What is with this love affair with Man city. Everywhere I see, CIty will win the title, how Pep and his team are so magnificent and how Liverpool have no chance at the title. We are so reliant on Salah for the goals and still have Mane and Jota in the top 5 goal scorers. We have scored more goals than city and have a better goal difference. They are just ONE point ahead of us. Can someone tell me what I am missing?

{Ed014's Note - simply I guess that they’re a great team with a top manager and as previously will give you a run for your money.

What of that are you not getting/liking. You just sound bitter! 🤷‍♂️

It will be City or Liverpool that win the title - FACT
The squad depth gives City an advantage which is why 8/ 10 pundits will say City over Liverpool, it just logical.
However, write off the reds at your peril, I think Klopp is the better manager personally.

Other fans seem to dislike LFC fans (in football terms) due to their so called arrogance. A lot of my mates who support different clubs will always support whoever Liverpool are against. Does it bother me? Nope not 1 single bit. I think if we gave a little bit more credit to others from our ivory towers as well as support our great club I'm sure that mind turn the tide a little. But a lot of other fans believe every other club, manager and player is crap outside of LFC.

Should have added other pundits and people in media seem to have similar opinion also.

The answer is simple, squad depth, C.V. and AFCON. City are favourites and it would be a huge achievement to win this season but hopefully we can make a fight of it to the end.

I don't get why you get so upset about someone giving their opinion? Why worry about something you can't control. Just relax and remember opinions are like ar*eholes and everyone has one.

Personally I think Liverpool are a unique club as are the fans. We have a great history which every club and fans (bar one) are jealous of. More than that is at the games we have a great togetherness as fans, great songs, tremendous support for the team even when things go tits up. We don't boo the team or walk out after 17 minutes and we also occasionally applaud the other team when the beat us. In my opinion, no club comes close and they know it. It might sound arrogant and honestly I'm not trying to be but its just how I believe the ethos of this great club is and should be.

Shayan, I have not heard one fan of any team or any pundit saying Liverpool have no chance of winning the league. I agree most feel City will win because as mentioned above The City squad is deeper and the AFCON. But Everyone thinks it will be close. We need to keep our main players fit. And if we can we should get a very large points total.

Ed014, I am not bitter at all. You need to re read what I have written. Don't try to make it out to be something its not. Not once have I said that they are not a great team. I did however ask why are Liverpool being written off.

{Ed014's Note - no need to re read it, it’s what it sounded like to me and I’ve not seen anyone write Liverpool off, that would be ridiculous!

I’m not making it out to be anything other than exactly what it is.

OP, it is normal for majority of pundits to think City are favourites. They have won 3 of the last 4 titles on show so what were you expecting? It is what it is. It is up to us to put a sledge hammer to that narrative by you know, winning the darn thing. Proving them wrong is the only way to shut the doubters up.

JK23, I am not interested in whatever any rival fan or pundit thinks about us as a club or as fans. They don’t want what is best for us so why bother? And they can support whoever we play against as that is their right. Credit can be given to other teams if I think I as an LFC fan think they deserve it BUT even after all we have achieved, many rival fans are still sore about us regardless of how deferential you are.

If rival fans think we are arrogant fans then, so be it. No amount of humility shown to them or credit given to them is going to change that cos sometimes, people believe what they believe and it’s not going to matter whatever you do.

I thought it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between the size of the fanbase (and popularity) of the top six, with the way they are reported on, commented on and analyzed. So I did some snooping around on Google.

As I suspected, Liverpool is the club with the highest number of fans and supporters in the UK, closely followed by ManU (hello Ed025, from the true people's club 😁) . But if you take total support (global following included) then we fall to third place behind ManU (1st) and Chelsea (2nd) . Several websites had the same positions, even though their numbers were different. The only thing I got out of this was that ManU and Chelsea have been extremely smart in their international marketing. ManU is present in 72 countries with a fanbase that is easily 50% larger than ours. Chelsea have sucked every drop out of the Mourinho years and titles won since then, to get a huge fanbase (they only have 6 titles against our 19, or Arsenal's 13 titles, how on Earth can they be more popular? ) . We are simply playing catch up (but getting better it seems.

So how does it affect the way we are seen and portrayed by the TV media? I think it does to a certain extent. Unless we are steamrolling over everyone as we did in 2019, I think those producers who speak into the pundits earpieces and direct their comments, are very much aware of who is watching and where those eyeballs are located down to a T. That explains why OGS has been center of all attention for 3 years despite being a manager who was mismanaging and clearly out of his depth. Or how Tuchel was the great Messiah in the first 10 games, despite nobody thinking too much of him in Germany or France (his previous clubs) . I do a lot of reading on the internet about football. And aside from Salah's exploits or ref. and VAR decisions in our favor, everything else Liverpool, seems a tad downplayed sometimes.

I'm not screaming conspiracy of any sort, over here. Nor am I bitter in any shape or form. Just saying that there are probably or perhaps biases out there, and which to me, are perfectly natural.

Brilliant read, ArAy1969. You make valid points. Today’s journalists are agenda driven so it depends on who they want to pull down and build up on a day to day basis for the most part. It’s all about clicks and ratings so downplaying our exploits gets our fans riled up and the clicks and views hence, ratings soar. This applies to almost any scenario depending on what the agenda for the day or week is.
