What are peoples thoughts on the Ox? Not MOTD fever cos he scored but I've always had a soft spot for him. Generally works hard, def puts the km in each game and strikes from distance too.

Always hope he'll rediscover his pre Roma form but am I silly for that? Home grown as well which we struggle with atm, but he's just a player I like. Thoughts?

I'll always like him as a character, he's got a great personality and is great in the media.

On his day he can be a really aggressive strong force, and he's pacey, unfortunately we don't get much of him 'on his day'.

I just think he'll always fall in the category of a player hampered by injuries. As much as I like him I see him as a squad player, unfortunately for him I think he needs a run of games to hit real form so that role doesn't really suit him.

Great guy, good servant, I imagine he makes way for Jones/ Elliot and we replace him with an upgrade in the squad. Hopefully he gets a move to somewhere like Southampton and has a solid little career after us.

He doesn’t do anything in midfield it’s like he doesn’t know where to play or how to connect and then on the wing he generally seems to have lost the ability to dribble past a player and he doesn’t seem to have any speed left either. It’s really strange he should be good in midfield but he doesn’t seem to understand his role in there.

He's had a good run of fitness, but he doesn't get in the team that much and doesn't look like being back to what he was when he does play.

I want to be wrong about this, I want the player we had 17/ 18 back, but I don't think I am wrong. Best for both parties for him to find a new club, imo.

Honestly? I thought he was anonymous until he scored.

He seems a nice and popular figure amongst the squad and fans. But I believe he’s another who’s in the 18 month left category and I can’t see him being offered another one. If the leaked wages are to be believed he’s something like the 10th highest paid player in the squad.

Love ox. would love to see him get back to his best. Nothing better than an ox screamer. But I fear we are going to be disappointed, another injury prone star. On a plus Fabinho seems to be hitting a few.

He has never been the same player since his injury against Roma, that was almost 4 years ago so I think it's time to accept he'll never get back to that level again. He has flashes of his old self and can sometimes look good but he is now unable to put a consistent run of good performances together.

I good 10 mins in 10 games isn’t good enough! Should of been sold long ago!
Who cares if he’s a sound bloke means f all when it’s not bringing in silverware!

I agree with Thunderbird.

That said, I’ve nothing but respect for him as he’s a decent bloke and clearly a good character around the squad, just a shame he’s had such bad luck with injury.

Ox is one of Klopp’s favourites, and looks to be integral to the morale of the group.
If ever there was a time to get rid of him, it would have been after his first bad injury at Liverpool.
Klopp went and signed him to another contract.
It wouldn’t surprise me that he stays until Klopp leaves.

Spot on Thunderbird and VVVV.

He was really hitting peak form up to (and including) the Roma game. It’s a real shame that he hasn’t been able to get back to that level and probably never will give the length of time since the injury.

He seems like a really decent bloke off the field and I’m sure he’s a really popular member of the squad. On the pitch he seems like he is a better performer the greater his confidence but not being a first choice for any one of the midfield roles means that he doesn’t necessarily get that run of games to rebuild the confidence that probably means when he does get a game he isn’t right mentally to play his best.

In an ideal world he would recover his form and force his way into a starting role but, in reality, it might be better for him to move on for his own sake. Either way, good luck to the lad - he deserves to play regularly and make a go of it.

I love Ox and will always have a soft spot for him cos he could have gone to Chelsea for more money and wages BUT he said no and came to us when we were just starting to et really and we all saw how we improved with him in the team after "He who shall remain nameless) threw his strop and threatened to blow up the DR if he was not allowed to get his "dream" move, disgracefully left us.

He actually made us a better team cos that is what Klopp does: He makes players better. That said even tho, that injury vs Roma cut out his momentum, he has still contributed to our success. Only the front 3 scored more goals than Ox in 19/ 20. As for his injuries, Ox has been fit for the past 18 months so there goes that narrative down the tubes. Ox does not get enuff games to put consistently good perfs. together, IMO and that is his main problem.

He's average.
His strength is running with the ball, he doesn't do that that well anymore and it isn't going to get better.
A signing that didn't work out.

He deserves game time but I don't think it should be at LFC. Good luck to the lad if he we're to be sold to a club perhaps like Brighton.
