match. He was tireless. Going back to debuts, didn't Albert Riera get credited for a goal against man United on his debut. Albeit from a deflection? I think it may have been the game where Babel miss hit a shot that looked over Van der Saar for the winner.

{Ed0666's Note - not sure about Riera’s debut mate. My memory isn’t what it used to be but I’m sure the lads/lassies on the site will oblige you. If where talking about debut’s I was there for Litmanen’s in the league cup at selhurst park and You knew from his first touch that he was 23 levels above anybody on the pitch. He played a through ball into heskey and heskey berated him for it but in reality the pass was world class and heskey just didn’t envisage it. Litmamen looked at Emile incredulously and probably realized he’d made a massive boo boo signing for us. What a player Jari was, truly one of the greatest ever to play the game. I wish he’d come to us sooner.

I remember Sadio Mane standing out on his debut. He scored that brilliant solo goal and Arsenal just could not cope with his electric pace and power.

Wow, I'd forgotten about that Litmanen pass. I'm off to try and find it to remind myself. You're right too, the man was easily the best player in the league for me, just a shame about injuries etc. Imagine if we'd bought him in 1992 instead of Istvan Kozma.

My dad took me to Fulham away in 93 (I was 7. Wow! ) when fowler made his debut and scored in a 3-1 win. I'm sure he then scored 5 in the 2nd leg at Anfield?
Was also lucky enough to go to Wimbledon away at Selhurst park in 97 when Owen came off the bench for his debut and scored.

Torres home debut against Chelsea was massive. I remember when we signed him after his YNWA tattoo was exposed training for Spain at the euros and the Hype that followed as well as THAT song. What a signing that unfortunately didn't end well but still, what a player he was in the first few years.

Torres’ debut was insane. You could tell that we had never signed a player like him in years prior. Sadio’s debut at the Emirates was pretty breathtaking as well.
