Have to disagree Juicer - the standard of football is less than optimal and the level of fan hatred is barbaric (and I saw a couple of games live back in the day) .

As a sporting event it has absolutely nothing to recommend it.

It might be regarded as Great British Sporting Occasion for past performances and games but in today its a terrible game and the football played is dross. its on par with the Africa cup of nations game at least if you watch that you can watch a Liverpool player.

Last night's Old Firm was a great game to watch, Celtic played like us, absolutely swarmed Rangers in the first half, dominated them. Then the 2nd half was an entertaining back and forth. Got to say Celtic's Japanese players have really stood out since signing for them, looks like Gerrard has left Gio Van Bronkhurst a busted flush of a teamc, can see Celtic getting stronger and stronger as the season goes on. Ange Postegoglu to take over from Klopp in 2024!

@Irish Rover, the subject was Celtic vs Rangers being one of the great British sporting occasions, which it just isn’t.

Of course I can recall Manchester United and Liverpool fans singing absolutely vile and disgusting songs too but that has nothing to do with the ‘Old Firm’ derby. Happy to have a conversation about that if you wish.

The standard of football in Scotland is second rate and Rangers and Celtic are above average teams in the context of a very, very mediocre competition.

I stand by what I said about the fans behaviour.

No, it’s your point Irish Rover, which is fair enough, but the original post was specific to the Old Firm derby and I replied within that context.

As I said, if you wish to have a debate about standards of behaviour at football matches and in particular so called fans who spout vile garbage - including Liverpool ‘supporters’ - I’d be more than happy to join in.
