The way I see it regarding the whole salah contract saga is the club should make him the highest paid player at the club. All this talk about breaking the wage structure is ridiculous! What happens when we refuse to pay him the big money and he leaves? Do any of you think we’ll be able to get a player in with half the talent who isn’t going to want the same sorts of wages?

Many of the people I’ve seen on social media saying we shouldn’t be held to ransom are the same people who want us to sign the likes of mbappe and haaland! These people are deluded if they think those types of players are going to demand anything less than £500k per week.

We are back at the top of the footballing world and can compete with the best in the world but how long we stay there depends on keeping players like salah and to do that, I’m afraid you have to pay the big wages!

firstly, big name superstar players move clubs every season. There will be a line, whatever that is, and I trust whoever is in charge of it to make the right call either way. Everyone keeps saying he has the professionalism of CR7 to keep his levels well into his mid-30s but no one knows that. So it really is a gamble to commit further. The club won't just be paying him to recognize his value now but will have to consider his value in over 2 years time.

Faith at the end of the season Salah has one year left on his contract so FSG will only be able to get peanuts for him if he’s sold, there’s no way any club will pay over £50m for a 30 year old with one year left on his contract. FSG have to decide what is less palatable, paying him what he’s worth or letting him go for nothing or for a lot less than he’s actually worth, with the last two options meaning a suitable replacement cannot be bought, which may end up with very angry fan base. If FSG decide to sell or not renew, I don’t trust them to be able to adequately (and the key word is adequately) replace him as FSG simply don’t have the funds and it’s reasonably known that they’re seriously considering the likes of Dembele and Traore which would be a huge step down. Forget about challenging for the top four if we signed either of those to replace Salah.

The people that want Mbappe or Hartland are just deluded tho.

The same reason they won't fork out £500,000 a week in wages to Salah is the same they won't sign the 2 names above. Obviously you can't really sign a like for like if Salah went so I don't see why people try to make a comparison. Obviously whoever comes in has big shoes to fill, massive in fact but that doesn't mean you should add £15 million circa onto you wage bill and just concede to Salah's demand. Sooner or later he WILL go and the club will have to look for a replacement. It also doesn't mean the new player will initially be on Salah's wages either. I guess the club will be looking at potential and not an "Oven Ready" replacement. Just like how the club signs most players. We aren't renowned for signing superstars pretty much.

The OP makes some brilliant points, tbh. It will all depend on what Salah wants and if a middle ground can be let. Now with the way the agent has conducted himself on this issue perf ED02 and his all round conduct since Salah arrived definitely dies not help and has put the club heirarchy on the wrong side, we will have to see what happens here.

With whether he can be replaced or not, it will depend on the points VVVV has made and that is the sticking point on both sides, IMO. As for those wanting Haaland and/ or Mbappe, I can guess that they themselves, know those two are pipe dreams so not sure why they keep banging on over something they know won’t happen. Baffling logic, really.

VVV pretty sure Juve paid over £100m for a 33 year old Ronaldo, so that point isn't really valid. Football has gone crazy. World class players move regularly as mentioned above, if Salah does leave, I'm confident the club will cope.

Salah cannot be allowed to leave -- give him the money! There is literally no one on Earth I would rather see playing for us. There will always be money-grubbing agents but Salah by all accounts is a genuinely good character and only seems to want to be the best player he can be. The only players that can even come close to replacing him are going to cost us even more -- given that you'll have to pay a high transfer fee and obscene wages. We have never had a player this good in the premier league era (and I say that as a giant Steven Gerrard fan) . Selling him does not make our team better and in fact makes us many times worse.
