Ed’s, any truth to the rumours that Thiago is out for the rest of the season? I seriously hope not, the midfield is lacking quality in depth as it is! Surely if that’s true we’ve got to dip into the market and sign a midfielder!

{Ed0666's Note - no idea if he’s out for the season but the guy has to be sold if we can get a fee he hardly plays.

I truly hope this is fake news! I’m already miffed enough at the midfield issues that were predicted coming to pass.

Hopefully Elliott back soon to take that place, if Elliott/ Jones are in form then I'd like them both to get a run.

Starting to feel like the Thiago transfer just hasn't worked out!

It was an accident waiting to happen that was visible from miles away.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain- 24 games.

“But we didn’t need to replace Gini”.

Not replacing our most reliable and injury resistant midfielder was a poor call. It’s not going to be rectified either.

But Gini was just making the numbers up, he was poor for a very long time, and contributed nothing last season, great to see players like Jones and Elliott get chances.

Most wins in first 200 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions:

136 - Trent Alexander-Arnold

133 - Georginio Wijnaldum

131 - Alan Kennedy

130 - Andy Robertson (196 apps)

129 - Sadio Mané

126 - Gary Gillespie

125 - Mo Salah

123 - Steve McMahon

122 - Ian Rush

I can’t believe we won 133 of those games with only 10 men.

Origi 2 goals against Barca. He won us the CL.

Wiji 2 goals against Barcelona and contributed so much more in other CL games and PL win. Fans - he was crap.

Great post JK. Massively divisive player but he fit our team like a glove.

Thank goodness not all fans become managers ….

@JK, “Lies, damn lies and statistics” mate.

Gini played so many games because a lot of our midfielders were out injured. He was / is a good player and a bit better when he was actually ‘switched on’. People really have to push on from the ‘we haven’t replaced him’ drivel though - we went through the CL qualifying group without a loss (something we never did when Gini played for us, incidentally), we are in the semi of the League Cup for the first time in an age (again, incidentally before Gini arrived) we will finish in the top 3 in the PL at worst and, at the time of writing, we are still in the FA Cup. Gini leaving doesn’t seem to have adversely impacted where we are at the moment.

WDW not saying Gini was our best player mate far from it. But you cannot deny he played his part. Only Klopp knows the reasons he played whether it was on merit or necessity. But the fact is he did play mate.

I’m not saying we miss him or he would have made a difference this season but he played his part when here. You win as a team and lose as a team. And he was part of the team that won the CL, PL and World Club Cup.

190 games missed between them? Sell the lot of them. Doesn't matter how good you are if you're rarely available.

If Thiago is out for the season, that cements the decision to retain him instead of Gini as a howler unfortunately.
Just as he looked to have got going as well.

You should remember that as well as Thiago, Ox and Keita being injured a lot, we've also been without Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.
And didn't Gini have a say in him leaving?
