Just as an aside - great effort by Mo with 20 goals for the season by December 7th.

I know it was a different time and a different game in both cases but Rushie reaching 20 by November 8th in 1986 and Sir Roger by the last week in November in 1961 …. what superb efforts.

Like I say different times and different game but how much would they have been worth in their heyday at today’s prices? Worth saying both of them were excellent at putting a shift in defending too.

I’m lucky to have seen all 3 and plenty others like God and Kenny ….

{Ed0666's Note - Fu*k me you saw Sir Roger play? Jeez Louise you and Eds 025 must hang out and exchange WW1 stories.

I remember seeing Rush play! What a player. Even got his autograph somewhere! Fowler was my personal favourite though, most natural goal scorer I've ever seen.

Hard to say with Sir Roger as I never saw him play, so movement, link-ups, passing, assisting, heading etc. would be areas I'm not sure about his ability in. On goals alone, I reckon he would commanded £100 million at the age of 25. Even when Bolton took him, he was still getting a goal every 3 games he played.
Rush probably the same kind of price.
Who knows though, if it was Barca, they would pay double that, then not play them for whatever reason, loan them out to say, a German team, who wpuldn't play them, then go back to Barcelona and fail miserably for whatever other reason.
You would like to think if theybwere playing today, we would not sell that level of player to another English side and that they would only want to play for us during their heyday, as they did in reality.

I remember being in tears when Rush left. The same when Aldo left but even he admitted he wasn't as good as Rush. I think if not for injuries and maybe the side he played in Robbie would've been better than both but Salah? I don't think we've had the best player in the world before. Kenny, Barnes and maybe even Gerrard have come close but this fella is the best on the planet.

Rush was special. A real talent with great ability and was a complete striker effective in the air and with both feet. A true natural for the CF position. If he played today, he would be just as good as he was back then, IMO.
