Look Spurs was points dropped and that’s what matters.
Yes we should have had a penalty and yes Kane should have been sent off but Spurs should also have scored at least 4 times and our keeper blundered for a second time in 3 weeks so it is what it is.
Leeds and Chelsea away are MUST win games now and if we don’t push for a semi final place in the Carabao I will be annoyed as that could be a Wembley visit!

Not bothered about the Carabou Cup. We’re not blessed with quality in depth (the Spurs game proved that), so we should give the u23’s a run out and focus on the league matches, hopefully Salah and Mane will be available for Chelsea or that’s going to make a hard game almost impossible.

OP if the decisions were given, none of the Spurs chances even happen and they are potentially down to 9 men. You can’t just dismiss that and say it’s points dropped without adding that bit of context to it. With all that we had to overcome, we still could have won which is a testament to the mental toughness of this team, IMO.

For me, I think it was a point gained with all the off field stuff we went thru and the on field shenanigans that we endured from incompetent officiating. Had we lost under those circumstances, it would have been too much to overcome, IMO. We move.

We were missing the world's best centre half, the team captain and notable others. On the plus side it was a cracking game to watch, which many forget is the point of the sport in the first place.
If anything cost us those extra 2 points it was the shocking refereeing decisions, which we have no control over.

How anyone can say they’re not bothered about a possible cup final for us, is beyond me.
Winning trophies and playing good football is number 1. Without those 2, what’s the point.

Oli you make some good points mate but it’s all ifs and buts now. The only thing the record books and league table show is we got 1 point instead of 3.

It’s not the end of the world and it’s how we react to the next game and then every one after. This time last season we were top of the league not expecting the big fall that was around the corner.

City have a tough game on Sunday and we play early (which apparently our players don’t like) so if we can get the 3 points it puts the ball back in their court to react.

More worryingly for me is Mane and Salah leave for a month in a week or so, so I cannot imagine their contracts being sorted whilst they are away (I might be wrong) so that’s 2 of our best players returning with 17 months left on their contracts and let’s be honest in that position then pair hold all the cards over our money men.

I’m not concerned with short term as any team can be beaten on the day. It’s the mid - long term I’m slightly more concerned about.

JK23.

Leicester at home is hardly a tough game lol. they would smash them to pieces.

KS City like ourselves are capable of smashing everyone, the beauty of the game is that doesn’t always work out. If we don’t think City will drop points we might as well pack up and go home as the league title is already sewn up. They will drop points and so will we. It’s just how many each team drops.

For the first time in years I’m desperate to win the League Cup. With Man City out, we’re the best team left in it, and need to get our hands on a trophy to get that winning hunger back.

Agreed Tristan. Why would we say no to a potential trophy, especially when our biggest rivals are out and we have a real chance? We have our best team we’ve ever had in 30 years and we should be looking to stack them with trophies. We’ve won only 5 trophies in 10 years so not sure we should be thinking we’re better than it.

JK, I think City will be very hard to beat under the circumstances. With all teams missing players due to C.V. etc, City have by far the strongest squad depth and will likely be the least effected team. I can see them going on one of their long winning streaks with the rest struggling to keep pace. I hope I'm wrong, but like you said the other day, in years gone by, this LFC team would have won the league a few times I feel.

You do realise Salah and Mane don't have to be in the room for a new contract to be agreed?

Oh Mane Mane I 100% get that. But surely they will be part of the final decision making. But yeah I’d imagine both have purposely delayed negotiations so they can get the deals done in Jan when they are out of the country representing their nations in what are both probably their best chance of getting international honours 🤷🏻‍♂️

If I was a betting man I will say both will return in Feb with contracts still up in the air and 11 months to go until they can negotiate free transfers.

JK23, I’m fully aware of what the records will say. Just saying that we gained a point cos on another day with all the poor officiating we suffered, we lose the game and that would have been extremely difficult to swallow.

As for what happens moving forward, we have games coming thick and fast so no time to dwell on the past and that’s the way I like it. We have to win every game cos I assume City will win theirs. That should be our mentality now. As for the AFCON, I’m sure we have a plan in place on how we will play cos we have known this for 18 months now. As long as our boys are fit to play, I never rule us out.

Tristan, in the scheme of things, the carabou cup isn’t important. I’d rather rest our best players than risk them in a trophy that isn’t going bring in much money or help us qualify for the champions league.

Truth is that the league and champions league are the priority, the domestic cups are inconsequential and low priority. I’d happily rest Fabinho, VVD, Matip, Robbo, TAA, Henderson, Thiago, Alisson, Salah, Mane, Jota and Firmino for those games, even not pick them for the bench as it’s not worth the risk.
